Imbue, Chapter 12: Partings


Miss Fake's eyes fluttered open.
"Are you ready, Lucretia?" Anthadd asked.
"Y, yes..." she replied. "Do you want me to tell the story of what happened?"
Narcy nodded.
"It all started some time ago... a few days, I think. I was wandering around Winters when I slipped and fell unconscious. When I came to, I was in Stonehenge..."
"And Orange Kid experimented on you, right?" Mike added.
"Yes. He plunged a hypodermic into my shoulder... and I blacked out. When I came to, I was the Starwoman... my mind and sanity shattered... they somehow made it into that disk... now... I have to sleep..."
Miss Lucretia Fake, proprietor of the Topolla Theatre in Fourside, drifted off to sleep.

"Charles is going to return to his original form soon, right?" Sebastian asked excitedly.
"Yes," Cyan confirmed. "Your brother will be back to normal soon."
"Just calm down," Luna warned. "It won't go faster no matter what you do. Just sit down and watch the ride."

"The cage is for safety measures, right?" Charles asked.
"Yes," TsuramiSea answered. "Doctor Andonuts and Maxwell Labs have proposed that we cage any animals after restoring the Imbued minds within them to their proper bodies."
Anthadd looked up from the computer screen. "Correct. We can't predict the benevolence, or lack thereof, of the natural bodies of any animals that were Imbued into. Therefore we're caging you when we return you to your natural body, then Ditelling it to a suitable habitat once you awake in your own, human body."
"I'm cool with that."
Narcy stopped with what she was doing, turned around, and muttered, "Bad joke."
Charles scratched his head. "I try..."
"I do suggest," Maxwell warned, "that we de-Imbue you soon. We don't know at what point an Imbuing becomes permanent."
Doctor Andonuts spat out some donut crumbs. "I concur with Maxwell. Master Charles, please enter the cage. Jeff, Paula, would you mind securing the cage once Charles is in?"
"No problem," the two replied.
Charles entered the cage, and Jeff and Paula secured it.
"Now," Rusty drawled, "how'll I work this here thin'?" He was fiddling with the Ditel.
"Don't worry yourself about that sort of thing," Anthadd chided. "I'll handle the Ditelling purposes."
Dan, Skulryk and Captain Poo were helping to make sure the Imbued peoples' bodies were well secured for now. After all, they would be around a while. Miss Fake was right next to Luna's proper body, and everyone else was to the right of Lucretia.
Immediately to her right was Charles' body.
Anthadd walked over and gently got the Ditel from Rusty.
"Just press the Soul button on the computer screen when I tell you to. Back away from the cage, everyone." Rusty went over to the computer screen.
Everyone did as requested.
"100% charge... good. I shouldn't have to charge until we're done. Rusty, press the Soul button."
Rusty pressed a button. The Strong Watcher convulsed for a few seconds, then collapsed on the floor of the cage. The room stayed suspended in anticipation of what might happen. About a minute later, Charles' human body's eyes fluttered open.
Dr. Andonuts walked over the door and mouthed, "He's okay," to Luna. Luna then passed this onto Sebastian, but warned him to be quiet.
Sebastian tiptoed into the room, then ran quietly over and hugged his brother.
Anthadd aimed the Ditel, and fired it at the Strong Crocodile which had housed Charles' soul for some time. It fizzled out of the room, and reappeared in the Pond Cave.

The process was similar with the Tessie Watchers Playing Rough and Elder Watchers. Charles and Sebastian were elated to be reunited with their friends, in the same species, of course.
However, in their case, they were de-Imbued together, and the cage quickly unsecured after the final Tessie Watcher awoke.

Then came Tony. Anthadd Ditelled the cage into the Pond Cave, as Fobbies were naturally weak, and would probably take a long time to recover.
"I want to, fob, keep this Fobby as a pet when I'm de-Imbued," he replied. "Fob."
"Do you think you can handle the responsibility?" Jeff teased.
"Fob! Of course!"
Anthadd looked up from the computer, where he was now again, just making sure all the configurations were correct, as he had done before the de-Imbuings they had done before.
"Are the calculations correct?" Luna asked, walking in. She was soon followed by Cyan.
"Yeah," Rusty affirmed. "Can I press the button now?"
"Fob fob fob! I want to press the button," Tony pleaded.
"Ah, you can do it an' all, lil Fabby." Rusty picked Tony up. "Kick the button with yarl right foot... paw... whatever!"
Tony kicked the Soul button with his right foot, and immediately slumped down.
The group clustered around Tony's bed, the last bed in the row. His eyes fluttered open.
"Where's my Fobby pet?" Tony asked.

"Is my body healed yet?" Luna queried.
"It's fine now," Maxwell related. "Would you like to de-Imbue now?"
"Of course!"
Cyan sat himself down in the computer seat. After about a minute's typing, he had found Luna's file in the Imbue Disk.
He opened up the file. "If you would do so, Luna, de-Imbue yourself."
Luna walked over, in Venus' body, and pressed the Soul button. Luna slumped over.
In a few seconds, Venus stood up, and Luna sat up in her bed.

After the events of Imbue....
  • Lucretia Fake reopened the Topolla... across the street from the original. Poochyfud became her assistant.
  • Narcy began extensive research of energy conversion in her brand new lab (built from the remains of the Topolla) and is currently researching Fire Shamans, an ancient people created from fire.
  • Anthadd returned to his lab, with Charles and Sebastian, who began to help him with his work. Of course, Charles spent most of his time training in Stellar...
  • Captain Poo sought out unacat, and soundly beat him in revenge. Where he beat unacat is unknown.
  • unacat's whereabouts following the conclusion of Imbue are unknown.
  • Dan returned home to Onett, and is now in the process of Imbuing life into his Mr. Saturn action figure.
  • Cyan also followed Anthadd, but soon disappeared as strangely as he had arrived. Anthadd claimed that Cyan went "world hopping" again.
  • TsuramiSea and Skulryk also disappeared, but no one could offer explanations to where they had gone but home.
  • Jeff, Paula, Apple Kid, Dr. Andonuts, Maxwell and Tony returned to their normals. Of course, Jeff and Tony were faced with a new facet to their friendship: the Fobby, which Tony had christened 'Toff'.
  • Venus returned to work at the New Topolla.
  • Mike returned to Summers, as he had to go back to active duty.
  • Luna became a back-up singer for Venus.
  • The other Tessie Watchers continued to watch for further signs of Tessies, as one had been confirmed as existing. None ever considered contacting Sebastian and Charles for some reason.

    Ending Statement from Anthadd
    It's odd to have skipped things like this in Tryst. But I guess the AC glut in Tryst was related somewhat.
    About the best change between Imbue and Union and Tryst was that I only edited one person out of Imbue. In Tryst, I had two or three edited out, and Union had about seven (slight exaggeration, IF an exaggeration). Also mentionable was the fact that the villain seemed more... believable. Maybe it's because I created sufficient back story when choosing the villain.
    I hope you continue to read these fanfics as they're put up. We, the writers, enjoy writing them.
