``The Mad Quest for the Power"

Ness was walking
down an immensely long hallway. There was a light at the end of
it. Ness was trying to find his red baseball hat. But there were
so many doors that it would be impossible for him to find this
one hat. All the rooms were the same. Suddenly, the walls become
very wavy. Then everything became distorted.
"What is going on! Where’s my hat?!" yelled Ness.
Suddenly, there was an immense screeching noise within Ness’s mind. He screamed in agony. It was penetrating his mind. The floor of the hall rose and threw Ness miles across the hall. There was destruction everywhere. Yet it was just a narrow wall. The incredible sound waves penetrated Ness’s mind even further. Ness felt like dying. Then he blacked out. He then woke up in a sweat.
"Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!" he screamed in his bed.
Ness realized that it was a dream. But he then heard another sound. It was a crash. More like a crunching sound. It was 5 am. Ness decided to check this out, although his head hurt greatly from the dream he just had.
He ran outside. It
was cool, and the dew on the grass was cool and moist on his
feet. Ness at first didn’t see anything wrong. But then he
saw something dreadfully wrong. The land near the Minch’s
house, and the newly constructed homes next to it, was demented,
twisted, and turned. It was like someone lifted the land with a
huge hand. It looked almost like a water wave.
"Earthquakes? In Onett? I guess that’s possible. Man,
school is in 3 hours. I better get back to bed." As Ness
walked back into his house, he thought he saw one or two figures
screaming in the distance. But he figured it was his imagination.

"Hi Ness!" said Paula, "I’m so glad you saved me...again! I love you so much! I hope we’re always together!"
Ness and Paula embraced. Ness smiled. Then Paula-
"NESS! WAKE UP! TIME FOR SCHOOL!" yelled Ness’s mom.
Ness’s dream of Paula sort of faded. He was angry.
"Ughh...." groaned Ness.
Ness took a shower and got dressed groggily. Eventually, he woke up completely.
Ness sat down to the kitchen table and asked his mom, "Did you hear the big crash last nigh?"
She set his eggs and
toast on the table, "Crash?"
"Yeah. It was more like an earthquake. Did you see the land
near the new houses?"
Ness’s mom went
outside and looked. Sure enough, there were people everywhere
looking at this amazing land formation. The police were there
creating road blocks, and scientists were analyzing the wreckage.
People were worrying to the police too. One lady and her husband
were asking about their missing son, and many other people were
trying to get insurance money, even though the earthquake barely
did anything to their houses. One lady said to a scientist,
"...But I didn’t hear it! I was surprised this morning
to see a huge mound of grass in my front lawn!"
Ness gazed at the wreckage. It looked worse than last night.
Ness’s mother walked back inside.
"Ness!" she called, "You better get going! You’ll be late for school!"
Ness ran back to get his books and headed for school.

"Okay. Take out the assignment. On page...85. Numbers..2-26 even. Does..anybody know the answer to...number two? Um, Ness?" said Ness’s math teacher in his monotonous voice.
"Wha-? Oh. I got...3 square roots of 2 over 5." Ness waited for the confirmation if it was right or not.
"That is...incorrect."
"Darn..." said Ness to himself.
"Does anybody else know the answer to...number two?"
The teacher kept calling on people for answers.
Ness then realized something. There was a new kid in the class. Ness looked at the new kid with extreme interest. He looked to be 5’6", had shoulder length brown hair, and strange looking eyes. His clothing was very basic. His clothes included a plain oversized white shirt, and jeans. He had odd looking shoes.
Oh no, thought Ness, he’s going to end up being the butt of everyone’s jokes.
After the teacher went over the new assignment, the class was dismissed. Sure enough, the kids started taunting the new kid. The kids in Onett were like that. Ness just watched. He sympathized for the new kid.
"Hey, did you know that there’s a new barber in Onett?" said one kid.
Everyone laughed.
"No, really. He actually CUTS hair!"
Everyone continued laughing.
Suddenly, Ness’s mind screeched in pain. Like in his dream. But it wasn’t as intense.
Another kid jumped in and said, "Yeah, I suppose they didn’t have shoe stores where you came from either." The kid was red, and ran out of the room to his next class. Ness followed him since they had the same class together.
In history, the teacher was taking attendance. "Now....oo...let’s see. We have a new! A new student! What is your name?" asked Ness’s history teacher.
"Um, Toran."
"Ah, yes. Right here," said the teacher as he was scrolling through the attendance sheet with his finger. "Hmmm..your last name isn’t on here."
"Its...Smith."
"Ah! I see. You should tell the office about this! Now...everyone. Take out your notes!"
We all took out our notes, and did the questions he assigned us. After class, the kids again began harassing the new kid known as Toran.
"Heh heh. So, what’s that necklace on your neck?"
Toran looked up at the kid, but said nothing.
"Hmph! Not saying anything huh!"
The crowd of kids left, and started snickering in the corner.
Ness continued in the day without seeing the new kid. He had two more migraines after history, and Science, but they were almost too strong to be JUST migraines.

