Horizon, Part 1: The Passing of Time, Chapter 16: Trouble on the High Seas

The group dove to the ground as a barrage of lasers hit around them. The four UFOs were highly agile and very aggressive.

"We need to dispatch these enemies quickly or else they may hit us with their lasers." Chartreuse was swinging Ness's bat at the UFOs but was missing every time. "It's really too bad that I'm not much of a batter."

Skulryk, in Dan's body, was not having much luck with his gun. "Dan, are you really accurate with this thing?!"

"Yes, of course." Christina answered quickly and almost boastfully. "Just keep shooting."

"Hey guys, have you ever heard of divide and conquer?" A stray shot nearly hit Christina, who was in Skul's body. "If we split up, we should be able to split their formation and knock them down one at a time. I saw it on TV once. It was something about advanced fighter tactics. Very interesting."

"Very good idea. Split up!" The group got up off of the ground and ran in various directions. Kageru stood his ground, staring at the people running off.

"Mm, divide and conquer. Good plan, but they could just take out the enemies with brute force..." He pulled out a card but was surprised to see that it was quickly vaporized by a well placed shot. "Well then, divide and conquer it is, then."

The real Lucky and Vincent were being chased by a cute Lil UFO. The UFO tried to line up for an attack but couldn't; the two were moving too much. Lucky stopped running suddenly and turned around, apparently waiting for a shot to be fired. The UFO took careful aim and prepared to fire but was struck down by a pole swung by Vincent. The UFO was scrapped by the hit.

"Haha, got it. One down, three to go." Vincent laughed a bit, which was rather rare. "Let's go get the rest of the UFOs, Lucky."

Skulryk, Dan, and Christina were being chased by a lil UFO. The UFO fired every now and then but kept on narrowly missing the target. Skulryk, tired of running, turned around and knocked the UFO in its top part with the blaster, temporarily stunning the contraption. Dan threw a rock at the UFO, further stunning it. Christina finished the UFO off with another rock, crushing the UFO.

Ness and Chartreuse were being chased by the high class UFO. The high class UFO also narrowly missed the target each time; each hit it did score was only damage to the clothing worn by the two. Chartreuse was backpedaling, swinging Ness' bat wildly at the UFO. He missed most of the time, but the one time that he did hit, the UFO was stunned. The stunned UFO fell to the ground, falling prey to Ness and Chartreuse's attacks. Ultimately, the UFO exploded, scratching both Ness and Chartreuse slightly.

The beautiful UFO was trying its best to hit Kageru. Its only successful attack was the blast that had destroyed Kageru's card. it concentrated on the young boy, totally ignoring Bruiser. This was its fatal mistake. After firing a high powered beam which missed, Bruiser tackled the UFO and bodyslammed it into a nearby rock wall. The blow dented the UFO's armor. Kageru followed up with a card attack that resembled a blade of light, slicing the UFO in two. With the defeat of the final UFO, the group got back together.

"Well then, that was pretty easy." Chartreuse turned to Skulryk, who was really Christina. "Divide and conquer, huh?"

"Yeah... anyway, Happy Happy Village should be through this tunnel, am I correct?" Chartreuse nodded. "Let's get there quickly, alright? I'm pretty tired after that fighting."

"Yeah, same here." Lucky was breathing heavily, but all in all, he was alright. The group walked into the cave and eventually got to the town without further incident.

-----

At around the same time the group got to Happy Happy Village, the miniaturized Mondo Mole had returned to its home in the cave east of the village.

"Oh, I am going to get revenge on those people. They just don't miniaturize a mole! I have a problem with my small size as it is!" Mondo Mole paced back and forth in front of the entrance to Lilliput steps. "Mr. Batty, come here!"

A Mr. Batty appeared, slightly confused from being called from sleep. "Yes sir?"

"I want you to keep a lookout on the entrance to this cave. You never know what'll come in. Stay there until I return to normal size, alright!?"

"Aye sir." The Mr. Batty sized up the situation. "Oh right, I heard from a butterfly that a group of kids have just arrived in town."

"What! Make sure that you keep an eye on them. If they enter this place... I'LL SLASH THEM. HAHAHAHA"

"HEEHEEHEE" The Mr. Batty joined in the laughing. It stopped laughing because of an icy glare it was getting from the mini-Mondo Mole.

