Chapter 6

Kitusomon stared down into the boiling lava below, Dracomon at her side. Pokey hovered down on her otherside in his Spider-Mech. “Ya really think it’ll work?” he asked.

“Knowing this volcano, it will. Back when it erupted, all of the Pyromon nearby immediately died, with exception of one. One that was the strongest of the group, that also was at the point to where it would digivolve soon. When the boiling magma touched him, he became Dagomon. Just imagine what it would do to any other Digimon,” Kitusomon said, nudging Dracomon. He lowered his head, which Kitusomon climbed up on and stood there. Without warning, Dracomon leaped into the volcano. Kitusomon jumped off at the peak of the leap and hovered in the air, centered over the pit. “Now! God of war, god of fire, god of gods! Lend your power to me!!” The clouds joined together and began spiraling around, red lightning shooting down.

Dracomon landed in the volcano with a splash, shooting molten rock up around where Kitusomon was floating. “MagmaDracomon, ARISE!!!” Kitusomon yelled, raising her staff high up in the air. The lava below boiled. A gigantic red dragon (more like a Gyarados on fire XD) rose up from the flames. *Soon... very soon, the DigiDestined will meet their end....*

*********************************************************************

“Hurry, you guys! It looks like a storm is forming!” MoonGalaxiamon shouted, flying ahead of the group. They could see red lightning in the distance. Suddenly, the volcano up ahead erupted!

“A volcano?! What now?!” Jeff yelled, running as fast as he could.

“I... can’t... run... anymore!!” Mimi said, dropping to her knees. Jeff looked behind him, then quickly ran back and helped her up.

“We’ve got to hurry! For all we know, Kitusomon could be growing more powerful by the second!” he shouted, taking off again.

Matt was lagging behind. He just couldn’t run as fast with Heather on his back, but still gave it everything he had. Gabumon ran alongside him. “Matt, why don’t I just digivolve? We would get there a lot quicker!” he said.

“Good idea!” Matt said, taking out his Digivice.

“Gabumon! Digivolve to.......Garurumon!!”

Matt helped Heather get on Garurumon’s back, then climbed up himself. Garurumon took off, catching up to the others.

After a while, they finally reached the volcano. Tai looked to the top of it to see Kitusomon hovering above the pit, a bright red aura surrounding her.

“Arise, MagmaDracomon!! ARISE!!!” they heard her shout, then saw a huge red dragon rise up out of the volcano. Kitusomon set her feet on the top of his head, and without warning, the dragon hopped out of the volcano and slid down the side.

Jeff popped his laptop open. “Whoa.... MagmaDracomon is one of the most powerful Dark-Dragon-type Digimon ever. He uses the power of fire and lava to eliminate his opponents, and he’s another hot-headed Maxima Digimon!” he said, analyzing it.

Kitusomon, on top of MagmaDracomon’s head, laughed. “That’s right! Let’s see if you can beat this hot-footed beast!”

“Dragon Slave!!!” MagmaDracomon shouted, hurling a huge red-and-orange fireball at the group below.

Paula jumped to the front of the group and casted PSI Shield Sigma, causing the fireball to be absorbed into the light pink shield. She had to use a tremendous amount of energy to keep from collapsing.

“Ooh, you little... layer it on heavy, MagmaDracomon!!” Kituosmon yelled.

MagmaDracomon instantly doubled the fireball. Paula, running out of energy at a very rapid pace, doubled the strength of her shield. “Can’t.... hold up.... much.... longer....” she muttered, sweat running down her face.

MoonGalaxiamon fluttered up and out of the shielded area, and darted behind MagmaDracomon. Kitusomon took notice of this, and shouted, “MagmaDracomon, turn around and blast that dumb little pixie!!”

The hologram-planets appeared around MoonGalaxiamon and moved into a straight row. “Planetary Alignment!!” MagmaDracomon turned around to counter the attack, but was too slow and took the full impact of the giant silver beam. Unlike the last time, however, he didn’t burst into flames, he merely shook the attack off!

Now that MagmaDracomon had ceased his attack, Paula’s shield wore off and she dropped to the ground, unconscious.

“Paula!!” Ness yelled, running to her, Jeff and Poo in tow.

Jeff checked her pulse. “Whew... she’s breathing, but the amount of energy she put out to take that fireball really drained her. If she had used any more PSI to block the attack, it would have been fatal,” he said, wiping sweat from his forehead.

“What can we do?” Ness asked frantically.

“I don’t know if I have enough PSI left to use a Healing Omega, and we didn’t bring any Horn of Life or Lifenoodles...” Poo said, digging through his backpack.

Kitusomon glared at MoonGalaxiamon, fire in her eyes. “All right, I’ve had enough of this!! Get them, MagmaDracomon!!” she yelled.