The school week continued smoothly. Ness looked around for the new kid, but he was no where to be found. He saw him once in the hall. Ness said "hi" to him, but the kid quickly ran off. He was probably fearful of being taunted again. Despite this, the week went well, and Ness was anxious for the weekend, because he could see Paula. As soon as the clock struck 3, Ness ran out of Onett Jr. High. He quickly started running to Twoson.
"Hey wait," said Ness to himself, "I’ll just teleport there." But he first saw Toran.
"Hey Toran!" called Ness to Toran. Toran looked at him from 50 feet away and then ran away.
"Hmph. Weird." Ness then started teleporting to Twoson. But something went dreadfully wrong.
The screeching sound fell upon Ness. It was worse then ever. It was even worse than his dream. But Ness was still halfway through the teleportation process. Nothing could stop him, since he was in an open area. The more he was teleporting, the worse the pain increased. Ness, finally took off into the air...unconscious.

Paula dressed up more then usual. She didn’t see Ness for nearly a month. She was wearing a new pink/purple dress. She went outside, and sat on the grass waiting patiently for Ness. It was now a quarter after three.
"Where...where is he," Paula asked herself.
She then noticed a large commotion in Burglin Park. She was hearing things like, "Hey kid! Get back here with that food!" and "HEY! You stepped on my flowers!" But she quickly ignored it, and wondered were Ness was. But she was suddenly was cut short of her thinking. An intense screech penetrated her mind. Much like what had happened to Ness. The sound penetrated deep through the depths of her mind. Then it suddenly stopped. This made Paula collapse, but only temporarily. She quickly got back up.
"Ohhh...what...happened?"
She stumbled as she walked into the street. Then she saw Burglin Park. There, the land was distorted, like in Onett.
"Another earthquake? Now in Twoson? Oh dear..." Paula collapsed a second time in the street. By standers diverted their attention from what the earthquake had done, to Paula.
"Quick! Somebody call an ambulance or something!" yelled Apple Kid, who was just observing the earthquake’s wreckage.
Paula’s
parent’s rushed outside. "Paula! Paula! Oh my dear
baby!" cried her mother in despair. The curious children
also came outside.
"P-Paula?"
One child started crying. An ambulance came, and quickly took Paula to the hospital.

Ness woke up to the sounds of birds. He was in a forest. But he was also in some stranger’s house. It was more like a hunting shack. He had no idea where he was, or how he got there. He got up out of the bed he was in uneasily.
"Aw no...what happened? What’s going on?"
A man suddenly came in through the bedroom’s door. He had a gray beard, and looked old, and grizzled.
"Ah! So you’re awake. You hit your head mighty hard on that rock. Here’s some water, and ice for you head."
Ness laid back down on the bed, and put the ice wrapped in a cloth on his head.
"How...what happened?" asked Ness.
"Well, I was out watchin tha wildlife, when aye saw you! Yous was hurt on that there rock mighty badly. So I took you back ‘ere. Where you from, boy?"
"I’m...I’m from Onett."
"ONETT?! Boy! You mustin be crazy! That’s hundreds of miles from ‘ere! How in this ‘ere world did you end up here?"
"I...I don’t know. I should go now. Thank you very much."
Ness quickly ran out of the shack to find an open clearing. He found one by a lake.
"Good. Sorry
Paula." Ness used PSI teleportation to go to Twoson.
When Ness arrived, he was surprised to see confusion, and
talkative mouths. Voices saying:
"Did you see the boy that stole my pots?"
"Man, that earthquake was weird! I wonder if it even was an earthquake..."
and "Did you hear about that girl from the parents who run the Polestar preschool?..."
Ness was shocked about all this. He quickly ran to Polestar to see if Paula was okay. On the way, he saw what had happened in Burglin Park. It looked almost identical to what had happened in Onett. The land looked like it was lifted up with a hand. He continued to Polestar. He tried to open the door but it was locked.
He then ran to Apple Kid’s house to see if he could enlighten him on what was going on. Ness knocked on the door.
"Ness?" shouted Apple Kid, "Come in!"
Ness opened the
door, and quickly said, "Apple Kid! What the heck is going
on?!"
"Okay okay. I’ll try to make sense out of all this.
First of all, I’ll talk about the earthquake. Alright, I was
outside working on my latest invention. Then suddenly,
there’s this strange, noiseless earthquake. I quickly ran to
the area. People were saying that they heard the loudness of it,
but I think they’re in denial since the earthquake was so
bizarre. I don’t think it was even an earthquake. But now to
Paula. Everyone was staring at what had happened, when I saw
Paula staggering in the street. She then collapsed. Me, and
everyone else went to attend to her. She was then taken to the
hospital."
"Oh
Paula....but what is with these earthquakes?"
"I don’t know Ness. But I don’t think these ARE
earthquakes."
"What do you mean?"
"Well, just look at the land. It’s not buckled. It’s like it was stretched out from the Earth. Plus it didn’t make any noise. Did you see and HEAR the earthquake in Onett?"
