Chapter 41

Battles of the Archangels: Overcoming Darkness

"Well, I guess this is the Deep Darkness" said Tom.

"I guess so, not the kindest looking place is it" said Dave looking out towards the marshland that was the Deep Darkness.  The water was bubbling like a witch's brew and looked like one as well.  The animals that lived there did not look to be of the friendly sort either.  This is where one of the legendary weapons was to have lied.  "We should get going then.  We don't have time to waste."

As Dave and Tom started to walk slowly and cautiously towards the Deep Darkness, Tom just had to ask something that had been bothering him for a while.  "Dave I have a quick question."

"Yeah, what is it?" Dave asked.

"How did you know to go to Twoson when Mike and Gorin were fighting?" Tom asked.  Dave never had given a reason for leaving Saturn Valley that day.  Just the note he left that Poo found and that only Poo to this day still knew about.

"Before my parents died, my mother had the ability of clairvoyance.  In turn, so do I.  I never developed the ability in fear of what I could see, so I see things that are random and usually meaningless.  When I first saw Mike lying on the ground in the distance back in Siberia, I had a vision of extreme significance" Dave explained.

"Go on, I'm not going to stop you."

"Well, it was the most disturbing thing I ever saw.  A girl of about eighteen had a blade being held to her neck by someone screaming for her to give him something.  A young boy with red hair quickly dashed forward at a speed I never thought possible and hit him as hard as he could with a flying kick to head and told the other to let his sister go.  He was unfazed and his words were 'Oh, so this is your sister' and slit her throat with the blade killing her instantly.  He quickly took a stone with a gold chain wrapped around it and looked at the boy with disgust.  A quick fight ensued where the boy was captured and nearly killed in the process.  Before the vision cut, I saw a sign that said Twoson, and knew I had to go there.  Thankfully, I was able to change one outcome of that vision" Dave explained.

"Actually, you prevented two outcomes from happening.  One, the death of Mike's sister.  Two, the Four Horsemen of Apocalypse taking possession of the sound crystal.  Mike had given that to his sister Rachel so no one would find it until the location of the last sanctuary was known.  They must have found out somehow and attacked her.  That would explain Gorin's presence in Twoson was not to draw us out.  It was to claim the sound crystal.  Dave, your presence in Twoson probably tipped the scales into our favor, now knowing the alternate outcome.  Many things happened as a result of that battle between you and Gorin, then Mike and Gorin that made it that important.  Granted you two lost, but you prevented many things from happening that were worse than losing.  I applaud you for your act Dave."

"Thank you" Dave said gratefully as he and Tom started to walk towards a now very visible curtain of darkness.  "Better get out that hawk eye Poo gave us.  Looks like we'll need it now."

Tom took out the hawk eye and used its power to lift the darkness.  They could see how treacherous the Deep Darkness really was now.  It's swamp boiled even more than before they used the hawk eye.  The fumes coming from the water were enough to choke someone if they breathed too deeply.  Even the slightest sniff seemed to give a burning sensation in your lungs.  Tom stuck a stick into the water and then pulled it out.  The part of the stick that was underwater no longer existed.  "I guess it's safe to assume that the water is poisonous.  It seems deep enough in some places to come over our heads in someone areas.  Even that might be enough to some serious damage if we were underwater for a long enough period.  Hey Dave did you hear what I just..." Tom started to say as he saw Dave walking on the swamp water as if it was solid ground.  "That is just so wrong" Tom said under his breath.

"An old form of magic, Tom, it allows me to walk on the snow in Siberia when I'm hunting for food.  It also allows me to walk on water since it is the same principle.  It is called light foot as it creates a solid barrier between you and the surface you seem to be walking on.  It should keep us out of the water so we don't feel the effects of the poison beneath us.  Go ahead, I cast it on you as well." Dave said as Tom put his foot out and started to slowly and cautiously walk towards Dave.  "You'll get used to it after a while.  You won't even know you're walking using magic.  Come on, we have three miles to walk before we get to the location on this map.  I suggest we start now with the limited time we have."  As Dave and Tom started to walk location on the map Mike's computer printed out, they noticed all the animals were running away from them like they had encountered presences like theirs before and did not want to deal with them again.

