The sequel to Jeff in the Past

*knock knock knock* Ness jolted awake. He jumped out of bed, and picked up his bat. The knocking continued. Everyone was still asleep. *knock knock knock* Ness’s heart began beating louder, and his adrenaline was pumping. It was dark and all the windows were closed. There was a mild thunderstorm outside. Ness opened the door and raised his bat.

"Hey Ness! AHHH!"

"Wha-! Oh Jeff. Hi."

"MAN! Were you going to kill me or something?"

"Sorry, I just get edgy when I hear knocks in the night." Ness set down his bat.

"What are you talking about?! It’s 8:00 in the morning! I told you I’d be here around this time. Remember?"

"Oh yeah. I guess the storm is making it dark. *yawn* Well, come on in."

Jeff removed his yellow rain-jacket and hung it up. Ness turned on the light.

"So Jeff, what do you want to do? How long can you stay here? How did you get here?"

"I used the good ol’ Sky Runner. Of course, it broke down in Fourside, so I had to take the bus. I swear, that thing is like a Ford *snicker*..."

Ness chuckled. "I’m going to go change. Take something to eat if you want."

Ness ran upstairs and changed quickly. "Alright. So...what do you want to do? There’s not much to do here."

"Hmmm...I just thought of something I had to do. Now what was it?...CRAP! That’s it! Oh no!"

"What?"

"I HAVE to dismantle my dad’s time machine. He told me too."

"WHAT?! Why?"

"You don’t understand how fragile time is. In truth, that machine shouldn’t even exist! I don’t know how it works completely, but if it fell into the wrong hands...who knows what would happen."

"Yeah, I see your point."

"Wanna help me bust it up?"

"Sure!"

"Alright. Well, let’s go to Winters. Via your teleportation."

Ness and Jeff grabbed their coats and they went outside.

As they went outside Ness exclaimed, "Ah no! I have a report for school to do! I have to do research and everything! Sorry Jeff, but we’ll have to hang out another time."

"Oh alright. Can you take me home at least?"

"Oh yeah. Sure. Let’s go."

Ness used PSI Teleport Beta, and they were sent to Winters.

"Well Jeff, enjoy breaking that invention. I’ll talk to you later!"

"Yep. See you." Ness teleported away, and Jeff ran inside Snow Wood.

When Ness arrived back in Onett, the sun was shining.

"Hmmm. Weird. Wonder what the club house is up to."

Ness walked to the Library, but it wasn’t open. When he got up to the clubhouse, it was empty.

"Hmm. Oh well."

Ness decided to take a short cut home by walking through the trees. Then he noticed something. There was something carved on the tree. It said:

DIG HERE!!

Ness was a little hesitant at first. He ran to the clubhouse to get a shovel and began digging. He dug for about 15 minutes and made a three foot deep hole. Just as he was about to give up, he hit something. It was rusty and metal.

"Hope it’s not a water main." He continued digging. The object was revealed. It was a corroded metal can. Ness managed to open it. There was another can inside. It was welded shut. Ness took the can back home and smashed it open. Out fell a discolored paper. It read very faintly:

Jeff Its me Karen Theres HUGE troubell Use your machine too help PLEESE I need you Come too this dat May 2 1886 Come now I live in the same place

After Ness read this he started laughing and said out loud, "Ha ha. Okay, who’s the jerk that did this prank?" Then he noticed something at the very bottom. Out fell an old, deteriorated picture of Jeff.

Ness was a little stunned. "What the-? I can’t explain this. Well this probably is true. At least Jeff has his- OH NO!!"

Ness frantically ran to the phone and called Jeff.

"Hello! Maxwell Labs here!"

"Maxwell! I NEED to talk to Jeff NOW!"

"Oh hello Ness! Jeff’s busy dismantling the Time Machine right now. Is this phone tapped? I hope not.."

"Tell him to stop it now!"

"Huh? But why? Hey! Are you a Communist or something? Listen, the pinball parts help it operate better!"

"NO! Oh PLEASE get him on the phone!"

"Oh. Sorry Ness. Jeff said not to bother him under any circumstances. And-"

Ness hung up the phone. He grabbed the can, and ran outside and teleported to Winters once again.

When Ness arrived, he ran to the gates and pushed them open. He quickly ran inside the school. Ness asked one of the students, "Where’s Jeff?!"

He replied, "Uh, he’s in his lab. Over there. But it’s no admittance."

Ness ran to the door and knocked. "Come on Jeff!"

The door opened.

"Ness! Did you finish already?"