Pokey, in his Spider-Mech, hovered down next to Kitusomon. “Wouldn’t it just be easier to destroy them yourself?” he asked, opening the glass door on top.

Kitusomon whacked him with her staff. “Why do you think I wasn’t able to destroy them earlier?!” she hissed. She turned to MagmaDracomon. “Forget that annoying little pixie, get rid of those kids!!”

MagmaDracomon, no longer in a tizzy from MoonGalaxiamon’s attack, turned to the DigiDestined.

Agumon, now completely recovered from the earlier attacks, walke dup to Tai. “You want I should digivolve?” he asked.

“Go for it!” Tai said, motioning to the other Digimon as well.

“Agumon! Warp-digivolve to.......WarGreymon!!” “Biyomon! Warp-digivolve to.......Phoenixmon!!”
“Tentomon! Wap-digivolve to.......HerculesKabuterimon!!”
“Palmon! Warp-digivolve to.......Rosemon!!”
“Gomamon! Warp-digivolve to.......MarineAngemon!!”
“Tokomon! Digivolve to.......Patamon! Patamon, warp-digivolve to.......Goddramon!!”
“Salamon! Warp-digivolve to.......Magnadramon!!”

Garurumon had just now caught up to the battle. Matt and Heather hopped off his back. Garurumon de-digivolved to Gabumon. MoonGalaxiamon zipped over to them. “Gabumon, we could really use your help,” she said.

“I don’t have enough energy left to digivolve....” Gabumon said, hanging his head.

MoonGalaxiamon hovered there for a minute, then turned around. “If that’s the case.... Matt, take Heather and get her out of here right now!” she shouted.

“What?! You’re crazy! I can’t just leave here and watch my friends be beaten by MagmaDracomon!” Heather shouted, clenching her fist.

“Heather, you’re weak. You’d be a lot safer if you went with Matt,” MoonGalaxiamon said, turning to look at her partner.

“I don’t care! I need to fight with you!” Heather’s crest began shining brightly. Gabumon felt his energy returning.

“Gabumon! Warp-digivolve to.......MetalGarurumon!!”

Everyone else, who had been battling roughly with MagmaDracomon, instantly felt fresh, as if they had just digivolved. On top of that, Paula woke up as well!

“Man, I don’t know what she did, but Heather just revitalized our Digimon!” Izzy commented.

Kitusomon snarled. “I knew I should have gotten rid of her when I had the chance...” she muttered under her breath. “I tell you what, why don’t we make this all-or-nothing?” This got a bunch of shocked stares from everyone else. “Why don’t the three most powerful DigiDestined and the two most powerful Chosen Children battle against me?”

“That’s it. She’s lost it,” Tai murmured.

Kitusomon cast a sidelong look at the leader of the DigiDestined. “So, how about it? I’ll give you five minutes to decide on your battlers!” she shouted, an hourglass appearing out of thin air.

Everyone gathered together. “What do you guys think? It sounds fair enough to me,” Tai said. Everyone nodded. “So who should fight?”

“Sheesh, you know you and Matt are gonna fight,” Sora muttered.

“But who should be the third one?” Izzy asked. “Any volunteers?”

Everyone shook their heads. “No way! I can’t go up against Kitusomon!” Joe said, waving his hands in defense.

*Eh, I expected that...* Tai thought. “So nobody else wants to go at it?”

“I will,” Heather said. “I’m the one that Kitusomon wants dead in the first place. On top of that, she still has my soul....” she said in the same lifeless, monotone voice she used when Kitusomon first took her heart crystal.

“I don’t think that’s a very good idea, what with the condition you’re in,” Izzy said, pointing out that her eyes were still glazed.

“I don’t care! I’m the one that Kitusomon wants, I should be the one to fight with Tai and Matt,” Heather said.

Izzy smiled. “Okay, if you really feel that way, Heather, Matt, and Tai will wight Kitusomon, along with....” Izzy stopped, realizing that Kitusomon had said ‘and two Chosen Children.’

“Hey, you guys know that Ness is gonna fight,” Jeff said, nudging the leader of the Chosen Four.

“Huh?” Ness muttered in response. “Oh yeh. But who else is gonna fight?”

Paula immediately stepped forward. “I will.”

“I don’t think that’s such a good idea....” Jeff said.

“What? It’s ‘cause I’m a girl, is that it? Sheesh, you sexist men....” Paula said, crossing her arms.

“No! That’s not it! I just....” Ness stammered.

“You just what?” Paula asked impatiently.

“Uhm, I just... uhh.... ya see....”

“I think there’s something he’s not telling us,” Tai said, nudging Matt.

“Hehehe....”