"Makes sense that if they had the hawk eye they would have been down here before.  They must have done a number on the aggressive wildlife here if they won't even deal with us.  Then again, they also aren't under Giygas's spell anymore either" Tom thought to himself as it seemed odd that the wildlife did not even attempt to attack them.

"I wonder if this is where the Tendas reside.  My mom told me stories about them but I never got to see one.  Maybe after I get my weapon maybe I can try to find their village" Dave thought as he and Tom still had about a good mile left on their walk.

After about an hour, Tom and Dave had made it to the location on the map, but nothing was there.  It was bleak and desolate with no water or life around.  "What better place to hide a weapon than here?" Tom thought to himself as he knew they were in the right area.

"No wonder nothing is here.  The ground is coated in the poison that was in the water, just in a much higher density" Dave thought to himself as he could easily smell the poisonous fumes coming from the ground.  "Nothing could survive here for more than a few hours.  Something had to of caused this tremendous amount of poison to be concentrated here.  This is the place."

After about an hour of waiting in the same place, Dave's spell had started to wear off and now Dave and Tom had to deal with the highly poisonous ground to stand on.  Tom got a weird feeling as his feet hit the ground.  He had never felt anything like it before.  He was not psychic by any means so he felt that it was just the poison getting into him and shrugged it off.  "What now Dave?"  Tom asked wondering where to go to from here.

"Digging for the weapon is out.  I think I know what to do and why this poison is highly concentrated here.  Nyxx!  Reveal yourself, archangel of darkness!"  Tom's eyes opened wide in reaction at what Dave had just said.

"What are you doing Dave?  That's not going to do anything.  There is no archangel here.  Even if there was, he would not come out for you if you call for him like that."

"Actually, I'm female thank you very much" said a girl's voice with a slight giggle.  A dark shadow soon materialized and started to come towards Dave and Tom at a walking pace.  "I don't blame you.  Most people think Nyxx is a guys name anyhow."  A voice came from the dark cloud.  It seemed to have a beautiful contralto tone of an eighteen year old girl.  That couldn't be thought, since archangels had to easily be older.  Not to mention this one had no form but a dark shadow.  "It's been a while since I have had any visitors here.  What is your reason for being here young ones?" said the shadow.

"We came to claim the weapon of light that resides here.  The Four Horsemen of Apocalypse have been revived by their ancient curse cast upon them eons ago to make sure they were truly unstoppable destroyers.  Please, let us have the weapon without conflict so that we may defeat them before they realize their full potential once again!"  The shadow soon started to take form of a human shape.  Soon, a young teenager no older than eighteen stepped out onto the ground to reveal herself.  She had beautiful brown hair that just reached her ankles.  The black and white gown she had on was probably the most beautiful thing ever seen.  It patterns were perfectly placed to make her dazzling presence her more beautiful.  Tom's and Dave's eyes nearly bulged right out her beautiful body.  Her face told a different story.  Not one of innocence that her body told but one of great determination and wisdom.  Which made her face even more stunning and her even more attractive.

"Drat!  They're back already.  I guess the Destined Ones defeated Godan sooner than I had thought" said the girl as she closed her eyes.  "Ah yes, I can definitely feel the dark auras of those four now.  You horsemen certainly took your time trying to get the four sacred weapons then.  First let me introduce myself, my name is Nyxx, the archangel of darkness and purity.  I know it sounds like and oxymoron to you two, darkness and purity, but trust me.  I represent both.  Darkness is not something of evil but that of comfort.  Those who fear it, like the majority of the human race, have no respect for the beauty that comes from the darkness.  Even the light that so many worship cannot not exist without it's beautiful opposite, the night.  For those who could respect the beauty the darkness could let one see that the light could not could also respect the purity part.

"Yes, we defeated him already.  I'm one of the five who defeated Godan originally.  My name is Tom.  I guess you know why we are here so could you just give us the weapon and we can be on our way" Tom commented after looking Nyxx's entire body over about three times.

            "No."