"JEFF! Read this!"

Ness handed Jeff the note. Jeff took off his radiation suit and read it. He looked up. He then read it again. Then again. And he read it once more.

"Where did you get this?"

"I found it buried under a tree! What are we going to do?"

"Ness! Don’t be that gullible! This was probably just put in the ground by some morons."

"But how do explain everything in that letter? And that picture of YOU that YOU gave to her?"

"Um, I, uh...I DON’T KNOW! Now get out of here! I have work to do."

"Jeff, you miss her don’t you?"

"What? What are you talking about?"

"Karen. You miss her."

"Sorry Ness, but I...have work to do."

"You know this letter’s true."

"I don’t want to screw around with time Ness. What’s done is done. Time’s very delicate. I can’t stop, no...I SHOULDN’T stop what has happened already."

"Never thought I say this but, that’s a heartless thing to say. Guess Paula’s character is rubbing off on me..."

Jeff was silent and put his hand in his pocket. He felt the pendant. THE pendant. It was on a silver chain. It was an oval shape, and was jagged, except the jags were rounded off and smooth. In the middle was a mystical blue stone. Jeff looked up and said softly, "Karen..." He continued saying, "Karen was special to me. It was weird....But the time machine is half way gone now. My dad won’t want to fix it if I tell him my reasons. I DO want to help her, Ness. I’m just trying to be scientific about it."

"Yeah, I guess that makes sense."

Jeff put his hand in his pocket. He felt the pendant. THE pendant. Jeff then said softly,
"Karen..."

"There MAY be enough complaints necessary to get there. It has enough energy to get there, but I don’t know about getting back. This thing’s nuclear, and you can’t go to the convenience store and buy plutonium."

"Hmm."

"Well let’s see. If this is true, let’s think of some things that have gone wrong." Jeff was silent. "I can’t think of anything. Follow me to the school’s library. We’ll look up the history of Onett and see if anything went wrong in 1886."

The two entered the school’s library. It was huge and full of computers and books. Jeff found the exact location of a book called "Eagleland Town History". He opened up to Onett.

"Let’s see. Hmm. According to this...Onett had the most successful year ever in 1886. AND LOOK! Here’s Karen’s name under the residents of the town! I don’t get it."

"Guess you WERE right Jeff. It must have been a hoax. Some how..."

"No Ness. I don’t think it’s a hoax. There HAS to be another explanation."

They walked out of the library. They encountered one of the students.

"Hey Jeff! You lost some weight since last night! So, where’d you go?"

"What ARE you talking about?"

"I saw you go in your time machine last night. You sure looked fat though. Who were you with? Maybe it wasn’t you...Well, talk to you later! I’ve got work to do."

Ness and Jeff looked at each other.

Jeff said, "Could it be?-"

Ness replied, "It HAS to be-"

"POKEY!" they both said together.

"This changes EVERYTHING!" said Jeff.

"So now what?"

"Hmm. I don’t know. I wonder why Pokey chose that time period. Coincidence?"

"I don’t think so. There are so many other places he could go. Why would he go to 1885?"

"Well...I...I KNOW! The Sky Runner was attached to the Time Machine. PLUS, the controls were set to September 7th, 1885, Onett, because I never changed them. Pokey, being the idiot that he is, didn’t know what to do, so he just managed to push the engage button."

"But the note says May 2nd, 1886."

"Hmmm...Good point. Maybe he messed with something. Or he stayed there for eight months then made his move. But at any rate, we gotta get Pokey out of there!"

"But wait a minute! How did the time machine get back?"

"Well it’s hard to explain. There are two modes: One sends YOU and the Time Machine into the era you chose. The other mode is when the Time Machine sends you to the time period, but the machine stays behind. The only way for you to get back is if there are two people, and the person who is in the chosen era, they have to stand in the exact spot were they arrived. Pokey must have chosen Mode 2 on accident. I was just testing with it, and there are still some bugs in it. But at any rate, Pokey is in the past. And we- Well, we’re in a time tangent."

"Uh I think I get it. What’s a tangent?"

"Okay...Because Pokey altered the past, the past as we know it is being erased. The time we’re experiencing right now really shouldn’t exist because Pokey altered the past. Who knows, if we use the time machine to go 15 minutes in the past, the world as we know it will be completely different, but normal to everyone else. That’s my theory."

"Um, I think I get it. So it’s like the past as we know it is gone or altered, and Pokey could have changed the past so everyone in the future will worship him?"

"I guess you could say that. I hope I can fix the time machine."