"Go away, you." The Mondo Mole continued pacing once the Mr. Batty flew off.

-----

The group walked through Happy Happy village quickly, the thought of being back in their rightful bodies spurring them on.

"Oh man, I can't wait to get my old body back," Chartreuse said with a grin. "No offense to you Ness, but this was more fun the last time I did it. At least then I got to be in Anna's body..." He slowly stopped talking as he noticed Jeff looking forlornly at the ground.

"Don't worry Jeff," He said, running his hand through his hair awkwardly , "We'll get you your body back soon. It's only a matter of time before we find a way to get to Winters, and then we'll be able to find Narcy and get you fixed up."

"Yeah," Jeff said slowly, "But something doesn't add up."

"What do you mean?"

"I mean, you said that last time you did this, you were a ghost, but you were switched into Anna's body just the same. How come Paula and I weren't switched into other bodies this time around?"

Chartreuse scratched his chin thoughtfully. "Well, I honestly don't know the answer to that. However, I'm sure Narcy will know something. Just don't worry about it too much."

"Hey guys?" Skulryk said, interrupting the two. "We're there."

Chartreuse and Jeff looked up abruptly to see a shadowy cave entrance looming before them, beckoning them inside. With a quick glance at each other, the twosome stepped inside the cave and followed the others.

Once inside, Jeff took a long look at the surroundings. He had never seen this particular cave, but had only been told about it by Ness and Paula during their adventure to fight Giygas. Now that he was finally looking at it, he was finally able to understand what Ness and Paula had been talking about. The cave was brightly lit, not at all like the mines underneath Dusty Dunes, although no light source could be seen. It was not at all like the caves of Winters that he was so used to exploring; these caves lacked the tiny, glittering gems that littered the floor of his caverns back home, and the only thing to be seen was clods of dirt which lined the path.

"Come on, we'd better get moving. This cave isn't very big, but just the same, I don't like the feeling in here. Something seems out of place..." Christina whispered, stepping over a wayward rock.

After a few minutes of walking, Ness nodded absently. "You're right. Something's not right here, but I just can't place it."

"Ah, but I will place you! In the grave, that is! It is I, Mondo Mole, back for revenge!"

Ness looked down to see a tiny mole stomping around his feet in front of the exit, kicking up dust in the general direction of the group. He raised a tentative eyebrow, and glanced back at the group.

"Uh, what do I do here?" Ness asked, rubbing his head with confusion. Skulryk shrugged casually.

"Just kick him!"

"Oh! Alright!" So saying, Ness pulled back his foot and swung it forward, slamming directly into Mondo Mole's nose. The mole bounced off of the top of the exit and flew behind them with a scream that faded out into the air.

"Shall we go in?" Ness asked, gesturing his arm forward with flair. The rest of the group laughed, stepping through the doorway.

Now that the group was back outside, they took the opportunity to take in lung fulls of sweet, fresh air. As they did, they didn't even notice the effect that the sanctuary was having on their bodies. A dull, holy light had begun to surround them, and was slowly warping them back to their original bodies. By the time the group was finished adjusting to the outside air, the transformation had already taken place.

Ness stamped his foot impatiently. "So when do we get our bodies back?" He said, not noticing that the change had already occurred. It took a quick tap on the shoulder and quick murmur from Skulryk to set him right, causing him to blush furiously. "Oh...nevermind."

The group worked their way to the exit of the cave quickly, managing to avoid any further incidents with Mondo Mole. Back in Happy Happy Village, it wasn't long before they found a townsperson to help them along the way.

"Actually, the members of the town recently dug a tunnel that reaches out to the ocean, which is just a few steps north of here," the townsman said to the group. "I'm surprised we never decided to open an entrance to the ocean before; it makes travel so much easier, and exporting our fresh eggs is simpler than ever before!"

"Do you have a boat or anything that we can use to get to winters?" Lucky asked impatiently minutes later, tapping his foot.

The townsman, who had been going on about the Fresh Eggs of Happy Happy, cut himself off abruptly and nodded. "Actually, we do. An old pirate ship just washed up on the rocks the other day, and it only needs a few repairs to be seaworthy again. Since no one owns it, you can just walk right up and use it if you like. We people of Happy Happy are very trusting."

"Thanks a ton!" Lucky nodded sincerely, shaking the mans hand.

