MonBound: Part 20

"And that's what happened." Picky said as he concluded his account of his adventure inside the world inside his mind. The members of the party that had been with Ness when he had taken a similar trip were not surprised. Pippi looked a little bit less believing.

"So you mean to tell me you were tripping in some dream world while we were protecting your unconcious body from waves upon waves of enemies?" Pippi said.

"Yea, I guess that's about right." Picky replied.

"Yea, that's nice, but we need to concentrate on the present. We have to get back to earth. We'll teleport back to the ship that you guys landed here on. We'll go in two groups to keep the weight down." Jeff said.

"Or three." said a smirking Picky, hinting that he had learned yet another skill.

"This will be quite a first attempt at teleportation." Ness said. "We'll have to keep our altitude very low. If we get too high, we could end up leaving the moon's gravity. That would not be good."

"Picky, you'll take Pippi, making your load the lightest and least risky. Poo is the best at this, so I will go with him." Jeff said. "Paula, you'll go with Ness." Everyone saw the logic in Jeff's plan so they all lined up behind their partners.

"We'll go on three!" Ness said. "One!, Two!, Three!!" As soon as he finished counting, he and Poo zoomed off into the distace. Picky was about to follow, when Pippi stopped him.

"Wait a second." She asked. "I have a question for you. How did you know you could do all of those new abilities before you did them? Did you just know?"

"Well, I didn't just know, its just when the time came I realized that I needed to do them, so I did, so I guess you can say that I did know I could do them, but I'm not sure how." Picky said.

"Right." Pippi replied with a blank stare. That said, Picky took a deep breath, began running, and soon had picked up enough speed to become airborne and zoom away after his friends.

Ness skidded to a halt inches away from the strange alien space craft. Seconds later, Poo gracefully came in for a landing. After a few minutes with no sign of Picky and Pippi, Paula began to worry.

"Where could they be? I hope they didn't...you know...leave the moon's gravity." She said.

"Or maybe Picky just doesn't know how to teleport when he thought he could." Jeff replied. "In a few minutes, someone should go after them."

It wasn't long before two screams could be heard gradually getting louder. Shortly, a streak could be seen coming swiftly in the direction of the space ship. Two faint voices could be heard.

"Hit the brakes!" Pippi screamed.

"There are no brakes!" a screaming Picky replied. His screams were cut short as he smashed into the side of the alien space ship. Pippi then smashed into the back of Picky. Groaning, they both slide down the side of the spacecraft and landed on the ground in a pile of tangled limbs.

"I bet that hurt." Ness said as he hopped over to where they had fallen, and helped them onto their feet.

"Well now that everyone has arrived, most of us unharmed, we can leave now." Jeff said. He hopped on top of the space craft and opened the hatch. Pippi, who knew how to pilot the craft, recovered from the rocky landing, jumped into the ship and sat in the captain's chair. Jeff, who was intrigued by the alien technology sat down beside her in the co-pilot's chair. the remaining four memebers of the party sat down behind them in the remaining chairs, and buckled their seatbelts. Pippi pressed a button and the hatch closed.

"Hang on a sec and I'll get some air pressure in here." She said. She looked around on the control panel, and eventually found what she was looking for. She pulled a small red lever, checked some guages, and turned around to face her passengers. "You can take of your suits now." She said. Everyone was relieved, and immediately removed their helmets and awkward alien space suits. Pippi flipped a few switches, and pressed a few buttons. Soon, the ship began to rumble. "Here we go!" Pippi said as she pulled one last lever. The alien spacecraft lifted off into the vast expanse of space. "You guys might want to get some rest. This is going to be a long trip." Pippi said. "Next stop: Earth!" Pippi said to herself as she grabbed the joystick and began piloting their ship towards the giant blue earth. The rest of the group, save Jeff, took Pippi's advice and tried to get some sleep. It wasn't a difficult task, seeing as how they were all dead tired. Even Pippi and Jeff eventually shifted the craft into auto pilot, and got some sleep for themselves. Quite some time later, the ship began to shake violently, and Pippi jolted awake. She rubbed her eyes, and looked around.

"You guys might want to get up." She said. "We're entering the earth's atmosphere." Everyone heard her, and grudgingly woke up. "It won't be long now." Pippi said. Soon, they had cleared the atmosphere, and the rumbling stopped. They passed through clouds, and the ground quickly began to get closer.

"Don't you think we're going a bit too fast to land?" Ness asked Pippi.

"I don't know, I've never tried landing in a place with so much gravity!" Pippi replied.

"What do you mean!? Just hit the brakes!!" Picky screamed.

"There are no brakes!" Pippi yelled as she pulled up on the joystick as hard as she could. They began to approach the ground at an alarming rate. Pippi realized that she could do no more, and put her hands over her eyes and screamed. Everyone else followed her lead and did the same. Seconds later, there was a loud crash. The spacecraft was stopped immediately, and the members of the party were jarred badly.

"Is everyone alive?" Ness asked as he unbuckled his seatbelt, and stood up.

"I'm okay." Picky said.

"My head is killing me!" Jeff exclaimed as he lifted his head, and turned around. There was a large gash in his forehead, whith blood slowly flowing out where he had banged his head against the control panel of the space ship. Paula saw his wound, dug in her purse and pulled out one of her mother's famous hand-aids. She placed it over Jeff's wound.