"Hey! How about we use that Mode 2 thing you were talking about? I could operate it from here while you go in the past. Or vice-versa..."

"Good idea, but it won’t work."

"Huh? Why?"

"Because when you try to get me to come back, it won’t work. The reason is because this time we’re experiencing right now, SHOULDN’T exist. The year 199X in the year 1886 might possibly be completely different then what we’re experiencing now...That didn’t make sense did it? Well I guess time doesn’t make sense.."

"I guess so. But you HAVE to save this girl! If Pokey did go into that time era, maybe we can go there and defeat him...for good."

"I doubt that we’ll defeat Pokey, but Karen has to be saved. Alright, let’s go to the lab. Put on the radiation suit."

Ness and Jeff put on the radiation suits that were in front of the lab’s door. Once they put them on, they walked inside.

"There it is, Ness. I hope I can repair it."

"Will we both be able to go?"

"Of course we can both go, but there may not be enough energy to get us back."

"So we may be stuck there forever?"

Jeff tinkered with the machine and replied, "Maybe..."

"Hmmm...Why can’t you tell your dad? Just say someone got a hold of the time machine and they probably messed up time. Mention it was Pokey. THEN he’ll probably let you."

"I don’t know where he is. He went traveling on a science conference or something. This is something that will have to be done on our own."

"Could Apple Kid help?"

"Hmmm. I guess so. I’m not sure what he could do. Although he DID make part of this machine. Yeah, go get him. I’ll see what I can do from here."

"Aye aye! I’ll be back!"

Ness ran outside and teleported to Twoson.

When Ness arrived he quickly went to Apple Kid’s house. But he first encountered Paula. She was just leaving Burglin Park.

"Ness!" she called, "Hi!"

"Oh, hi Paula. Is Apple Kid home?"

"I haven’t seen you in so long-Apple Kid? I think he is. Why do you need to see him?"

"Oh something’s wrong with the past. Come on."

"Okay."

Paula followed Ness to Apple Kid’s house. Ness knocked on the door.

*knock knock* "Hope he’s home."

"Why? Tell me."

Apple Kid opened the door. "Ness! And, Paula. Hi! So, what’s up?"

Ness replied, "There’s something wrong with time."

"Huh?" said Apple Kid.

Ness tried to explain what Jeff said, "...So we’re in like a time, uh, tangerine or something."

"Hmm. You better take me to Jeff."

"Alright. Coming Paula?"

"I guess so. I’d like to know what’s going on."

The two lined up behind Ness and they teleported back to Winters.

When they arrived, they quickly ran inside the school. All the kids looked up from their studying. Ness knocked on Jeff’s lab door. Jeff opened the door and said, "Ahh, so you all came!" He took off the radiation helmet.

"So Jeff, what the heck is going on?" asked Apple Kid.

"Alright, some of it doesn’t make sense." Jeff explained about the note, Pokey, and the Time Machine.

"...So, we’re sort of in a weird situation," concluded Jeff, "Here, I’ll go get that history book and show you Onett in the past. It explains why we’re in a tangent."

Jeff ran to the library, grabbed the book, and ran back.

"Alright. Let’s see, Onett...Onett...Onett? Where the heck is Onett? Whoa! The pages! They’re disappearing!"

"Huh?!" all three said together.

"The pages of this book. They're disappearing. Guys, this time tangent we’re in right now is becoming unstable. The TRUE past is now starting to affect OUR time! This true past is the one Pokey altered!"

"What do we do?" asked Paula.

"We HAVE to get out of here! Before our whole world changes!"

The history book vanished into nothing.

"Hurry guys!" exclaimed Jeff. He threw them radiation suits, "Quickly! Put those on and follow me!"

Ness, Paula, and Apple Kid frantically put on the radiation suits and followed Jeff downstairs to the time machine.

"Will we all fit in that space?" asked Apple Kid.

"I think so," replied Jeff.

"Yeah, me too. If we don’t, I- AHHHH! ACK! Ohhh!" moaned Ness in pain.

"NESS! Wh-what’s wrong?" asked Paula with great concern.

"I-I don’t know...ohhh. It feels like...Jeff! What’s going on?!"

"Oh no! Because Onett apparently doesn’t exist anymore, YOU were never born! As a result, time is taking you away! Oh man! Guys! Get in!"

They all crammed into the time machine. Jeff set the controls to May 1st 1886, and activated the machine. They began their journey.

Paula woke up first.

"Ohhh. What happened? Ah, the Time Machine...Ness? Ness?!"