Ness glared at Tai and Matt. “Well, I.... Idunwantyoutogethurt! There, ya happy?!” he shouted, his face turning bright red.

“Whoa! Slow down, man!” Jeff said, poking his friend.

“Wait. It’s okay, I understand... but I can fight! I’m just as good as the rest of you!” Paula said, clenching her fist.

Ness sighed, seeing as she wouldn’t take ‘no’ for an answer. “Okay...”

“Time’s up! C’mon up, you little pests!” Kitusomon interrupted, the hourglass disappearing from view. “So... who’s going to put their lives at risk?”

Tai, Matt, Heather, Ness, and Paula stepped forward. “We are! Don’t think we’ll go easy on you!!” Tai shouted, clenching his fist.

“Alrigth. And just so we don’t get any unexpected help from your little friends....” Kitusomon pointed her staff at the other kids standing behind them. Dark energy shot into them, and they shrunk down, down, down.... until they were little plush dolls! Kitusomon smirked.

Ness clenched his fist so hard that his fingernails dug into his skin. “Okay guys, it’s all or nothing!” he shouted.

“Go get ‘em!” Tai yelled.

“Terra Force!!”
“Ice Wolf Claw!!”
“Cosmic Spiral!!”

Ness dug around in his yellow backpack, and took out two Magic Truffles. He handed one to Paula. Their PSI was instantly refilled. “Okay, let’s go! PSI Rockin’ Omega!!” A huge blast of blue-and-red energy combined with the Digimon’s attacks.

“PSI Thunder Omega!!” Paula shouted, summoning four huge bolts of lightning.

Kitusomon was blown back by the attack, but still barely scratched. “Not so strong without your other allies, are you? Nightmare Blaster!!” She shot out several powerful blasts of black lightning at the stunned kids, who just barely managed to dodge them. MoonGalaxiamon quickly darted out of the way, but WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon were way too slow and de-digivolved upon impact.

MoonGalaxiamon, out of breath, shot a furious glare at Kitusomon. She charged forward, her fist ready to punch the living daylights out of the dark queen. Kitusomon twirled her staff and whacked MoonGalaxiamon on the back, sendng her to the ground. She landed with a thud, her prism-like wings bent and ripped.

Heather quickly ran over to her fallen compainion. “MoonGalaxiamon! Are you alright?!” she asked, helping the tall Digimon stand.

“This is nothing. Parakkimon could have done worse...” MoonGalaxiamon said, clutching her arm which fell limp by her side.

Kitusomon looked at the two friends and pursed her lips, which then curled into an evil sneer. She reached at the crystal orb that was perched on top of her obsidian staff and took out the crystal that had come out of Heather’s soul. “Forgive me for breaking the precious moment, but I have something that I think you would want....” she said, holding out the crystal.

This got everyone’s attention. Heather blinked, her eyes still glazed. “My soul crystal....” Her eyes widened in horror as Kitusomon pulled her arm back and threw it high into the air.

“Oh no! Catch it before it hits the ground!!” Tai shouted, running after it. Time seemed to slow down as the fragile crystal plummeted toward the ground.

MoonGalaxiamon growled, then tackled Kitusomon, knocking her out of the air. They both hit the ground hard, and MoonGalaxiamon tried to pin Kitusomon’s shoulders to the ground so she could get some good punches in. Kitusomon, however, was way too strong and threw her staff at the falling crystal, like a javelin. Time nearly stopped as MoonGalaxiamon let go of Kitusomon and zipped toward the crystal. She managed to grab it just as the staff would have crashed into it. She did a double backflip and landed on the ground.

Tai, Matt, Ness, and Paula sighed in relief.

Kitusomon smirked, her eyes glowing bright red. She looked up at her staff, which suddenly glowed with a blood red aura, and sent it flying to the ground.

Before anyone could ask what had happened, the staff plunged down and smashed the crystal, shattering it into a million tiny pieces. In the process, MoonGalaxiamon’s hands got torn up by the microscopic shards of fragile glass.

Heather’s eyes opened wide, and she felt a sudden pain in her chest. The pupils disappeared out of her brown eyes and she collapsed on the ground, unconscious. Her skin turned pale, and she twitched just barely.

MoonGalaxiamon’s blue eyes snapped wide open. Upon seeing her fallen partner, tears welled up in her eyes. “No....” she choked out.

“Oh no...” Paula buried her face in her hands.

“It... it can’t be....” Matt muttered, eyes wide.

“Heather.... she’s....” Ness said, swallowing.

MoonGalaxiamon snapped her eyes shut, than ran at the pale-skinned girl who lay lifelessly on the ground. “NOOOOOOOO!!!!” she screamed. “HEATHER!!!” She kneeled down beside her, tears streaming down her face. She lifted her partner’s head up and lightly shook her. “Heather! W-wake up!! Please!! Don’t go!” she sobbed. She held the limp body close. “No....”

