Chapter 25

Dreams and Reality

            “Hey guys, what’s up?”

“Not much Nolan, just the usual.  Playing games waiting for everyone else to get down here so maybe we can get started” said a boy.

“Everyone hasn’t showed up yet, that’s surprising, I’m usually one of the last here with the distance I have to travel” said Nolan.

“Yeah well, there have been some problems today.  I guess.  Have a seat while everyone else gets here” said Ryan as Nolan sat down.

            *flash!*

“What have you done to them you monster?!  You’ll pay for everything that you have done Godan!” screamed the boy.

“I have only…taken them away from this pitiful existence you call life.  You will soon join them.  Everything you know on this planet will soon be gone and you shall be one of the first to go with it!” Godan scream with a loud roar.  He was swirling around the boy in his red energy and mist with three others lying lifeless on the ground with another standing right next to him.

“Hey Mike, I think we need a plan now.  You defeated Lance with that weird attack, dimensional hole you called it” said Nolan whose was the last one standing next to Mike.

“Yeah, I did but it took a ton out of me.  Look Nolan, I don’t know what we can do now.  Tom, Casie, and Ryan are all knocked out maybe close to their deathbeds plus you and I are worn out at the moment.  I think all we can do is hope that we survive this battle Godan has us against the wall.  All we can do now is hope for a miracle to happen right now.  Get your guns ready because this will be a fight to the YEEEEEEEOOOOOWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”  Mike scream in agony as Godan shot a spear made of pure stone right through his left arm where his armor was exposed.

“Mike!  You monster!  What right do you even have to be here and do this to us?!  Your mine Godan!” Nolan summoned his usual four element sabers and combined them into the light saber, his ultimate weapon.

“This one is for everyone you have hurt!”

“Nolan don’t!” Mike screamed in pure agony trying while he tried to pull the stone spear out of his left arm.

Nolan charged Godan with everything he had and slashed.  The slash did nothing to Godan as Godan used an energy blast to blow Nolan right into a house, knocking the wind out of Nolan.  “Psi Holy Power Zeta!” Nolan screamed as he summoned his armor in pure fury, once again charging straight at Godan.

“AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” screamed Mike as he woke up realizing it was all a dream.  As Mike’s eyes opened he realized that the battle with Gorin must have also been a dream.  It seems that he had just fallen asleep on the wall.  <Wait a second!  I don’t sleep standing up, oh shit!!!!!!!>  Mike’s worst fear had come true as he tried pulling his right arm.  It was shackled and heavily at that.  Mike can’t even see the hand in front of his face without his glasses, let alone where he was at that moment.

“Oh, I see the blind retard has finally awaken” said a voice laughing with the occasional snort.  He seemed to take humor in Mike’s struggle to get out of his shackles that hung him on the wall.

“Blind retard!  Yeah, I’m pretty much blind without my glasses but I’m not retarded!” as Mike gave a look of death towards where the sound came from.  “I also have extremely good hearing boy.  When I get off this wall, I’m gonna…”

“Don’t even try it.  You couldn’t break those chains if you even tried.  It’s fun watching you squirm after you humiliated me in Siberia.  Giygas never told me you could absorb energy attacks but now I know.”

“One, why am I still alive.  Two, who are you so I know the name of the person I’m about to drill into the ground” said a very frustrated Mike still trying to yank the shackles off the wall.

“Oh, that is quite simple actually.  We let you heal up really fast so Godan could torture you to death in front of your friends.  Even though the other three along with myself opposed, we can’t even compare to Godan’s power so we let him get his revenge.  Seeing that any of us would do the same, we didn’t oppose for long.”

“Forget about it then, he won’t have a chance to torture me no matter how much he wants.  Now get me down from this wall!”

“I still won’t do that.  Since you will never live to see me I guess I’ll tell you my name.  It’s Pokey Minch!”

“Oh, so your part of the family who some of my connections we evicted from that house and sent off to live somewhere nicer.  All the while little Pokey went to another time to plot his next scheme.  At least that’s what Ness told me when I first met him.  You were the one who blasted me though, thanks for the recharge then” said a cynical Mike.