Apple Kid and Jeff were the next to wake up. Jeff said, "Whew. Well, we’re here guys...I think."

"Ness?! Where’s Ness?" asked Paula frantically.

"Ahh. Ow! I’m right under you!" replied Ness.

"Oh Ness! You’re alive! Thank goodness!"

"Yeah...Hey Jeff, can we get out of here now?"

"Yep. Here we go."

Jeff opened the Time Machine’s pod door. The whole group was shocked at the environment. They threw off their radiation suits.

"What the-? Hey Jeff!" exclaimed Ness, "This isn’t Onett...I think."

"Of course this isn’t Onett! This is Winters! Winters in the year 1886. You’ll have to teleport us to Onett."

"Okay. What about the Time Machine?"

"Well, we’ll have to hide it here. Help me push this thing behind those pine trees."

Everyone pushed the Time Machine behind the trees. The machine was very large. It had a pod that was somewhat bigger then the Phase Disorter, and had computers and wires hanging from everywhere.

"Jeff," said Apple Kid.

"Yeah?"

"Is there enough energy to get us back to our own time?"

"Um, I don’t know. We can’t worry about that now, we have to go to Onett."

"Alright guys," said Ness, "Let’s go!"

Ness used his teleportation and they were all sent to Onett.

They landed behind some trees.

"Looks the same," said Ness.

As they walked out of the trees they saw an old bustling town. However, there were fires burning and people were screaming.

"Whoa!" shouted Ness. They continued to walk aimlessly.

"Okay guys, we can’t come into contact with Karen," explained Jeff.

"Why not?" asked Paula.

"Because we may stop her from burying that can, and then we will never get here. The whole time stream will become screwed up."

"I see." said Paula.

"Okay guys, we should find Pokey," said Apple Kid.

"Right," said Jeff, "Follow me."

They walked back into the trees to search for Pokey. They wound up ending back into the city.

"Hmm, maybe he’s hiding out here one of these buildings," reasoned Jeff.

"But a lot of these buildings are on fire," said Ness.

"He HAS to be here! Look at all this havoc!"

People tried running to Twoson, but appeared to be zapped when they tried to reach the border. The group was amazed. Then two kids with blue faces came towards them. They were dressed very western, except the blue face made them look odd. They appeared to be about 10 years old. They stared at the group in the middle of the street. A crowd started to gather.

One of them spoke, "Are...you...Jeff? Are...you...Ness?"

Ness and Jeff both replied, "Yes."

"Ahhh! They’re here! They’re here!" screamed the kids in unison as they ran around in circles.

"They’re going to stop Master Pokey with his plan!" said one of the kids.

"Pokey WARNED you about these guys! I told you to listen to him!"

"Pokey will be so upset at us!" said the other kid in tears.

"Don’t just sit there and cry! Help me get rid of them! This will get us points with Pokey!"

"Heh heh! YEAH!"

"Hold on. YOU think you can beat...US?!" asked Ness.

The kids were silent. Then they pulled out two huge swords, which appeared to be about 8 feet in length. One sword was glowing, and the other had an electrical charge surrounding it.

"WHOA!!" said the whole group.

"They’re scared!" said one kid, "Let’s charge, brother!"

The two little kids came charging at them.

"Apple Kid!" shouted Ness, "Get out of here! We’ll try to defeat these guys!"

Apple Kid quickly ran away. Paula tried PSI Psychic Shield Epsilon. The shield surrounded the whole group. Ness used PSI Rockin Omega. The rays sent the two kids reeling backwards, but their swords became bigger. Jeff frantically searched himself for a weapon. All he could find was a Big Bottle rocket, and a small laser gun. He pulled out the laser gun, and started shooting at one of the kids. The kid with the glowing sword deflected the beam. The kid drew back his glowing sword and slashed Jeff. It caused him massive damage.

"Jeff!" yelled Ness.

"Ohhh.." replied Jeff.

Ness tried PSI Lifeup Gamma on Jeff. Jeff felt much better, but he really couldn’t do anything. He decided to spy on the enemies for weaknesses. Paula used PSI Fire Omega on the two kids.

"AHHHH! HELP! HELP! WATER! WATER!" screamed the kids in pain.

"Ah ha! Take that you brats!" yelled Paula. She then tried PSI Freeze Omega.

"Paula! NO!" yelled Jeff.

But it was too late. The Freeze hit the kids and they became revived. Their swords also had fire and ice encircling them.

"Guess I got carried away," said Paula.

The two kids looked furious. One jumped on the other’s shoulders, and they double slashed Ness with their swords. The attacked caused significant damage.

