Chapter One

Light beams struck everywhere in the room. A young boy with black disc eyes and wore a red baseball cap, a stripe shirt and blue shorts stood in the center of the room. He cautiously looked around his surroundings.
Where am I? Questions ran through his head. What is this? What am I doing here?
His questions seemed to be answered at that moment. A girl about the age of fifteen stared at the young boy from a far away distance. Her grayish hazel eyes were saddened and her moon-round face was wet from tears. She had long, thick strawberry-blonde hair was pulled back in a ponytail and also wore a dark blue cloak and a green tunic-like attire underneath the cloak itself.
"Who are you?"The young boy questioned. "What's wrong?"
The mysterious girl's eye grew even more depressed. She stood in silence as if she was unable to speak.
"Where am I?" The boy asked as his voice suddenly echoed through the room.
Finally, the girl answered, "I'm so sorry that I brought you into this mess, Ness. I thought you could help me free the others . . . "
"Huh?" Ness asked. He was even more puzzled then ever. How did she know his name? What was she talking about?
Suddenly, a soft, vrooming sound filled the room. A huge, white glove flew out from the shadows and grabbed the girl. The girl screamed in fright and struggled within its grasp.
"NOOO!!" She shrieked. "Let me go! I don't want to go! Ahhhaa!!"
The glove paid no attention to the girl's plead. Ness glared at the glove angrily. He couldn't stand an innocent-looking girl being tortured and threatened. He pulled out his Gusty baseball bat and charged straight toward the glove.
"Ness, NO!" The girl screamed, but the warning was too late.
The glove quickly snapped its fingers and made the girl disappeared into thin air. Ness stopped dead in his tracks and looked around. The girl was no where insight, but her last scream echoed withing the entire room, setting a horror to the scene.
Ness glared at the glove, but suddenly he heard an evil, haunting laugh. It did not echo in the room, but the voice came telepathically into Ness' head.
*You think you can defeat me, boy?* A deep voice taunt telepathically to Ness. *Your friends are at loss. The Earth you live on will surrender their pathetic defeat and you will be my slave forever.*
"Oh no you won't!" Ness said with confidence. "If you mess with any of my friends or any innocent people, you'll be dead! I'll make sure of it!"
The glove laughed hysterically. *Why don't you try to defeat me, you little runt?*
    "OK . . . PK FIRE!"
Ness quickly shot a flame from his fingertips at the glove, but the glove quickly dodged it and laughed. The young boy was as stunned as ever. How did he do that?! Just as Ness tried to swing his bat, the glove grabbed his entire body and flew up with the boy in its grasps.
*Time to die and say farewell to your world.* The glove sneered.
It threw itself to the ground as it was carrying Ness. The boy struggled to free himself, but the glove squeezed him harder. It was useless to escape from its grasp. Suddenly as the two hit the ground hard, Ness' vison became pitch black.

Ness quickly rose up from his bed with shock and fear from his dream. His bedroom was dark as he scanned the room. He examined himself carefully and reassured himself that the vision was only a bad dream.
Suddenly, an eerie whispering sound came from outside. It sounded nothing like the wind blowing or a bird. Ness looked outside from the window to find the cause of the sound. Underneath the moonlight, he saw nothing strange or unordinary outside. The sound was quiet and was not repeated again.
Ness shrugged the feeling off. Assuming that he was hearing things, he slowly walked back to his bed and laid there without pulling the covers over himself. Ness slowly closed his eyes and started to think pleasant thoughts to get his mind off the nightmare. However, it did not stop him from wondering of what the dream could mean.

Daylight breaks out into Eagleland. After finishing breakfast, Ness leaves his house while carrying his Gusty bat and a baseball. He walked across the front lawn, threw the baseball in the air and brought his bat smashing the baseball. Ness watched the baseball fly and land in a far away distance.
Then all of a sudden, a short figure appeared after a teleportation. A young boy appeared, who had thick black hair was pulled back in a ponytail and wore a white karate suit with a black belt. He blinks his black disc eyes at Ness seriously.
"Hey Poo," Ness greeted the young boy. "Are you up for playing catch or anything?"
"No, but there's something we need to talk about." Poo answered. "It's about this dream I had that may affect you."
    Ness stared at Poo silently.
"I'm guessing that I'm not the one who has been having weird dreams then." Said Ness.
"Here was the dream and I believe that it may lead into a prophecy." Said Poo. "I have a bad feeling about this dream though. It began in a room, somewhat like a gymnasium. The lights were on and we as in Jeff, Paul, and I saw you standing in the center of the room. Then I saw this strange girl, who was like about two years older than we were and was-"
"Whoa! You're saying that you dreamed of some white glove killing me and stuff?"
"Yea, something like that. Paula, Jeff, and I couldn't help you due to something trapping us in a strange purple glass cage. Then you released this strange power and the glove murdered you."
"Dude, we had the same dream! Cool!"
Poo and Ness were silent. Suddenly, Ness heard a noise that came from the bushes in his front yard.
"What was-" Ness started to say.
"Hush!" Poo interrupted as he pulled out his sword. "We are being watched . . . "
Poo walked over to the nearby bush and pointed his sword to the bush. Finally, he ordered, "Come out coward!"
"Maybe it's Pokey trying to scare us." Ness suggested, but was proved wrong.
At the speed of lighting, a hand reached out and grabbed Poo's ankle. With a sharp, strong jerk from the arm, Poo was knocked down hard onto the ground. A figure rose from its hiding place and hid its identity by being wrapped in a dark-blue hooded cloak. Poo quickly pulled himself off the ground as the figure removed its hood to reveal its identity.
The mysterious attacker was a girl, who was a few inches taller than Ness and Poo and was a little older than them. Her long, strawberry-blonde hair was tied back in a ponytail, her hazel eyes glistened underneath the sunlight but stared at both Ness and Poo. Underneath her dark-blue cloak was a torn green tunic. She raised up a single hand a little and in clear spoken words, she said to Poo, "I do not come here for war or fighting. All I need is Ness and nothing else. If you refuse to let Ness follow me, then you will be destroyed easily."
"Why do you need Ness?" Poo asked in an angered tone.
"Because he is chosen." The girl simply answered. "He is going to be hand picked by the Master Hand for a challenge to fight against him. If he succeeds, he will not only save his home world, but other fighters who were captured in this realm of yours. Come, I will explain on the way."
"Hold up!" Ness said. "Aren't you that girl that appeared in my dream last night?"
"I most certainly was. I created the dream for you as I did for three of your friends to understand why we must go."
Suddenly, Ness looked around uncomfortably and closed his eyes. Poo watched his friend with concern.
"Ness, what is it?" Poo asked.
"Trouble . . ." Ness growled. "A The Winters near Jeff's home. Paula is calling for help and Pokey is behind this."
He turned to the girl and ordered, "Grab a hold of my shoulders. We'll teleport there."
Without an argument or hesitating, the girl placed a firm grasp on Ness's shoulders. Her hands were rough and strong. Poo, Ness, and the mysterious girl teleported over to Jeff's.