"What do you mean no?!  We don't have time to play games here!  If you want the weapon back after we're done with it you can have it.  Dave here just needs it so he can help finish off the Four Horsemen of Apocalypse" Tom reacted almost right after Nyxx finished her answer.

"That's the point.  We don't have time to play games here, and we can't waste anymore time.  No one more than me wants those four gone for eternity than I do.  I can not just give such a valuable weapon away either.  All ten of you in your current states would not even stand a chance against those four right now even.  Let alone their full potential when they reach it.  Whatever Fates you are to use, powers that you tap into, abilities you may gain, you ten could not even scare those four right now.  Even with the weapons of light, you would not have a prayer.  Allow me to show you why" Nyxx explained as she closed her eyes.  Eight bulges started to appear from the back of her gown as they exploded suddenly into a flash of eight wings, eight black wings.  Each wing had to be at thirty feet in span starting from her back going to the tip, but that was a rough estimate.  God only knew how long they were in reality.  Let alone they were black, meaning that she was an archangel of different sorts.  All legends told that archangels had shining white wings, not abyss black wings that could frighten most people to death thinking that a demon just appeared.  Not to mention their length probably signified her intense power.  Dave was holding his power sensing pendant in his left hand at that moment and the second those wings came out the pendant turned a brilliant white and started to pull towards Nyxx with tremendous force.  It was so much that the chain started to go into his hand enough that it started to bleed even more with each passing moment.

"My God, she must have more power than all Four Horsemen of Apocalypse combined.  I sure hope she doesn't want to fight us because we won't last long" Dave thought to himself as he started to cringe from the pain the chain was starting to cause him.  He quickly wrapped it around his Magicant Bow so it wouldn't fly away or damage his hand permanently.

"One question, how did you know who I was and know to call me out?" Nyxx questioned Dave as she was wondering how anyone knew about her.

"There is not an Avalonian descendant who doesn't know about you, Nyxx.  The legendary archangel who allowed us to use the once forgotten art of magic again to advance to a peaceful society.  Rumors said you secluded yourself here, once I was here I knew the darkness only penetrable by the hawk eye was your doing.  I bet you even created that item so someone could walk through the Deep Darkness didn't you" Dave replied.

"You're an Avalonian by blood, oh how pleasant this will be then.  You have a tortured soul that makes you vulnerable.  Let me fix that for you" Nyxx said as she started to lift her right hand in the air like she was summoning something.  Tom look around and saw a dark pool starting to form and swirl beneath Dave.

"Dave! Move it right now!" Tom screamed but the pool quickly rose up and swallowed Dave and took and semi-spherical shape.  "What did you do to him?!" Tom said he angrily unsheathed his katana.

"As I said, all ten of you in your current state cannot defeat the Four Horsemen of Apocalypse no matter how hard you fight.  I'm just ridding that one of his biggest weakness, his grief" Nyxx explained.

"He has that grief because his parents were murdered by Godan when he was a young boy!  I think he still has a reason to be grieving even to this day!  What kid would not grieve over something so traumatic?  Alone in that darkness, that is all he will start to think about in there.  How he has failed the final wish he swore to his parents.  You're going to torture him to death" Tom yelled to Nyxx with all his heart.  Tom swung his katana one inch away from Nyxx's face, right in-between the eyes.

"Are you trying to threaten me with the that puny blade?" Nyxx winked and broke the katana right in half just by dropping her eyelid.  "That puny little weapon would not have scratch me anyway.  I have no desire to fight you, and the fact you would never win against me even makes that desire even less."

"I do.  I will until you release Dave from that prison that you put him in" Tom said with a fiery tone in his voice.

"I guess he underestimates his friend.  He should break out of there, and when he does.  I'll see what happened to him to see if he's worthy yet, if not, then I'll push him until that tremendous hidden power I sensed comes out.  He's an Avalonian after all.  That should mean he should have a tremendous increase once he overcomes that grief that constantly eats away at him.  I'm doing him a favor for the future anyhow, because that grief would have killed him eventually if I didn't try to purge it.  I am the archangel of darkness and purity after all" Nyxx thought to herself as she knew that she would have to try and not kill Tom while Dave underwent his test.  She could easily kill Tom with a finger if she wanted to but decided to stall and try not to let him have at her.