"AHHHHH!" screamed Ness.

Ness then used PSI Flash Omega.

"AHHH MY EYES! MY EYES!" they both yelled.

They then started slashing each other with their swords.

"Paula! Attack them while they’re down," yelled Jeff.

Paula then used PSI Fire Omega again.

"AHHH! It feels like...burning!" yelled the twins.

Ness tried PSI Rockin Omega once again. The rays blasted the twins in agony.

"Guys! Concentrate on their swords! They seem to have a mind of their own!" called Jeff.

Paula tried PSI Freeze on the glowing sword, and Ness used PSI Rockin Omega on them. The swords were growing weaker, but came out and slashed Paula and Ness. Ness was growing very weak, and had little PSI.

"Finish them, Paula," called out Ness weakly. He then used the last of his PSI for lifeup for Paula. Then he collapsed.

Paula tried PSI Fire on the Electric sword. The electric sword shattered, but the glowing one became stronger. She tried PSI Thunder Omega, and luckily, four huge blasts of lightning zapped the sword. The sword exploded after the attack.

"Ahhh! They beat us brother!" said one kid as he tugged the other’s shirt.

"Settle down! We have to tell Pokey about this! Hurry!"

Jeff thought, 'Pokey eh? Hmm...yes! I got it!'

Jeff activated his watch, and it shot out two metallic marbles at the kids. The marbles stuck to their clothing.

"Yes!" said Jeff triumphantly, "Those tracker bugs will tell us exactly where Pokey is!...Ness! Oh no!"

Jeff came over to Paula, who was attending to Ness.

"Is Ness okay?" asked Jeff.

"He took a lot of damage. I hope he gets better..." A rainbow colored light then surrounded Ness, and he woke up.

"Ness! You’re alright! Thank goodness!" said Paula as she hugged Ness.

"Uh, yeah. Are they gone?" Ness got up.

"The swords are, but the kids ran away," explained Paula.

"Oh. Where’s Apple Kid?"

Jeff replied, "Hmm, I don’t know. Let’s find him."

The crowd of people dispersed. The group searched in the trees for Apple Kid. They found him talking to someone. He was talking to Karen!

"Apple Kid!" yelled Jeff.

"Yeah, and I ran because these kids-Jeff! Over here!" said Apple Kid.

Jeff, Paula, and Ness ran to him. Jeff spoke, "Apple Kid! We got rid of the kids and-K-Karen?!"

"Oh Jeff! I can’t believe it worked!" cried Karen.

"You buried the can."

"Yes I did. I told you to come tomorrow, but I guess you couldn’t wait."

"Uh no. We couldn’t. Oh! These are my good friends Apple Kid, Ness, and Paula."

"Nice to meet you all."

The group nodded. Paula then asked, "So Karen, what is going on here?"

Karen replied, "I don’t know. I was out near Giant Step one day when I heard some loud noises. I saw some flashes in the distance. I went to go see what it was. I ran to an open field. There, I saw this fat kid in a spider machine, with a whole group of strange looking people. In fact, I don’t even think they were people! There were two little kids next to the fat kid. The fat kid said, ‘Ahh! Someone finally found out about me! Hmm, she looks like a good one! Go get her! She can’t let anyone know about me!’ The two little kids came after me. I quickly ran away. I hid in the forest. But then, all of those strange ‘people’ started attacking people. They burned farms and houses. And then they..."

"What did they do?" asked Apple Kid.

"They...kidnapped my family. Now I’m all alone. I’ve been hiding in the Giant Step caves for a week. I got food from the destroyed general store. But that fat child has taken all the food, and demands people’s money and praise in order to have a piece of bread. He’s destroying Onett! But I can’t understand why..."

"Oh Karen..." said Paula.

Jeff was enraged. "Pokey’s done too much! Let’s go find him and defeat him!"

"Yeah!" everyone shouted. Karen was a bit confused.

Jeff then explained, "Okay, my watch is indicating where those kids are. They are approximately 1 mile away from where we are due north, and they don’t seem to be moving. So, follow me guys." The group walked for 30 minutes until Jeff told them to stop.

Jeff said, "Well, there should be something around here." But all that could be seen was fast hilly land. "According to my watch, these kids are 200 yards away from us. Hmmm."

Ness looked back at the town. There was smoke rising from it, and soft screams could be heard. They sky was becoming darker, and the air becoming colder. Ness wandered around for a bit and said, "Where is Pokey! Man! I really want to get that guy!" Ness stamped his foot on the ground. He expected it to be soft, but the ground was hard and metal like.

