The Coming of a New Power

Another EarthBoundÔ Story

By: EBounding (EB Expert)

"So...tired," said Ness to himself. He was up real late. Around 3 in the morning. He was watching late night info-mercials. "WHY CAN’T I SLEEP?" Ness yelled to himself. He continued watching TV. That’s when the living room became distorted with wavy blotches of color. He soon was in a different world, and was face to face with a horrible creature. A creature far worse then Giygas. He stood face to face to the immense creature. On its left hand was all of Ness’s enemies in a cage. Enemies such as the "sanctuary enemies", Pokey, and even Giygas. They were crying out to Ness in despair, "H-help..us..."

Ness used his PSI powers, but they dissipated into nowhere. "Wha-WHAT’S GOIN’ ON?!" shouted Ness.

The creature throbbed. IT was glowing a dark red. It appeared to gather a type of energy. The energy was collected in a bright ball. The ball was huge. Probably the size of the Epcot Center in Disney World. The monster was about to fire the energy, when a new power seized the area. Ness looked up. He saw many "triangular" shaped beams of energy attacking the monster. The creature roared in despair. The nasty monster was defeated, where only his body remained. The cage where the enemies were was broken. Ness saw Paula, Jeff, and Poo on the right hand of the deceased creature. They all looked at Ness, with smiles of triumph and glory. The world became black, and Ness became unconscious.

******************************************************************************

Ness woke up and found himself in his backyard. "Wha- what happened?" asked Ness to himself. He heard a snicker. Then bawling laughter. "GWA HA HA! GOT YA NESS!" It was two boys named Nick and Lenord. Ness hated these two guys.

"WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU GUYS DOING HERE?!" demanded Ness.

"To see you stagger around! Gwa ha ha..." retorted Nick.

"What are you talking about?"

Lenord replied, "Remember that hamburger you ate at lunch today?"

"Yes," said Ness wearily.

"Well, we tainted it with some mushroom type drugs. Yeah, a hallucinogen!"

"WHAT?!" many things filled Ness’s mind right now. He was ready to bash them.

"Hold up Ness," said Nick defensively, "There’s no side effects to the drug besides hallucinations, I think."

Ness was silent. Then he replied in a sort of evil voice, "Go. Go far, far away."

"No." said Lenord.

Ness glared at him. It was a glare that could make cotton turn to stone.

"Uh-uhh. Okay, okay. Let’s get outta here Nick."

The two ran away. Ness gained control. He went back to bed. But he still was wondering if there was some meaning to his dream/hallucination. "Probably nothing. It’s just my stupid adventure playing mind games with me again," Ness assured himself. He finally got to sleep.

******************************************************************************

Ness got up at 12:00 PM. "Uhh-oh...why am I so tired?" Then he remembered last night. "Oh yeah! I gotta kill Nick and Lenord today," said Ness sarcastically, "Too bad it’s the weekend. Oh well." Ness went downstairs to get breakfast.

"NESS! You looked exhausted. Are you okay?" asked his mother.

"Oh yeah, fine."

"Well, okay. What are you going to do today?"

"Oh, I don’t know. . . all my friends are busy. Yuri has hockey practice all week, and Sean is cleaning the garage all weekend." (Yuri and Sean are friends from his school, read the Abolition of the Religion for more info. Oh yeah, it was also written by me.)

"What about Jeff? He seems like a nice boy."

"Jeff’s my best friend! I haven’t seen him in so long. Every time we see each other, it’s because of a problem, or if I need help with my homework."

"Oh. Where’s Paula?"

"I don’t...know. I haven’t talked to her in two weeks. Hmm."

"Why don’t you call her?"

"Good idea."

Ness left his cereal of Sugar Crumbs to go call Paula. He picked up the receiver.

"Wait a minute, I’m not dressed or anything!"

Ness ran to take a shower and to get dressed.

******************************************************************************

"ACK!" coughed Jeff. Jeff was staggering aimlessly around Onett. A thick, dark, evil fog was covering the city.

"I <cough cough> can’t believe this happens to On-<COUGH COUGH>ett. I have to find it before ‘it’ get’s...me."

Jeff was running as fast as he could. He peered through the fog. "The device! It’s right there!" Jeff ran as fast as he could, but then he tripped and hit his head.

"It’s going...to...get...me...ughh..." Jeff fell unconscious and was headed for his doom.

******************************************************************************

"Whew!" said Ness. He just got out of the shower. "I feel much better! Now to go call Paula."

Ness ran to the phone quickly, and called Paula.

"Ring....Ring...Ring....Ring...<Click!>"

"Dang it! She’s not home. Mom!" yelled Ness.

"Yes?"

"I’m going up to that club house."

"Okay, call me if you’re gone too long. OH! Take King for a walk!"

"Come on, King. Let’s go."

The lazy dog and Ness left the house.

******************************************************************************

"PAULA! I wanna cookie too!" whined a little girl.

"Okay. Here." Paula handed the little girl a cookie. She gobbled it up quickly.