“Well, my next scheme found me.  I never thought that you and your pathetic cohorts would have ever beaten Godan.  Let alone that two of you would be Horsemen of Light. Well, we now have the leader thanks to Gorin” said Pokey while starting that annoying laugh again.

“That’s it, no more talk.  P-----S-----I-----Phoe…Mother of GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!”  Mike tried summoning to his Phoenix form to put enough pressure on the shackles so they would break, but something gave Mike a massive electrical shock.  It stopped Mike’s heart for a few moments until he used a shadow art to restart it.

“I’m surprised that much energy output didn’t kill you.  That collar we put around your neck was meant to send a massive amount of electricity through that puny little body of yours if you tried to pull a stunt like that.  Look at it this way Mike, that collar makes sure you can’t get out of here” Pokey was crying because he was laughing so hard.  This made Mike all the more furious.

<I would have if Shadow Kasume hadn’t taught me that trick on how to restart my heart with a thought.>  Mike was able to pinpoint where Pokey was right then and spit right on Pokey.  “Jackass, that’s what you get for laughing at this inhumane torment.”

“Why you!”, Pokey immediately ran up to Mike and put something very sharp around his throat.  “I could end you right now!”

“But you won’t will you.  You’re too much of a chicken to even touch me aren’t you.  You’re too afraid of what Godan would do to you if his hostage and prize were dead, especially not by his hands.  Come on, do it!”

“No, I’ll love watching you squirm and love the looks on Ness’s face when he sees you being tortured.  That will be better than even killing him!”

“Come on, do it you moron!” Mike screamed at the top of his lungs.  <Take the bait you idiot.  One slice of that thing and I’ll shock you so hard that I’ll kill you right now.  You just need to cut me somewhere and I’ll drive a shock with this collar and my energy so hard that could kill one hundred people!  Come on, cut me!>

“I’m surprised you’re still living with that mouth of yours.”

“You know Pokey.  You have to be the weakest human being I know.  No person with any self-respect or any self-worth would even side with these monsters.  I know your type.  I’ve come to the conclusion that your type isn’t even human.  People at least have morals, they have feelings, they have a conscious, they have the ability to distinguish right from wrong, they would help a person in this situation, they wouldn’t laugh at this, they wouldn’t bully a helpless person…”  Mike went on with this egging on for how about five minutes.  Mike just wanted Pokey to cut him to even cause Pokey some pain.

“Just shut up! I get your point but I don’t believe any of it!  I can do whatever I want and I’ll be the king of this world!  It will be the reward for helping the Horsemen of Apocalypse achieve their ultimate goal by destroying their prophesized destroyers.  The saviors of the universe, yeah, right” said Pokey in a final remark as he left the room leaving Mike to his fate.

<Darn straight saviors of the universe, I know how this will probably end.  I’m willing to tempt the fates though.  There’s a difference between you and me Pokey.  I will do anything to help a person before myself.  You on the other hand let others do your dirty work and reward from it.  Scavengers do it to survive.  You do it just to gain power.  I’ve kept this ability a secret until now.  I’ve never told anyone that I have telepathy, nor that I can communicate long distance.  I can thank Godan on how to do this.  Some good actually came from that Horsemen’s Curse.  I’ve never tried this, so I hope this works.>

Meanwhile in Onett hospital, “How in the world did you know I was in Magicant Paula?!  I was unconscious the entire time!  Just who are you exactly?!” Dave screamed out of pure shock from Paula’s first statement.

“It’s not hard to read someone’s mind while they’re sleeping David.  You were pretty easy to read to.  I’ve seen pretty much everything that you went through ever since we found you.  That must have been a traumatic experience for you too.  I never knew you had such a tormented past as well” Paula explained slowly so Dave could understand.

“I forgot you’re the best psychic of the chosen ones.  I should have know you could have done something like that with ease.  You won’t tell anyone will you.  That’s a side of me I prefer no one know about” said Dave.

“Yeah, I won’t tell a soul.  Once everybody’s here though, you need to explain that were in Magicant and as well as how you know about what happened to Mike, as you claim.  You better explain everything so you leave know holes behind” Paula said as she pointed to the longbow that was in Dave’s right hand.