"AHHH! Ouch!" yelled Ness, "Hey, Jeff, see what’s under here."

Jeff uncovered the long prairie grass and the thin topsoil. There, he discovered a metal plate.

"I can’t believe it," said Jeff, "Pokey constructed an underground base!"

"What?" asked Karen.

Jeff, Ness, and Paula explained their adventure to clarify who Pokey was. Then Jeff explained about the time machine situation.

"Oh. I...think I get it."

"It doesn’t matter," said Jeff, "Let me scan for anything that’s electronic around here. That will tell us the electronic opening to this...place. Hang on a sec." Jeff activated his watch, "The only electronic thing around here is...me, and...something 50 yards from here. The group walked to the area. Ness uncovered the dirt. There was a control pad with only the numbers 0.

"Geez, I guess Pokey’s not as dumb as we thought," said Apple Kid, "How are you going to decode it Jeff?"

"I...I don’t know." Jeff pushed just one zero and then a door came up from the ground and opened.

"Er, I take back what I said," said Apple Kid. They all walked in door. After walking down several steps, they reached a dimly lit narrow hallway. There was no other way to go except straight. The group ran quickly down the hall.

Suddenly, they ended up in a huge dome. The dome looked rather empty. There was a railing platform around the dome about one story high. The group saw some people at the end of the dome. They continued to walk, then they stopped. They encountered Pokey, and the two twins. Pokey was in his heavily armed vehicle. The twins that Ness, Paula, and Jeff fought were next to him.

"P-p-pokey!" uttered one of the twins, "T-they’re here! AHHH!"

Pokey looked right at the group. The machine with Pokey inside came closer to them. Then he said, "Hey Ness! I didn’t think you’d find me. But knowing your stubbornness, it doesn’t surprise me."

"What are you doing here?" asked Ness.

Pokey sighed and replied, "Do you really want to hear the WHOLE story?"

"Yes," replied Ness.

"Are you sure?"

"YES!!" shouted everyone. The shout made Pokey reel back a little.

"Okay. Did you ever get that letter I sent to you?"

"Yeah," answered Ness.

"Okay, well, I used this thing I’m in right now to go 20 years in the future. The world was peaceful. No over-ruling dictators. But I became sickened when I realized that geek Jeff became an international hero for engineering a practical use for fusion power..."

"Cool," said Jeff.

"I also found out he made a time machine. But he stupidly destroyed it. That’s when I thought, ‘If I had a time machine, I could go in the past and alter history. Then the whole world would love ME!’. As I thought about it, I encountered all these creatures and deformed people who were horribly beaten by you guys when Giygas was in power. I decided to take them all with me. I tried going to the year 1200, but this piece of crap that I’m in could only go to 199X. Then I realized that I could ‘borrow’ Jeff’s time machine. I went to the school at night. One kid saw me, but didn’t say anything. When every one was asleep, I brought everyone that came back with me from the future. We all were crammed in that tiny room. I had no idea how to operate it. So I just pushed a button, and before I knew it, we were all in they year 1885. That’s what the screen said. So I decided to take out Onett. I used this thing to go there. The creatures and people I brought with me also brought their technology from the far future. So we made an underground base. Then I unleashed my attack on Onett. I AM a Guru of Time, even though the time stuff on this thing doesn’t work any more. But it says it can maintain my chronological structure, no matter WHAT I do to the past. But I don’t know what the heck that means..."

"It means he can do what ever he wants to the past, but HE’LL still exist. Even if he kills his distant ancestors, he will still exist," explained Jeff.

"Really? Sweeeeet!" said Pokey.

"What have you done with my family?!" demanded Karen.

"YOUR family? Oh, they’re merely slaves like the others. They’re helping construct a secret project."

"And what would that be?" asked Apple Kid.

"It’s a secret, you smelly moron! But I’m going to destroy you anyway...it’s a new time machine project. Once they’re done, we’re throwing them in an unknown era. In fact, the project IS done! Wow, how fun. The machine will activate in T-Minus....30 minutes. Sweeeet!"

Pokey paced around a bit, then examined Karen and Paula. "You know, I could use a girl around here. Or maybe two...come on Paula, get that other broad to join me. You BOTH know you’re not going to win. So why don’t you give yourself the honor of defeating the hero of the world Ness, and his loser friends."

"No way Pokey!" shouted Paula, "We defeated Giygas, so we can REALLY destroy YOU!"