Kitusomon laughed evilly. “That’s the price to pay for challenging me!!” she said, grinning.

“Uh, Lady Kitusomon....” Pokey said, hovering behind her.

“What is it? You’re spoiling the fun!” Kitusomon hissed.

“Don’t you think that went a little far....?” the fat kid asked, scratching his tangled yellow mop of hair.

“Of course not! I got what I wanted, didn’t I?”

Tai, Matt, Ness, and Paula crowded around MoonGalaxiamon.

“Heather! Don’t do this!” MoonGalaxiamon kept saying. “Don’t do this to me!!”

“I can’t believe Kitusomon could do something so terrible!!” Tai said angrily.

Matt said nothing for a few minutes. When he finally spoke, all was quiet. “.....I’m going to kill her.”

“What?! That’s crazy! There’s no way you can...” Paula said, tears shining on her face.

“Listen. This.... EVIL creature KILLED one of my best friends. I’m not going to rest until she is dead and rotting with the other Dark Masters!” Matt shouted, clenching his fist.

“Whoa Matt, calm down buddy!” Tai said.

“Tai! You know how I felt about her! I am PERSONALLY going to make sure that Kitusomon goes down! Good. And. HARD.”

MoonGalaxiamon looked up at Matt. “It’s nice of you to help, but....”

“But what?!” Matt shouted, tears flowing freely.

“.....I have to do this myself,” MoonGalaxiamon said, fire in her eyes, a greater fire than there ever was. A final tear dropped from her eye and landed on Heather’s crest. It began glowing with an intense magenta light.

“.....You’re right.....” Matt said, hanging his head. His crest began glowing as well. Gabumon’s energy returned.

“Gabumon! Warp-digivolve to.......MetalGarurumon!!”

“You can do it, MoonGalaxiamon.....” Tai said, his crest giving off a bright orange light. Agumon looked up, re-energized.

“Agumon! Warp-digivolve to.......WarGreymon!!”

All of the tiny crests on the plushies began glowing in sync with the three others, and the rest of the DigiDestined and their Digimon were restored back to normal.

“Wh-what happened?” Mimi asked, replacing her big pink hat.

“Hey, look at MoonGalaxiamon! And your crests!” Jeff said, pointing at MoonGalaxiamon, who was now standing, proud and tall. All of their crests shot a different-colored beam at the Mega-level Digimon. An orange beam of Courage, red of Love, blue of Friendship, purple for Knowledge, green for Sincerity, navy for Reliability, yellow for Hope, pink for Light, and finally....

....The symbol of Confidence rose up from Heather’s crest and stopped in front of MoonGalaxiamon. She began glowing with a white light, MUCH brighter than Ness’s strongest PSI Flash attack.

“MoonGalaxiamon! Digivolve to.......”
The Mega-level Digimon began glowing gold. Millions of tiny symbols of Confidence dropped into her, and gold dust began circling her. Her hair grew out to her mid-back, and waved. Her clothing now consisted of a white angel-like dress (actually, more like that of Neo Queen Serenity e.e;) and a golden tiara with a crescent moon on it. Multiple golden wings folded out from her back, and a shimmering gold sash wrapped around her arms. A long staff shot out from her clenched fist, and had a crescent moon perched on top, with wing-shaped crystals sticking out from the side. A tiny pink heart appeared on her forehead.

“.......GoddessGalaxiamon!!!”

Everyone stared at GoddessGalaxiamon in awe as she hovered above them, a fuschia aura surrounding her.

Izzy grabbed Jeff’s laptop. “Whoa.... GoddessGalaxiamon is the last and most powerful form of Lunamon. With attacks like Goddess Fury, Supernova, and Lunar Eclipse, she just may be the most powerful Digimon of all! And yet another Maxima....” he said, his eyes shining.

Kitusomon only laughed. “You think I’m scared of another Maxima? Try me! Blade Storm!!” she yelled, shooting a shower of blades at GoddessGalaxiamon.

The 10-foot Digimon twirled her staff around rapidly, creating a shield that blocked *every*single*blade.* Kitusomon stared on in shock.

“What?! That can’t be!” she shouted, her black eyes opening wide.

“Kitusomon, I think you just may have met your match!” Ness said, grinning.

“Ahh... uhm, go, MagmaDracomon!!” Kitusomon yelled, pointing at GoddessGalaxiamon.

“Volcanic Eruption!!” MagmaDracomon shouted, the ground shaking. He rose up on the volcano below him, on the lava that was spurting out. He then released a HUGE fireball at the group.