            Chapter 2

"You give me back my remote control, Pokey!" Jeff demanded to the chubby, blonde-haired boy.
"Why don't you try to come here and get it yourself?" Pokey provoked at he threw the remote control up in the air and continued to catch it.
Next to Pokey stood a robot who was the same height at the chubby boy. Jeff glared at Pokey as Paula clenched her fists.
"Now let's see what this piece of crap made from Dr. Andonuts can do. Let's try this button!"
The boy aimed the remote controller at the robot and pressed a green button. The robot raised its mechanical arms and fired rapid lasers at both Paula and Jeff. Pokey laughed with amusement as he watched his two foes dodging the robot's fire.
Ness, Poo, and the mysterious girl reached their destination in Jeff's front yard, near where the battle scene took place. Paula quickly turned her head and smiled at Ness from a far distance.
"Glad you made it!" Paula said hopefully. "We need your- OWW!"
Suddenly, a red laser bolt shot Paula in her left arm. The sharp pain that she felt went through her body like lightening and grew tremendously.
"Paula!" Ness cried as he, Poo and a stranegr ran to her side.
Blood began to gust out from her open wound. Paula covered it with the palm of her right hand in order to stop the bleeding. The mysterious stranger cast a healing on Paula. Palua watched the wound close up and felt her strength returning.
"That does it!" Jeff growled as he pulled out his pistol and aimed at the robot. "Multi Bottle Rockets!"
He fired his weapon at the robot, but his shots caused no damage on the dangerous controlled robot.
"My security robot must of have a really darn good protective shield!" Jeff said in shock.
The mysterious girl watched the battle scene take place. After seeing enough and before Ness could do anything, she crossed her arms and raised them up in the air. While doing so, she called up to the sky and said, "PK Shocker!"
A large flashing lightening bolt streaked down from the sky and nailed the out-of-control robot. The robot fell backwards and crashed into the ground. Its circuits sparked and then the noises that came from the alive robot quickly died.
Ness, Poo, Paula, Jeff, and Pokey stared at the mysterious girl with shock, amazement, and terror. The girl glared at Pokey with a dangerous look and said, "Hand the remote control to the young man or you will be the next one to go."
Shivering with fear, Pokey tossed the remote control to Jeff on the groundat his feet. The girl shot an even more deadlier look at the chubby boy and roared, "I said hand it to him, not throw it you dumb, fat, useless, tub of lard!"
"Uh. . . sorry! Uh oh! My mother's calling me! I gotta run!"
However, the girl was not finished. She outstretched her right arm and cast a lightening bolt that shot Pokey in the back. The chubby boy flew a few feet away, got up from the ground and ran away.
Jeff, Paula, Ness, and Poo stared at the girl in full amazement. The girl turned to them and stared at them silently. Finally, Jeff picked up his remote controller that Pokey threw and asked the girl, "Who are you. . . ?"
"I have a name that goes by Nikana." The girl replied. "I have been sent to Eagleland to help train and prepare a young boy named Ness to fight a superior challenger."
"Why does Ness have to battle against this challenger?" Paula asked. "Where do you come from?"
"I have a long explanation so you might as well sit down and listen carefully. The challenger is originally called ‘The Master Hand'. Some people call him ‘God'. He claims that he has created the universe and the realm of Nintendo and Daghiar. The Master Hand is planning an Armageddon to the Nintendo realm and had already done so in the Daghiar realm, the realm that I've originated from. He does this because he is obbsessed with his ultimate power and wishes to be superior of all. The Master Hand abuses his power with his superior attitude.
"Years ago, he has made my people, the Carthelians, into slaves and killed thousands of them who refused to be obedient. Those who have rebelled under his power have perished. Only one has successfully escaped and fled to safety. As powerful as I have demonstrated, I cannot defeat The Master Hand alone. I was proven to be the most powerful and bitter fighter and I was also VERY lucky to escape from The Master Hand's power and mind control.
"I was badly wounded as I fled, but I managed to reach the Realm of Nintendo. I was halfway healed by Princess Toadstool, who ruled the Mushroom Kingdom. A small plumber man named Mario volunteered to fight The Master Hand. I trained him and granted him some special abilities to help fight The Master Hand, but he failed. Because of Mario's over confidence and failure, the Mushroom Kingdom was crushed and all of its people have became enslaved.
"I fled into different worlds to find another hero in order to help free not only my people, but the fighters who had fought against The Master Hand and their people as well. My people were taught that enslaving was wrong and if you, Ness, succeed and win the battle, you will not only save the people of your world, but will save billions of others. If The Master Hand is declared defeated, he will restore the Realm he has destroyed and the other worlds he has smashed in the Realm of Nintendo and Daghiar."
Everyone was silent as Nikana made a silent pause. Jeff stared at Nikana with fascination and wonder as Ness tried to summarize his chosen fate of what Nikana had preached to him. It had already seemed that the whole safety of the Universe was placed into Ness' hands.
Breaking the moment of silence, Poo asked, "Exactly how many fighters have you trained and how did you require such skill?"
"I have encountered about six Nintendo heros who are Link from the Land of Hyrule, Pikachu from Pellet City, Captain Falcon, Mario, Yoshi, and Kirby. Ness would be the seventh chosen one. I was officially trained by a great Carthelian warrior before The Master Hand took over our world and conquered it. I later found out that he was killed while battling against The Master Hand. He was a strict teacher indeed, but was an excellent trainer."
Finally, Ness asked Nikana, "So when do I begin the training?"
The girl stared at Ness and showed an expression of hope in her eyes.
"I'm giving you a choice Ness, to think about going up against The Master Hand. You have one day to decide. If you decide that you don't want to battle, I can find another willing to fight. If the fighters I have selected do fail, I will come back to your world and force you to fight. And if you don't fight around that time, then The Master Hand will take over everyone and destroy your Earth. Everyone who lives in your world will become slaves forever. I don't like doing this myself, but there may not be any other choice other than to choose you to help me out.
"However, if you do decide to get it over with, I will grant you two special ablities to help you defeat The Master Hand. There is also one thing I will note about battling against The Master Hand Ness, and that is knowledge is extremely important in the battle. Use it wisely."
Ness nodded, agreeing to take Nikana's suggestion. The group was silent until Paula asked the group, "Well, since Nikana is going to stay here in Eagleland for a day, where is she going to stay for the night? Or do you have a place to stay, Nikana? Do you carry any money?"
The young girl shook her head and replied, "I usually adapt to outdoor climates."
"You can stay at the palace in Dalaam for the night." Poo offered. "I don't think my Master would mind. By the way, I am titled Prince Poo, but you can call me Poo for short. I don't mind."
Nikana smiled as Jeff and Paula introduced themselves to the stranger. Ness scanned the group members and asked, "I'm kind of hungry. Anyone up for Mach's Pizza?"
Paula and Jeff nodded and grinned, but Nikana gazed at Ness with a puzzled look.
"Don't worry, you'll like it once you've tried it." Paula said to Nikana with a wink.