“How the heck did this get here?!  I didn’t know whatever you got in Magicant came back with you!” said Dave in a little shock seeing that he still had his Magicant bow.

“Like I said, don’t leave any holes.  Ness can explain that one to you though” Paula said.

            “How?” said Dave.

“You’ll see” said Paula leaving that mystery for Ness to explain.

A few minutes later, Ness, Poo, Jeff and Tom all entered Dave’s hospital room.  “Alright Dave, you have a lot of talking to do.  If you know what happened to Mike, I suggest you tell us, so we know how to get him back” said Ness.

“Here it is then” said Dave as he started to go into his story of what happened over the last three days.

Chapter 26

Hope

“So that’s everything guys.  That’s how I got to Magicant and got back.  I also told you everything during the battle between Mike and Gorin” said Dave as he finished his extremely long story.

“That’s explains pretty much everything.  Ness, I guess others besides you and Casie have the ability to go to a Magicant realm” said Jeff.

“Yeah, they do.  It just seems weird that three of the four Horsemen of Light have gone to Magicant.  I think there might be a connection” said Ness.

“You mean like a right of passage, right Ness.”

“That’s exactly what I mean Poo.  It’s just too coincidental that all of us have gone to a form of Magicant at some point” said Ness.

“Agreed, now that I’ve heard your story Ness I can honestly say that this isn’t some coincidence.  I feel that someone pulled these strings for us long ago, and we are just living by their will” said Dave.

“I see your point Dave.  It feels like a higher power has been dragging us along here.  I just don’t know.  Heck, Mike would have a fit if you said this to him.  He’s not the type to believe in Fate and everything is of your own doing.  ‘You just have to play the game correctly’ is what he said to me when I first met him” said Tom.

“That’s interesting to know.  About Mike, where do we start?  We know that’s he has been captured to be tortured, but the where is our only problem right now” said Paula.

“True.  We don’t know where he is right now.  I thought he might have tried to contact us with telepathy right now but I don’t know if that will happen” said Ness with a slight sigh.

“How about this Ness, it won’t happen.  You see Mike’s doesn’t know telepathy, at least to my knowledge.  If he did, he would have used it by now in some way or form” said Tom.

“What!  I thought all psychics had telepathy!” said Jeff.

“Only certain people who have the proper Psi energy classes can use it.  Mike doesn’t go into that class at all.  Unless he’s learned something in the last three days” Tom said with a regretful tone in his voice.

“That severely limits our options of finding him then.  Anyone have any bright ideas” said Ness with a sigh in his voice knowing how hopeless it was starting to become.

“The only thing I can think of is to drag it out of someone.  Namely, one of their high ranking flunkies” said Dave.

“It might be our best shot.  We might want to contact Casie because we’ll need everyone we can get right now” said Ness as he started to shut his eyes.  Paula all of a sudden turned her head towards the window bringing all of the attention in the room to Paula.

“What’s the matter Paula, you hear something?” said Poo with a slightly intrigued look on his face.

“Yeah I did, but I guess it was just the wind” said Paula.  Ness seemed to be in deep concentration trying to contact Casie when his eyes suddenly opened as well.

“I definitely felt something as well.  Something or someone is trying to contact us but I don’t know who” said Ness.

“Well, something is probably up if the two strongest psychics in the room just felt something” said Poo as he shut his eyes trying to concentrate on even the slightest psychic disturbance.  It might be a spy or someone trying to contact them.  No one knew what it was at that point and everyone in the room started to get a little nervous because of it.

A few minutes later, Poo opened his eyes.  “There is someone trying to contact us.  There is no doubt about it.  The signal’s weak though, very weak.  The person trying to contact us is a novice at this.  Let’s just give whoever it is some time to get straightened out so they can contact us.  They might know something.

About five minutes later everyone in the room heard this, <I’m… … not… a… novice.>

“You were right Poo.  Someone is trying to contact us via telepathy, and he was slightly offended by the statement you made” said Paula.  The message was soft spoken and not that clear.  At least that much could be made out.