"Wow, I can't even se my own hand in here.  It's like I do not exist anymore.  That I'm a spirit that just floats around and thinks.  Time to get out of here" Dave thought himself inside his new prison.  He pulled out his Magicant Bow, after some searching, and let loose a rain of arrows like tomorrow was not going to come.  They were just swallowed by the darkness.  Thoughts started to play through Dave's mind as they usually did, but now it was all he had.  Those thoughts were painful for him because he could only think about his mother and father at this point.  Soon, he went to his knees crying because everything was now centered around his parents’ death and how he might have been able to prevent it.  "I should have went with them that day!  I should have gone!  Why did they have to die?!  I could have saved them!"

Chapter 42

Battles of the Archangels:  Light in the Infinite Darkness

"Nyxx, go to Hell!" Tom screamed as he charged at Nyxx full force.  Nyxx simply put her hand up and hit Tom in the chest which sent Tom flying about a hundred feet.  "Damn!  How strong is she?  No one has ever been able to that to me so effortlessly before.  I will defeat her though.  Dave might be stricken with grief, but he is still only fourteen years old.  That type of grief eating away like that is enough to kill him in darkness like that."

Tom quickly got up and charged Nyxx again but Nyxx just simply dodged Tom's punch.  Tom then went straight up to Nyxx and started punching and kicking with every form of martial art he knew.  Every time he did something Nyxx would just simply dodge or block completely unfazed.  Judo, kung fu, drunken, mantis, stealth, shadow; all these forms of martial arts Tom knew and he was doing his best but Nyxx easily beat him move for move.  "I see someone has trained quite a bit in the martial arts.  No matter how much you know, pure strength will not defeat me.  Not like it matters.  Just wait for him to break out of there.  You do not have to fight me."

"I will until he's released" Tom said once again as he charged Nyxx again but this time even faster than before.  "Let me show you what I can do with my art!"  Tom immediately went for a kick straight to Nyxx's head and landed it.  Nyxx just simply moved her head and grabbed Tom's left arm as he flew by.  She simply flicked her wrist and Tom easily broke the sound barrier once Nyxx threw him, evidence being the boom that Tom made the second Nyxx threw him, as Tom hit a tree and went through that, and then hit the tree behind him almost going threw that but falling to the ground soon after hitting the second tree.

"That should keep you down and out for a few hours until your friend gets out of my prison.  Keep going when you get up and I might accidentally kill you" Nyxx said to herself as she started to walk away.

"Not so fast Nyxx, I'm not done with you yet" said a voice weakly.

"You're stronger than I gave you credit for.  You going to quit or do I have do that again."

Tom quickly rolled up his sleeve on his martial arts clothing to show something to Nyxx, an Nyxx's eyes went wide open seeing what she did.  "I was a fool for leaving such a handicap on myself.  Maybe I should take these off then" Tom said as he started to take off his shirt.  What Nyxx saw was an incredible sight.  Under that shirt was another shirt covered in talismans, about fifty of them.  The wind soon picked up and the shirt was not flapping in the wind, maybe depicting a tremendous mass the shirt possibly had.

"I see how you where able to get up so quickly, some of those are armor talismans lessening the damage you would normally take.  Also, that shirt doesn't seem to want to move so I'm guessing the weight you are wearing must be enough to restrain your power.  Some of those talismans I don't recognize, tell me.  What are they?"

"Attack talismans and limiters.  Here, let me show you" said Tom as he ripped a talisman off and threw it towards Nyxx. She simply stared at it and the talisman exploded in a ball of flames.  Tom quickly starting stripping off every talisman on his body in panic, only keeping a few in hand.  He threw the rest of what seemed like attack talismans straight at Nyxx but not one made it ten feet as the rest exploded into flames as they approached her.  The shirt suddenly started to flap in the wind.  "Those limiters add weight to the shirt which felt like having bricks strapped to the body, and some also limit my physical power.  I knew those talismans wouldn't probably work but all of that was so I could handle this" Tom said as he started to pull something from his back.  "My clothing kept this hidden" said Tom as a pulled the strange looking katana Mike gave him out.