"I didn’t see it, but I sure did hear it. But no one else seemed to."
"Hmmm...well that’s strange. I’ll investigate this."
"Alright. Oh Apple Kid..."
"Yeah?"
"Well, I-" Ness wanted to tell him about his migraines and what happened, but he had to see what had happened to Paula.
"Um, nevermind. I’m going to go see Paula. Talk to you later!"
"Yep, see you." Apple Kid began working on some type of invention as Ness ran out of the house, to the hospital.
When he reached the hospital the receptionist asked, "Who are you here to see?"
"Paula," answered Ness.
"Paula was brought here, and is still unconscious. Please pay - Oh, er..her parent’s have insurance...her room is the first door. You may enter if her parents allow."
Ness quickly ran upstairs. He opened the door to see Paula, and her parents. Paula was still unconscious on the hospital bed.
"Ness!" said Paula’s mom.
"Oh no...how did this happen to her?"
Paula’s father answered, "Well, they aren’t sure. They mentioned that her brain patterns were not normal or something. They suspect some kind of brain damage that made her collapse."
"Oh no..."
Paula’s mom wept. Paula’s father took her mother out of the room. Ness sat down on the side of the bed.
"Paula...how did this happen?" Ness unconsciously used PSI Healing Gamma, and Paula woke up.
"What...Ness?"
"Paula!"
"Oh, Ness, I was so scared."
"What happened?"
"I-I don’t know. I was sitting on the front yard waiting for you, when this piercing sound entered my mind. It hurt so much, I guess I fell unconscious. When I came to, I heard an earthquake, and saw the wreckage. Then..well...I ended up here. While I was sleeping, I dreamt that you were in trouble. Where WERE you?"
"Paula...something weird is going on. That piercing noise happened to me too. It happened like..at least five times in this past week. It all started Monday night, when I had this weird dream. After the dream, I heard the earthquake. It looked unnatural. Well, anyway, while I was trying to teleport to Twoson, the sound entered my mind again. But I couldn’t stop teleporting. It seemed the more I teleported, the worse it hurt. Then I collapsed, and ended up in some guy’s hunting shack. Then I came here, to find the same thing has happened to you. What’s wrong with us?"
"I don’t know. But we have to find out, since it could get worse. Maybe this has something to do with these earthquakes."
"I don’t think so...well maybe. But I this happened to me like, five times, but there was only one earthquake when it happened."
"Hmmm."
Paula’s parents came in.
"Paula!" shouted her mom, "You’re awake! Thank goodness!" She went and hugged her daughter. Then the doctor came in. He had a glazed look in his eyes.
"Um...I...have...bad...news..." said the doctor in a strange controlled voice.
"What is it?" asked Paula’s father.
"I have to...operate, on everyone...the earthquake.."
"What?" asked her father.
"Your daughter is first. Cause he told me so...nurse! Get the anesthesiologist. Remove the parents from the room." They were taken away as her mother shouted, "Paula!"
"Oh.." said the doctor, "another one is here. Remove him too."
"What the heck are you doing?!" protested Ness, "There’s nothing wrong with Paula!"
"But he told me
so..."
"WHO?!"
"He did...the sad one, with the brown hair."
"Huh?"
The doctor and his assistants charged at Ness, but he dodged
quickly.
"Come on Paula! Let’s get out of here!"
Ness grabbed Paula’s arm, and they quickly ran out of the hospital. The doctor and the assistants were running behind them. Others were running at them as well.
"Ness! Teleport us outta here!" yelled Paula.
Ness tried teleport beta, but it was happening again. The mind bending sound was coming back. But this time Ness had control over his teleportation.
"AHHHH yahhHH AHHHH!!" screamed Ness in pain.
"Ness! Oh no!" The crowd was descending towards them. Paula used PSI Freeze Omega on the ground to make it icy an slippery. But when she did, the sound entered her mind too.
"AHHHH! NEESSS! HELP-ME!"
The crowd slipped on the ice, but Ness and Paula were in complete pain. Ness then suddenly exploded in PSI power. Every power he was capable of was released at buildings, houses, and people. People screamed for their lives, while others were blinded, numbed, or crazy. It was something involuntary done. Paula managed to clasp onto him, for Ness was teleporting to another area.

Paula felt she had stopped. But she kept going. Down a long dark chasm. There was a figure at the end.
"What are you doing?" asked Paula to the figure.
The figure is silent.
"Are YOU doing
this?"
Again, the figure was silent.
"TALK TO ME! Maybe I can help. You are making this happen, aren’t you? But why?"
Silence, but then the figure spoke in a faint voice, "T...h..e...y....w..a...n..t......the....P....S..............I. But...why....I don’t....know anymore..." The world that Paula was in suddenly exploded into white, and she woke up.
"Ohh...." moaned Paula in pain. She got up to observe the area.
"Dalaam. Ness! Wake up! We’re in Dalaam."