Paula was outside with the the kids. She laid down on the grass and looked at the cloudy, gray sky. She suddenly thought of Ness.

NESS! I haven’t seen you in weeks. Oh... thought Paula. Then she started thinking of Jeff. Jeff? I haven’t seen him in months! I should organize a reunion or something. Jeff...

"PAULA!! Tell Billy to leave me alone!" shouted a little boy.

Paula looked at Billy. He was laughing. "Billy, leave Sara alone."

Billy stuck out his tongue and ran away laughing.

Paula didn’t care. Jeff...something’s not right.

Just then, Paula’s parents came home.

"Hi," said Paula, "How was your lunch?"

"Just great," answered her dad.

"You can leave now if you want, Paula," said her mom, "Thanks for your help."

"No problem. I’ll be back soon."

Paula left her house. Apple Kid...he might know where Jeff is...I NEED to talk to him.

She went to Apple Kid’s house and knocked on the door. Probably not there, thought Paula.

"Um, hold on!" shouted Apple Kid. He opened the door. "Paula! Hi! How are you?"

"Fine. I need to ask you something."

"What is it?"

"Have you seen or talked to Jeff lately?"

"Um, I did three days ago. He’s working on a machine...He said not to tell anyone about it. I’m working on the second part of his device. It’s an Instant Teleporter. I know it sounds a bit far fetched, but it does work."

"I see," said Paula.

"Right now, it can only teleport to Winters, and-"

"Take me there! I MUST talk to Jeff...I’m not sure why though..."

"But it might not work. I haven’t tried it that much."

"I don’t care. Hurry!"

"Okay okay. Come inside."

They entered the house. It was full of gadgets, machines, and other seemingly useless junk.

"Okay, step on this green pad right here."

Paula went up to it hesitantly.

"Let me give you an overview of what this does. It removes your particles or molecules, and sends them to the desired place piece by piece. Basically, it takes you apart. Sending molecules one at a time is the only way for "instantaneous travel". Your molecular structure returns to normal like it was at your original position. There. Okay, let’s go."

Apple Kid pushed a button and a seal came over Paula. Paula tried to scream, but the seal was sound proof. Apple Kid pushed a few levers and buttons, and Paula slowly disappeared. Suddenly the machine sparked, and went haywire.

"OH NO!" Apple Kid looked at Paula, but she was already gone.

"BLAST! I KNEW I shouldn’t have let Orange Kid help me!" The machine sparked once more, and broke down.

"Oh Paula. I hope you’re okay."

 ************************************************************************** ***

Paula woke up. "Ugh. I’m alive! Now to go get Jeff." She looked up and was deeply surprised. "What the-?!" Paula realized that she was in Dalaam. She was right in front of the palace. "How am I going to get home?....Poo! I haven’t seen him either! Maybe he’ll understand what I’m talking about."

Paula walked toward the Palace entrance, and encountered some guards.

"Um, I need to see Poo. It’s important."

The two guards looked at each other and laughed.

"GWA ha ha ha! You think WE will let YOU come in the palace?! You make me laugh. Go on, get out of here little girl!"

Paula felt like crying. "STOP!" yelled a familiar voice.

"PRINCE POO!" the guards bowed down.

"Get up. This is my FRIEND! Show her your respect! I should have your eyes torn out, and fed to the crows. Come Paula."

The two walked to Poo’s palace chambers.

"Poo, it’s nice to see you...I’m very worried. Are you mad about something?"

Poo was silent for a moment. He finally said, "Yes, I am angry. I can’t understand this dream I keep having...but go on. What are you worried about?"

"I don’t know...I just keep feeling something’s wrong with Jeff, and-"

"REALLY? Me too! That’s what was in my dream! This was destined to happen. I too believe that Jeff is in trouble."

"Then what do we do?"

"We must go to Jeff’s home in Winters. Hurry! We may be wasting precious time. Let’s go."

The two ran outside, and Poo and Paula teleported to Winters.

******************************************************************************

"KING! Stop leaking on that tree!" yelled Ness.

King growled and continued with Ness.

Ness reached the clubhouse. All his friends were there. They were all in the age 9-11 range.

"Hi Ness! What’re you doin? Hi King!" The boy pat the dog’s head.

"Oh, nothing much," replied Ness. Suddenly Ness realized he was hanging out with a bunch of little kids. How babyish!

"Um, you guys, I’m thinking about leaving the clubhouse."

"WHAT?!" yelled all seven boys together.

"You’ve had this clubhouse since you were 7! Please don’t go," pleaded one boy.

"Sorry guys, but I gotta move on. Take care of it, and good luck with the club."

Ness left the clubhouse. As he left he thought to himself, Why are all these weird things happening to me? My adventure, the dream, my friends....My life just turned around all of the sudden.

Ness wasn’t exactly sure why he was depressed. He continued to wander Onett with King. He saw Giant Step. He loved that place. "Come on, King. Let’s go up there." Ness and King, went throughout the caves, and came to Giant Step. Ness felt peaceful there. He sat there, and pondered his life.