GoddessGalaxiamon only held up her hand, and sent the whole fireball hurtling back at him. “I’ve had enough of you,” she said in an angelic voice. “Goddess Fury!” She swung her staff around, creating a burst of gold energy that slammed into MagmaDracomon, golden fire erupting around him. He howled in pain. “Supernova!” A gigantic blast of rainbow-colored energy now came from the tip of her staff, and turned the golden fire into multicolored psychic fire. Beams of many colors emerged from Magma Dracomon, and he dissolved with a final despairing scream.

Kitusomon looked on, stunned. *Oh no.... this is not good....* she thought when GoddessGalaxiamon turned to her.

“Help her out, gang! Use your strongest attacks!!” Tai shouted.

“Terra Force!!”
“Metal Wolf Claw!!”
“Starlight Explosion!!” “Mega Electro Shocker!!”
“Thorn Whipping!!”
“Ocean Love!!”
“God Flame!!”
“Fire Tornado!!”

Ness, of course, added PSI Rockin’ Omega. Paula answered with PSI Freeze Omega. Jeff lit his last Multi Bottle Rocket, and Poo summoned a PSI Starstorm Omega.

Finally, GoddessGalaxiamon raised her staff high in the air and shouted, “LUNAR ECLIPSE!!!” The moon above started glowing with a golden light and engulfed GoddessGalaxiamon in a silver column. The star crystal on the tip of her staff gave off an intense white light, and she thrust it forward. A huge beam of destructive energy with a 20-foot radius blasted from her staff, merging with the other attacks, and slammed into Kitusomon with over-powering force.

“NOOOOOOO!!! I can’t lose!!! Nightmare Blast-” Kitusomon was cut off by her own dissolving. “I’ll find a way to defeat you! You can bet on that!!” her voice echoed in the night.

Pokey stared on, amazed at what had happened. “Ehehehehe.... I’d better skedaddle!!” he said, rushing forward in his Spider-Mech. But it wasn’t budging. He turned around (to the best of his ability XD) and looked behind him. WarGreymon had grabbed hold of the back of his Spider-Mech. “Hey! L-leggo! You can’t...”

WarGreymon looked at Tai and Ness, who looked at each other and nodded. “Go for it, WarGreymon!” they shouted in unison.

WarGreymon smirked, then blew Pokey high into the sky with a Terra Force. He disappeared with a tiny sparkle.

Just then, all of the Digimon de-digivolved to their In-Training stages, with exception of GoddessGalaxiamon.

“So.... Kitusomon’s really gone....?” Sora said, blinking.

“Yeah... we did it!” T.K. shouted, hugging the nearest person which happened to be Kari. ( hehehe ;Þ)

“But it was an empty victory....” Matt said, his voice barely audible. Everyone looked at him in question, then looked down at Heather, whose head was resting in his lap. Her face was pale, and her eyes were closed.

“Wh-what happened to her?” Izzy stammered.

“Remember that crystal that came out of her when Kitusomon attacked her with Soul Steal?” Matt asked. Everyone nodded. “Well.... it got smashed.... that... witch Kitusomon destroyed it....”

Everyone’s eyes opened wide (by “everyone,” I mean the guys who were turned into plushies e.e;). “So... so that means....” Poo muttered.

“That...” Mimi swallowed the suddenl lump in her throat, “that Heather’s... g-g-g-gone....?” Matt hung his head. That meant it was a yes. “Oh no....”

“She looks asleep.... she can’t really be....” T.K. said, his vision blurring.

Izzy took her wrist between his fingers. “There’s no pulse.... I believe she is.....” He couldn’t say the words. Upon hearing this, T.K. started bawling.

Suddenly, a flash of light engulfed the area. Out of a round orb stepped a funny little old man who Poo thought to be the Star Master.

“It’s Gennai!” Tai said.

“So! You’ve defeated Kitusomon, I see. Good work. Because of your bravery, the Digital Gate is now clear and free to return home through,” he said.

“Yeah, but....” Paula said, wiping her eyes and looking at Heather.

“Hmm. You have a fallen friend?”

“Yes. Kitusomon stole her soul crystal-whatchamacallit and destroyed it...” Ness said, hanging his head.

“No problem! There is a way to revive someone who has been vistim of a Soul Steal, but it’s about as hard as turning a boiled egg into a raw egg,” Gennai said. The four Chosen Ones rolled their eyes at this, remembering how the Orange Kid had one phoned them in the middle of a battle to tell them about an invention that would turn cooked eggs into raw eggs.

“Great! How can we do it?!” Tai said, sprining up and grabbing the old man by the collar.

“Well, does the victim have a Digimon that has reached it’s Maxiam level?” Gennai asked, sweatdropping.