The group of young teenagers traveled to Twoson and ordered a pizza at Mach Pizza Place. They sat on the curb of the sidewalk, outside of the restaurant as Ness went in to order a pizza. He later returned to his friends with a box and opened it.
"Let's dig in!" Ness chimed as he, Paula, and Jeff had taken a slice of pizza.
Poo watched the group eat with silence and decided to meditate, but Nikana stared at the pizza weirdly. Jeff glanced at the girl and noticed that she hadn't touched a pizza slice yet.
"Is there anything wrong, Nikana?" He asked with concern.
"What's that?" Nikana asked, pointing to a flat, reddish circular object on the pizza. "Is that what you guys call a pizza?"
"Oh no, of course not. That object is called a pepperoni. Its purpose is to bring an extra favor to the pizza in what we consider, ‘tasty'."
"You never have eaten a pizza before?" Ness asked.
Nikana carefully pulled out a pizza slice out from the box and observed it carefully.
    "Never." She answered.
Everyone, including Poo who was meditating stopped to watch Nikana's reaction to her first pizza slice. She took a small bite from the curst of the pizza and stared to munch on it.
"That's not how you eat a pizza!" Ness exclaimed and tried his hardest not to laugh at the girl.
"Actually, there is not correct scientific way to eat a pizza." Jeff replied. "There are other ways of eating a pizza."
"Wow Jeff! We didn't actually know that!" Paula joked with sarcasm. "Now try eating the cheese and a pepperoni, Nikana. It's not that bad."
Finally, Nikana bit into a pepperoni and chewed it slowly. She swallowed it down her throat and for the first time, she managed to crack a small smile.
"Not bad!" She said and laughed. "This pizza is very good! One of the best delicacies I've ever eaten! Although the pepperoni is quite pungent."
Everyone smiled and laughed. Nikana devoured her pizza slice and took another. While the group was eating their pizza, Paula asked Nikana, "What stuff did you eat back where you have come from?"
After finishing a pizza slice, Nikana replied, "My people relied on the animals that lived in our world to support us. We didn't have stores where you could go in and buy food that was already cooked for you. There were some markets available, but we were mostly required to hunt in order to survive. We also feed on some plants as well."
While observing the young girl's eating habits, Jeff asked, "Exactly how old are you?"
"I'm approximately nine months of fifteen years." She answered and watched the citizens of Twoson passing by. "Your kind interests me. You people rely on others to serve you food and don't have to hunt game."
"There's more to this than just having people do stuff for you." Said Ness. "Back where you come from, did you ever have computers or video games?"
"Hmm. We had computers," Nikana nodded, "but there were never video games around my world. However, I know what they are. While training Pikachu, I played a small computer which it was called a ‘Game Boy'. There were some electronic games in it that I've played."
"How about we give you a tour to some of the towns on our planet and try out an arcade game?" Ness offered as the girl gladly accepted it.

The day was beginning to end. The group showed Nikana around Twoson, Onett, and The Winters. As the day was about to end, Poo and Nikana transported themselves to Poo's palace. Jeff retired to his home to rest and read as Paula and Ness decided to spend some time to themselves as they walked to Paula's house. Ness was uncertain about the next day since he would have to make his final decision for not only himself, but for Paula, his friends, and for his world.
"There's something I don't trust about Nikana." Paula began to say to Ness as they were walking to her house. "Her appearance is so. . . mysterious and strange as if she had more to say about the fight you're going up against. She might be hiding something."
"I'm worried about this as much as you are." Ness admitted. "I mean, that dream she sent to us was terrifying! I was the one who ended up dead."
"Ness, I hope you're smart enough to make the right choice this time. Once again, everyone on this planet is placed in your hands, but it's more than just that."
"So what are you suggesting, Paula? That I take no part of this and let every innocent person in this realm we exist in fail and end up as slaves? Just because I haven't even tried or gave any of my efforts?"
"I just . . ." Paula began to argue and paused. She looked away, avoiding eye contact with Ness. "I don't want to see you get hurt, that's all. I care for you more than anything else in the world. If I was forced to watch you being beat up and there was nothing I could do to help. . . that would hurt me to see something like that."
Ness began to blush. He never knew that Paula had actually really cared more for him as he did for her. He was too shy to admit how he felt about her and always tried to act as if he liked her only as a friend. At that moment, no one seemed to say anything or move. They stopped walking and stood in deep silence, listening to the crickets chirping the night away.
Finally after a short while of thinking things over Ness stared up at the starry sky, trying the best he could to hide his flustered face from Paula. The young blonde-haired girl slowly turned her head to Ness and looked at him with a sheepish expression. Without even thinking, Ness took his hand into Paula's and said, "I can't just sit on my butt and hear people suffering. Something must be done, Paula. I don't want to do this, but it seems that I pretty much don't have a choice even though Nikana had stated them."
"But she had failed six times with six fighters!" Paula protested. "What happens if she isn't a good trainer with you and fails you too? You would screw up this world and have us all enslaved by this Mister Glove guy! Worst of all, you can have yourself killed."
"Nikana might have said that, but she also said that knowledge is important when it comes to battles and to use it wisely. She would also grant me two new powers to battle up against the Hand dude."
"Yes, but do you know what those ‘powers' are? What happens if they turn out pretty weak for fighting up against someone who's twice or five times stronger than you?"
    "Hmm. . . good point."
With that, he gently squeezed Paula's hand with his and slowly released it. The two walked to Paula's house in silence the rest of the way.