“Let’s just listen, so we don’t miss anything” said Ness as he shut his eyes in deep concentration.  Ten minutes had passed until the next message had come.

<Sorry… it… took me… so long to… make… contact.> said the voice, a little more clearly this time, the voice was still completely unrecognizable though.

<Who exactly are you, and why have you contacted us?> Paula thought as she tried to send a message to whoever was contacting them.

<It’s… me… Mike.> said the voice claiming to be Mike.  That second, everyone just rose up and took notice out of pure shock from that message.

“Paula, can you contact with him again?!  If that’s him by some slight chance we need to find out where he is!” Jeff screamed to Paula out of pure excitement.

“Hold on, the signal is weak, it’s hard to get a lock on.  There it is” said Paula as she shut her eyes in deep concentration.  <Mike, is that you?  If so, where are you?!>

<Give… me one… second.  I… can’t… get a… lock on… your… pattern.  Emit… a stronger… pattern… until… I can… get a lock> said the voice to Paula.  It sounded unfamiliar but Paula took the chance and emit a very strong telepathic signal, even though it might give their position away if this person wasn’t Mike.

<Ah, that’s better.  You know.  It’s hard to contact someone telepathically without knowing exactly where they are.> said the voice.

“That’s Mike, no doubt.  I know that deep voice from anywhere” said Tom.

<Thanks Tom.  It’s good to know that you guys are still alive.  Sorry it took me so long to reach you guys but being unconscious for so long did not help any> Mike said telepathically.

<Dave said he couldn’t see the final attack that beat you Mike.  What did Gorin do to you?> said Ness telepathically to Mike.

<To make it quick, Gorin had enveloped me in his true form.  I tried everything I could to get out but I couldn’t even scratch him.  He then did a Psi technique called Black Hole.  It’s one of the twelve and I got the daylight knocked right out of me.  I guess by what Dave saw, that is his name right, I was a bloody mess like he was when I saved his butt.>

“Mike, how did you know I’m the same person who helped you and that you saved later on?” said Dave with some confusion.

<It was easy.  The only way you could have withstood that beating you took without dying is if you are the Horseman of Power.  I just didn’t know your name till now, sort of like putting two and two together.  Back to my current situation though, my armor was destroyed with the exception of the few fragments they haven’t taken off my body yet.  My glasses are broken as well, so I can’t give you anything on where I am.  I’m absolutely blind without my glasses.>

<Can you possibly emit some type of energy or power up enough for us to find you?> Paula said to Mike telepathically.

<No, I can’t.  I had an encounter with your old nemesis Pokey, Ness.  He told me I have a collar around my neck that delivers an electric shock to my entire body when try to use any type of energy.  It’s actually emitting a slight charge right now from just talking to you, but nothing compared to what I got when I tried to rip these chains I’m in off the wall.  It doesn’t hurt right now because the energy I’m using for this is minimal so I’m alright.  You guys got any ideas on how to find out where I am?>

<We haven’t come up with anything yet.  Since you’re alive I think one of us will be able to come up with something> Ness said to Mike telepathically.

The room stood silent for a few minutes until Tom came up with an idea.  “Mike, what’s the radius that Godan has to be in for you to sense him.  I’m talking the maximum range” Tom said and everyone else who had telepathy conveyed it to Mike.

<Maybe ten miles, and he’s away doing something right now.  It’s the reason why I’m able to talk to you guys like this right now.  I can’t sense him and he can’t sense me.>

“Not as close as I had hoped but enough for a start, can you remember his energy pattern?”

<No, if you think using a range will help it won’t, that’s still a huge area to cover.  Secondly, I’m not waiting for Godan to get that close!> Mike screamed telepathically.

<Okay Mike not so loud, I have an idea but it’s risky.  I know Paula mention this before but it’s the only way.  I need you to send out a detection energy signal that we can detect.  If you go too much, I’m guessing that collar will kill you and stop your heart.  Next if Godan or anyone else feels it we’re screwed.  Finally if we can find you, there’s no guarantee that we will be able to save you> Poo said to Mike telepathically.