GoddessGalaxiamon clutched her staff. “Ah, so it is the legendary GoddessGalaxiamon, the goddess of all Digimon! Never thought to see you. Anyways, GoddessGalaxiamon can transfer her life energy into the victim through use of a Lunar Eclipse attack.”

GoddessGalaxiamon smiled, then summoned all of her energy. “Lunar Eclipse! Transfer my life energy into Heather!!” she shouted, glowing with a golden light. The dust from her aura floated into Heather.

“But I must warn you, once GoddessGalaxiamon revives Heather, she will die,” Gennai said. “I knew I forgot something....”

Tai facefaulted so hard, he fell over. “Why didn’t you tell us?!” he bellowed.

“It’s okay, Tai.... I would gladly give my life for Heather....” GoddessGalaxiamon said, the rest of her aura draining into her. Heather’s crest began glowing softly, and the color returned to her skin. She groaned softly, then opened her eyes which were no longer glazed.

“MoonGalaxiamon....? Where....” Heather muttered, sitting up. “Wh... what happened? How did all of you wake up? Where’s Kitusomon?!” she asked frantically.

“It’s okay, Heather. I killed Kitusomon.....” GoddessGalaxiamon said calmly.

“Who....? Hey, I know you.... you’re GoddessGalaxiamon, you were in my dream! Oh, I can’t believe it’s really you!!” Heather shouted, jumping up and hugging GoddessGalaxiamon around the waist.

“I haven’t got much time left. I transferred my life energy into you. Now that that’s gone, I will die....” GoddessGalaxiamon said, her voice weak and sorrowful.

“What?! But you can’t die!” Heather said. “I won’t let you!”

“I’m sorry.... I gave myself up to save you.... and.... I want you to.... always remember me....” GoddessGalaxiamon began dissolving.

“N....no! Don’t go!” Heather yelled, her eyes burning.

“Goodbye.... my single.... best friend....” GoddessGalaxiamon muttered, her dust caught on the wind.

“GoddessGalaxiamon! No!!” Heather shouted, dropping to her knees.

“I’m sorry that she couldn’t be saved, but there was no other way,” Gennai said solemnly.

Heather buried her face in her hands and began sobbing. Matt put one arm around her in sympathy, but was a bit surprised when she threw her arms around his waist. He blushed lightly and shot a glare at Tai when he began nudging him.

“Wait one second....” Gennai said. He took out a pink egg with yellow stars and moons, and a fuschia symbol of Confidence on it. A golden moon stuck out from the side like a handle, of sorts. “Heather Yakanori, for your great bravery and confidence, I present you with this Digiegg of Confidence.”

Heather stopped crying and looked up at the bright pink orb. *...Out of this egg will hatch.... Lunamon?* she thought, taking it in her hands.

“You may be wondering if a Lunamon will hatch out of it. True, when the baby reaches it’s Rookie stage, it will become Lunamon,” Gennai said.

“Oh thank you so much! Oh my gosh, I must be dreaming! Someone pinch me!” she shouted, hugging the egg. T.K. reached over and pinched her arm. “...Ow!” Everyone laughed.

“And now, I must be going. I have to finish cleaning out my toilet bowl,” Gennai said. “Now that the Digital Gate is back to normal and the island is renovating itself, the time of this world is in sync with that of the real world. So you only have two hours to say good-bye to your Digimon. Goodbye now.” Gennai disappeared with a flash of light.

“....Only two hours?!” Koromon exclaimed. “That’s not much time, I don’t think!”

“Well, we’d better get a move-on....” Tai muttered.

*********************************************************************

(PikaChan’s Note: This part is somewhat like the last episode of Digimon 01. So all of the good-byes are being said, and stuff. Mimi looks for Palmon, Matt plays his harmonica, etc....)

“Palmon!!” Mimi shouted, cupping her hands around her mouth. “Where are you?!”

Jeff looked up from his laptop to see Mimi running towards him, crying. “Hey Mimi. What’s wrong?” he asked her.

“I can’t find Palmon anywhere! I want to say good-bye to her but she’s nowhere to be found!!” Mimi said, bawling.

“Gee.... I’ll help you find her, okay?” he said, shutting his laptop.

Mimi looked up and smiled a little. “Thanks....”

********************************************************************

“I’m really going to miss you, Matt...” Gabumon said to his friend.

“Yeah.... I’m really gonna miss you too, Gabumon....” Matt said, taking out his harmonica. He began to play a long, slow melody that brought tears to Gabumon’s eyes. When he was done, he heard some soft clapping behind him. He looked over his sholder to see Heather standing there, holding her Digiegg. “Hey Heather.”

“Hi... Gabumon, I think Biyomon wanted to speak to you back there...” Heather said.

“Oh... okay...” Gabumon ran off looking for Biyomon. Heather sat down next to Matt.