As Paula and Ness came up to Paula's house, they walked across the front lawn to the door. Paula turned to Ness and stared at him for a brief minute. Finally, she said, "I know that I cannot make choices for you, but I hope you know what you're doing."
"I know." Ness smiled. "Don't worry about me too much. I've gotten myself out of risky situations before. I may be able to manage it and besides, I can receive additional training from someone Poo knows."
"Well, just take care of yourself if I'm not around, alright?"
Ness nodded, as Paula made an attempt to hug him farewell. This had surprised Ness even more and the young boy found himself standing in pure shock.
"Good night." She whispered in Ness' ear.
"You too." He replied as he hugged her back and released her.
Ness turned away from Paula and her house and teleported his way home.

            Chapter 3

At the crack of dawn, Nikana and Poo awaited at Ness' house. Ness and Nikana agreed that Ness would have made his final decision by the crack of dawn of the next morning.
After a few minutes waiting outside, the front door creaked open and Ness stepped out and joined his friends.
With a smile, Ness greeted, "Good morning. I have made my decision."
Nikana's face remained expressionless and straight. There was no expression to be read in her sparkling, smokey gray hazel eyes, nor did she send body language to express. The girl stood still and slightly looked down at the young boy.
"So what is your decision?" Nikana asked as she crossed her arms.
"I am going to help you," Ness answered, "but first let me ask you something; do you trust me on my word?"
The group stood silently for a moment and no one seemed to fidget. Nikana finally answered, "I don't put my full trust on people when I haven't got to know them much. However, I work with them for the better. You probably don't trust me either since we've only met within a day. The only two things you must trust are how I train you to fight and the powers I grant you. When the time has come to do a serious difficult battle with The Master Hand, I won't be there to help you much. Neither would your friends, but they are more welcome to watch the fight."
"How long does Ness have to train?" Poo asked Nikana.
"Because you guys are having something called ‘Summer Vacation', I won't be forced to train you too long. However, we would do some SERIOUS training for a full week. Lucky that I didn't push it for two weeks."
"For a week?" Ness whined. "Why does it have to be that long?"
"I've used to train my fighters for four full days. Due to my six failures with them, I've extended my days of preparation. I will be very harsh, but it's the only way to learn and to become strong. For now, I am about to grant you one of the powers that I stole from The Master Hand."
She slowly extended her arm out and her fingertips landing on the young boy's forehead. With a soothing tone of voice, Nikana ordered, "Close your eyes and open you mind."
Ness did as what Nikana had told him to do. He felt a little nervous about the new power he was going to receive and use, but then something else happened inside him. Ness felt an unexpected calmness among him and his nervousness and worrying had quickly faded. It was odd, but it wasn't the only thing what Ness had noticed. Nikana's cold fingers became suddenly warm and Ness sensed something scanning through his brain. He also felt a new memory being added. . . something powerful being added.
After a brief minute, Nikana removed her fingers from Ness' forehead and stood back. Ness opened his black-disc eyes and slowly looked around him, not alert to anything. He gazed at Nikana lazily and calmly asked, "What did you do to me. . .?"
"Don't worry about how you feel." Nikana reassured the boy. "It's part of the memory process and its purpose is to help open people's minds while receiving powers. The power you've received is called ‘PK Fire'. This power enables you to shoot a fire disc from your fingertips and to set your opponents on fire. Come, let us practice somewhere else where there would be no disturbance."
Nikana grabbed Poo's and Ness' arms, shut her eyes and the threesome disappeared from Ness' front lawn.

Poo, Ness, and Nikana landed in an endless, open field. Small, golden-yellow grass stood up from the ground and the landscape had some small, wide hills. No trees stood to provide shade and no life forms were to be found other than the small group of three. The sky was brightly sunny and cloudless.
"What is this place?" Poo wondered out loud.
"You are in another dimension." Nikana replied. "I consider this open area as one of the training grounds that I've created."
"So you do posse physic abilities." Ness assumed.
"They aren't officially mine." Nikana corrected. "Anyhow, I'll tell you about what I have later. We don't have the time to socialize any more from this point on. I had told you enough about what will happen and what I've planned to do with you. Now, let's get started."
She slowly closed her hazel eyes again. Suddenly, a small figure appeared out of thin air and stood on its hind legs. The figure was no bigger than Ness, but had an unrealistic appearance. The creation was green and its body was made up of symmetrical shapes as if it were a 3D stained glass sculpture. It had small arms, a round body and pointed ears that looked like rabbit ears.
Nikana opened her eyes and stared at the creature as Ness and Poo stared at it in awe. The young teenage girl slipped her cloak off her body and had worn a green tunic and boots underneath the cloak. Her cloak flew with the strong breeze and farther away from the group.
Ness glanced back at Nikana and asked, "What the heck is THAT thing?"
"Ness, meet ‘Polygon Pikachu'." She said with a smile. "The Master Hand has Polygon figures like these except his are purple and mine are green. I can control this creation of mine as if it were a remote controlled robot. First, I'm going to allow you to target practice a little with the new acquired power I gave you. Just point your fingers at Polygon Pikachu, call out the name of the power and watch."
Ness nodded as he stood in his ready position, pointed both fingers at Polygon Pikachu and called out, "PK Fire!"
Suddenly a disc of flame shot out from his fingertips and nailed Polygon Pikachu. The tiny disc grew into a large flame and caught on Polygon Pikachu. The figure fell back and hit the ground as Ness repeated the process over and over again. Poo stood back and watched in amazement. Afterwards, Ness stopped and said with excitement to Poo, "Wait till Paula and Jeff see this!"
Nikana looked at Ness and said, "Before you become too cocky with your powers, I want you to promise me that you will not show anyone except your three friends your powers."
"Ohhhhh! So you want this to be secretive about this, huh?"
"I'm not playing around, Ness. Don't you do-"
"Alright! I won't! I was just kidding! By the way, when am I going to get my next power?"
Nikana smiled in a sly way and said, "That's the catch. When you think you're ready to fight against me and perform well to my judgement, I will hand it to you. However, I would like to see some of your own fighting moves and what you plan to use."
Ness demonstrated PSI Magnetic and how it functioned. He also had his Gusty baseball bat and instead of using his slingshot, he performed a few yo-yo stunts. However, Nikana was not that much impressed in the boy's skills.
"Hmm. Interesting moves, but they aren't that serious as I thought they would be. What I want to see is your charging attack and how much damage you can cause. In fact, I want to see if you can really tackle and knock me down off my feet."
The young boy looked at the girl with a hesitant expression.
"I don't hit girls." Ness said with honesty. "There is no way that I'm going to hit you."
Nikana smirked and shook her head. She finally said, "So appearance is what going to take you down and make you lose a fight? I accept your fighter's code of not hitting the weaker status, but in the battle it doesn't matter if someone looks weak, or is the opposite sex of you, or is peaceful looking to your standards. Some fighters are going to look that and some are not. Besides, I healed one of your friends yesterday and I have the ability to heal myself too. Just come on and give it your best shot."
Ness shrugged the feeling off and darted at Nikana as fast as he could. He clenched his fists and tried to throw a swing at the girl. At an instant, Nikana quickly dodged Ness' attack and pushed the young boy aside with the force of her strength. Ness collapsed to the ground, face flat and groaned. The young teenage girl extended a hand to help the young boy up off the ground. Poo watched and tried the best not to snort, smile, or laugh at his friend.
The boy shook his head and brushed the torn grass out of his thick black hair. He glared at Nikana and screamed, "NO FAIR! You moved out of the way! You're supposed to stand still!"
"Yea sure!" Nikana said and giggled. "You expect every fighter you go up against to stand still aimlessly and you to attack them? The Polygon Team, The Master Hand's little creations, is never off guard! The good advantages are that when their team mates are angered by their other team mates, they will automatically attack them instead of you. However, it is kind of rare for that to happen. Come, I will teach you more fighting skills that are to be required."
"Man, I don't like your attitude anymore." Ness complained.

