MoonBound: Part 18

Picky dove to the right as an enormous salad fork flew prongs-first at his head. Picky turned around, faced the fork, and hit it squarely with his Mysticant yo-yo. It fell harmlessly to the ground. Picky was about to finish it when a large spoon snuck up behind him, and whacked him on the side of his head, knocking him to the ground. Picky's head was throbbing, and he didn't feel like getting up. The spoon began to advance on the swimming man.

The swimming man went into action. It kicked the dormant fork up into the air, and grabbed it by its handle. He whacked the menacing spoon with the fork, knocking it back a few yards, but the spoon continued to advance on the swimming man. Picky stood up as the spoon passed by him. When the spoon reached the swimming man, the swiming man whacked it again, right at Picky. Picky reacted fast, and hit it with his yo-yo, sending it careening off the path into the sea below.

"These guys are pretty tough, eh?" Picky said, panting. He looked in front of him. Four enemies still remained. First in line was the last of the humongous dinner utensils, a giant steak knife. The swimming man immediately charged the knife, and began battling it with the fork like it was some kind of twisted sword fight. The swimming man held his own until the steak knife slammed down in between two of the fork's prongs. The swimming man's strength began to give out. Eventually, the swimming man was sent flying back. He landed flat on the path, not moving. Picky jumped into action.

"PK Beam Beta!" He yelled. Two large yellow beams flew out of his hands at the steak knife. The beams hit the knife, but were mirrored right back at Picky! Picky dodged one of the beams, but the second hit him in the thigh, making a large hole in his jeans, and a big red sore on his leg. Picky fell to a knee, clutching his leg.

"You won't get away with that one." Picky said. He slowly got up, pulled out his yo-yo, and whacked the huge knife. The knife was only knocked back a few feet, and quickly reataliated with an attack of its own. It slashed downwards right over Picky's head. Picky jumped back quickly. Picky felt his chest to make sure it was still there. The knife had only succeeded in cutting a huge slit in his shirt, and leaving a small scratch running from Picky's shoulder to the bottom of his abdomen.

"Now that was close." Picky said as he sighed in relief. Picky then kicked the bottom of the knife as hard as he could. It was knocked horizontal, and Picky grabbed the big black, plastic handle. He rasied it as high as he could, pointed it downwards, and stuck it straight into the ground. Now only the hovering cell phone, soda can, and pen remained. Picky walked up to the cell phone, which was closest to him. As soon as Picky got close, the cell phone raised its antenna, and began to release a loud high-pitched static sound. Picky covered his ears, closed his eyes, and waited for the piercing sound to cease. The cell phone silently snuck up to him, and began hovering above him. Two large electrodes popped out of the bottom of it, and touched Picky's back. It began to electricute Picky. Picky was writhing on the ground, high voltage electricity flowing through his body when a large fork impaled the giant cell phone, causing it to short out and stop electricuting Picky. The swimming man walked up to Picky, and helped him to his feet.

"I thought were were a goner!" Picky said.

"No, they can't get me that easily." The swimming man replied. "What say we beat these guys and get on with our journey?"

"Agreed." Picky said as he walked up the the hovering soda can. The can attemted to charge Picky, and knock him to the ground, but Picky was too fast, and jumped on top of the bright red can. He pulled the tab at the top, opening the can. Picky hopped down, picked the can up, and put it on his shoulder. It was a heavy load, and the can tried to wriggle free, but Picky would not allow it. He walked over the the edge of the path and began dumping the green soda into the sea. After the can was emptied, Picky carried it over to where the knife was still sticking out of the ground. He put the can over the knife, the handle of the knife sticking into the hole where the soda comes out. It looked like some kind of abstract statue. Picky stepped back, and took a look at it.

"Interesting piece of art," he said, holding his chin. I call it "beaten baddies."

"May I remind you that we still have one more enemy to beat!?" The swimming man said.

"Right." Picky said. He followed the swiming man up to the large ball point pen that was pacing back and forth along the path just like the previous one had done. The swimming man charged the pen, rammed it with his shoulder, and punched it into the ground. The swimming man was about to kick the pen into the sea when Picky stopped him.