******************************************************************************

Poo and Paula arrived in Winters.

"There’s the gate," pointed out Paula, "I’ll go talk to the intercom."

Paula quickly ran to the gate. To her surprise, the gate was open, and the intercom was turned off.

"Poo! Let’s go."

The two walked inside the school.

No one was there. The two searched some more. Then they heard voices in a room. Poo opened the door that led to a stairwell, and they walked down it.

"Please, Jeff. Come back to us!" murmured a student.

"JEFF! NO!" shouted Paula.

Everyone turned around. Paula was expecting Jeff to be dead, but he wasn’t even there.

"Where’s Jeff?" asked Poo.

Maxwell Labs looked up and said, "Jeff is...gone."

Paula and Poo were puzzled.

"Oh what I mean is that...well I shouldn’t tell you. But since you ARE his friends...Maybe you can help him."

"We’ll do whatever it takes," said Poo with great courage, "Now, what happened to Jeff?"

Maxwell was silent for a moment then spoke, "Jeff created a time machine. It was one that worked very efficiently. He and Apple Kid were working on a device that could transport anyone to any part of the world, as well as transporting through any area in time. We aren’t sure what time period he went into, or where he is. But he said he would be back in five minutes after he left. We’ve been waiting half an hour. We came to the conclusion that Jeff is either in great trouble, or he’s.....dead."

"NO!" shouted Paula in despair, "So there was a reason..."

"Is there anyway to save Jeff?" asked Poo.

"Well, he’s already dead, but not technically. The only way to save him is to go to the era he chose to visit, and get him out of there before he meets his doom. However, we can’t build a time machine. Jeff took all the plans, and has the only sample of Loarbanite. Loarbanite is an extremely rare element found only on planet 55-638G. That’s all I can tell you about it."

"Then all is lost," said Paula.

Maxwell replied, "I...guess so. The only thing we can do is hope that he returns."

"NO WAY!" shouted Poo.

Everyone turned and looked at him.

Poo continued, "We WILL find a way to get Jeff back! No one’s life deserves to be cut short by that much. I will find a way if everyone else is losing hope."

Paula’s eyes widened, "You’re right Poo! It seemed hopeless in other situations, but we pulled through. I won’t give up either!"

"Well," said Maxwell, "I’m glad you have so much hope. I’ll try to help you in any way I can."

"Thank you, Maxwell," said Poo, "We’re leaving now. Let’s go Paula."

"Were are we going?"

"Back to Dalaam. I need the assistance of my Master."

Poo and Paula teleported to Dalaam.

They landed. "Whew! Alright, let’s go see your Master."

They walked to the throne room.

"Master!" yelled Poo.

"Yes. Come."

"Master," Poo started, " My friend Jeff is in great peril right now. He’s trapped in the future or the past. He was supposed to come back, but he never did. We HAVE to save Jeff. But we don’t know how."

"Hmmm..." Poo’s master was silent, "Go to the place of ‘Mu’. You might find your answer there." The Master left the room.

"Well, Poo, let’s go."

The two walked across Dalaam to "Mu, the Place of Emptiness". They climbed the ropes and found the Star Master there.

"POO! PAULA! Destiny has led you here."

Paula and Poo looked at each other.

"Your friend, Jeff, was trying to warn us about the next greatest threat on Earth. This takes place 100 years in the future. I don’t know what is destroying Earth, but it must be stopped. This happens to the Earth in 65 years. The Earth starts deteriorating rapidly in 25 more years. YOU must save Jeff, and find the solution to stop the deterioration of the Earth!"

"But how do we get to the future?" asked Paula.

"Hmmm. I will tell you, but not now. You also need to know a FINAL power. This power alone is the only way to you can save the future, and the world. However, only the three of you can save Jeff and the future."

"Three?" asked Poo, "But there’s only two of us."

The Star Master looked at him.

"Ness...NESS! Of course! We have to find him. To Onett!"

Paula and Poo left for Onett as fast as they could.

When they got to Onett, they went to Ness’s house. Paula knocked on the door.

Tracy answered the door. "Oh hi. You’re Ness girlfriend aren’t you?"

Paula nodded.

"You must be Ness’s samurai friend huh? HA HA AH!..."

Poo remained silent.

"Ahem..er oh, if you’re looking for Ness, he took King for a walk. He should be wandering somewhere around here."

"Okay," said Paula, "Thanks."

Tracy closed the door.

"Well, let’s look for Ness."

The two looked everywhere in Onett.

"Where is he?"said Paula to herself. She thought for a moment. Then she suddenly knew where he was.

"Poo! I know where he is! Giant Step! We sometimes go there to...oh, um, let’s go. Ness really likes it there, it’s a neat place."

The two walked to Giant Step. They went through the shack, and through the cave. When they got back outside they called Ness from the bottom, but he didn’t respond.

What’s wrong with Ness? thought Paula.

The two continued through the caves up the ropes, to the entrance to Giant Step.

"Stop! NO!" yelled a tiny voice.