Later On In Another Dimension. . .

The Master Hand floated around in its own private room in boredom. Its arch rivalry was gone for the past four days and wondered where she was hiding. She randomly came with a challenger who was willing to challenge it, but every time she did, The Master Hand easily defeated the others from the realm of Nintendo with its own powers.
The Master Hand's powers were awesome, strong, and unique. Not even its foe could defeat itself alone with the powers it had, but the girl had such excellent thieving skills. She had stolen most of its powers and donated them to every fighter she personally trained. However, she could not reach its other powers that were more powerful than hers and her fighters were.
Wondering where Nikana was hidden, it waved and an orb appeared in the center of the three-dimensional room. The orb flashed a shining light and showed of a small town. It showed the front yard of someone's house, with no one in the picture.
The Master Hand wondered quietly. It tried to trace Nikana's footsteps and had done so successfully by tracking her with its "magical" orb. However, there was only one place that the orb couldn't track.
*She must be in her own little domain!* The Master Hand growled.
It paced around the room impatiently. Then it touched the orb and with telepathically, The Master Hand said to the orb, *What world is Nikana staying at?*
The orb suddenly flashed and showed a sign. The sign read "Welcome to Eagleland Travelers!".
The Master Hand laughed hysterically and said to itself, *So it appears that my arch rival has already selected a fighter. I shall see what fighter she has chosen later on and find his weakness in order to defeat him and my enemy for good.*
With that, the orb disappeared in the room.

            Chapter 4

During the past few days of harsh and difficult training, Ness had grown stronger and more skilled each day. He practiced his power and fighting skills on Nikana's polygon figures and in different obstacles that Nikana had constructed in her mind. Frequently, Paula, Poo, and Jeff went with Ness and Nikana to watch Ness' progress.
After successfully winning small battles against Nikana's polygon figures, Ness finally felt confident enough to fight against Nikana, in order to receive his last power from her. He was determined to win a match against the teenage girl.
In the endless open field, Nikana and Ness stretched under the hot sun and warmed themselves up for the match. Nikana removed her cloak and boots in order to feel less weight as an advantage of winning the match. Paula, Poo, and Jeff sat underneath a nearby tree that Nikana provided for shade from the heat rays of the sun.
Ness and Nikana stood a few feet away from each other. Jeff decided to keep time of the match taking place and to signal when the battle should begin or end. Nikana crossed her arms with boredom as Ness stood in his ready position.
Finally, Jeff called out, "May the best one win and um. . . what are the rules to this fight?"
"There are no rules to this match." Nikana simply replied with a serious expression. "The whole objective is to badly damage your opponent and at the end, we will both heal ourselves."
    "How badly do you mean?"
"Hurt the opponent so badly that he or she would have trouble pulling him or herself off the ground."
Paula stared at Ness with a concern, but Ness only smiled in order to reassure her.
"Righto." Jeff acknowledged, but felt unsure of his best friend's safety. "On the count of three, you two shall start and no cheating. One. . . Two. . . Three! Go!"
At the same time, Ness summoned PK Fire as Nikana called for PK Spark (A lighting bolt that shoots from her fingertips). Both of the opposite powers clashed and Ness rolled away. Nikana slowly walked over to Ness as the flame and the sparks died from the clash. Ness quickly charged at Nikana with full speed, but the teenage girl stepped away. At that instant, Ness turned, pulled out his Gusty bat and swung it at Nikana. It nailed her in the stomach as the girl flew away and hit the ground.
Her arm hung across her stomach, but Ness pulled out his Combat yo-yo and knocked her off the ground. The boy then realized that Nikana wasn't trying her best in order to have him win the match. However, because of her strict, serious attitude, why would she?
Ness ran straight for Nikana, but the teenage girl sweep kicked him from the ground. The boy fell back as Nikana rose from the ground and summoned PK Shocker. A lighting bolt streaked down from the sky and nailed Ness with incredible strength from where he stood. The boy flew and landed on the hard, cracked ground. He groaned in pain and coughed with a dry throat, but was able to pull himself up off the ground. The scorching heat of the sun seemed to weaken Ness as he stood.
The young boy quickly caught sight of Nikana who was charging directly at him. She quickly leaped into the air and tried a jump kick. At that moment before her bare foot could nail the boy hard in the chest, Ness quickly reached out, grabbed her foot, pushed and twisted her ankle to the side. The girl yelped in shock and in pain as she was thrown to the ground and landed face flat. While Nikana was still on the ground, Ness kicked her in the stomach. Paula and Jeff reacted with shock and horror of Ness' violent behavior. Poo sat quietly with an expressionless face.
After kicking Nikana in the stomach, Ness grabbed her by the collar of her tunic. With the help of his PSI strength, Ness threw the girl as far back as he could. The girl landed far away from Ness and then refused to get up. However, he heard a beeping noise below his feet. Ness glanced down at his feet to find that Nikana had laid a mine.
"Aw crap!" Ness said in shock as the mine detonated with a gigantic explosion.
The boy flew father away from the group and away from Nikana's battered body. Ness hit the ground and barely felt it. His vison grew dim and he heard Paula crying as she ran to him. He also heard fainting voices that were calling out his name. Ness felt himself growing incredibly weak. Paula finally reached the boy and tried to shake him gently. She cried out his name in terror, but Ness was too weak to even reply to the weeping girl. He slowly closed his eyes and lost his consciousness.
Jeff and Poo ran to Paula's side and stared at the motionless Ness in horror. Nikana dragged herself over to the group and glanced at Ness. Paula glared at Nikana.
"Oh my God!" Paula shrieked at Nikana. "You've blew Ness! Thanks to your ‘special training' I've lost someone! You B-"
"Ness can't be dead from that explosion." Nikana stated as she placed two fingers on the side of Ness' neck. "He's alive, but unconscious. Even if we healed him, he would still be out. The best thing to do is to let him rest. I do admit that he won the match before he was blown away."
"We have to get Ness out of here." Poo stated. "The heat won't do any better for him."
"Let's get Ness into a hospital to rest and restore most of his PSI powers." Jeff suggested and the group agreed.
Nikana healed herself as Paula cured Ness with her PSI Healing. Then the two girls lift Ness' body off the ground. Nikana closed her eyes as the group disappeared and landed near the hospital in Onett.

