Earthbound: The Zombie Chronicles:
Written By: Joker89
It only took a split second. In an instant I found myself sprawled on the ground with a blood-thirsty whatever-it-was on top of me. I struggled to get him off as his mouth came just centimeters from tearing into my neck. I pulled my knees back ‘til they had almost touched my face, braced my feet against the creature’s chest, and shoved it off of me. Before it could get up, I had scrambled to my feet, gun in hand, whipped around, and fired a shot square into its chest.
It twitched. Thank God it’s dead, I thought as I began to turn around. Then I hear a rustling behind me. I turned back around to see the zombie (as we shall now call it), slowly rise back up. To my utmost horror, I realized the bullet didn’t even phase him, even though by human standards it would’ve been a clean hit. Again he charged at me, but this time I was ready for him. I stepped to the side and let him run past me. Then, before he could turn around and charge at me again, I fired at shot, this time straight in the back of the head. The zombie fell face down to the ground, not moving. Cautiously, I made my way around it. It still did not move. Finally making up my mind that it was at last dead, I continued my trek to the police station.
8A.M.: The journey to the station was not an easy one. Again, I found myself attacked by more and more zombies as I made my way there. I was running low on ammunition and strength, but most of all, I was finding myself surrounded. Everywhere I turned, more and more were coming. Where are they coming from, I thought as I continued on.
Going down one road, I noticed the old general store to my right. Turning, I ran in through the door and bolted it behind me. Turning around, I found myself looking down the barrel of a rifle. Carter, the general store manager, who lived in a flat above the shop, was staring at me, his finger on the trigger, ready to blow my brains out. “Who are you?,” he demanded.
“Don’t shoot. I’m Officer Ness of the Onett Police Department”
Carter stared at me with a curious look on his face. Finally, he lowered his gun. “My apologies, Ness. I thought you might have been one of them.”