"Wait a sec, I think I can have some fun with this one." He said. He took the giant pen, clicked the top, and began writing a large message across the path. After he was finished, he stepped back and admired his work. The message read:

Picky wuz here

"Can we stop wasting time now?" The swimming man said in a frustrated tone.

"Okay Mr. party-pooper." Picky said. "Now to see what the end of this path has in store for us."

He and the swimming man walked to the very end of the path and looked straight down. They saw a large green sewer pipe that was level with the path. The openeing in the pipe was about three feet wide, and Picky judged that both he and the swimming man could easily fit into the pipe. "This looks like one of them pipes from that Mario Bros. game. I guess video games really have cluttered my mind..." Picky said to himself. "But I wonder what's inside it."

"Well we won't ever find out by standing around." The swimming man said as he jumped into the pipe.

"I guess he's right." Picky said as he plunged in after his brave companion.

"I can't last much longer!!" Pippi yelled. Her slingshot fire began to get slower and slower. Soon enough a Ghost of Starman got enough time to fire its beam, and blasted Pippi in the stomach. She keeled over, and fell on the ground next to Picky.

"Fill in the gap!" Ness yelled as he shifted over to his right where Pippi had been standing. In the process of shifting, Jeff's Gaia Beam fire had also become less rapid. A Ghost of Starman fired a beam of its own right before having its head blasted off by a Gaia beam. It hit Jeff's shin. Jeff kneeled down on one knee, trying to tend his wound and fire at the same time. Paula's PSI power was running low, and Ness and Poo couldn't continue to whack and slash forever. The party was wearing down, and fast.

The swimming man landed into a large body of water with a splash. Picky fell down soon after.

"Swimming man!? Where are you!?" Picky yelled as he sat up in the cool, seafoam green water, and began to look around. He looked down at the surface of the water, saw some bubbles coming up, and heard a bubbly sound. "What? What was that?" Picky wondered. The bubbly voice spoke again.

"I said get off me!!" It yelled.

"Oh!" Picky yelled. He moved to the side, and an agitated looking swimming man rose to the surface. "Sorry." Picky said. "But where do you think we are?" He asked as he surveyed his surroundings. He saw that he was in a giant ring of water that came up to his thighs. The ring was probably as large as a football stadium, and was surrounded by large pointy rocks. A strange yellow mist rose off the water, making it difficult to see.

"We have reached the center of the sea; the deepest depths of your mind. We are to head towards the center of this water ring." The swimming man said.

"Alright then, let's get going." Picky replied. They then began trudging slowly through the greenish colored water towards the center. "Swimming man, I noticed in those last battles that you were considerbly stronger than the last swimming man that joined me." Picky said.

"It is not I that have become stronger." The swimming man said. "It is you that have become more corageous. Your courage is reflected through me."

"Well I guess that's good... One more thing." Picky said. "Since you are a swimming man, shouldn't you be able to swim through this water?"

"A swimming man that swims? That's preposterous." The swimming man replied.

"Another unexplained mystery of my mind." Picky said, shaking his head. Picky soon noticed that the water was becoming shallower. Soon the water only came up to his knees.

"We must be getting close to the center." Picky said.

"Maybe." The swimming man replied. When the water had receded to his shins, Picky spotted a large pink pillar of clouds right ahead. When Picky and the swimming man approached the Pink cloud pillar, the water was down to their ankles. A cool mist swept across Picky's skin as he walked through the cloud pillar, causing goose bumps to rise on his skin. As they walked into the middle of the cloud pillar, the water receded totally. The ground was solid rock, not sandy like your normal beach. The yellowish mist was still present, but it was thicker now, making it almost impossible to see.

"You still behind me, swimming man?" Picky asked.

"Yea." The Swimming man replied. They continued walking forward, Picky in the lead, water dripping from his soaked pants and shoes. Suddenly, a brisk wind swept around the inside of the pillar. The mist began to clear out, and Picky's visibility began to increase. Just ahead of him, Picky saw a dark humanoid figure standing still as stone. Neither Picky nor the swimming man knew what it could be, but both were sure that they were about to find out.