Ness was still unconscious, but Paula knew he would awaken soon. She did not understand the dream at all. She did not know what the figure was talking about, and WHY she was talking to him.
"Ohhh..Paula...where are we?"
"We’re in Dalaam."
Ness blinked his eyes, "Oh, man. What’s going on?"
"I don’t know. But I had a dream that someone is looking for our PSI, or something. Poo...do you think he can help us at all?"
"Poo...we haven’t talked to him in a while. Let’s go."
Dalaam look somewhat deserted. There were no signs of life either.
They walked up to the palace. It looked charred, burnt and cracked, like many of the other structures. All the plants were dead too. There were no guards, so they just walked in. The palace was silent. Then they saw Poo, sitting alone on his throne.
"Um, Poo?" asked Paula.
Poo suddenly jolted his eyes open. "Paula..Ness! How good to see you!" said Poo excitedly in his Dalaam accent.
"Poo, so...what’s going on?" asked Ness, "More importantly, what the heck happened here?"
"I do not know...it all occurred about a week ago...it was very late in the night. Then I heard an odd sound. I quickly ran outside of the palace, on the balcony. There, was a shooting star. But it did not look like a shooting star. It appeared more like...I am not sure. Something incomprehensive. It must have been immensely far away, or maybe not. But it was starting to land. And as it did, a loud mind piercing noise entered my mind. I looked to see if anyone would come outside because of this noise, but no one did. I only saw my master, and he said, ‘Poo......it’s....it’s....’ Then a white blinding light occurred, that rendered me unconscious. When I awoke, I realized everyone was gone, except for me."
"Well, that IS weird," commented Ness, "but nothing like that has been happening in Eagleland."
"What fate has fallen upon Eagleland?"
"Well," explained Paula, "There’s these silent earthquakes breaking out in Onett and Twoson. But the land doesn’t look like an earthquake. ‘Course, I’ve never really been in a real earthquake. Oh, and Ness and I are also having those pains in our heads. Ugh...they’re horrible!"
Poo was deep in thought. He then said, "Let’s go to Eagleland. There’s nothing left for me here...not right now, at least. Follow me, and I will take us to....Twoson." Ness and Paula followed Poo outside the palace, and Poo teleported them to Twoson.
When they arrived, everything was quiet.
"What is the problem here?" asked Poo.
"Well, I was in
the hospital, and the doctor was acting all weird. It was really
strange. He wanted to operate on EVERYONE. Something is
definitely wrong," explained Paula.
"Hmmm. I see."
"Let’s go to Apple Kid’s house," suggested Ness, "he told me to go back to his house."
"Okay", said Paula, "but I have to let my parents know I’m okay."
As they walked,
things became more and more strange. The buildings were charred,
like in Dalaam. The grass and vegetation was also dead. Then they
saw Burglin Park. It was completely empty, with all the goods and
vendors scattered around the land formation caused by the
earthquake.
"Poo! This is what happened when there was that
earthquake!" said Paula, "But WHERE is everyone? This
is creepy."
Poo analyzed the park. "This couldn’t have been an earthquake. The Earth is not capable of creating such an odd looking mass." Poo continued to think, as they walked to Paula’s home.
Paula tried to open the door. When she did, it just broke off. The door was charred, and no one was inside. Paula ran inside.
"Mom! Dad! Where...WHERE ARE YOU?!" she yelled.
"Poo! What is going on?!"
"I do not know, Ness. But there must be a connection to all of these happenings."
"Let’s go to Apple Kid’s house. He might know something. Come on Paula..."
"Mom...Dad...." Ness took Paula’s arm, and they went to Apple Kid’s house.

"This...this is hopeless," cried Paula.
"Don’t give up faith Paula!" announced Poo, "There is a solution to everything. It just needs to be discovered.
"But what about Pi?" asked Ness.
"Pi was a mathematical error created by men. The true solution to it is somewhere in the cosmos...my Master told me." Ness was astounded by Poo’s smooth answer. Ness knocked on Apple Kid’s door.
A scream was heard inside, "WAHHH!" then Apple Kid opened the door slowly.
"WHA- Ness! Paula! Poo! I’m so glad you guys are here!"
"Apple Kid! What happened here?" cried Paula.
"Well, I...I don’t know. You see, I went to Fourside to pick up some tools for something I’m working on. When I came back, everyone was gone, and everything was burnt."
"So, you don’t know what happened?" asked Ness.
"Nope. Well, maybe. I have a security camera on my house. I haven’t looked at it yet, but it may not work, because it appears everything, and every living thing has been blasted. But let’s take a look."
There was a VCR on one of the walls in Apple Kid’s house. He pulled out the tape. It was slightly scorched, but it appeared to be good. He then took out a TV and VCR from out of his closet, and put the tape in.
"Hope this works."
The TV was static, then flickered. There, was Twoson. In the background, the sounds from Burglin Park could be heard.
"There doesn’t seem to be a problem," observed Ness, "Fast forward it."
