I've gone a long ways
A long long long long ways
It's hard to remember
Just how far away that is

I've gone a long ways
But for some odd reason
I feel like I've stayed right here
Stayed right here all along the way

I've gone a long ways
But I realize now
That all along
I've been bound to the Earth

I've gone a long ways
But I know I can go farther
I have to take my feet
Out of the ground and let go

I've gone a long ways
But how far can I go?
I'll cut the ties to Earth
And drift through the stars

I've gone a long ways
But the road is still ahead
Winding through the stars
And the magnificent universe

I've gone a long ways
And I'll go a little further
Only at death can I truly say
I've gone a long ways
