Chapter 2: ...not

"No way!" Ness said. "Any leads to where he is?"

Pokey walks further into the house and leans on the sofa, panting hard from running. "Um...*wheeze* ...no ideas. Maybe he is near the meteor site." Pokey walks around and plops himself down on the sofa. He picked up the remote for the television. "Hey Ness' mom, get me some popcorn!"

While Ness' mother throws a bag of popcorn over to Pokey, Ness catches it. "Dont get too comfortable, Pokey," Ness said, "we are leaving in a few minutes."

Pokey turned pale and he started to sweat. His panting and wheezing started to take over again. "You mean, go out...there?" Pokey managed to say.

"Where did you expect to go?" Ness said while he threw to popcorn bag at Pokeys face angrily. "Your responsible for your brother, I shouldn't have to play Search and Rescue. Im only doing this for Picky, not you." Ness ran to his room to get prepared.

As Pokey sat there, he mumbled under his breath, "Ness never liked me...he never did. He is always...better."

Ness, while up in his room, took a minute to walk over to the window in his room to see if he could see Picky. All he saw were trees and the glow from the meteorite.

"I remember..." Ness said "...a wild dog attacked me. Maybe I should take some protection.". Ness looked around his room for anything he could take with him. He searched his closet, under his bed, and in his cabinet. He then remembered his bat. He searched for it to no success. "Oh yea, I broke it today."

Ness ran over to Tracy's room and spotted an old box from her birthday. He looked inside and found his baseball bat from earlier. It was glued together with some wood glue. "Its still broken, but it may do more good then bad."

Ness ran back downstairs and woke up his dog, King, who was sleeping.

"Ness," said King, "I was sleeping. I actually had a good dream. I was flea free, and I was just sitting in the sun in the nice grass. Then all of a sudden Pokey comes in and his smell wakes me up. I start to fall asleep again and then you wake me up. Now the fleas are after me again. Why Ness, why must you..."*

"Sorry King," Ness said as he knelt down to pet King on the head, " I just wanted to know if you would like to come look for Picky with us."

"Picky's lost? I doubt that" Tracy said as she came over to King to brush him. "Picky is way more brave than Pokey and hes so much cuter." Pokey, whom was to involved in the television, didn't hear that comment.

"Sorry Tracy but Kings comin with me. You can brush him later." Ness said as he stood up. He snatched the remote from Pokey and he also got up. "Bye mom!" Ness said as him, King and Pokey attempted to walk out the door. The phone started to ring.

"Ness, Im to lazy to get it..." says Ness' mother, who was standing closest to the phone.

"But mom you're right the..."

"Ness!", said his mom, who cut him off mid-sentence.

Ness walked over to the phone and picked up.

"Hello?" Ness said.

"Hey Ness its your father. Speak softly and carry a big stick, you will go far. Have you ever heard a strange quote like that? Its true, make sure you have a...oh never mind. Remember, Im always behind you 75% and the other 25% im at work, so I will make the most out of that 25%. Here, I got a deal, how about I wire money to your ATM account over time?"

"Sounds good!" Ness said.

"Well, just dont forget to call me periodically during your adventure." said his father.

Ness paused. "Wait, how do you know about my adventure..."

"Gotta go!!!!" said Ness' father as he hung up. Ness hung up to and walked out

As soon as they exited the door, they were confronted by a Spiteful Crow.

Ness swung at it with his bat while Pokey threw his hands up in the air and ran away to a bush and hid in there. Waiting for Pokey within that bush was a Coil Snake. After wetting himself...Pokey ran back towards Ness.

"Stupid crow!" Ness said as he still continued to swing at the Spiteful Crow, who was diving out of the air, pecking at Ness, causing damage. The Spiteful Crow almost hit Pokey, but missed, due to Pokey tipping over his own shoe lace and falling on his face.

King saw the Coil Snake and ran up to it, growling. He hesitated when he saw a wet spot. "Oh man, Pokey wet himself. This is my favorite bush." While King stood there in disbelief, the Coil Snake came out and nearly bit him on the foot. King snapped to his senses and bit the Coil Snake, and while keeping it in his mouth, King shook his head like he was playing with a toy. When he let the Coil Snake go, it ran away.

Ness finally managed to nail the Spiteful Crow with a smashing hit, causing it to fly away. After they regrouped, the glowing of the meteorite reminded them of their objective.

They headed up the path that they went when they first went to investigate the meteor. On the way there, they saw a friend of Ness, Liar X. Aggerate. Liar was standing in front of his house.

"Hey Ness, whats goin' on kid?" Liar asked. "Hey I heard a voice over by the meteor. It sounded like a child. I didnt pay attention 'cause I thought the radiation was makin' me hear some things. Ya might wanna check that out."

"Maybe its Picky," Ness said, "thanks Liar! Quick! Lets hurry Pokey!"

"Wait! Ness...I have...". Liar tried to get the attention of Ness, but before he could, they were gone.

They finally reached the meteor site.

"Awooooof!" King barked. "Im gettin hungry, sorry guys but a dog gotta eat. Later days!" King ran back down the path to go to the house.

While Pokey watched King run down the hill, and eventually stopping to go to the bathroom on a bush, someone tapped on his shoulder. When pokey turned around, he felt a fist hit him very hard in the stomach.

"POKEY!" said the boy. It was Picky, who was furious. "Pokey, what the heck kind of big brother are you?! Oh, hey Ness!"

"Hey Picky," Ness responded, "what did Pokey do this time?"

"After the police left, Pokey tried to act brave and go out to look at the meteorite closer. He never made it. He's scared of the dark, and the eerie glow of the meteorite scared him. I heard him screaming all the way from my room. He was screaming "AHH HELP! ITS DARK AND THE GLOWING ROCKS IS SCARING ME!", so I decided to come find him." Picky explained.

"Yea, he showed up at my house." He said. He laughed. "Pokey said you were missing."

Both Picky and Ness started to laugh hysterically. A breeze calmed them down, and they got up from rolling on the ground in laughter.

"Im out of here!!" said Pokey. Ness and Picky started to walk passed the meteor. The meteor started to glow brighter and they heard a buzzing sound. Pokey freaked out.

"AH! Its a bee! Get him away!" Pokey screamed at the top of his lungs while flailing his hands wildly, trying to swat whatever was buzzing around him.

The buzzing answered back. "A bee I am...not."