"Thanks Paula." Jeff said. "Maybe we should try to get out now." He said as he unbuckled his seat belt and stood up. Poo heard him, stood up, and opened the hatch directly above his head. He climbed out, and Ness behind him. The mid day sun hit them, causing them to shield their eyes with their arms. The vibrant colors of the earth hit their eyes like so many bullies' punches. Soon, their eyes adjusted to the light, and they looked around.

"We haven't landed yet!" Ness exclaimed. "We crashed into a tree, and now we're like fifty feet above the ground!" Pippi hopped up from her seat and climbed onto the roof with Ness and Poo.

"I think I have just the solution." She said. She hopped back into the ship and returned onto the roof with her pack. She pulled out a small device that all of them had seen before.

"Yay! Instant ladder machine!" Ness said.

"Yea, but I've never tried to make a ladder this long before." Pippi said as she turned a couple of knobs and then pressed a button on the device. A poof of smoke followed. Sure enough, when the smoke cleared, a ladder was seen reaching from the ground to the bottom of the space craft. Ness was the first to attempt the trip down to the ground. He slid down the side of the craft to the ladder, and began making his way down to the ground. When he had made it, he turned, looked upwards, and motioned for his friends to follow. Eventually everyone had successfully made the descent, some easier than others, and was resting on the ground below.

"Well, now that I'm on solid ground, I can see that we are somewhere on the road between Threed and the Dusty Dunes Desert." Ness said.

"Wow, Eagleland sure is beautiful. I think I had been taking it for granted before we went on that crazy adventure on the moon." Paula said, mostly to herself.

"Well, we'll be needing to preserve our beautiful earth." Picky said. "And in order to do that we must find out where Pokey and his alien friends are. But how..."

"To that problem, I have a solution." Jeff said. "We need to get to Winters.

"Everyone behind me" Ness immediately said. When everyone was in place, he used teleport Beta, and began running around until he had enough speed to lift he and his friends up into the air, and zoom off towards Winters in the north.

They skidded through the snow to a halt in front of the gate to Snow Wood Boarding School.

"Hurry up, its freaking cold!" Picky yelled as he ran up to the locked gates of Snow Wood. Jeff walked up behind him, pulled a key from his pocket and unlocked the gate. He then walked up the stairs leading to the door of the main building, turned the knob and walked inside. The rest of the party walked in behind him, glad to be out of the cold. A few students that were hanging around in the lobby turned around to he who could be walking into their school in the middle of the day. When they saw who it was, they sat silent in disbelief. One particular student named Tony dropped the beakers he was carrying. They shattered into a million pieces on the floor, but no one seemed to notice.

"Is that you Jeff?" Tony said with tears in his eyes.

"Yes, its me, Tony." Jeff replied.

"But you were dead! How did you- Ah who cares!?" Tony said as he ran up to Jeff and gave him a big bear hug. After a while, Jeff pushed him away. "I'm so glad you're alive!" Tony exclaimed, wiping away tears. Soon the entire school had heard of Jeff's miraculous return, and quite a crowd had congregated in the lobby. The students of the school began to converse about whether they should believe this new stranger or not.

"Calm down everyone!" Jeff yelled. The crowd silenced. "All of your questions wil be answered." Jeff said as he began to tell his story about how he wasn't actually killed, but zapped into another dimension. At the conclusion of the story, everyone seemed to be satisfied. Everyone except for Tony returned to their classes.

"So why have you come back here?" Tony asked Jeff. "I know you didn't just stop in to say hello."

"Indeed I didn't." Jeff said. "I'm looking for one of my old devices. My old evil detector that I used to find out where those aliens had landed to kidnap Paula. Is it still in our room upstairs?"

"Well I haven't moved it, and I don't think anyone else would." Tony said. "I'll go look for it." He then hurried up the stairs into a wide hallway. He walked forward and entered a room on the left. "It has to be in here somewhere." Tony thought as he rummaged through the mess. He walked over to Jeff's desk, moved some papers and some dirty clothes and found a small black device. "Got it." He thought as he ran out of the room, and hurried back down the stairs. "I found it Jeff!" Tony said as he reached the lobby floor and ran over to the chair that Jeff was sitting in.

"Thanks a bunch, Tony." Jeff said. "Sorry I couldn't stick around longer, but the world is once again at stake." he said as he walked back towards the door. His friends were still standing near the doorway, probably because they didn't feel comfortable around an entire school of nerdy geniuses. "I've got what I came for. We can go now." Jeff said as he walked out the door. The rest of the party followed him out. Jeff led the group through the front gates, and then stood still for a moment, ankle deep in snow, toying with his gadget. "This is my evil detctor." He said. "The device I used to find the aliens that were kidnapping Paula. If the alien army has landed on earth, I'll find them." He continued to stand still in the snow, turning some knobs on his gadget.

"He had better find these aliens before I turn into a snowman." Picky said, rubbing his arms for warmth.

"Got it!!" Jeff eventually exclaimed. "The aliens have landed on an island south of Summers." Jeff said. "Take us to Summers, Poo." He said. Poo replied with a nod of his head. Everyone lined up behind Poo, ready to take one more step towards their doom.