At the hospital, the nurses placed Ness on a bed in a room. Paula sat near Ness' side of the bed on a stool as the unconscious boy rested peacefully. The girl refused to abandon Ness' side and no one in the group argued with her. Jeff, Poo and Nikana sat outside of Ness' room to keep a watch of visitors. While sitting outside of Ness' room a short blonde-haired woman came up to Jeff, who was followed by a young blonde-haired girl.
"Where's my son?!" The mother asked Jeff with panic and glanced at Poo and Nikana. "What happened to him?!"
"Um-" Jeff began, but before the boy could explain further more, the woman dashed into the room.
The girl who followed the mother stayed behind with the group. She recognized Jeff and Poo, but studied Nikana with curiosity.
"I don't quite remember you." The girl stated at Nikana. "You have some funny clothes on there. You're one of Ness' friends, right?"
Nikana only nodded slowly, but casually. The girl then introduced, "I'm Tracy, Ness' sister. Mom received a phone call from the hospital, pulled me out from work and we rushed over here. My Mom works herself too hard as you can tell, but she's a good mother."
Tracy giggled and then said, "So you say that you are Ness' friend? Man, my big brother has got some weird and messed up friends! Don't you even realize that Halloween isn't until three months from now?"
Jeff gave Nikana and Poo a concern look and shook his head. To Nikana, Jeff whispered in her ear, "Your secret is going to be screwed."

The woman found Ness, laying unconscious in bed as Paula sitting beside him. She walked over to Ness and ran her finger across his cheek. She shot Paula a worried look and asked, "How did this happen?"
"Well um, you see. . . " Paula began to say and paused. Ness told her not to tell anyone about the secret mission of battling The Master Hand, in order to not stir up panic in the world.
Suddenly, a soft groan broke the silence and Paula's choked speech. Ness blinked his black disc eyes slightly open and struggled to arise from the hospital bed. Paula gently pushed Ness down on the bed and said, "You need to rest."
"I've been resting enough, Paula." Ness mumbled and found his mother who had shot a relieved look. "Where am I? What happened?"
"You're here at the hospital, Ness." His mother replied. "How do you feel?"
"Fine I guess. My head hurts though. What happened?"
"We were walking around the Winters," Paula lied, "until a bear suddenly knocked you hard."
Telepathically, Paula answered to Ness, *You were bombed pretty good by your reliable friend, Nikana. We thought that we've lost you.*
"What?!" Ness' mother shrieked with shock. "A bear attacked my son?!"
"Yeah, but we took care of it." Paula lied. "There's nothing to worry about."
Ness' mother examined Ness and said, "I don't see any claw marks on you, Ness. Where did the bear hit you?"
"Um. . . I don't remember." Ness said, shaking his head and lied as he followed Paula's story. "All I can remember is that I hit my head into a tree. I must have been thrown or something."
Ness' mother looked at Paula and the girl only nodded. His mother smiled and said to Ness, "All right then. You have to be careful when you go over to Jeff's, you hear? Why don't you rest for a while here as I go home and get dinner started. I'll see you home soon, ok?"
Ness nodded as he watched his mother leave the room. Paula sighed a relief and remarked, "That was too close. I thought she wouldn't believe that story."
Just then, Jeff, Poo, and Nikana walked in the room and circled the bed. Nikana shot questioning eyes to Ness and Paula as Paula replied, "No, his mom didn't find out about the mission. We had to make a story up for her to believe."
Nikana slightly nodded and said, "Thank you, Paula," and turn to Ness.
"So how do you feel?" Nikana asked the boy.
"A little better, but stuck with a minor headache." Ness weakly replied.
"That isn't unexpected," Nikana said and tried to smile, "especially when that explosion knocked you a few yards away. Sometimes healing doesn't heal us completely, but I know something that might be used as a ‘painkiller'. Besides, you've earned it and had become a strong, bitter fighter. Just close your eyes and open your mind. . ."
Ness knew what Nikana had planned to give him as an award for winning the match against her. He obeyed her as the teenage girl placed her cold, dried up fingers on his forehead and closed her hazel eyes. Ness began to feel more relaxed and calm as Nikana's fingers began to feel warm and soft. He felt another memory slowly slipping into his mind and then finding himself feeling more relaxed. The boy grew tired again and on the hospital bed, he was put to sleep.
Nikana finished the process and stood back. Unexpectedly, Ness feel asleep during the process of a new power being added. Paula started to glare at Nikana and said in an angered and an annoyed tone, "Again, you have put Ness out! What's up with that?!"
"I didn't mean to do it on purpose and this happened to me before." Nikana stated for her own defense. "Besides, Ness will awake again in about a few minutes so relax. The power that I have granted him is ‘PK Thunder', which my personal favorite. The power enables him to shock his victims and if they stand too close to him or far away.
"If Ness is about to be thrown off the ring he can use this power to boost him back into the ring. The few good things about this power is that when he hits himself with the electric ball, he will take no damage or any harm or when he is effected. If he knocks himself into someone while being electrocuted, Ness can easily throw his opponents right out of the ring, no matter how strong the opponent is. Also, he can control where the thunder ball can go and hit."
Jeff and Paula stared at Nikana in awe as Poo stared at the girl with a little bit of shock and amazement. Paula glanced down at Ness and begin to wonder about the risks of his chosen destiny.