Apple Kid was hesitant, but fast forwarded the tape. There was suddenly a quick flash on the screen.
"Whoa! Hold up! Rewind it!" shouted Ness.
Apple Kid rewound it. He stopped before the flash. Some one was walking in the street. Then, a blast of white powder filled the area.
"What the-?" said the person in the street in great confusion. The camera was covered in white, but sound was still heard.
"HEY! What-WHAT’S GOIN’ ON?! AHHHH! Let me go! Where am I!? Help! HELP! AAAACK!..."
There were beam sounds and people screaming. A voice was speaking, but it was hard to make out. It appeared to say: "Ware......iz....tha....one....wit.....P...S...I?"
"Misssss.....ed. Thar....are....thre...eee...sir...."
"NoOoOoO. Take...anyway..."
"Ware...iz...de..one? Thee...one...we...sentttt?
"He...is...we...must...find...thar...P....S...I. The...little...one...is....fail....ling...punished.....we...leave...now...them..."
The friends were shocked at what they were hearing. Then a zooming noise was heard. And then nothing. They waited 5 minutes, until something happened. The white stuff on the camera, was coming off. It looked like Twoson had snowed. Except this "snow" was burning everything. Then, it eventually disappeared, and the camera cracked.
"Whoa..." said Ness in amazement. Paula was in despair, and Poo was pondering the situation. "Apple Kid..." asked Ness, "Can YOU make any sense of this?"
"No..I..it seems some, ‘visitors’ want something...like PSI. He said THREE, I think, so he must be referring to YOU three! You three DO use PSI. This thing is after you. This could be Pokey, or Giygas. It has to be!"
"No Apple
Kid," said Poo in his pondering voice, "Their
intentions seem to be different. They want us."
"Well, maybe it’s a relative of Giygas!"
"No...that can’t be it. However, anything is possible. But it is evident that they ARE after us, but they seem to be failing."
"But what about this ‘one they sent’?" asked Ness.
"Hmmm," thought Poo, "I cannot give an answer to that. NESS! We have to go to Onett! It may also be under attack by this creature."
"Ness...Poo.....Apple Kid...will we find my parents?" Apple Kid and Poo were silent, but Ness said bravely, "Of course we will! Don’t worry Paula!" He took her hand, and she smiled.
"Apple Kid, what will YOU do during this situation of turmoil?" asked Poo.
"Well, I guess I’ll just stay here alone in the basement."
"Oh..." said Poo.
"Alright. Now, you guys better go see what’s going on. Good luck." Apple Kid ran to the basement.

Ness’s sister Tracy was walking about Onett. She did not see or hear what had happened to Twoson. She continued walking. Then she saw some boys chasing another boy with long brown hair.
"Stupid jerks." said Tracy to herself. All of the kids ran past her. They headed to the forest. Tracy followed.
Tracy was about 50 feet away from the kids. The kids corned the boy who they were chasing. He was cornered by the Giant Step hill.
"Ha ha!" laughed one kid. He started throwing rocks at the boy. The boy covered his head.
The other kids joined it, "HA HA HA! Take this Toran!" They all continued to to throw rocks at Toran.
"Hey, have you guys seen Jeremy lately? He disappeared."
"Hmph..I dunno.
TAKE THIS TORAN!" *whap!* One of the children threw a rock
between Toran’s eyes.
Toran then said, "Jeremy....is gone..."
"What?" asked all the boys in unison.
"He is...gone...JUST LIKE YOU WILL BE! AHHHHH!"
Lightning filled the area. Then a wind started to blow, that blew Toran’s hair back. Toran lifted his hands, and the earth was lifted up beneath the boys.
"Whaaahhhaa!" screamed the boys in fear.
The land around Toran became distorted, and twisted. The land would go up, and down. Creating great hills, and deep holes. Tracy watched in horror, but she too was being caught up in all of this confusion.
The boys were then suspended up in the air. Toran blasted them into nowhere. The land stopped moving.
"Where are they?" asked Toran to himself, "I’m failing. I’m not doing my mission...and-who are you?"
Toran saw Tracy. "Um, hi," said Tracy in fear.
"YOU! Are you the holder of the...um...P..S..I?"
"PSI? No!"
"YES YOU ARE! You’re one of them! The one who possesses
all the powers! YOU’RE the girl!"
"NO! I’M NOT!" Tracy screamed. She ran as fast as she could, but Toran made the land become wavy. The land was raised all around Tracy. It was moving almost like it was water.
"NO! STOP!" she screamed.
"I haven’t failed yet! HA HA!"
Tracy was suspended in the air.
"Sir...here she is..." Tracy dissipated into nothing.
"Yes! I did it! I did-no...NO! How could I...I didn’t feel her mind! She wasn’t the one! No!! I must flee!" Toran ran off within the trees in fear.

Ness, Paula, and Poo arrived in Onett. There was a large commotion within the town. Police cars and officers were rushing everywhere. People were running around. Ness and his friends followed them. They were all heading to Giant Step. The friends saw what had happened. They were amazed.