"Fine then" Nyxx winked again to try and destroy the katana like the last, but this one didn't break.

"This won't break unless crushed by physical force.  This blade was coated with an ancient liquid that deflects energy protecting its user.  Meaning that trick won't work again.  This also has been sharpened to a fine tip and is diamond coated.  As well as it was sharpened and micro-serrated to the molecule using lasers.  It took me three years to make this blade, the Wolf's katana."

"You made a katana like that.  Tell me, is it part of your training to make such weapons?" Nyxx inquired.

            "Of course."

"This might be more difficult than I thought then.  If he's who I think he is, he might be able to live even if he fights me" Nyxx thought to herself as she saw Tom starting to stretch preparing for the next round.

            Meanwhile...

"Let me out!" Dave's cry was absorbed by the seemingly impenetrable darkness that now surrounded him.  He had to get out.  All he could think about now was his life in general.  How lonely it had been since his parents passed on.  He could no longer take it anymore.

His anxieties were starting to catch up to him now.  Anxieties that for years he had been suppressing to just try and make it by.  The few people he had met after his parents had passed away had helped him somewhat, but only a little.  He absorbed himself into his training himself as the ultimate fighter because of this.  Maybe, he thought, if he trained hard enough he would not have to experience a premature death like his parents.  Even he knew nothing could be done about their deaths, he could do something about his.  "It was all for you two, not for myself.  But why did you accept your fates so quickly.  Why did you not fight like I am right now.  You could have trained and prepared me for something like this!" Dave thought to himself as he could no longer take it.  His mind started to wander, remembering.

"This darkness that swirls all around me, like in my dreams.  In those dreams, we are together enjoying ourselves in our home.  Me playing next to the open fire with Dad sitting in his favorite chair reading his new book and Mom taking time away from her useful self enjoyment of talking to her friends who have come down for the week to play with me or introduce me.  Then sudden darkness comes down separating the three of us from the world around us at first.  Then it slowly takes you two away from me.  I try to run towards you to but it starts to take you away that much faster.  Mom tries to reach her hand to take mine but I can never get it.  Then, you two are gone, just like that day when I found you two lying there, dead.

"I guess you two will never tell me why you accept that fate dealt to you even when you knew.  If you thought you could just leave here and everything would be fine, you were wrong!  You still had a son who loved and still loves you with all his heart to this very day.  You could have cared for him.  Made sure that he had a childhood!  Let him be able to play with his friends while still helping him train for the pivotal battle that will soon ensue.  Why did you have to leave, WHY??????!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Dave's mind was slowly being eaten away in the darkness.  It was like the darkness was bringing all those horrible thoughts, memories, and nightmare back to him and allowing nothing else to get through.  Not thoughts of happiness and joy, but only sorrow and pain.  Dave was trying to beat the darkness, but it was starting to swallow him just like it did his parents in that nightmare.  Only this time it was not swallowing him physically like it would his parents, but it would swallow him mentally.

"Awe, that feels good.  It's been two years since I've been able to take those talismans off.  I haven't felt like this since a child, so free.  Shall we start then" Tom said as in a blink of an eye he started to run towards Nyxx full speed.  Tom quickly spun around and swung his katana right towards Nyxx's neck trying to at least scratch her.  Nyxx just simply did not move as the blade made contact.  Tom could not even draw a drop of blood no matter how hard he forced it in.  He could not break her skin either.  Nyxx seemed to forget about what Tom said, at least Tom thought so, and started to draw the blade back like a saw.  This was the strength of the Wolf's katana, to make first contact then draw back quickly and it would impale a person in under a second.  It was, as Tom put it to the others when he first joined, "A one hit, instant kill blade".  Once Tom had drawn the blade all the way back, he could see the skin still did not break.  "Impossible!" Tom panically thought as he quickly drew back to think of something else.  "What is she?"

"This boy actually thought such a primitive move could beat me" Nyxx thought to herself as she flung her hair behind herself as she looked on at Tom.  "He's gotten faster since he took those talismans off, but not even close to where he should be at the moment.  He might be a strength fighter instead of speed, but I can't be sure."  Nyxx finished that thought Tom charged forward again tried to land a few punches and kicks to the vitals: heart, lungs, neck, knees, and lobes.  Nyxx just stood there unfazed as ever as she snapped her fingers and made a huge gash in Tom's left arm.  Tom reached into his pants pocket and pulled a syringe which he quickly injected into his right arm and the wound started to close immediately.