It only took a few moments to reach the ocean; the townsman had been right in saying that it was literally right on the other side of the village. Out on the beach, the group took in the sight of the abandoned pirate's ship.

"I always wanted to ride on one of these..." Chartreuse whispered, his voice giddy with awe. Before anyone could stop him, he grabbed out for a stray rope and hoisted himself up the side. "I'm gonna take a look around the Captain's quarters!"

The rest of the group immediately began repairs on the ship, using pieces of wood that had drifted ashore and a bucket of nails that had been left on the dock. With their handiwork nearly finished, Skulryk stepped back and looked at the ship.

"You know, it's bad luck to sail a ship without a name," Vincent said dangerously, "And we need all the good luck we can get right now."

Skulryk shrugged. "Well, I'm out of ideas. Dan, what do you think?"

Dan, who had been standing nearby and watching, reflected briefly on a memory that had surfaced when he first laid eyes on the ship.

"I've been working on the railroad," sang Poo happily as he hammered away at his nearly completed ship.

"So, Poo, what's the ship's name?" asked Charles.

"Uh..." Poo stuttered as his face turned red. "Name? Ships don't have to have a name."

"What was your ship's name before it got totaled? Fob," asked Tony.

"Um...Numcy..." mumbled Poo.

"What was that, Poo?" asked Charles.

"Narcy...I named my ship after we got together," Poo explained. "After that, I got used to calling it Narcy so I just left it at that. I guess we can call this the Narcy II or something,"

"Dan?" Skulryk asked again, waving his hand in front of Dan's face. "Any ideas?"

"Yeah," Dan said distantly, "Call it the Narcy III."

"Where are the other two?" Skulryk asked, but when he got no reply, he shrugged thoughtfully. "Alright, the Narcy III it is."

Just then, a fearsome roar was heard from the deck of the ship. Every single member of the group looked up to see Chartreuse above them, standing regally at the ship's wheel. The most surprising part of all was that he was decked out completely in pirate garb, from a wide black hat with a skull on it to a wide-brimmed musket in his one hand. He had also covered himself in a long, crimson cloak, which looked as though it had been fashioned for someone much larger in the waist than he.

"Yargh, me fellow landlubbers, It be I, the fearsome pirate Chartreuse the Fierce!"

Skulryk laughed out loud as he climbed up onto the ships deck with the rest of the group.

"Where'd you get all the stuff?" He asked, holding his stomach to keep the laughter from hurting.

"Do you like it? I found it in the Captain's quarters. I also found this," He said, pulling out a piece of parchment. Coughing slightly into his hand, he read the script carefully.

"I've captured that lumbering fool Donkey Kong and you will never see him again! Har-har-har-har! Signed, Kaptain K Rool." He finished, closing up the parchment. "Neat, huh?"

Skulryk nodded, still laughing slightly. "Anyway Chartreuse, we're ready to go, so do you want to be the captain of this thing?"

"Yar, as if I would give up the opportunity of bein' an old sea salt to one of you scurvy nancies!" Just as Chartreuse finished speaking, he felt the boat push off from the rocks and slowly make its way out onto the water.

"Due north to Winters, sir!" Skulryk said with a salute. "Take her to sea!"

-----

"Wake up, Harsemhin!" Kapeka screamed.

"I'm waking up..." Harsemhin groaned. As he opened his eyes, he realized his clothes felt differently. He quickly checked his outfit over, he recoiled. "What am I doing in this tunic?" The tunic was green. His hair was now blond and rather long. He wore a green archer's hat.

"You think your outfit is bad?" Talus muttered. "I'm a vampire. You're just an oversized elf." Indeed, Talus was a vampire. His skin was a pale white, his incisor teeth were fangs, and his forehead was broad, forcing his thin purple hair around the ridges of his forehead. In his hands he bore a sickle.

"No, I'd say you're more like a grim reaper," Matt murmured. Matt's appearance had changed, too: he wore a pair of blue overalls with a red sweatshirt underneath. White gloves and a red hat with a red M on a white circle on the front of the hat finished his look.

"You know," Rustopher observed, "I feel like standing on a cake and fighting with you, Matt." A distinct odor emanated from Rustopher's person. He wore an amulet, a suit which was very reminiscent of Santa Claus [except that no sleeves existed], spiked wristbands, red boots, a spiked fringe on the suite, and a hat very similar to a volcano, although two bull horns jutted out from the sides of the helmet. His nose was red, his eyes jutted out from his face, and his beard was large, covering his entire face up to his eyes and nose. His teeth were grey.