Poo and Paula looked around, but didn’t see anything

"Down here!" yelled the voice.

Paula and Poo looked down to see a small, green insect-like creature.

"Um, if you’ll excuse us, we’re going to Giant Step," said Paula.

"NO WAY! I WON’T let you through. I am Leviathan, soul protector of The Chosen One. It’s my duty to carry out his final task. This task is no more adventures, world saving, or other crap..."

Poo and Paula looked at each other, confused.

"Listen, if I let you through, Ness will be in great danger. If he loses his "immortal" energy, and gets hurt and collapses, I can’t revive him."

Paula looked at the creature excitedly and said, "So YOU are the one that revived Ness so many times!"

"Yup," said the bug, "I’m a relative of Buzz-Buzz. He was supposed to guard Ness, but failed. I told him he was foolish to try to face Giygas. It’s a shame he was killed by a stupid lady..."

Poo started to speak, "Listen, you MUST let us get to Ness. Without him, we can’t save our friend, OR the future!"

"The future..." said the bug emptily, "I lost my energy because of the future. I believe Giygas still has lasting effects on this Earth...Forever. Giygas is now a part of our world. The only thing we can do is put up with it. Although the effects won’t be as bad as the REAL Giygas, it makes the world deteriorate in 100 years. In 100 years I lost my power, so I quickly came here to protect Ness from the awful future. Everyone will lose something in the future. That’s all there is to it."

"Then you HAVE to let us get Ness!" shouted Paula, "So we can fix the future!"

The bug was getting mad, "DON’T YOU UNDERSTAND?! There IS no future! No matter what you do. You CAN’T fix it. I told you, the effects of Giygas are infinite, until this world is destroyed."

Poo thought, But the master said this WILL fix the future...This bug is a tool to stop us from saving the future! I knew it!   Poo pulled out his Sword of Kings.

"GET OUT OF HERE!" shouted Poo, "YOU ARE DRIVING US FROM OUR CHOSEN PATH! YOU are the problem! We WILL eliminate you!"

"POO!" shouted Paula.

The creature looked at them and said, "You DON’T understand. The effects of Giygas are eternal! STOP STOP!"

"I agree Poo. Let’s go!"

The two were ready for battle.

"If you chose to destroy me, I will have to destroy you...kamikaze, yes. If I die, YOU die. If you live, you will put my life, which is Ness, in danger, and I forbid that from happening."

Poo slashed the bug with his sword. However, the sword became "possessed" and started attacking Paula and Poo. Paula quickly used PSI Freeze Omega on the sword, and it was destroyed. Poo was distressed, but tried PSI Starstorm Alpha.

"AAACK!" yelled the bug, "The....Star....Master.....delta..."

The two started attacking full force to the bug.

"No....stop...please....wait..." whispered the bug in despair.

Paula and Poo didn’t hear the bug, and kept attacking.

Finally they stopped.

"You....have...defeated me," whispered the bug, "Do what you wish with Ness. He is one of the people that will possess the new power. THIS power is the only thing to eliminate the effects of Giygas."

Poo said, "How do you know this?"

The bug answered, "I was with the Star Master when I was young. He told me a new power would be necessary in the future. Delta....and...take care of Ness...vooo..."

The bug perished right then.

"Poo..." said Paula.

"No, this can’t be...I destroyed the key to the new power. HOW ASININE OF ME TO JUMP TO CONCLUSIONS!" Poo leaned against the wall.

"Poo, it’s okay. You were doing what you thought was right," assured Paula.

"The keyword there is THOUGHT. I need to think before I act. I’m so ashamed. I’m not worthy to be a fighter, let alone a human being. I took someone’s life. An innocent one. I’m so ashamed," explained Poo. He ran out of the caves as fast as he could.

"POO!" yelled Paula, "The bug left your sword behind!" Paula picked it up.

"He’ll probably want this." After getting the sword, Paula went to go get Ness.

"Ness!" she called.

Ness was startled. All the peace and serenity of the great hill would make anyone get startled at the slightest noise.

"Oh Paula, Hi. I missed you a lot."

"Me too. Ness, we need to talk."

"Yeah, me too. Some weird things are going on."

"Explain."

Ness explained his dream, and how his life was changing too fast.

"Ness! I have so much to tell you!"

Paula explained what happened to Jeff, the future, the bug, and Poo.

"No..." said Ness silently, "Jeff. NO! NOT JEFF!" Ness started crying. He wasn’t one to cry much. This startled Paula.

"Oh, Ness." Paula put his arm around him.

"My dream," he said, "I bet most of it is true. We HAVE TO SAVE JEFF! WE HAVE TO! What do we do?"

Paula stood up, "Well, let’s go to Dalaam, and talk to the Star Master."

Ness and Paula teleported to Dalaam.

"Okay, Paula, what do we do?" asked Ness.

"Follow me."

The two found Mu, The Place of Emptiness, and climbed to the top. There, they found the Star Master.

"AH!" he said, "Welcome."

"Have you talked to Poo?" asked Paula.