"It's him alright.  Only two people in the world have access to that type of medicinal technology.  That would be the head of the Shadow Arts School and the chosen student to succeed the master.  My guess is by those talismans he wore that he's the student.  Now I really CAN'T kill him" Nyxx thought to herself while watching Tom's wound close up.

Tom immediately started to charge forward again but this time he looked really serious.  He started an illusion like strike at Nyxx with his katana but Nyxx dodged it like she knew the placement of each stab.  "Won't this boy just give up already.  He knows he his completely outclassed in both power and skill.  The Horseman of Power will be fine.  Why is he so willing to throw away his life?  Could it be that he does not know yet?  It must be" Nyxx thought as she kept dodging Tom's stabs making sure one did not make contact, as they might break the sword.

Nyxx finally took the initiative and grabbed Tom's Wolf's katana and quickly proceed to twist Tom's arm while she was only holding the katana.  "Are you going to quit now?  Right now I'm running my hand up against the sharpened end of this blade of yours and it is not even cutting the skin.  Why do you keep fighting when even you should realize by now that you cannot win?"

"You actually think I've been giving it all I have.  How many talismans did I take off my body?  And of those, how many do think were limiters?” Tom asked while cringing in pain as Nyxx tighten her hold.

"I counted ninety talismans, of those about forty were limiters, thirty were attack talismans, and twenty armor talismans.  Am I right?"

"Yes, you are" Tom said defiantly as he untwisted his katana and arm, twisting Nyxx's in the process and hurling her forward with everything he had.  Nyxx quickly spread her wings and stopped herself in mid-air upside down.  Tom threw her high enough that not even her wings straighten out would have touch the ground.

"He caught me off guard there.  That was a little surprising" Nyxx thought to herself as she let out a slight giggle.  "Now, where did he go?"  Nyxx wondered as she looked around as she could not see Tom anywhere on the ground.  The next thing Nyxx saw was a piece of metal closing in from the air at a high rate of speed going for her face.

"Samurai Slice!"  Tom howled from mid-air as he dropped down with katana in hand striking Nyxx with his best attack.  It's a one slash attack so strong it is actually considered a Fate because a large amount of energy flows through the blade and it's actually rumored to harden and sharpen the sword he uses.  Meaning not only does it put a high level of energy into the target to soften them up but the sword itself is enhanced to make sure the job gets done.  The only way to survive it is to dodge, and Tom just scored a direct hit.

"If that doesn't neutralize you then I will give up" Tom said to himself as he looked at the smoke his attack had caused while still grasping his blade trying to see if he put at least cut in Nyxx.  He was still airborne at the same height he made the attack.  It felt like the blade had stopped on something but he wasn't sure if it had gotten stuck going through or if Nyxx had stopped the attack.

"A Fate, that's what all that attacking me was for.  So you could build up the connection between body and spirit and crush me with a final blow, nice try" a voice said as the smoke started to clear.  Tom was shocked by what he saw.  Nyxx's face was completely unscaved as more and more smoke clear.  Then the coup de gra occurred once everything had cleared.  Nyxx had simply caught the blade effortlessly between her thumb and index fingers right were the sharpest point of the blade was.

"Impossible! That was my best attack, how could you block that?!  That can cut the Titan's armor, how could you block that?!" Tom screamed in absolute disbelief as he saw that this fight was over and Nyxx had won without having to even break a sweat while even Tom's ultimate attack was made to look like a children's toy.  Tom then fell to the ground hard, shocked by what just happened.  He gave it everything he had, yet this archangel made him seem like a joke.  All he could do now was wait and pray Dave would be okay.