    *        *         *        *         *        *

Meanwhile, The Master Hand watched the scene that took place in the hospital from his orb. Nikana had granted the boy, who laid in bed asleep, a new power. A power in which the teenage girl had stolen from him. It was one of The Master Hand's best powers he had and yet, his arch enemy managed to get a hold of it. This angered The Master Hand greatly and it had to come up with a plan to capture her as quick as possible.
However, The Master Hand laughed to itself hysterically. Nikana was foolish enough to put her trust in a young boy who was even weaker than her, or so it thought. The chosen fighter humored the Master Hand and it decided to observe the boy, in order to find a weakness it could use against him.
He began to observe not only the selected fighter, but a girl with short, light-blonde hair, who sat at his side. The Master Hand noticed that the group tried to pry the girl away from the wounded and unconscious boy, but she refused and remained at his side. She was also willing to stick up for the boy and to keep a secret from his mother.
At last, The Master Hand had thought of a plan to make the young chosen fighter and its rival surrender.

            Chapter 5

On the same day when Ness was released from the hospital, everyone went home except for him and Paula. Again they decided to walk each other home and discuss private and personal business that they couldn't share with Jeff, Poo, or Nikana. The sun that once shined over Eagleland began to set and it was close for darkness to come rule the sky. Ness and Paula were on their way to Twoson and decided to walk the way there.
"So that was the power that Nikana inserted into me?" Ness asked Paula about his new power.
"Yep. She said that she would train you tomorrow before she left with Poo for Daalam. According to her, she said that PK Thunder is the best and most useful power she has given to you. However, I still don't trust her."
"Why's that? She's been with us over a week."
"She's not that caring as she seems to be. She looks like that she's using you for something that she wants desperately and doesn't car whatever happens to you."
"She wants to free the realms and destroy The Master Hand. Who would want a dictating ‘God' to control or run you life? I doubt that she's using me."
"Yes, but the question is why can't she battle against The Master Hand with those powers she has been giving to those fighters?"
There was a silent pause of question. The two didn't speak, but Ness thought about Paula's question carefully. Nikana had some powers stored within her, so why couldn't she use them to defeat The Master Hand herself? Why give them away?