The land was formed like a bowl. It was like someone put a huge bowl on the ground, and covered it in grass and dirt. The police were looking for witnesses. They found one petrified boy.
"Son," asked the officer, "Did you see what happened here?"
The boy looked to be 11 years of age, and he had blond hair, and his face was pale. "Y-y-yess..." he said.
"So, what happened?"
"W-w-well, these older kids wanted t-to beat up this other k-kid. A-a-and, they said I couldn’t be with them unless I h-helped. We chased the kid, b-b-but when they started throwing rocks at him, I got scared, and hid. T-t-then there was lighting and wind. And then my friends were blasted into space. And then a girl came out and then the boy made her go into space too! And I think he made this big bowl come up too! And there were earthquakes and thunder! OH! And then-"
"Alright, alright. I’ve heard enough son," said the officer in disbelief. He then chuckled to his fellow officer, "Heh heh. Did you hear that story that kid made? Kid’s these days...too many Nintendo games."
"I don’t know, Clancy. It could be true. How else can you explain this?"
"Well, I...do a search party for the missing children. And get that kid to some psychologist or something."
The officers walked away. Ness and his friends walked over to the kid.
"Hey Simon," said Ness.
"Oh, h-hi N-ness."
"Are you okay?" asked Paula.
"I think so. It was scary! And I never get scared...um, yeah. That girl..she looked so familiar.."
"Who was it?" asked Ness.
"It was...it was..." Simon’s face suddenly became pale, "OH no! Ness! It was your sister! I know it was!"
"What?!" yelled Ness, "Where...Where did she go?"
"I-I don’t know. She just...disappeared."
"Aw no..."
Poo then asked Simon, "Where is this ‘boy’ you are saying that made Ness’s sibling disappear?"
"Um, he...ran through there! Through the trees!"
Poo looked at Paula and Ness, "Obviously this young boy has something to do with all of these occurrences. We shall find him. Right?"
Ness and Paula nodded, and they all ran into the forest to search for this boy.

"I don’t see anything, or anyone," whined Paula.
"Hmmm, an interesting predicament," commented Poo.
"There must be SOMETHING around here!" retorted Ness, "There’s a clearing up ahead. We’re bound to see SOMETHING there!"
They continued walking until they reached the clearing.
"Well, Ness?" asked Paula.
"What?"
"Well, there’s nothing here."
"Hmmmm." Ness squinted his eyes. He saw a figure in the distance.
"There! Look! That must be the guy! Let’s go!" They ran closer and closer to the figure. He was sitting under an oak tree.
Ness panted, "Um...whew...uh...h-hello?"
The boy looked up startled.
"Toran?!" exclaimed Ness.
"What?"
"Um, do you know what happened back there?"
Toran was silent. He was analyzing Ness, and his friends closely.
"WELL?!"
Suddenly, Ness, Paula, and Poo felt the screech enter their mind.
"ARRGH! ARGH! AHHH!" they both screamed in pain.
"You...YOU! You
are the ones! YOU ARE THE ONES!"
"ARGH! AHHHH! NESS! POO! HELP!" screamed Paula.
"P-p-oo..."
"ARGH! NESS! It’s...here...ARGH! Him! AHHH!"
"YOU ARE THE PSI! You hold the PSI!" shouted Toran, "How could I have missed you..."
"AHHHH! Make it stop!" screamed Ness.
Toran stopped the mind hold screech.
"It’s time to take you away!" shouted Toran.
"What?!" the friends shouted.
"Ness! Paula! Prepare for battle!"
They all nodded. Poo pulled out the Sword of Kings.
Toran looked confused. "What are you trying to do?"
Ness and Paula gathered their thoughts on PSI.
"What do you think you can do? I’m here to harvest the universe’s power. PSI is the strongest of them all. I must take it from you, so you do not learn it’s true power."
"Indeed mental strength is the strongest of them all," said Poo on guard, "You can not harvest mental power. It comes from the soul."
"Yes. But we can."
Paula tried PSI Shield Sigma. Ness then tried PSI Rockin’ Omega. The rays hit Toran.
"Analyzing.....indeed, this is the PSI. Although you all are stubborn. You all are just puppets. The PSI controls you."
"NO!" shouted Poo, "We control the PSI. We have our own will."
"Yes, sure. I don’t know what to do...is this right to do to them...?" Toran was deep in thought.
Poo tried PSI Starstorm Omega. The Starstorm struck Toran, but he didn’t seem to notice.
Paula then used PSI
Freeze Omega. The block of ice hit Toran, but it dissipated
instantly. He then shouted, "WOULD YOU STOP! I’M TRYING
TO THINK!"
The sky grew dark. Wind filled the area. Then thunder and
lightning. The land area became wavy and distorted.
"Whaa! Argh! What’s goin’ on?!" shouted Ness.
Toran then emitted green beams of light. It damaged the friends greatly, and made them confused, except for Poo. Poo decided to remain on guard.