"...Yes," replied the Star Master sadly, "I know about what happened. However, don’t worry about Poo. He is training right now, even though he doesn’t realize it. What YOU must do now is save Jeff. That will be YOUR training."

"But how do we save him?" asked Paula.

The Star Master thought, "Hmmm. The only way is through the cosmos. This is where time exists. I’ll give you both a TEMPORARY power that will enable you to travel through time. This is temporary because I don’t want your power to fall in the wrong hands. Once you find Jeff, he’ll be able to send you back. Once you retrieve him, come back here. I’ll tell you what to do. FINALLY! It is time for you to learn this awesome power."

The Star Master did a demonstration. Ness looked at his watch. "He’s been gone for 5 minutes Where is he?" said Ness.

Suddenly, the Star Master reappeared.

"That is how it is done. I went five minutes into the future. If you don’t believe me, you can try."

The Star Master looked at Ness and Paula, and they became conscious of PSI EPOCH. "Now, try it out. You get one chance to see the effects. Go five minutes in the future, and leave your watch here."

Ness used the power, and instantly reappeared in the same place.

"WHAT THE HECK?! Nothing happened," said Ness angrily.

"Be patient, Ness. Look at your watch."

"It’s five minutes fast....Wow, it did work."

"Okay, what do we do from here? asked Paula.

"Go 100 years in the future of course!" said the Star Master, "Oh, your teleport powers WILL work, so don’t worry. Now go, and do not be anxious about the future...SAVE THE FUTURE!"

After this was said, Ness and Paula left to the year 209X.

******************************************************************************

Paula and Ness arrived in the 209X world instantly. They were in a thick fog. Suddenly they realized they were falling!

"AHHHHHHH!" screamed Ness. Paula started praying.

The ground was shrouded by fog. Then for a split second, the ground was in sight.

Ness closed his eyes, but was surprised to feel no impact. The two were set down gently.

"That praying really works, huh Paula?" said Ness.

Paula smiled. "This can’t be Dalaam. Or maybe it is. No wonder Jeff is in so much trouble."

"Come on," said Ness, "Let’s look for Jeff."

The two searched everywhere in the gray dismal Dalaam.

"He’s not here Ness...LOOK!" shouted Paula.

Ness turned to see the Palace was destroyed. In fact, there was no life whatsoever.

"Let’s go to Winters," suggested Ness, "If Jeff is anywhere, he MUST be there."

When they arrived in Winters, the school was abandoned. There was a rusted plaque on the wall. It said: This school is dedicated to Jeff Andonuts. Our greatest and brightest student. He was greatest pioneer of time travel. October 22nd 200X.

"So, Jeff doesn’t return," said Paula sadly.

Ness thought for a moment. He was pondering the situation.

"Ness, what should we do?"

"I don’t know. Let’s go to Onett. I wonder what it’s like in this era?"

The two teleported through the gray fog all the way to Onett.

The two arrived and were horrified. The city was very advanced, but all the structures were torn down. There were corpses lying in the street. The air was black and "evil". A certain murmuring was in the air.

"Oh Ness. Oh Ness." Paula turned her head. She almost threw up.

"No!" shouted Ness, "What’s going on? My dream. Maybe my dream has something to do with Onett." suddenly they heard a familiar shout in the distance, "AHHHH! ACk!"

"What is that?" asked Paula.

"JEFF!!! He’s here! I know it! JEFF! Were are you?" shouted Ness.

The two ran through the town. Ness peered through the darkness and saw Jeff, running helplessly.

"JEFF!" called Ness.

The two ran to him.

"Guys...look...out...get the...time machine up ahead."

"There it is Ness," Paula pointed to a silver machine. She turned and her face went pale.

"N-N-NESS! Look!"

"There was a huge black mass. It was some sort of creature. This creature could not be described. "Ness...Ness...Look at what I’ve done." said a voice. It was the voice of Giygas in despair. "Ness..." said Giygas, "Defeat this...hurry."

Jeff staggered up. They prepared to battle this "thing".

Paula used Physic Shield E since she didn’t know the effects of this "thing".

The creature throbbed.

They tried all their PSI powers. But they dissipated into nowhere.

My dream, thought Ness.

The thing collected a huge amount of energy.

"NO!" yelled Jeff. With his last once of strength, he fired a strange bottle rocket. The rocket exploded in triangle beams of energy. The creature was stunned.

"*cough* ack! Guys...get to the...time machine...hurry...voo.." Jeff fell unconscious.

The two quickly carried Jeff to the time machine, and they went inside.

"How’d work this thing?!" asked Paula desperately.

"Um, let’s see. This is our present day, year, and we left about an hour ago." Ness punched in the numbers and the machine was ready.

"Hurry Ness! The creature’s going to launch that energy!"

Ness engaged the machine, and they were blasted to the past. Seconds later, the monster launched the energy, and the entire Earth was destroyed instantly.

******************************************************************************

Jeff...Jeff...Jeff...JEFF! Please wake up.

Jeff woke up to the voice of Paula.

