The Starman Perspective by ramblin_mushroom Chapter 3: A Son's Journey Starman was quickly thinking of who he could send after Buzz Buzz as he ran to his troops barracks. He only had three very reliable men under his command, and two of them were off on assignment. The third was his son, which even though he was truly proud of him, he did not think he was ready for such a big mission. He was on the verge of just going himself when his comm beeped. "Starman here, go ahead." he answered. "Dad? What's up? What did Deluxe tell you? Is there anything I can do?" came the voice of Starman Jr. on the other end. Starman quickly explained the entire situation to his son. "So, I was thinking of who I could send and I guess its dwindled down to you or some other cadet. I was going to go myself......" Starman paused. "Why don't you want me to go, Dad?" Jr. said to break the silence, "I'm good enough. I was the fastest cadet ever to reach my rank. I got high marks in all of my tests, I even have ten complete missions under my belt. Come on, Dad, you know I can do this." Starman sighed, "I know you can. I know you are capable of many things. You have a bright future in front of you, I guarantee you that, but thats why I don't want to send you. Son, Buzz Buzz is an admirable foe, he could take on Deluxe for crying out loud, I just don't know if you're ready to face something like him yet." "Dad.............I know you worry about me sometimes, but don't. I'm not little anymore, I can do this. Just give me a chance to prove myself. I won't fail," Jr. sighed a little, "I also know that you think the same thing that happened to Alpha will happen to me, but it won't, Dad. I can beat Buzz Buzz." Starman was silent for a few minutes, thinking of his eldest son, Starman Alpha, who was killed at Astral Turn, when he got caught in the cross fire. He thought about it for a few more minutes before answering, "Meet me at the Distortion Center, I'll give you your Briefing there. Over." He turned off his comm and thought it over for a few more minutes before he was sure he was going to go through with it. He figured that Jr. could take Buzz Buzz in his weakened state, and he was right, he could of, if it not for one overlooked detail.......... Minutes later, Jr. was waiting at the door to the Distortion center, one of the highest secured levels on the base, and with good reason. If you altered time without knowledge of what to do and what not to do, you could easily rip the space time continuum. Jr., however, was never taught in the ways, and could not enter the Facility freely. Though, Starman was taught, and shortly later, he arrived and cleared them both to enter. "Ok, now son, I don't want you thinking that you can use this place freely from now on, you are still restricted." Starman looked sternly at Jr. "The only reason you can be sent after Buzz Buzz knowledge free is because you are following someone elses path. Do you understand? There is already an open door so all you have to do is walk through. The real trick is creating a door, which I will not go into right now. So, just tell me you won't use this for any other reason other than now." "Don't worry, Dad, I've read through the manual once or twice, I get the gist of it." Jr. looked over the console, closely studying the controls. "So, by the way, where am I heading? Some crystal based planet, or some twisted out universe, like the one where Master Giygas is said to have come from? Starman chuckled, "Neither, you're going to a simple, matter based universe, and the planet is a common Class M. Nothing really special about it. I don't really understand how any being that could live there could be an actual threat to Master Giygas, but, you never know......" "M Class? Are you serious? Those planets are so boring, but a mission is a mission, so lets get it done with." Jr. was already standing in between the transport barriers. "Thats the talk of a true warrior. Always ready to kill and never asks questions about it. You truly do have a bright future, son." Starman smiled and began to enter the cordinates to the Distorter. He entered in the systems number and then entered "Earth", followed by "Eagleland", and then "Onett". A small opening them appeared on the console, Starman walked to container and removed a piece of Zexonyte and placed it in. The console accepted it and with small bing noise, the Distorter went into motion. The two barriers began to spin madly and soon a small wind could be felt. Then, in a flash of light, a gate of pure energy was formed. Jr. stared into the beautiful void for a brief second before looking back at his father, "Dad, I'm coming back, I promise." With that, he stepped into the void. This was the last time Starman would see his son. Jr. was floating through an emptiness he had felt only twice before, and he loved every minute of it. Then, an intense pulling sensation ripped him from the void and now hew was flying over a small town. He spotted a sign that read "Welcome to Onett. Pop. 2,000". He continued flying around above the city, watching that some chaos was erupting in the city. Weird beings with fins on their heads were running all around while little men in blue were chasing them. He was preparing to land there when he noticed the odd glow coming from the foothills to the north. He quickly pulled back up glided in that direction. As he got closer, he began to make out a meteorite plastered into the soft earth, but what was more interesting was a little bit south of there. Walking north were three boys, and as he got even closer he could make out a small bug, buzzing around the head of the lead boy. A small glowing bug. He had found Buzz Buzz. He quickly accelerated further ahead of them and beamed down right in front of their path. His moment had come. All his training had led up to this moment. A fight with the legendary Buzz Buzz. "It's been a long time, Buzz Buzz," Jr. started with a snicker in his voice, "You have been successful at foiling Master Giygas's plans, but, Buzz Buzz, you must now surrender. You are no longer a hero, just a useless insect. I'll stomp you hard!" And with that, Starman casted a Psychic Shield around himself. Buzz Buzz quickly encased himself and the three humans in Psychic Shields. Then, one of the boys rushed at Jr. and bashed him with some sort of primitive stick, but the odd thing was that it hurt. How it was possible, Jr. did not know. The smaller one then rushed at him, hitting him with his fists, causing little to no damage. Jr., laughing a little for getting worried, casted a Fire ß attack. He watched as it approached them but he couldn't believe his eyes when the pathetic looking shield stopped the attack entirely. During his astonishment, Buzz Buzz flew up to him and stung him. Now this was pain, but not as bad as he had expected. Again the boy ran up and bashed him with the stick, which again, hurt some. Jr. was getting angry and paranoid and started casting Fire ß like a madman, but all of them dissolved around the shield. Buzz Buzz again stung him and he started thinking there was a poison to it because he started loosing his vision. The boy with the stick, that despicable little human, ran up to him one more time a delivered a steady BAAAASHHH to his head. Jr. stumbled around a little, slowly losing his vision, when the words of the legend rang through his head. He had been defeated not by the legendary Buzz Buzz, but the legend itself. The One had been found. Jr. fell to the ground and knew no more.