“Hold it, there’s no need to use an energy signal!  Mike’s armor is made of a unique metal.  If we can detect that metal we can pinpoint exactly where Mike is at since he should still have some of it on right Mike!” Tom screamed.

<Yeah, I have a slight amount on my right shoulder still.  I can feel the weight right there.  I don’t know how you guys are going to detect me but I need to do one last thing before I cut this connection off.  I need to teach someone light warp.  It’s the fastest way to travel and the easiest way to find me.  Anyone here even have a clue on how to use Shadow Movement.>

<I do Mike.  I actually know the technique, why?> Poo said telepathically to Mike.

<Well, Psi Light warp is a variant of that technique.  Let’s just say I took the technique to far one day and got this result.  Listen this is what you have to do> Mike was explaining the very complicated process of how to do light warp and who tried to teach him Shadow Movement.  Poo shook his head after ten minutes when he got the details of how to do all four levels of light warp.  <Listen Poo, you need to use the Omega level to transport that many people.  I would suggest resting slightly after you get as close as you can.  It will take a ton out of you because you’ll be doing this for some many people.>

As Mike was explaining his light warp teleportation to Poo, Poo realized how Mike could have so easily taken the Shadow Movement technique and gotten it completely wrong.  Mike had a completely different Psi energy class which had allowed him to do something like that by accident.  Once Mike got Poo to learn the specifics of the technique, Mike cut off his connection right afterwards.  “Poo, you have that light warp down?” said Jeff.

“Yeah, it’s probably the most complex thing I’ve ever had explained to me but I can do it” Poo answered.

“We just have to figure out how to find Mike’s armor make-up in some random place in the world that’s all” said Dave.

“I’ve already figured that one out Dave.  Each metal has its own spectral signature when you at it in a certain way, like with filters, a spectral graph or prism.  I can’t really explain it now in detail but let’s say I have a way to find out that spectral signature.  I should be able to use that to find Mike’s armor since it’s a unique metal if I hack into a few satellites and such.  Let’s hope it’s unique anyway” said Jeff.

“How long will it take you?” said Ness.

“Not much of a clue.  Maybe five minutes, maybe five days, I really can’t say how long it will take.  Remember I’m searching for a needle in a haystack here” Jeff quickly explained as he cracked his knuckles and got to typing starting his hacking.

“Just do it as fast as you can” said Poo as he walked out of the room.

“Where is he going?” said Dave.

“I don’t know.  It’s best to leave him alone.  When Poo’s like that, he’s just usually deep in thought.  It’s nothing unusual” Paula explained.

Meanwhile in Belle Vernon, “Hey Casie, we’ve been going at it for a while.  I don’t care how much you need to learn that technique we need a break” said Ryan descending to the ground breathing very heavily with some of his clothes torn up.

“I guess we could take one.  My mind needs some rest anyhow after these last six hours.  We’ll take a three hour break and get back to training” right after Casie said those words Ryan and Nolan dropped backwards onto some grass and fell asleep.  “Humph!  Lazy jerks, I wonder why I put up with you guys at times.”

<Well Casie, a three hour break might be all that your going to get> said a voice telepathically to Casie.

“What the, who was that?” Casie said to herself as she knew what she just heard.

            <It’s Poo> Poo said telepathically.

<Geez, don’t do that.  I’ve told you before not to do that in that deep voice.  So what’s the update on Mike and Dave.>  Once Poo got done telling Casie everything, Casie was shocked by what she heard, <What!  Mike’s not dead yet!  Then we still have a chance.  Do you what us to join up with you guys for more power?>

<No, we have absolutely no need for your services right now.  You guys just keep training.  We don’t want everyone in the same place right now.  We’re too vulnerable with everyone as worn out as they are> Poo explained to Casie.

<Thanks Poo, I’ll make sure to keep my promise and not tell these two anything just yet, I don’t want them to worry right now.>

<Alright Casie, I’ll give you another update later> Poo said telepathically as he was looking at the Eagleland coast at the Onett shore over it’s rocking cliffs near the broken down house no one will buy.  “I hope that we can defy the Apple here and rescue Mike.  Since we are supposed to lose, I guess this is where it will be decided.   After what display of power Ness showed a few days ago though, I’m even starting to think this might be possible” Poo thought to himself.