"Wha-what? Who? Oh yeah...YOU GUYS SAVED ME!"

"I guess you could say that," said Ness.

"Where am I?" asked Jeff.

"Oh, you’re in my room," explained Ness.

"Jeff, you rest here. We’ll go tell your school you’re alright. They’re terribly worried about you," said Paula. But Jeff was already asleep. Ness and Paula went to call SnowWood.

"Hello?" asked Maxwell.

"Maxwell? This is Ness. I just want to let you know that Jeff is alive. We rescued him from the future."

"YOU DID?! OH thank goodness! Is he alright?"

"Yeah, he’s sleeping right now. Don’t worry about him."

"Oh good. But how did you- Oh it doesn’t matter. Just take care of Jeff. Tony’s worried about him."<click>

Paula and Ness went back up to Jeff. They let him sleep for two more hours.

******************************************************************************

"Poo! Stop this now!" demanded Poo’s master.

"It’s hopeless. I’m a failure. I don’t deserve to live."

"Poo! You must finish your training!"

"Training? Well, it doesn’t matter. I wasn’t meant to be a fighter, or a leader."

"Come Poo. It’s time to finish your training."

Poo obeyed, and followed the Master.

******************************************************************************

"Uhh, oh. What the-? Oh yeah. Hey guys."

"Jeff! You’re finally awake. You have to tell us what happened!" said Paula urgently.

"Well, alright. It’s pretty long, but anyway... I was working on a new time machine. I told Ness about it once. Anyway, Apple Kid and I were going to combine his invention of the INSTANT TELEPORTER, with my time machine. I tested it at SnowWood. I wanted to go 20 years in the future, but there was a bug in the program, and it sent me 100 years in the future. I also wanted to be teleported to Onett, so I would work my way through all the cities. I was shocked at the destruction. As I walked around, people were terrified. I asked a small kid what was going on. He said that, ‘It was coming.’ I said, ‘What are you talking about?’ He responded, ‘There’s no time! Here, take this for protection.’ He handed me a weird bottle rocket. It had the initials D.E.L.T.A. It looked pretty powerful. That’s when a dark mass descended over the city. The child ran away. The dark mass produced a dark fog. The people that were outside died instantly. I don’t know why I didn’t die, but I was having trouble breathing. This dark mass was chasing me somehow. I was trying to run from it, but it was every where. I was desperate to find the machine. When I saw it, I ran as fast as I could to it. That’s when I tripped. I thought I was doomed, but you guys came. When I realized your PSI wasn’t working, I fired the bottle rocket out of instinct. It’s an awesome weapon. It seemed to hold a power within it. Whew."

"Whoa," said Ness, "So it wasn’t just a dream."

Jeff continued, "It appears now that we have to save the future. I’m not sure what this creature is, or when it comes to earth, but we have to defeat it."

Paula then explained what the Star Master said to them, about Poo, and the bug.

"Well then, we should go to the Star Master shouldn’t we?" said Jeff, "Let’s go."

The two went out side and went to Dalaam.

"Okay, you guys," said Paula, "Follow me."

The two climbed the ropes to Mu, The Place of Emptiness.

"Welcome." said the Star Master, "I see you were successful in your mission."

"What do we do now?" asked Ness.

The Star Master replied, "You have to learn the new power I was telling you about."

"How do we learn this power?" asked Paula.

The Star master thought, and then spoke, "YOU already know the power. However, you must awaken the power so you will be conscious of it."

"And how do we ‘awake’ this power?" ask Ness.

The Star Master replied, "Go back to your ORIGINAL battle with Giygas. You must go there to realize this new power. You will then leave immediately. Then you will go BACK, to use your power to finish off the remnants of Giygas."

"Are we battling anything?" asked Paula.

"Yes," said the Star Master, "Your PSI powers should suffice until you realize the power."

"What about Jeff?" asked Ness, "Will he learn this power?"

The Star Master studied Jeff. He replied, "This power is based on acceptance. If you don’t accept the power, you won’t learn it. However, maybe you can harvest this power into another source..."

"Um, okay," said Jeff, "Come on guys, let’s go."

"Wait!," said Paula, "What’s going on with Poo? Is he joining us?"

The Star Master was silent, "Go. Now. Questions will be answered later."

"Uh, okay. Let’s go guys." said Paula.

The three traveled to Onett to get the time machine.

Once they arrived, they went to Ness’s house, which was where the machine was.

"Let me adjust this thing guys," said Jeff, "In the mean time, go get supplies, and other stuff we’ll need."

"Okay," said Ness, "Paula, let’s go to Fourside. Maybe we can find stuff there."

Paula nodded and they teleported to Fourside.

When they arrived, Ness said, "Let’s go to the department store. There should be enough stuff there. The walked across the street, and entered the store. Ness went to the ATM and withdrew all his money. "WOW! A million bucks! Dad’s getting generous," said Ness. He withdrew $500,000. The two went up the escalator.

"Where to Ness?"

"Hmmm...Let’s go to that secret arms shop! We can get stuff for Jeff."