The tears that struck the bottomless darkness were unmistakable.  They were tears of grief and sadness.  Dave was losing his mind at a very rapid rate while Tom and Nyxx were fighting.  Dave tried magic to break out of the darkness, but nothing he did was effective.  He could not even cast a spell, as if his words were swallowed by the darkness not allowing for the proper energy manipulation required to do magic.  He only had one more option left, his Magicant bow.  He started to lift it up and pull the string back, but he was so unstable at this point that he could not even pull the string back straight let alone make an accurate shot.  The arrow would not even form now making the bow completely useless unless he manually loaded up an arrow.  He could not even do that as he could hold one he was shaking so bad.  "This is it huh, I'm to be consumed by the darkness like my parents were in my nightmares.  I guess I have to accept this like I did my parents' deaths.  Mom, Dad, I gave it my all.  Sorry it was not enough" Dave said as he fell to the ground face first.

"You say you gave it your all but did you truly" said a voice.

"How can you just give up on everything you have achieved?  How can you give up on yourself and your friends?  How can you give up so easily when the fate of the world is at stake?!" said another.

"What use am I anyways?  I can't even break out of this cell I'm in right now.  How can I, fourteen year old boy, be expected to help defeat the Four Horsemen of Apocalypse?" Dave replied.

"Our ancestors would be disappointed with you David" said the second voice once again.  That caught Dave's attention, and he noticed that voice was a familiar voice of a woman.

"Because you can, my son' said the first voice.  Dave sprang to attention as he recognized that as his father's voice.  He quickly put two and two together and realize that the other was his mother.

"Mom, Dad, how is this possible?  How can you speak to me from beyond the grave like this?"

"This is a one time thing, so listen closely.  Dave, we accepted our destiny because it was to protect you.  The reason that we were murder is because we fought to the very end.  We knew they were coming to murder someone, but it was not us.  Those evil beings were after you Dave.  They knew you were the most vulnerable and easiest to find since you were the most isolated from the masses.  We set out that day to make sure that we were far enough away that they would not find our home which you were peacefully playing in.  We fought the invaders to the very end making sure we took the location of our home, and more importantly you, to our graves.  Understand it was not an easy fate for us to accept" said Dave's mother as Dave could tell that her words were heart felt.

"Son, you can chose to fight or not, but is your own grief even worth all the energy your giving it.  Think about the others in the world who lost their parents to murder and were orphaned.  How many did what you did and have live out their lives.  Do you know how many just give up and throw away their lives.  Dave, your spirit is your greatest assets.  You just keep going, no matter how difficult things get.  Are you going to let something like the darkness surrounding you get to you?!" Dave's father scolded him like it would be the last time which it was.  Dave then felt a warm hand on his shoulder.

"Here are my last words to you Dave, my son.  Weapons do not win wars, spirits do.  No matter how superior an opponent, there is always one weakness that you can exploit and it will be the only blow you need.  This world you fight for is cherish enough that your two parents would sacrifice themselves so their son could save it.  Remember Dave, we love you with all our heart like you do to us.  Now go back to the world, and let it know happiness and peace once again!"  After those words Dave felt a kiss on his forehead and the voices that were his parents were gone.

Dave stood up after that and felt reborn.  He felt like nothing could stop him now.  He went from nothing to something once again.  He felt his forehead and felt a warmth that should not have been there.  That kiss he had placed on his forehead is what finally broke him out of his self-pity.  All that was left was to leave Nyxx's prison and claim what was rightfully his!  "What can beat the darkness?  What can exist without light but I still know exists?  What is it Dave think?"  Dave sat down and thought about it but was drawing blanks.  He then started to feel the hilt of the Soul Blade, and it hit him like a ton of bricks.

"The soul, regardless of race, gender, and stature that it might have in the living world, are all equal in the Heavens.  Even more so, it can always exist and shine in the infinite darkness."  Dave drew his Soul Blade but really had no knowledge of how to use it.  "I can't even see hand in front of my face in here.  I guess I'll have to change that."

In the Deep Darkness, Tom was exhausted and in shock to the point where he could no longer move.  Nyxx had been standing there over Tom's body and floating his body slightly over the poisonous ground making sure it would not infect him.  She had taken back her human form letting her wings go back inside her body and all she had been doing for the last hour was wait for Dave to break out of that semi-sphere of darkness she had put him in a while back.  "He should have come out of there a while ago.  Maybe I underestimated him.  That or I tortured him beyond belief and he's having trouble resisting the mental punish the chamber can inflict.  I'm sure he'll overcome it though" Nyxx spoke calmly to herself as she was only paying attention to the semi-sphere that she had incased Dave in a few hours back.