"He is much too powerful. Paula! Ness! You must remain on guard!" said Poo in the immense confusion.
"Whaargh! Whargh!" said Ness and Paula, running around in utter confusion.
"AHHH! I don’t know WHAT to think anymore!" shouted Toran.
The land stopped moving, and the lightning, thunder and wind stopped. Ness and Paula suddenly collapsed.
Poo went over to Toran and asked, "Where is it that you come from? What is your purpose? What are you trying to do?"
"Well, I...I come from, another, from what you people on earth call, ‘universe’. We are searching the areas everywhere for this source of power. We found many various types of power and energy, but we’re looking for the ultimate power. We then learned, that there was a large source of it, here, on what you call Earth."
"I see," said Poo, "Continue."
"But our plans were harder then we thought. We figured the power would be contained in a certain area, by the earth’s ruler, or in a sacred realm of some sort. But we could not find it. So we searched everywhere for it. We abducted people to scan them for the PSI. But we missed you three. It seems that the PSI or something protected you from our abduction."
"Yes. But who are YOU? What is YOUR purpose?"
"I...I rebelled against the leaders and rulers. I opposed their mad hunt for power. I was the only one that said that our powers were adequate. They threw me into what you call a ‘prison’. But they would release me on one condition. If I went to go on this search for the PSI. Why did they want me? The only reasons are because of my powers. Only chosen people from the sacred parchment on my world gain these powers. They also found out that my powers can locate large amounts of energy, or PSI."
"Incredible," said Poo in awe.
"But then when I realized that the power was in what you call ‘kids’, I became scared, because I did not want to harm them. But then I realized how cruel they were to me, just because I was different looking from them. This is just my temporary form. We aren’t made of matter where I come from. As I was saying, I realized how cruel all kids are, and I thought maybe they had the PSI, but they didn’t. I then started controlling people’s minds to find the PSI for me. I distorted the land because I was so angry. But after I kept failing, I was afraid of my world’s leader, who is leading this operation. So I ran everywhere, desperately trying to find you people. But now, that you’re here, I come back to my beliefs of not wanting to hurt you."
"But," said Poo, "You already have harmed us."
"What do you mean?"
"Well, your people abducted my people of my country Dalaam. Paula, and Ness, who lay slain over there, lost their families."
"Oh no..."
"I know I cannot defeat you, but what you have done is horrible. If you would slay me for that cause, then so be it."
"No...Poo. I agree with you. I sent everyone to the main ship in my world. I know they are still searching. But I will try with everything I have to help you and your friends to get your people back. But I need you, and your friends. For they have the PSI, and that’s the only way to defeat him. My powers can’t defeat him, because they are immune to it. But yours can."
"Well, I have no other choice, but to take your word." Poo used PSI Healing Omega on Paula and Ness.
"Ugh...wha-?"
"Oh...Ness? Poo?"
"Give them time to recover," said Toran.
"Um..yes. But there are still some unanswered questions I have, Toran."
"And what might they be?"
"What do you know about PSI? How exactly did you learn about it?"
"Well, our nation found high levels of energy emitting from a nearby ‘galaxy’. We learned that this being’s name was what you call ‘Giygas’. Then he suddenly disappeared. It took us a while to find Giygas. When we did, we realized he and his minions were defeated here on Earth. But we learned of a new mental strength. The ultimate one in the sacred parchment. The power of PSI."
"Yes. I suppose that makes sense. How long have you been here?"
"Well, in your time, I have been here for about two weeks."
"I see. And what about these screeching noises, and the this ‘snow’?"
"Well the screeching noises was because of me. I use it to pinpoint power. I don’t know why it gives you a screeching noise..Maybe it’s your PSI telling you something is wrong. As for this powder...it destroys all non-sophisticated life, so we can pinpoint more sophisticated life. I really see no point to it."
"Yes, that makes sense.:
"Quickly! Time
is running out! Soon, my nation will give up, but I know they
will still keep your people!"
"I agree. Ness! Paula! Awaken! We have much to do!"
"What-what’s going on? Toran, I never knew."
"I will describe it to you and Paula as we find the leader of my nation."
"Um, okay."
"Okay everyone, hang on. I will transport us to the headquarters. However, I will have to disguise you as my own kind. Do you think you can handle being in pure energy form?"
"Yeah, I guess so," said Ness hesitantly.
"Alright. Try to keep sane. We are off."
Toran looked at the ground and gathered his thoughts. He then looked up, raised his hands, and they were all blasted into a white unknown.

Ness opened his eyes. "Toran! Why is everything so dark!"
"Ness! Paula! Poo! You are everywhere! You MUST maintain a constant shape!"
"But HOW?" asked Paula.
"Use your unique mental strength. You should be able to get it. Because you are energy, you can change shape or form."
Poo then came together and he was in his normal shape.
"That’s impressive, Poo! But you cannot be in that shape. Look something like me. Or else, they will know that you are from Earth."
"I see," Poo then became a mere ball of yellow light.
"That is good enough. Paula! Ness! You must do the same!"