The two kids were a few blocks away from Polestar Preschool, also known as Paula's house. As they were passing Orange Kid's house, Ness heard an unusual buzzing sound. He stopped walking and listened. Paula stopped walking as Ness did, shot a confused glance at the boy that indicated she was hearing the sound.
    "What's that noise?" Paula whispered.
Ness shook his head and whispered, "It sounds like a Starman, but we've defeated Giygas a year ago! It can't be!"
Two polygon figures and a short metallic figure dropped from the sky and landed a few feet, surrounding Ness and Paula. The two polygon figures looked like Nikana's from Ness' training, except they were purple and more deadly looking. Ness could somewhat recall who the purple polygon figures belonged to. The metallic figure however, was shorter than Ness and Paula and looked like a figure of a man with a big nose and big fists. It also wore a cap on it's head.
"Aren't those Nikana's figures. . .?" Paula asked in a nervous tone as the polygon figures and the metallic figure walked towards them closer.
"No, hers are only green!" Ness suddenly realized. "I don't know about that metal looking robot guy, but those polygon figures are The Master Hand's. We have to-"
*Surrender now, human.* Hummed a telepathic, robotic voice to Ness and Paula. *You are pointless into defeating us. We will crush you if you do not surrender you and your pathetic world to our God.*
"We can't let these guys win and it's up to us." Ness said to Paula as the blonde-haired girl agreed and armed herself with her PSI Powers.
Ness commanded PK Fire and shot a fire disc to a polygon figure. It nailed the polygon figure in the chest as Ness' power caught the figure on fire. Paula summoned PSI Freeze Alpha and fired at a polygon figure. However, the polygon figure had taken no damage and absorbed her PSI power! Paula began to back up into Ness with a feeling of defeat. The boy quickly glanced behind his shoulder.
"They're too strong!" Paula said trembling with a little bit of fear. "That polygon figure had just absorbed my power! I don't have my frying pan with me for any defense!"
Great, Ness thought sarcastically. We're screwed.
Just then, a tall, slender polygon figure lunged at Paula. Ness quickly turned and swung with full strength at the attacker with his Gusty bat. The polygon figure flew a few feet back and crashed onto the concrete road. As Ness glanced behind him, Paula was no where beside of him.
Just then, Ness heard a shriek. The boy turned to find that the metallic figure had grabbed Paula and was dragging her up the street away from Ness.
*Ness, help me!* Paula cried telepathically and hysterically. *Help me! Please! I can't resist from this guy's grasp!*
The boy darted after the metallic figure. He was edging closer to his target as the metallic figure walked carelessly up the street, while dragging Paula. Just as Ness was about to summon PK Fire, the figure suddenly disappeared, along with his hostage. The boy stopped in his tracks and scanned around the area frantically. The polygon figures had also disappeared.
Ness clenched his fists and teeth with a feeling of anger, frustration and great loss. Paula was gone and held captive at will. Not knowing what to do, Ness scanned the area that he stood around cautiously. At that moment, he knew what he must do in order to defeat The Master Hand and free Paula.
Ness ran down the dark street and headed for Twoson's First Class Hotel. He quickly ran inside, up to the check-in desk and picked up the phone. The clerk turned, snatched the phone out of Ness' hand and said, "Why do you need to use the phone? We're starting a new policy that says that no one cannot use the phone unless an emergency. This isn't a public phone where we are forced to pay the bills."
"But this is an emergency!" Ness exclaimed as he grabbed the phone from the clerk's hand and started dialing as fast as he could.
The boy listened to the phone ringing and ringing repeatedly. After a while, the phone had been answered.
"Hello, this is Dr. Andonuts speaking." Said a man's voice. "Who is this?"
"Yes um, this is Ness," the boy identified, "Jeff's best friend. I need to talk to him now!"
"I'm sorry Ness, but Jeff has gone off to bed. He's due back at his boarding school tomorrow morning from his two week vacation."
"I know, but this is so extremely important that I must talk to him! It can't wait till tomorrow. Can you wake him up, pleeeaaassseee?!"
There was a silence at the end of the line. No other background noise came from the phone. Ness looked at the phone to find that the hotel clerk had hit the receiver button to disconnect Ness from communicating with Jeff's father. The clerk then snatched the phone out of Ness' hand and hung it up.
"Ok kid," said the annoyed hotel clerk, "I've told you that you can't use the phone unless you have to call for a taxi or a medical emergency. It sounds like that you are using this phone to talk to friends."
Ness glared at the hotel clerk. He had it with this load of crap and was in no mode for putting up with people tonight. The boy made another attempt to try to pick the phone up again.
"Kid if you don't leave this hotel at once, I'm calling security to remove you." The clerk warned and was now angered. "If there is an emergency, what is it?"
Ness sighed his surrender over fighting with the use of the phone. He was forced to keep the mission of The Master Hand a secret. The boy hung the phone up and growled, "There is no emergency."
    "I thought so. Now leave!"
Ness stormed out of the hotel and walked down the street. He felt hopeless and for the first time in a long time, he felt like that he wanted to cry desperately. The boy wanted to know if Paula was safe and where she was being held. He couldn't stop worrying about her and started to think of worst things that might happen to the cheerful girl at the moment. His thoughts were horrific.
The boy walked under a lamp post and leaned against it. He didn't want to go home to worry his mother with his expression. In fact since he was late on his curfew, Ness knew that his mother would began to worry about him then. He sighed tiredly, not knowing what else to do. Ness was forced to be strong, courageous, and wise.
Suddenly, a figure dropped from the lamp post and startled the boy. It held a long staff with a sharp blade at the end and it was held in a rest position. Ness quickly caught himself on guard, but suddenly recognized the figure who had surprised him.
"What are you doing here, Nikana?" Ness asked and then began to recall Paula's questions about not trusting the aggressive, teenage girl.
Nikana snapped her fingers as her staff disappeared in mid air.
"I sensed danger and an evil presence here." The girl replied. "I tried to came here as fast as I can and I found no one. However, I did spot you walking into that building and I decided to wait outside for you."
Ness shook his head and was confused and upset. He then asked her with his anger, "How did you sense them here?! You said yourself that those psychic powers aren't yours! And how did you get all of those powers?! You act like that you could defeat The Master Hand by yourself! Why did you chose me to be your puppet?!"
The girl looked at him with some sadness in her hazel eyes. She stood and stared at Ness with silence and then stared at the ground.
"You don't understand, do you?!" Nikana said with some sadness in her tone and demanded the truth from him. "Those powers I posses now are what I've stolen from The Master Hand. I admit that I was sort of a criminal back on my world, but I only stole things in order to survive on my planet.
"At every match with those fighters I've trained, I manage to get into The Master Hand's secret chamber. There's an orb in there that posses The Master Hand's power. I steal them at every match while my fighters are busy fighting The Master Hand. There are some powers I can access and there are some that are impossible to get to. In case the fighters do not win the match, I would had stolen the powers from The Master Hand, escape from his dimension, and insert the powers in a fighter's mind. I don't keep the same powers that you've acquired from me; I simply give them away. Once I've given them to you, I cannot use that same power."
Ness stood in silence, but did not change his mood a bit.
"You still haven't answered my other question." Ness pointed and growled. "If you could of gained access to all of those powers you've collected, why did you give them away to people instead of using them yourself? Why do you have to put others in danger along with their people and world?"
"Ah, you need to think about that reason a little harder, Ness. You see, I was the only person from my realm that escaped and knew about The Master Hand. Without me stealing those powers and giving them away, the Realm of Nintendo would fall like my realm has. There wouldn't have been anyone to help prepare or warn anyone in the Realm of Nintendo. Consider yourself extremely lucky.
"Also by stealing powers from The Master Hand, I would not only weaken him but confusing him. I have stolen various powers from him and gave them to separate fighters. He does not know what powers I have given the fighters, including you, and because of that it leaves an advantage for the fighters to fight him. If I had fought against The Master Hand myself, he would of known all of the powers that I've stolen from him and easily defeated me. Then everything else fails.
"Yes, I do not like the fact of putting people in danger and having it to be all my fault. I didn't want to do this, but it was destiny that forced me into it. I was destined to save the two Realms and paste them back together. I had no other choice but to make those six sacrifices. Trust me Ness, I do not like to go around and putting peoples lives in danger and failing them. It's just how I was put in."
Ness was quiet as his anger had cooled down. He wished that he had heard this before Paula was kidnaped. Then the girl asked, "Is Paula home safe and sound?"
The boy sadly shook his head. He saw Nikana beginning to worry and tried not to panic. Her eyes began to sadden more.
"We must challenge The Master Hand as soon as possible, or the world would be easily destroyed." Said Nikana in a worried voice. "He will try to get answers from Paula about you and would easily defeat you. We must hurry and gather Jeff and Poo. I must also train you to master PK Thunder. It shouldn't take too long to learn it."
The two took off running to Onett town. While running beside each other, Nikana asked Ness, "Do you know who kidnaped Paula?"
"There were two polygon figures and a short metallic figure that we were going up against." Ness answered as Nikana stopped themselves from running.
"Hold it! A metallic figure? What did it look like?"
"He had a cap, a big fat nose that stuck out, shorter than Paul and I and had big fists."
Nikana squeezed her right hand into a tight fist. She then growled, "The return of Metal Mario. Son of a ***. . . I thought I had got rid of him for good! He's the hardest fighter, besides The Master Hand, to defeat and takes forever to kill. He's a lot stronger than what he looks. Shall we teleport to Jeff's?"
Ness nodded and Nikana held a strong, firm grasp onto his shoulder. The two teleported to The Winters to retrieve Jeff and planned to have Poo join them.