There was an odd silence between them for a few moments, when Matt broke the silence. “So.... you’re going back to Sixton, huh? That’s quite a way away from Highton View Terrace.... (sp? o.o)”

“Yeah.... I’ll have to leave my Digiegg here, unless it hatches before we leave....” Heather said sadly.

“Well, I really don’t think we’ll be seeing much of each other in the future....” Matt said, sighing.

“Yeah.....” Another silence. “Hey Matt....?” Heather asked.

“Yes?”

“Well.... I just wanted to..... uhm, thank you....” she stammered.

“.....For what?”

“Well.... for everything, I guess.... you know... saving me when I was in the river.... trying to help me out when Kitusomon attacked....” She looked up at him. “Just..... for being there.”

A light blush appeared on Matt’s face. “Well.... I kind of owed it to you.... you know, for saving T.K.....”

“They’re gonna do it. Oh man, are they ever gonna do it!” Tai whispered, peering through the bushes.

Sora whacked him on top of his head. “Don’t start this again. Matt nearly killed you the first time!” she hissed.

“Well, you can’t blame me for speakin’ the truth....”

“You want truth?! I’ll give you truth!” Tai looked at her oddly. Sora grinned, then leaned over and brushed a quick kiss on his cheek.

Tai’s eyes opened wide, then he turned a bright shade of crimson. “Huh?! Uhm... uhh... ehh... wh-what brought that on?!” he stammered. “Not that I mind or anything....”

“You have no idea how long I’ve been wanting to see you do that!!” Sora said, holding in an earth-shattering amount of giggles. “Seriously though, I thought you were really brave back there, when Kitusomon had T.K. and Kari... and uhm... well, not only that, Dalimon sorta opened my eyes too, you know, with those dreams and all....”

“Ehehehe, I see...” Tai grinned, blushing.

Matt looked down at the Digiegg that Heather was holding. “Hey.... did that egg just.... move?” he asked.

Heather looked down at it. Sure enough, it was kinda wiggling around. “Hey! It... it’s hatching!!” Her grin got bigger and bigger until finally, the surface of it cracked slightly. The cracks got bigger and more appeared, untill finally an antenna tipped with a crescent moon poked out. A tiny purple blob made its way out of the pink egg. It had a star on it’s forehead and beady eyes. It looked at Heather and ‘smiled’ (actually, it’s eyes lit up). “Aww... it’s so cute! If I remember correctly, you’re a Kitamon, aren’t you?” Heather asked, it, picking it up. It seemed really happy to see her.

“Wow.... I’m really happy for you, Heather...” Matt said. “I mean... seeing your Digimon hatch at a time like this must be really lifting....”

Heather turned to him. “Thanks, Matt. That means a lot coming from you....”

“Go for it go for it go for it go for it!” Tai kept chanting. “C’mon c’mon c’mon c’mon.....” Sora rolled her eyes and giggled.

“Hey guys, what’s going on here?” a sudden voice behind them asked. It was Ness and Paula.

“Shh! We be spyin’!” Tai said, shmacking his hand over Ness’s mouth.

“Tai thinks Matt and Heather are gonna go into the legendary ‘liplock...’” Sora whispered, rolling her eyes.

“Aww, how cute!” Paula squealed. She peered over the bushes at them. Matt seemed to be a little jumpy, and Heather was holding a tiny purple Digimon. “Hey, Heather’s Digiegg hatched!”

“Whaa? Lemme see!” Ness said, squeezing between Paula and Sora.

“Uhm, Matt? Are you.... okay?” Heather asked.

“Ahh, uhm yeah.. Just a bit uhm.... well, I.... ehh....” Matt stammered. He had no idea of what to do in this situation (come to think of it, neither would I! n.n).

Heather smiled, amused. “Oh, and one more thing... ahem... thanks for being there for me when we were in Kaguyamon’s cave... (refer to the second side-story e.e;)” she sid, turning a little pink.

“Uhm, well... it was the least I could do....”

Heather was quiet for a few minutes, then leaned over and quickly pecked him on the cheek. She drew back instantly, and turned bright red (as did Matt, no da n.n;). Gradually, a huge grin found it’s way onto Matt’s face.

“What?! Just a peck?! No! No wayyyy!” Tai groaned.

“C’mon, at least she had the guts to do THAT much,” Paula, said, giggling her head off. “I think it was a good idea to set them up, Ness!”

“Yeah. They’re like uhm.... uhh....” Ness thought for a moment.

“Us?” Paula asked, turning a bit pink in the ears.

“Yeah! That’s it! ....waitaminute....” Ness flushed a bright shade of red.

“Egh, you boys. So melodramatic about things...” Sora said, her eyes fixed on the cute little scene in front of her. Matt and Heather had stood up and were walking back to the campsite. Matt reached for Heather’s hand. “Aww... that’s so sweeeeet!”