"Quit yer jibberjabber, or I'll blast you with these guns of mine!" Penetella yelled. He somehow flicked the safety of his guns on and off. His hands had somehow been replaced by guns. He was much larger, build-wise, than he had been.

"I don't like what I'm wearing. It's so unflattering." Chione now wore a white tube top, white harem pants bound by a golden belt, and sandals. Rather than her sword, she now cradled a crossbow in her hands.

"This Gameworld..." Harsemhin murmured. "We've changed because we're in it. But why?" He looked up at the sky. Kapeka, who now appeared like a fairy, flitted about in it. "We must find a way back."

-----

The Narcy III had set full sail; each person within the group was working hard to keep the ship on course and sailing smoothly. Chartreuse was the captain and Ness the pilot. Dan was in the galley cooking away since it was about lunchtime. Vincent, Skulryk, and Lucky were handling the lines to keep the sails free and full. Kageru and Bruiser were standing on the fantail, looking back at the place that they had left.

Christina, up in the crow's nest, was thinking quietly. She was thinking about the loss of her parents. I still can't believe that they died... I miss them so much. She looked down and observed everybody working away. She smiled a bit. At least I'm not left alone... but still, I miss them. She put on a diamond ring that had been made for her a long time ago. It was hiding in her pocket and was a gift from her parents. Looking off to starboard, she could barely make out a fleet setting a course for a destination unknown.

"Cap'n!" Christina yelled down to Chartreuse. He looked up. "The fleet located off to starboard appears to be an Eagleland Navy Carrier Battle Group. It is comprised of a carrier, four destroyers, three cruisers, three frigates and a fast combat support ship." Two carrier based fighters flew over the Narcy III. She could barely make out the colors of the squadron insignia located on the tail of the lead fighter. "It appears to be the Vinson Battle Group, cap'n. Those fighters are from the Black Knight Fighter Squadron currently stationed on board that ship."

"How do you know that?" Chartreuse yelled up to Christina, puzzled at her knowledge of naval ships and aircraft.

"I'm obsessed with the navy." Christina giggled a bit; she did this to try to cheer herself up. Glancing to port, she noticed a lone ship setting full sail almost parallel to their course. It was moving closer to them by the minute. Looking up at the colors flown by the ship, she saw that it was flying the skull and crossbones; it was a pirate ship. "Sir! Pirates off the port quarter!"

"Arr... pirates." Chartreuse used his fake salty sailor accent to comment on this situation. He barked out a command. "MAN YOUR BATTLESTATIONS! Err... head below and man the guns." Vincent, Skulryk, Lucky, Kageru, and Bruisers headed below to man the cannons. "Keep me posted, Christina!"

Christina watched closely as the pirate ship drew closer. The small ensign flown below the skull and crossbones surprised her. "Char... that's Captain Morgan! He and his men love to have a good time with his prisoners." Chartreuse shrugged up at her. "They KILL their prisoners and rape any women aboard! They're the nastiest pirates to sail the seas in centuries!"

A look of surprise crossed Chartreuse's face. "Ness, set a course that takes us away from them as FAST AS POSSIBLE."

------

On board the pirate ship, Captain Morgan looked through his looking glass. "Arr, it appears to be another merchant vessel." He looked up on the wall; a scoreboard was kept there. "If we get this one, it'll give us a 1000-0 record in battle! That means brews for us if we get it." His pirates cheered. "Fire the guns!"

------

Christina was shocked to see puffs of smoke erupting from the renegade ship. The shots it fired landed dangerously close to the Narcy III. "Sir! We're under attack. I recommend returning fire. They appear to be 5,000 yards and closing quickly! I'd say it's closing at 25 knots!"

"Fire the guns! Enemy range: 5000 yards. Speed: 25 knots! Knock them down, guys!"

The ship was rocked by the recoil from the cannons. Most of the shots fired from the first volley missed. However, one hit the enemy ship's mizzenmast.

"Char, we hit the top of the mizzenmast! They're still closing, though. They're not moving as fast as they were before. If I had to guess, it looks like they're moving at 20 knots now. They'll close with us any minute!"

"Well, it looks like we're going to take down a pirate then, huh?" Chartreuse looked up at Christina and smiled broadly. He picked up his musket and loaded the weapon. "I love challenges."