Tom's eyes started to open as the first thing he saw was the black prison still only a few feet away from him.  "Damn, he didn't make it out yet" Tom said to himself as he started to rise.

"I see your up" a brunette said as Tom looked behind him to see that Nyxx was still around with her eyes fixated on the prison that Dave was still in.  Tom started to reach for his katana but Nyxx shook her head.

"Don't even try it.  I've already proven the fact that you can't even scratch me.  Oh yeah, take about five steps to your left" Nyxx said as Tom immediately did what she said, not wanting to mess with her after she kicked the living daylight of out him without lifting more than a finger.

Tom in only seconds would see why Nyxx told him to move.  A white vertical light cut through the prison Dave was in from the inside and went right by where Tom was standing.  "I guess I should not have doubted Nyxx went she said he would get out on his own" Tom thought as the prison started to slowly break down.  In a few seconds all that stood there was Dave with an angry look on his face holding his Magicant bow in firing stance.

"Hello Nyxx, let's dance" Dave said as he fired an arrow from his bow straight towards Nyxx.  She easily caught it with ease.  He then let loose a volley of twenty more arrows at Nyxx which see all caught without any effort at all.

"Impressive, his power seems to have gone up by how fast he just did that" Nyxx thought as she started to walk towards Dave.  "Hit me with your most powerful magic, right now."  Dave started to chant to himself as always but Nyxx stopped him.  "Not that silent self chant stuff.  Do it like you mean it."

"Ro-ah-ne-soul-cha-sa-ty-ou-ne-ah..." Dave went on as anyone could easily see that the energy around Dave was being properly manipulated into a magic attack.  Energy started to swirl around Dave as Tom started to back up knowing that something big was about to happen.  Suddenly the energy started to gather into orbs of different colors of light.  The colors were black, red, yellow, orange, blue, green, and brown.

"Ah the seven dragons, that's pretty advanced for someone your age" Nyxx comment as she would obviously know the magic Dave was about to use.  After all, she did give the Avalonians the gift of magic.

Dave stopped his chanting and was standing there with seven orbs of different colors right in front of him.  "You think you know what's next don't you.  The standard combinations and abilities that come from these orbs when absorbed and combined.  Well, you haven't even seen what I can do with this yet so don't assume you know" Dave spoke defiantly as he grabbed his bow with his right hand and grabbed the blue orb with his left.  "I call this seven dragon ballistics" Dave said as he pulled back the string of his bow with orb in hand as the orb formed into an arrow an Dave fire straight for Nyxx and scored a direct hit kicking up debris everywhere clouding any visual status of his target.  He then proceeded to fire the other six orbs as arrow and seemingly hit its mark.

"Nice variation, I must admit your further along than I thought" said a voice from the debris.  As it cleared, Nyxx became visible again, unfazed as usual.  "I did my job and what you just hit me with proves it.  Your power has gone up.  Now, do you feel held back by that built up emotion you had keeping a while back."

"I don't feel it anymore but, it was not your doing.  More went on in there than you think.  This is the best I've felt emotionally in years, so thank you".

"Good to hear.  I believe this belongs to you" Nyxx said as she formed a bow in her hands.  "This is Savior's Power.  This bow here has enough power to make you able to possibly beat those four monsters."  Nyxx slowly walked towards Dave and handed him the bow.  When Dave touched it he felt that it was extremely light but had a massive energy flow in it for some reason.  Nyxx disappeared into the Deep Darkness after that with the words "Leave this place now, your friends are looking for you."  With that Dave left with his weapon in hand with Tom in front of him to go back to where Poo dropped them off.

"I'll test this thing later, I just want to sit down and enjoy the temporary peace that I can experience for the first time in years now.  Thank you Mom and Dad, I will always remember what you told me.  You two can now rest in peace" Dave thought to himself as a slight tear trickled down his left cheek.
