"MOM! Where's my clothes?" the fourteen year-old from Onett asked. This boy was Ness, and he had wanted to go play baseball with his friends, and maybe go in that old, rickety treehouse, one last time, before it collapses. Ness chuckles to himself.
"Ness.. There's something I have to tell you. Your dad's been gone for a very long time, and this phone business of his isn't what it seems. Your 'dad' is not really your father. It's someone... who I've fell in love with, and while you were gone, I saw him, and we... Well... hit it off, so to speak. We're moving to his house today, and I've already packed for you... I'm sorry I didn't tell you."
"WHAT?!" Ness exclaims. "YOU DIDN'T TELL ME THIS?" "... why?" Ness paces around the room, stuttering and trying not to cry. He doesn't know why he wants to cry, but he doesn't let it out. Ness' sister, Tracy, is awoken by Ness' yelling. "What's going on, mom?" she asks quietly. "SHE'S GOT US MOVING OUT OF THE HOUSE, THAT'S WHAT, TRACY. AND FOR A GUY THAT WE'VE NEVER MET BEFORE TO BOOT!", Ness answers.
"But... but... what about our friends, Ness? What about our friends?" Ness' mom tries to think of words to explain in gently to Tracy.
"Tracy, you know that your dad has been gone for a long long time right?" Tracy nods her head yes. "I've given up on him, Tracy, h-"
Tracy interrupts. "NO! Dad's coming back! I know he will!" She then runs outside, saying how much she hates her mom.
"Tracy! Come back! NESS! GO AFTER HER!!" his mom screams.
"Sorry mom, but I can't. I fell in love with this couch but I didn't tell you before." Ness says with sarcasm. He then lays down on the sofa, as to say "And that's it."
"Ness, you have to understand-"
"Understand what? That you don't love dad anymore? That you're a no good, two bit-"
"NESS! GO TO YOUR ROOM, NOW!" The news was turning into a full out fight.
Ness' bottom lip quivered, and then he ran outside, into the same direction that Tracy went.
"What have I done?" Ness' mother asks herself out loud.