"Oh really? <*chortle*> Is that what you think? Well, okay. But how about you defeat my friends, before you defeat me."

Suddenly, all the creatures from Ness’s adventure emerged from the platform. There were even some new and mutated creatures. They look badly beaten up, but there were hundreds of them! And they were all willing to fight.

"Uh...get ready guys!" Ness surrounded Karen with the Power Shield. Paula used PSI Fire on a huge row of creatures. They went reeling back. Some were defeated instantly, but hundreds more continued descending on them. Jeff took out his laser gun and was shooting frantically everywhere. It defeated some of the weaker creatures, but the strong creatures laughed. Ness used the Power Shield for Apple Kid. The group was in the very center of the dome, as hundreds of creatures descended toward them from every direction.

"What do we do guys?!" shouted Jeff.

"I-I don’t know! Just keep attacking!" replied Ness.

Ness, Paula, and Jeff continued to fight. It seemed like as more creatures were defeated, the more new creatures formed. Karen found an opening between all the monsters. She quickly ran through it. She stopped and came to a computer. She looked at it dumbfounded.

"What do all theseTHINGS do?" she asked herself. She could hear the group battling in agony in the background.

"Why aren’t there any words? There is one word. It says Hol-lo-gram? I wish I paid more attention in the school. " Karen blindly pushed the button. Suddenly, all the creatures dissipated.

"Huh? What happened?" asked Jeff.

"NO!" cried Pokey, "My computer generated holograms are gone! What a rip!"

There were only 5 REAL creatures remaining. They quickly ran away.

"Alright Pokey, enough is enough," said Ness boldly, "We’re taking you home."

"What?! Who are you, my mother? Ha ha! Hardly. No, you’re not taking me home. I’m taking YOU home - to your grave!"

Pokey charged forward in his heavily armed device. Ness, Paula, and Jeff took significant damage.

"Ahhh! Ack! Karen? Karen!" shouted Jeff.

Karen was still by the computer. Pokey then started chasing her. She ran as fast as she could throughout the dome.

"Hang on Karen!" shouted Paula. Paula tried PSI Freeze Omega on Pokey. He stopped cold. Karen ran back to the group.

When Pokey recovered he said, "Grrr! You guys are truly annoying. I think I’ll just cut to the chase. Time to unleash my plan."

Pokey pushed a few buttons, and a missile emerged from the center of the dome.

"Hey? Where’s Apple Kid?" asked Jeff, "Whoa! Hurry guys! Move!" Everyone moved back. Apple Kid was nowhere to be found.

"See," said Pokey, "when people learn of my TRUE power, they are bound to REALLY obey me! And I’ll make sure YOU guys don’t exist in the bleak future!"

"And what will you do?" asked Ness.

"Me? Well, I’m going to go back to the future. See how my world has become. He he. Don’t you guys get it? Giygas has always been in the earth. As the earth grows older, Giygas grows stronger. You see, Giygas was DISCOVERED 10 years from 199X. Then they unearthed a scroll saying that you idiots will save the world from Giygas. That scroll was from the Apple of Enlightenment, who was a brother to Giygas. They had disputes on how the world should be. Should it be bad or good. The Apple of Enlightenment chose good, and Giygas chose bad. But the Apple of Enlightenment was much weaker than Giygas. The only way he could stop his older brother is through something unexpected. That would be YOU guys. So the Apple of Enlightenment killed himself and left his power on 8 spots on the Earth. Those were SANCTUARIES for the Apple of Enlightenment. The Apple of Enlightenment decided to make HIS sanctuary, YOUR Sanctuary. He then left a prophecy that would be discovered YEARS later by the Apple of Enlightenment’s kinsman. That kinsman was Buzz Buzz. Giygas found out about the Apple of Enlightenment’s plan in 199X. He couldn’t destroy the spots, because they were connected directly to the Earth. Giygas then realized about the "chosen ones". Giygas was frightened. So he started to put his followers on the Earth, and had REALLY powerful monsters guard the Sanctuaries. Giygas wreaked havoc across the world! Until the year 200X, when Buzz Buzz arrived. Buzz Buzz was sad to realize that he was too late to avenge his ancestor. But he could go back in time and tell YOU of the Prophecy so you could save the world, yadda yadda yadda. So you see, Giygas has ALWAYS been here. I’m just going to unleash his wrath in full force, and that will be by destroying you!"

"Wow," said Ness, "That makes a lot of sense. But you won’t destroy us. We defeated Giygas, so we can really defeat YOU!"