The two walked in.

"Shhhh!" said the man, "What’d you want?"

"Uhhh..." said Ness unsurely.

"How much money do you have?"

"A million."

"A MILLION?! Whoa! Hey, you’re those kids! I remember! Are you on another adventure? If you are, I have awesome new artillery!" He opened a box, and there were all sorts of gadgets, and weapons.

"WHOA!" exclaimed Ness, "How much is all this?"

"Hmmm. Well, since it’s imported from Russia, it’ll cost you...$100,000 dollars. Fair deal?"

"YEAH! Here." Ness handed him the money, and the man handed him the box.

"Nice doin’ business with you. Feel free to come back."

"Man, this is heavy. I’m going to bring this to Jeff. What city do you want to go to?"

"Um, Summers. But how-"

"Okay, let’s go outside."

The two left the store. Ness said, "Okay, I’m going to do something different. It’s something I learned over the summer. I call it Split Teleport. I practiced with King, and it worked. I’ll teleport to Onett, and I’ll teleport you to Summers, at the same time. Ready?"

"Yep."

Ness took a deep breath and teleported.

Ness landed in Onett. Paula wasn’t there. "Good, it works." Ness shifted the weight of the box. "Now to bring this thing to Jeff."

Paula arrived in Summers. "Okay," she said, "Now to get some stuff."

She walked in the store. The customers eyed her carefully.

What’s wrong with them?  thought Paula. Then she realized she was holding on to Poo’s sword. "OOPS!" shouted Paula out loud. She concealed the weapon, and browsed the merchandise. She was probably in there for half an hour. They got more stuff. Hmmm what should I buy? She found some rainbow colored pendants. Well, these are gay...I’ll take them! Suddenly, Ness and Jeff came in.

"PAULA!" yelled Ness, "I forgot to give you money." Paula took three pendants, and paid for them. Each put the pendant around them, and they left the store.

"Well guys, everything’s complete," announced Jeff, "I fixed those tools in that box you bought, and the time machine is ready to go. I found some neat stuff in that box. Let’s head back to Onett, and save the future!"

They all teleported to Onett. They walked to Ness’s house where all the gadgets and tools were scattered across the yard.

Jeff said, "Some of the tools were junk. But I found some great items. Most improved the quality of the time machine. I also made a new gun called the Gaia Blaster Beam. What I also managed to make is a Future Watcher. What it is, is a transistor radio, with a screen added to it. Now we can see the how the future changes as we defeat this ‘thing’. One of the best things I found were those bottle rockets like the ones in the future. I also realized that our pendants are made of the same material as the bottle rockets. Anyway I’m going to put this Future Watcher 100 years in the future. I’ll be right back..." Ness tried to stop him, but he already went in the time machine, and left.

"HE BETTER NOT DIE AGAIN!" exclaimed Ness.

Jeff came back almost instantly. "WHEW! That was a close call. I swear that energy could take out the entire planet. We can see the effects of our attack with my watch. It’s connected to the Future Watcher. Well, are we ready?"

Paula and Ness looked at each other and nodded.

"Well, let’s get in."

The two climbed in the little machine. It was all metallic colored, with clutter inside, and a light bulb swinging from the top.

"Hmmm, let’s see. Giygas is found in...he’s found in...wait a minute, where IS Giygas in time?" asked Jeff.

Ness and Paula shrugged.

"Then it’s hopeless. Unless...Of course! The Lost Underworld! We go there, and the time machine SHOULD take us back to the battle. I know it! Let’s go."

Jeff used the machine to teleport to the cave in the Lost Underworld. Once in the cave, the time screen showed weird numbers. The numbers couldn’t be changed.

"I guess we go to that time period," elaborated Jeff, "Okay guys, here we go. Hopefully, we won’t run into our PAST selves. If we do, there’ll be a major paradox." Jeff activated the machine, and the three were blasted into the past.

The machine arrived. For some reason, they were in right in front of where the Giygas battle took place. They came out of the machine. The air was stagnate and old. The three found the robots that they once were in.

"This is creepy Ness *cough cough*" said Paula weakly.

Jeff went through the time machine. He pulled out some oxygen tanks. They put them on, and entered "The Cave of Giygas". The cave was dark. It was like a place where light could not exist. They heard a weak throbbing. The throbbing became stronger and louder as they moved closer. Soon they stopped. A dim light was shown. The three friends could feel the remnants of Giygas. Soon the "creature" said, "So you are...the chosen ones..." The creature throbbed louder. "I’m here to avenge Giygas...the...Apple of Enlightenment...is incorrect. PURE evil must always win.... I am pure evil, and you are fighting for pure justice....The two clash with each other greatly. In a few millennium...the goal of destroying justice...will be complete. Pure evil will reign. That is the truth."

The three were amazed. Ness spit out his oxygen mouth piece and shouted, "You! You won’t defeat us! Everyone has a purpose on this earth, and YOU aren’t going to destroy it!"

The creature throbbed so loud that it brought the three to their knees. It then said, "I am...Ness..."