********************************************************************

“Have you all said your goodbyes?” Gennai asked.

Everyone nodded sadly, knowing that they wouldn’t see their Digimon for a long time. Mimi was still crying.

“Alright, all aboard,” the odd little man said, motioning to the railcar (I forget what it’s called >.<). Everyone slowly made their way on to it and took a seat.

“Well, you guys.... this is it,” Tai said. “We’re finally going home.... after all of this time, we’ll finally be able to see our families again....”

“I’m really going to miss Patamon...” T.K. said, wiping his eyes.

“No worries, you’ll see him again,” Paula said, leaning against the back of the seat.

Heather sat there quietly. “Well..... I know for sure, I’m going to miss all of you...” she said quietly.

“That’s right.... You’re going back to Sixton....” Sora said.

“Uhm, we’ll come visit you,” Ness said, knowing that her town wasn’t far away from Onett.

“Yeah, but.... the rest of you... I won’t see for a while.... I hope I’ll be able to wait until I move to Highton View Terrace...”

Everyone’s heads perked up at this. “Hey, that’s cool! You’re gonna be near us!” Izzy said.

Heather looked out the window and sighed. Kitamon and the other Digimon were getting smaller. On an impulse, she stuck her head out the window. “Goodbye, Kitamon! I’ll miss you!!!” she shouted.

Everyone was a bit surprised at this, then did the same, all the way to the Digital Gate. They were finally going HOME.

Epilogue (Heather’s POV)

I opened my eyes to find myself lying on my back. I was laying in the same spot that I had found my crest. Suddenly, I heard a voice from behind. “Heather? Are you okay?” It was my mom.

I sat up, feeling a bit dizzy, and there was a pain in my back. “Yeah, I’m fine.” Honestly, I wasn’t fine. Had all of that.... just been a dream? Did I really find the Crest of Confidence and warp to the Digiworld? Did I find Lunamon, and go through the battle of my life? Did I.... did I really find someone who would be there for me? I shook my head. I know it was only a dream.

“By the way, what happened to your hair?” my mom asked. My eyes popped wide open. I ran inside my house, pounced up the stairs and into my room, and looked in the mirror. Sure enough, my hair was short. It sent chills up my back just thinking about it, how I narrowly missed getting beheaded. Then, I saw *it.* There it was, hanging around my neck. My crest.... I smiled. It really wasn’t a dream.

One month later.....

I looked up at Highton View Terrace Elementary ((is that what it’s called? dun flame meh! >.<)). I was going to be in sixth grade this year. I clutched the crest around my neck, and took a deep breath. *I wonder if Tai and the others will be in my classes...* I thought, walking up the stairs. I stopped, and straightened out my purple shirt. I noticed a couple of guys looking at me from inside, then continued up the stairs.

Third period. So far, none of my friends were in my classes. I glumly walked to my locker, which had been issued to me earlier. After dumping my books in there, I stood up, just as a blonde-haired guy walked by me. He seemed oddly familiar. I think he must have noticed me too, because he stopped walking and turned around. My eyes opened wide, and I think my heart must have skipped a beat. Blue eyes. Awesome hair. Green shirt. “.....Matt?” I muttered.

“.....Heather?” he said.

We looked at each other for a moment. Things were definetely starting to perk up.....

*******************************************************************
A week later...

I was getting used to living in Highton View Terrace. I had found Tai and the others, who were more than happy to see me. Matt told me about everything that had happened in the last month.

Tai and Sora had been hanging out a lot, and the kids at school kept saying they were now officially an item.

Mimi had moved to California ((no flames, just a temporary brain fart x.x)) not long after we had left the Digiworld.

Izzy, of course, was taking all kinds of extra-curricular computer classes, so I never saw much of him, except for weekend picnics. He was also saving up to buy a new laptop.

Joe, after some questions from his brother Jim, was now looking to become a doctor, or so I hear.

T.K. was now in a peewee soccer league, after seeing Tai’s team win the championships. It seems he was inspired....

Kari was taking ballet classes. She was still the quiet little girl that I met in the Digiworld, only a bit more open.

Oh, and I got letters from Ness, Paula, Jeff, and Poo! Ness was doing just fine, he and Paula had gotten together a lot ((I just HAD to put that in! ^-^)). Jeff, like Izzy, was taking a bunch of computer classes at Snow Wood Boarding School, and even did a research report on the Digiworld for a class project! Poo spent most of his time doing that weird Moo Training, or whatever it’s called, and would be dubbed king of Dalaam if he managed to perfect the art (I also hear he was having a bit of problems...)

And Matt and me.... well, that’s a whole other story!!