Paula condensed into
a beautiful blue complex of energy, and Ness was formed into a
red disfigured shape.
"I’m really messed up," said Ness.
"No, actually you look very convincing. Follow me."
Ness, Paula, and Poo, followed Toran. Although they weren’t exactly sure how they were following him in the disfigured corridors. The three friends saw some towns people surrounded by a strange force.
"Toran! Can we
help them?" asked Ness.
"NO! Not yet. We must defeat the leader first so this nation
I came from will fall, and so a new leader will emerge. Well
actually, YOU will have to do it. My powers are useless against
him."
"Oh. You’ll have to explain everything to me."
Toran then went on about the PSI, and he explained the earthquakes, and why people were abducted.
"Wow, that’s incredible. Well, let’s keep going. How much further?"
"Not much. You should start to feel his presence as soon as we draw near to him."
"Okay."
Sure enough, all three of them could feel him pulsating in their minds.
"Closer..." said Toran.
They walked, then Toran ordered them to stop.
"Be quiet. I will do all of the talking. You attack using your PSI when I say ‘NOW’."
"Alright," said Ness.
"SIR!" shouted Toran.
A glorious green light emerged. Then emerged the "leader" and his guards.
The leader was
talking in a very different language, but Ness, Paula, and Poo
managed to comprehend it.
The leader said, "YOU! Ah, you are the chosen one. I noticed
that you did not succeed."
"Well sir.."
"SILENCE! I should have known all along. Maybe our parchment is incorrect in-"
"Indeed it is incorrect!"
"SILENCE! I have not finished! It may be incorrect in saying that YOU are the chosen one. We cannot find the PSI anywhere! And!- who is with you? I don’t quite recognize them."
"Oh, these are mere simpletons from our world that managed to get on our ship sir."
"They look way too advanced to be just ‘simpletons’."
"Well..."
"WHAT ARE YOU
TRYING TO DO?! Take him away!"
"ARGH! NO!!" Toran used his powers, and the guards went
reeling back. The screech entered Ness and his friends’
minds. They then were starting to lose their energy form.
"It’s..." said Poo.
"AND!..WHAT IS GOING ON HERE!" shouted the leader.
"ARGH!"
yelled Toran.
Ness, Paula, and Poo reverted back to their matter form. They
were lost in a strange world that made no sense to them
whatsoever. Ness and Paula started losing their senses. But Poo
became conscience of a new power, PSI Matter Convert.
"Master..." Poo whispered, "H-hold on Ness and Paula!" Poo gathered his energy for this new power. And then blasted it into this strange world.
Everything converted to Matter. Toran took his earthly form. There were guards everywhere, confused and frightened. The leader was large and ugly.
"HA! EARTH PEOPLE! IS...this the PSI?"
"INDEED IT IS!" shouted Poo.
"You won’t survive, you can’t survive..."
"NOW! NOW!" shouted Toran.
Ness, Paula, and Poo gathered their wits and their thoughts. Ness used his strongest powers. PSI Rockin’ Omega.
"ARGH! The PSI...the Earthling’s favorite thing...PURGED into PSI!" The guards wept, and reverted to energy, then disappeared.
Paula then used PSI
Fire Omega. The remaining guards dissipated, and it hit the
leader.
"Fire...one of the earthly elements from the Earth."
Paula then used PSI Freeze Omega.
"ARGH! And COLD! AND ICE! More heart from the Earth."
Ness used PSI Flash Omega.
"ARRRGGHHH! The LIGHT energy! IT’S IMPOSSIBLE! From the earth’s nurturer...the sun.."
Finally, Poo used Starstorm Omega.
"The shaking off of the stars.....from the cosmos! AHHHH!" The leader dissipated into nothing, and the entire place exploded into every color.

Ness woke up in the field where they met Toran.
"Whoa...did we make it?" he turned to see Paula and Poo waking up.
"I think we did it guys!"
"Indeed," said Poo.
They then saw Toran.
"Toran!" shouted Paula.
"Thank you. Thank you all very much. I apologize greatly for all the hardships I have caused for you. But rest assured, everything is back to normal, as you knew it."
"Well, I don’t know what to say.." said Ness.
"Because of your bravery, people have realized how wrong the leader was, so.."
"So?" asked Paula.
"They appointed ME as the leader."
"Really! That’s great!" said Ness.
"I promise on my word, that my nation will never attack your world again."
"Thank you...um...Toran. Congratulations on your accomplishment."
"Yes. I have learned a lot from this world. The good and the bad of all of it. I’m glad I got a chance to see the good...which is your trust."
They nodded.
"I must go now.
Will we meet again? I doubt it. But you can see me up in the sky,
in the cosmos."
Toran smiled, then he was blasted into the great unknown.
The three looked at the sky. Ness then heard his sister’s voice. "Hey Ness! Guess what happened?!" The three friends smiled at each other. Even Poo. Ness ran home, as Poo and Paula also went back to their homes. They both went back to the people they knew they loved.
