Well, here’s the first of the “I Have Confidence Side Stories.” As you all know, I do not own Digimon or EarthBound (although I’d like to). So BOOYAH. Also, this is my first romance fic, so be nice. n.n;

I Have Confidence Side Story:
Jeff’s Secret

A couple of days after the Sky Runner crashed...
“Mimi, are you okay?” Palmon asked her friend.
Mimi loooked up. “Yeah, I’m alright...” she said. Actually, she had been feeling a little depressed. There was no way to contact Gennai, therefore everyone was still stuck in the Digiworld. Some UFO-thing had brought four new kids there, and they couldn’t get home either. There was nothing anyone could do, and being that they couldn’t go home had made Mimi feel a little homesick.
Palmon looked at Mimi. “Are you sure? You look a little down..”
“Honestly, I’m okay. Don’t worry about it...” She paused. “Excuse me...” Mimi stood up, and ran into the forest.
Everyone stared blankly, Mimi had just gotten up in the middle of a conversation! “I think something’s wrong with her...” Sora said.
Jeff sighed. He was a little homesick too, it seemed.
“Hey Jeff...you okay, buddy?” Ness asked.
Jeff picked up his laptop. “Heh, I’m fine. Just trying to figger out how to get this dern laptop working. Heh heh.” He began to dismantle it.
‘Something is definetely wrong here. Mimi just got up and ran off, and here Jeff is, trying to hide something...’ Ness thought. “Ookayy...”

Mimi ran blindly through the forest, not looking where she was going. After a few minutes of running, she came to a small clearing by a lake. She sat down on a rock. ‘Why did this have to happen? Why couldn’t I stay home from camp this year?!’ she thought, wiping her eyes.
She looked up at the sky, at the endless number of stars. Then, she heard a voice behind her. “Mimi, are you okay?”
She turned around surprisedly. “Oh...hi Palmon...” The small green Digimon sat down next to her. “Yeah, I’m fine...”
“Are you sure? If you’re okay, then why are you crying?” Palmon asked.
“I’m so homesick... Sometimes I just wonder if we’re ever going to make it back home... Are we going to be stuck in the Digiworld forever?”
“I’m sure you’ll be able to go home soon...”
“Thanks a lot, Palmon...” Mimi said, hugging her Digimon friend.

“Earth to Jeff! Come in, Jeff!” Ness said, waving his hand in front of Jeff’s face. “Hellooooo!!” He poked Jeff. Nothing. “Houston, we have a PROBLEM!!”
“Huh? Were you saying something, Ness?” Jeff asked, turning to his red-capped friend.
Ness nearly fell off of his seat. “We were going to look for Mimi. Weren’t you listening?”
“I’m sorry. I was just a bit zoned out.” Jeff muttered, blushing.
“I’ll say you were,” Tai said, standing up. “We were planning on splitting up. Palmon went off to find her a few minutes ago, and she hasn’t returned. You coming?” he asked.
Jeff stood up. “Yeah, I’ll come. Who all’s going?”
“Sora, Kari, T.K., Heather, and I are staying here with the Digimon,” Paula said.
“Okay, that’s fine, but are we going in groups, or what?” Poo asked.
“We can cover more ground if we go individually. That way, we can all look in different directions, and find Mimi more quickly,” Izzy said.
“But what if more of us get lost? Ever think of that?” Joe asked, worried as usual.
“Okay, fine, we can pair up. But there’s an odd number of us, so we’ll either have one group of three, or one of us will go alone,” Matt said.
“I’ll go alone,” Jeff said. “I’m not afraid of any bad Digimon, so I’ll be fine.”
“Okay, that’s fine.”
After everyone else paired up, Jeff set off by himself to look for Mimi.
With Tai and Ness...
“I still can’t figure it out,” Ness said. “Why would Mimi go running off like that? And in the middle of a conversation too!”
“Why are you so concerned?” Tai asked, getting an evil grin. “You like her or something?”
Ness’s ears began flaming. He whacked Tai on the head. “No way! You know I like Paula! Besides...I think I know who does like her...”
This time, it was Tai who’s ears turned red. “NO WAY!” he shouted, causing Ness to wince.
“You dunce, I’m talking about Jeff,” Ness said, rolling his eyes.
“Oh. My bad.”
With Matt and Poo...
“Nope, not here...” Matt said, looking behind a bush.
“Not here either...” Poo said, checking behind a boulder.
“Geez, she could be anywhere! The Digiworld is a pretty big place...” Matt said, groaning.
“You could find just about anything here, even a...” Poo was cut off, seeing something behind the bush he looked in.
“Even a what?” Matt asked.
“WILD DIGIMON!!”