“I guess you updated Casie just now, right Poo” said a voice from about fifty feet back.  It was Ness walking up from behind to see Poo.  “These last few days have been rough on all of us Poo.  Let’s just hope we can get out of this mess now” said Ness as he grabbed a pebble and threw it into the crashing water.

            “How did you know?”

“You’re conversations have been so loud how couldn’t I have heard.  Don’t worry, no one else knows about that right now” said Ness as he sat down to enjoy the ocean breeze, taking his red cap off for once to truly relax in it.

“I guess they have been.  Ness, do you think we even have a prayer to defeat the four Horsemen of Apocalypse?” said Poo with doubt in his eyes.

“Of course I do.  I learned one thing on our last journey.  Anything is possible as long as you don’t give up.  Even if we do lose which I hope we don’t, I would rather go down knowing I did everything I could to save this world.  Now come on, let’s get back to my house and have my mom make us some food” said Ness.

“Didn’t everyone leave like Tom told them to?”

“No, they all want to stay and if they need to run they will.  Why don’t you go to the house and get something to eat and I’ll join up with you guys in a bit.  I just want to enjoy one of these few quiet times I get by myself right now watching the sunset” said Ness.

“Yeah, sure Ness, I’ll see you later then” said Poo as he stared to walk to Ness’s house.

As Ness started to look out towards the coast, he reached into his pocket and pulled out a small CD case with a disc in it.  “Mike, I know you can’t hear this right now but, it just gives me comfort to just say this since I know you’re still alive.  The Apple Kid told me about the weapons you and he found on this CD and that they were called the weapons of light.  He told me not to look at it until we found you or you were dead because the look in your eyes said that you knew something about these things” Ness said while fiddling with the case in his right hand.  “You are quite the character Mike that’s for sure.  I’ll make sure you get out of where ever you are alive.”

Ness soon pulled his Gusty Bat out of his backpack, “I hope the power upgrade Jeff gave this thing will give me enough punch to make a scratch this time if we encounter any one of them.”  Ness was cut off from his talking to himself when his receiver phone rang.  “Hello, who is this?  Oh hey Dad, I guess Mom told you everything didn’t she” Ness thought it a little odd that his father would know all of what he was telling Ness.  Ness gave his Dad the missing pieces of the story while he watched the sunset on top of the cliff.  “Yeah, we think we might have a lead after that little incident but it might take Jeff a while before we find out anything.  Yes, I’ll be alright Dad.  I hope to see you someday and maybe you can come home for once” said Ness laughing.  His father was always out on some sort of business, and Ness hadn’t actually seen his father in three years.  The only way his father even got to see Ness was through the constant photos Ness was sending him of the family and such.  Ness stood up as if he got the shock of his life while talking to his father, “What?!  You’re actually coming home!  When?  Three days, okay I’ll make sure to tell everyone.  I’ll see you then, bye” Ness couldn’t have been more excited.  His father was actually coming home for once and Ness would get to see his father for first time in three years.

“Now I have a new reason to fight.  I see where Mike can tap into such powers.  He uses his family’s constant support and love to drive him to higher limits.  I know I’m not that emotional, but maybe all of humanity has that type of power as well, including myself.  With that ability to feed off our love and emotion for others for a quick jump, we might stand a chance after all.  I forgot to consider the human spirit that I have tapped into before and I guess that’s why I do it.  This is the first time we can all be a family again in such a long time, and no force besides and act of God will ever stop that from happening.  Not even the four Horsemen of Apocalypse will keep me away from my family.  The will go for Mike,” said Ness as he started to form a ball of energy in his hand, “this energy is for all of humanity and all life on this planet.  I will send this up towards the sky and it will never disappear until the day where my time is up.  I want people to look at this and see that someone is fighting for them, though they don’t know who that person or people are.”  Ness shot the ball of energy towards the sunset and let it go until he could no longer see it.  “I want people to look at that and have hope for the future that it will be there” said Ness as he started to walk away from the now disappearing sun giving way to the night.