The creature used PSI Rockin Omega. It didn’t work on Ness. But Paula and Jeff were greatly hurt."

"AHHHHHH!" screamed Jeff in pain. The two were slowly getting weaker.

Ness used Lifeup OMEGA, and the two were gaining strength. He then started to attack physically.

"No...not right...not right...Paula...."

The monster used PSI Fire OMEGA.

The pendants absorbed the fire and gave them all a hope. But they all ignored it. Jeff decided to step in. He fired his gun at the creature.

"AAAAHAAAA!" yelled the creature, "Jeff...I...you...I am Jeff."

The monster fired a large missile at the three. It exploded, and all of them were injured.

"I-can’t-go-on," cried Paula.

Ness tried to use Lifeup Omega, but he couldn’t concentrate because of the creature.

"He can’t be right," said Ness, "We...must...win..."

The creature throbbed, "As you notice, you have been defeated. Your so called justice has failed you....The future holds nothing for your world...By becoming you, you realize the pain you feel."

Ness and Paula collapsed, but Jeff refused to give up.

"No, you won’t win," said Jeff weakly.

The creature throbbed, but was silent. It was collecting a huge amount of energy.

Like in the future. It’s the same energy.

Jeff panicked. Suddenly, beams of energy attacked the energy ball, and it dissipated.

"What the-?"

Poo swooped down from the ceiling, if there was a ceiling. Ness, Paula and Jeff were revived. "YOU GUYS!" exclaimed Poo, "The new power is here! Clear your mind and accept it now!"

Ness and Paula looked at each other. Then they realized they possessed a power far greater then any other. The power was Delta. The FINAL power. The only power that could defeat this beast.

The black mass of a creature spoke, "Delta..."

Ness used PSI DELTA. Large white and yellow beams of triangular energy attacked the monster. The creature throbbed in despair.

Paula used her Delta Power. Again, the energy was triangular, except it was blue and red. "No...no...Ness...Paula.." cried the creature.

Poo used his Delta power once more. They were a mysterious silver color beams of energy. "ARRGHHH!" cried the creature in despair.

Delta, thought Jeff, DELTA! The Bottle Rocket! Jeff pulled out one of the D.E.L.T.A. rockets.  I have the FINAL power! Jeff blasted the creature with the rocket. It exploded in

glorious triangular rays of yellow, blue, white, red, silver, and green.

"GWAAAHHA!" roared the creature. "YOU...won’t win!"

The creature was making a large energy orb again. Except it was all the Delta powers combined. "My pain...is...yours."

Poo stepped in, "You guys! Quickly use your DELTA POWERS! This is the only way - to work together!"

Jeff fired the bottle rocket, while Ness, Paula, and Poo’s DELTA power simultaneously was attached to the rocket. The power attached to the rocket came at the creature at full force. When it hit, it exploded in glorious rays of light. A thundering sound was heard. The dark mass was collapsing. The creature was becoming smaller and smaller. Underneath the darkness was an immense, heavenly light. The four shielded their eyes. The creature was merely a small dot. The small dot started an earthquake.

"GUYS!" shouted Jeff, "This thing is going to blow up! To the machine!" The three got behind Jeff. Jeff quickly looked at his watch. There he saw a bright wonderful future. Thank goodness, he thought. The four quickly ran to the time machine. They all managed to get in. Jeff programmed the machine to go to Onett, October 22nd, 199X. The entire world they were in blew up. This caused all four friends to fall unconscious. The machine blasted away, and the world of Giygas was no more.

******************************************************************************

Ness woke up to find himself on his front lawn. Everyone lay scattered on his lawn. There was the time machine.

"Ohh..Guys, wake up."

All three woke up.

"Was it a dream?" asked Paula, "No, wait...we made it! WE DID IT GUYS!"

Poo nodded. He asked Jeff, "How does the future look?"

Jeff looked at his watch, "Uh oh, the screen’s blank."

"What does that mean?" asked Ness.

"It means that the Future Watcher broke down...somehow. But we don’t need to know any more about the future. I also think that that ‘era’ we were in was a tangent in time caused by Giygas. When we defeated Giygas and his remnants, the whole world was eliminated. There is NO way to get back into that world."

They all agreed. Ness asked Poo, "Poo, where did you come from? What happened?"

"Well, I was learning greater courage and strength. Through this learning, I realized the power of Delta. This power was the only thing that could defeat Giygas completely, as you all could see. I think Jeff’s bottle rocket was made from an ancient civilization. When the material was discovered, I supposed it was used for weaponry," explained Poo.

"Makes sense," said Jeff.

"Well you guys, our adventure seems to never end," said Paula, "I hope this is it. Oh Poo, here’s your sword. I knew you would want it."

Poo looked at her, "Thank you so much, Paula. You don’t know how much this means to me."

"I agree with you so much Paula," said Ness, "You guys, let’s just go home and forget about it. It’s the only way to move on."

The three others were confused for a bit, but finally agreed. They were all ready to move on. To their future.
