Post-Giygas - The Life of a Prince
By Gear

This is the story of our very own Prince Poo. He left the party after the final battle against the Universal cosmic destroyer, Giygas, to return to his homeland of Dalaam, where he reigns as prince. He always spent much of his time training, and learning philosophy. However, he never fully learned some things that he might need to know to make it, even as Royalty. With his popularity among the girls rising, Poo must learn a few adaptive skills, or he may be in a bit of trouble.

Prologue - The Return Home

Upon returning to his home in Dalaam, Prince Poo was welcomed back with a huge festival in his honor. Each night, around sunset, dancers, buskers, and various merchants set themselves up, with their banners and theatrics adorning the crimson, sun-blazed sky. The festivities continued through the night, every night, for a week after the Prince's return. Finally, after seven nights of performances, feasts, and drunks passing out on the ground, the festival ended. Life returned to normal in Dalaam...well, near-normal, at least for most of the residents.

The restaurants still made their food, and the patrons still did...patron stuff. However, things didn't quite feel right for Poo. Sitting on his throne in the palace, receiving educational lectures, and occasionally using the washroom, he felt restless, uneasy.

"This is ridiculous. Until recently, I never realized how boring this was."

Poo's sudden outburst caught the ear of the telephone guy next to his throne.

"My lord...please try to be reasonable. You're back as prince, and now you must fulfill your everyday duties."

Poo slumped himself over his his throne, sitting across it, instead of in the actual seated position. He stared wearily at the gilded ceiling, glimmering in the sunlight that shone in through the windows. He longed for more adventures, for more of the thrills he felt while travelling with Ness and the rest of the gang. He wanted it to be the way it was until they defeated Giygas.

"I have to get out of here. I can't take it much longer. I can't deal with the way it is, now that I have experienced the outside world...maybe I'll just leave."

"Just leave, huh?" Poo quickly shot his vision to the telephone guy, who was every bit as freaked out as Poo. Looking around, he hopped up to his feet, trying to find the source of the voice. Nothing was to be found.

"You'd just leave, after everything your were taught? All your values, gone?" Poo's master faded in from the shadows.

"Master...I...didn't know your were there."

"Exactly. And, because of that, I know how you truly feel. These thoughts...you shouldn't be having these types of wishes. Not as a prince. You have responsibilities."

"I know, but...it's just so tedious, so monotonous, compared to the adventures I had with Ness."

"Poo, if you leave...you leave everything behind. Your title, your honor...EVERYTHING."

"......."

Poo was speechless, he knew he wanted to leave, but hearing those words put the decision into rough territory. Now silent, and speechless, Poo left the throne room to his quarters, and began to think.

Night descended upon the Palace. A veil of midnight blue and black covered the sky, reducing all visibility to near-nothing. The palace attendants were falling asleep on their feet, as the hour hit twelve. Nothing could be heard anywhere in the palace. Even if something did sound, no one would be awake to hear it. A shadow darted across an entranceway, and up against a wall. With a quick twirl, a grappling hook flew up and latched onto the palace wall. The figure climbed up the rope on the grappling hook, and onto the wall. Looking back towards the inner sanctum of the palace, Poo sighed.

"I'm sorry master. I had to leave. Please forgive me. Protect the country I so love. One day I will return."

He leapt off of the wall, and darted into the night. A quick, passing feeling of fatigue fell over Poo, but did not cause him to flinch. He sprinted down the mountain, into the forest below.

"I'm sorry, too, my Prince. I had hoped you wouldn't choose this path. The world will be a difficult place without your special talents. Hold your sword tight....you will need it. Be careful, and don't die."

His master stared into the night, and felt Poo's lifeforce fade as it got farther and farther away.