-----

"There will probably be more to it than just finding a way back, I think," Siris said with a frown. He appeared now to wield a sword and was dressed in what seemed to be old-fashioned adventurer's clothing: leather boots, tan pants, a breastplate, a pair of gauntlets and a long cape. His hair had turned green. He looked himself over. "Man, this outfit rocks."

"Just what are we dressed as, anyway?" Rustopher inquired.

"I think... that we're video game characters," said Siris after a few minutes. "Though I'm not sure. But seeing as how this is 'Gameworld'... and anyway, I think I recognize that costume." He pointed at Matt. "He's... Mario. I'm not sure about the rest of us, though. Sorry."

"I believe that we are probably going to have to overcome a few challenges in this world," Harsemhin predicted. "It would probably behoove us to make sure that we know about the more advantageous aspects of our costumes."

A few seconds passed as the group attempted to familiarize itself with its various props. Kapeka interrupted the silence.

"Look out!" Kapeka shouted. Harsemhin directed his gaze upward, and nimbly rolled to the side just in time to avoid a barrel that seemed to have been hurled at him. A setting began to materialize around and above the party: Patterns of red and orange iron beams and ladders were visible; barrels rolled down the inclines, thrown by a large primate at the top of the structure.

"I think we've come to a first challenge," Talus noted.

-----

Just as Chartreuse was beginning to aim his musket, he felt the boat shake beneath him.

"Christina, what happened?" He hollered, trying in vain to reposition the musket on his shoulder as the waves crashed up against the side of the ship.

"Chartreuse, they're opening cannonfire! A cannon just hit us on the port side, knocking out cannon one! We need to retaliate fast before they knock out the rest of our arsenal!"

Tugging on his crimson pirate coat impatiently, Chartreuse adjusted his hat and stomped his foot on the deck to alert the men below.

"Come on, fire! The boat can't take this much longer..."

Down below, the remaining members of the group were doing their best to open fire on Captain Morgan's ship. However, their experience with cannons was extremely limited, and thus not as effective as they had originally planned.

Skulryk wiped beads of sweat off his forehead as he desperately tried to light a match against the side of the cannon.

"Skulryk, Perhaps I could use one of my card spells to light your cannon for you, as you seem to be struggling with the match!" Kageru stated solemnly, lighting the fuse of his cannon with a simple card trick.

Skulryk glared at him angrily, striking the match particularly violently against the dusty cannon surface. Biting back some rather colorful words, he finally sighed with relief as the match caught flame. Suddenly, the match went out as a deafening explosion rocked the cabin.

"What just happened?" Lucky yelled above the din, trying his best to load another gigantic cannonball. No one had the answer, so Dan and Skulryk decided to run up top to see what had happened.

Back on deck, Dan and Skulryk reached the top of the stairs to see Chartreuse staring up at the mast in horror. The two men looked over to see a cannonball lodged firmly in the mast, and Christina still perched atop the crow's nest.

"Christina, get down before that thing falls over!" Chartreuse shouted, his hands cupped together to amplify the sound over the roar of cannonfire. Inside, he was shaking. Although he knew very little about sailing, he knew enough to know that a broken mast crippled a ship considerably, making it a sitting duck for any marauding pirates.

"Hey, I have an idea!" Christina yelled back. "Don't worry about me!"

"Too late for that!"

Christina looked down in the crow's nest, noting the objects at her feet. She had noticed a sword and a polishing rag before, but had never taken any interest in them until now. Sucking up her courage, she grabbed the oiled rag and draped it over a piece of rigging that was attached from the crow's nest straight down to the steering wheel. Gulping nervously, she grabbed onto both sides of the rag and jumped.

The air rushed at her as she slid down the rope at top speed, sending her hair flying out behind her. She yelled out with exhilaration as she neared the landing, and with a quick jump she dismounted from the rope. Once she hit the deck, she noticed the remaining three people up top were gaping at her in shock. She blushed slightly, but there were more pressing matters to be worried about.

By now, a strong fog had rolled in across the ocean, making the visibility between the two ships almost nonexistent. Cannonfire still came from both sides, but the incapacitated mast caused them to sit still in the water while Captain Morgan's ship brought fire on them from all sides.

"We're doomed!" Skulryk said finally, summing up the group's feeling. "It would take a miracle to save us now!"