With Joe and Izzy...
“AAH!” Joe screamed, clinging to a tree.
“Relax, Joe. It’s just a Catimon. Those things are harmless,” Izzy said, peeling Joe off of the tree.
“But they’re still freaky,” Joe said, following Izzy.
Back to Matt and Poo...
“That’s a Monochromon. Those guys aren’t much of a nuisance, unless they’re hungry. And that one looks about starved,” Matt said.
“Uh oh, then we’re in trouble,” Poo said.
“Agh, why didn’t I think about bringing Gabumon with me?!” Matt shouted, dodging a claw swipe from the Monochromon.
“I can take care of this thing! PSI Brainshock!” The Monochromon stopped charging at Poo. It looked confused. “All right! It worked!” The Monochromon walked off, feeling a bit woozy.
“Wow. And for good measure, WOW,” Matt said.
With Jeff...
“Mimi’s GOT to be around here somewhere!” Jeff muttered to himself, pushing away a bush. He began to get worried. It wasn’t exactly like Jeff to worry (except in that one case when Paula got kidnapped my Monotoli). Maybe it was because...he had a slight crush on Mimi.
He pushed aside a few more bushes, and came to a small clearing next to a lake...
Back with Mimi and Palmon...
“We’d better head back to camp. It’s getting really late,” Palmon said.
“You go on ahead, Palmon. I just need to be alone for a little while...” Mimi said, smiling at her friend.
“Okay...hurry back if you can!” Palmon said, running back into the forest, narrowly missing a blonde-haired boy...
Mimi sighed, looking into the water. A voice spoke up behind her. “Mimi?”
Mimi quickly looked behind her. “Oh...hi Jeff.”
“Are you okay?” he asked.
“Yeah, I’m alright...” Mimi said, keeping her eyes locked on the water. “Why don’t you sit down, Jeff?” she asked, scooting over on the rock she was sitting on.
Jeff’s ears turned red for a moment. “Uhh...okay,” he said, sitting down next to Mimi. She was now looking up at the sky. “Why did you go running off earlier?” he asked her.
“I just needed to be alone for a while...” she said.
“Oh. Well, if you need to be alone, then I’ll go if you want me to...” Jeff stood up.
“No! I mean...please stay,” Mimi said, grabbing his hand.
Jeff’s ears started flaming. “Umm...okay.” He sat back down. The two were quiet for a moment, then Mimi broke the silence.
“Do you ever wonder what other people think of you?”
That question totally took Jeff by surprise. He began sweating. “Uhm...heheh, what do you mean by that?”
“Well, have you ever wondered if other people were thinking of you? That’s what I mean. Sometimes, I wonder if people are just pretending to be my friends...”
“Mimi, you have plenty of friends! More friends than me, in fact. About half the kids at my boarding school hate me. In fact, the only GOOD freinds I have are Ness, Paula, Poo, my best frind Tony, and Maxwell Labs, an older student at my school. Plus you guys too,” Jeff said.
“But everyone thinks I’m just a snob who only cares about herself,” Mimi said, wiping her eyes, which were getting a bit misty. Neither of them said anything for a while.
Jeff broke the silence. “I don’t think that.”
Mimi’s head popped up. “What did you say?” she asked, looking at Jeff, who’s green eyes locked with hers.
“I don’t think you’re a snob. Neither do the others. In fact, I know one person here who cares about you a lot.”
Mimi’s heart skipped a beat. ‘Maybe, just maybe...no, I should never jump to conclusions...but still...’ She took a deep breath, then asked, “Who?”
Jeff slowly began to blush. Mustering up all of his courage, he took a deep breath...
Meanwhile, with Tai and Ness...
Tai looked down at his crest, which was glowing brightly. “Huh?! What’s going on?” he thought out loud.
Ness looked at the orange crest. “What’s it doing?” he asked.
“Someone around here must be using a lot of courage! That must be what my crest is reacting to! Maybe if we follow the signals, it’ll lead us to where it originated...” Tai said, holding it out on front of him.
“Umm...weren’t we looking for Mimi?” Ness asked, scratching his head. Then he got an idea. “Eheh...”
“Huh? What’s so...” Then Tai began to get the same idea.. “Eheh...”
“Remember how I said earlier that Jeff had a bit of a crush on Mimi?” Ness aasked, getting an evil grin.
“Uh-huh...” Tai said, the same expression on his face.
“HE’S CONFESSING!” they said simultaneously.
Back with Jeff and Mimi...
“Go on...” Mimi prompted.
“Ummm...well uhh...you see...” Jeff stuttered.
“Who is it?”
“*gulp*” ‘Here goes...’ Jeff took a deep breath. “It’s me.”
Mimi’s heart leaped. ‘I can’t believe it! He DOES like me...’ On an impulse, she leaned over and kissed him softly.
Jeff’s eyes opened wide. Millions of thoughts were running through his mind as the few moments of pure heaven (in Jeff’s opinion, annyhoo) went by all too quickly.
Back with Ness and Tai, who were spying on Mimi and Jeff...
“Man, am I gonna let Jeff have it in the morning. There is no way this is staying a secret!” Ness whispered, as he and Tai saw Mimi kiss Jeff.
“You’ve got that right! This is like what happened last night with Matt and Heather!” Tai muttered.
“Yeah! Muahaha.”
Mimi and Jeff...
Mimi suddenly realized what she was doing, then quickly broke off the kiss. She shyly looked up at Jeff, who looked a little disappointed. Other than that, he seemed to be frozen in place. “Umm...are you okay?”
Jeff broke out of his little “trance” and looked at Mimi. “I’ve never been better,” he said.

Well, there ya go. While waiting for my writer’s block to clear on “I Have Confidence,” I’m writing a bunch of side-stories to go with it. This is the first one, also my first romance fic. Lemme tell ya though...the kiss scene was HARD. Be nice! ^_^;;