"Don’t get so cocky, Ness. Look at this toy I have here." Pokey hovered around in the air with his machine. "I can detonate this whenever I want! Say, that’s a good idea. Bye bye!"

"What?!" shouted the whole group.

Pokey pushed a red button.

"Wha-?! What happened?! NO!" yelled Pokey in despair.

The group sighed with relief.

"How is this possible!?" Then a voice said, "Nothing’s impossible."

"Apple Kid!" shouted Jeff, "We knew you were up to something!"

"Yep! He he. Well Pokey, you’ll be happy to know that this little base of yours will disintegrate from the time stream in 22 minutes. Don’t bother trying to change the controls, they’re already manually set. And destroying the computer won’t do you any good. The program is already set in time stream. Soon you’ll be thrown back in your silly little era."

"You-you’re bluffing!" Pokey look down at his controls, "You, you’re not. AH! NO! NOT AGAIN! Well, heh heh. You screwed yourself too, Apple KID!"

"Wha-?", asked Apple Kid in amazement, "What..What do you mean?!"

"Ha ha! I thought you were smart! You locked the time stream! Time travel will no longer be possible in 22 minutes! BWA HA HA HA HA!"

Apple Kid’s face went pale.

"Ha ha! Well, might as well use what’s left of my powers while I can. See you around guys! HA HA HA HA!"

Pokey disappeared in a flash. When he disappeared, many Onett townspeople appeared out of nowhere. There was utter confusion.

The facility started to shake. Ness yelled with his lungs (and his mind) "Everyone! This place is going to collapse! Follow me!"

Everyone followed Ness, Jeff, Paula, Apple Kid, and Karen amazed.

Everyone left the base, and it was starting to disappear. The clouds lifted, and peace was restored. But the friends had only 10 minutes to return to Winters and go back to 199X.

The townspeople chattered, and spread out everywhere. Karen called for her parents. Then they were seen in the distance.

"Karen!" shouted her mother.

Karen quickly ran to her mom and dad. "Oh, Mamma! Papa! I’m so glad you’re safe!" She and her parents embraced.

She then looked at the four friends and said, "Thank you so much for bringing my parents back, and for making the town normal again. I don’t know what to say."

"No problem," said Ness.

"And thank YOU Jeff. For having the courage and strength to come here and help me." Ness, Paula, and Apple Kid backed off. Karen kissed Jeff’s cheek. He blushed greatly.

"Oh..well..I.." Jeff was at a lost for words.

"Jeff!" yelled Apple Kid from a distance, "We have to go! We only have 5 minutes!"

Jeff nodded, and quickly said to Karen, "I’ll miss you so much. Try to make history. I’ll look you up." Jeff smiled, clasped the pendant, and ran to Ness.

"Okay guys! Let’s go! Quickly!" Jeff took one last look at Karen, as Ness teleported everyone to Winters.

They arrived in Winters instantaneously. There was only 3 minutes left! There was a blizzard and the friends were blinded by the snow.

"Oh no!" yelled Apple Kid "How will we ever find it! No!!"
Ness and Paula came up with an idea. "Guys! Keep holding on to each other’s hands!" Paula and Ness used telepathy to locate the Time Machine. Within seconds, they found the Time Machine, opened it, and entered it.

"Quickly Jeff! Only 2 minutes!" yelled Apple Kid frantically.
"Okay okay okay. I’ll just swap the times to our times. It’ll be like we never left. Alright! Oh no!"
"What’s wrong," everyone asked simultaneously.
"All the power’s gone! We’re stuck here!"
"What?!" Paula and Ness together.

"Fear not Jeff! I swiped some fusion tubes from Pokey, and he got them from the future. I think they were engineered by you, so they MUST be good!" said Apple Kid smiling.

"Sweet! I hope this works." He inserted one of the tubes in the energy canister, and the energy was maxed out.

"Alright! Go machine, GO!" Jeff activated the machine. And they were blasted back to the future.

When they arrived they quickly got out of the machine. Everything was normal, like they never left.

"That was quite an adventure, huh guys?"
Everyone nodded.

"Well, let’s all keep in touch," said Ness, "Do you want us to hang out with you for a while Jeff?"

"What? Oh, no. That’s alright."
"Okay. Well, we’ll see you later."
"Yes. Goodbye, Jeff," said Paula.

"Let me know when your dad gets back from his trip," added Apple Kid. Ness teleported everyone to Twoson.

Jeff looked at the clear blue sky. He put his hand in his pocket and pulled out the pendant. He held it to his chest, and smiled. Then he ran inside, and continued his successful life.