As he spoke, Christina looked out into the rolling fog. Squinting slightly, she could swear that there was another ship out in the distance, but in a blink it vanished. She shook her head slowly, unwilling to believe her eyes. However, when she looked up again, she could clearly see the outline of another ship, although it seemed to be made up of blue, grey, and silver light. Not turning away from the sight, she quickly called out for the remaining group members.

"Guys, come get a look at this!"

By, Captain Morgan too had seen the ghost ship, and was more than a little unnerved. It was one thing to attack a merchant ship of sailing novices, but it was quite another to bring the undead into the mix, particularly when the undead in question had a grudge against him. He grabbed at the flask of whiskey at his belt and devoured it nervously, not taking his eyes off of the ever-nearing ship.

"So we meet again, Captain Poo...Finally come to settle the score, after all this time...

Just as he finished speaking, he felt a cannonball rock the ship. However, it had been fired not from the direction of his adversaries, but from the direction of the mysterious ship that sailed in from the horizon.

"Captain Morgan! We've been critically hit!" His first mate screeched, running up from below deck. Captain Morgan felt about for another flask of whiskey nervously, but upon finding none, he merely stood still as he felt another cannonball jar the ship drastically.

"Yes, so we have..."

"Aren't you going to do something?" The man screeched, his nasal voice piercing the thick air. The captain muttered something to himself, and then turned to his first mate.

"We're all going to die on this boat, and there's absolutely nothing you can do about it!"

The first mate went a deadly pale, ignoring a third shaking cannonball shot. He began to whimper quietly, and broke into a full run for his cabin seconds later. Two more cannons hit the ship, each hitting the underside of the boat. Water began to flood the lower chambers, and within a moments time the famed Captain Morgan's boat was sinking.

By now, the crew of the Narcy III that was on top deck had begun to notice that Morgan's boat was sinking rapidly, and the ghost boat was now fully into view. It was a grand ship of epic proportions, with billowing, silver sails that fluttered strongly although there was little wind. The four people on deck could barely make out a man at the wheel, laughing merrily as he pushed onward, cutting a path through the water. The lettering below him, carved in beautiful, flowing script that had been aged with time, read Narcy.

Chartreuse, who had been watching the ghost ship intently, suddenly pulled his thoughts away from the ship when he felt a strong pulling motion from the waves. Looking over quickly at Morgan's ship, he saw that it was no more; Captain Morgan, his crew, and his vast treasure had all been pulled under the waters, never to be seen again.

"I guess we got our miracle..." He whispered, eyeing the swarm of bubbles that pushed their way to the surface from Morgan's location.

"Yeah, I guess you did." Over on the ghost ship, the silver and white man nodded with a grin. The four people dropped their jaws, completely aghast. Although they had just seen a ghost ship completely destroy their enemy, the fact that he had actually spoken to them sealed the deal.

"Who are you?" Christina asked carefully, calling out to the Captain. The ghost shrugged casually, leaning on the rail of his ship.

"Just another lost soul, sailing the high seas. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go now. I've got places to go, people to see. The life of the pirate's quite busy..." As Captain Poo turned his ship around, Dan could swear he saw the ghost pirate wave at him.

In a burst of curiosity, Chartreuse ran to the opposite end of the ship quickly, his outlandish hat falling off in the breeze. At the back of the ship, he was closer to Captain Poo than he had been before, with just enough time for one more question.

"Why did you save us?" Chartreuse asked breathlessly, staring out at the ship. Captain Poo smiled slowly, shifting his weight onto the wheel of the ship.

"As I said to my good friend unacat, I never let a grudge go unsettled. And also, I figured if I wouldn't be the man to make Narcy happy, I would at least save the man who would."

Chartreuse opened his mouth, stunned, but he couldn't find the right words to say. Finally, he managed to muster a few words. "What do you mean like that?"

Captain Poo grinned, his ship now pulling away. "Oh, you'll find out sooner or later." Having said this, he winked at Chartreuse, causing him to forget everything that the pirate said. With that, Captain Poo sailed off into the mist, never to be seen again by human eyes.

Just then, the remaining three people ran up to Chartreuse, Dan holding Chartreuse's hat in his hands. Stepping forward to speak, he beamed as he handed back the hat.

"Man, the rest of the group is never going to believe this!"
