A figure that often twisted in amongst itself smiled. His plans were going according to plan.
He ignored the screams of his prisoners, numbering five in all. He would have honestly preferred to have only taken four of the five; however, the taking of the fifth was something he had been forced to do. Now, he would avenge the acts of the four.
A dark flash dimmed the room, and from inside the flash, a figure dressed in black robes appeared.
"So, my minion," the first figure, its figure suddenly whirling around the robed one, asked, "you have apprehended the Power Crystal from the warriors of good?"
"Yes, Master," the robed one said. "It has been apprehended."
The robed one revealed a small crystal, pulsing red, blue and black, to the first figure, who took it from the robed one. Then, all of a sudden, the crystal stopped pulsing; and it was locked in a colourless tone.
Both figures began to think about a reason for this having happened, but truly had no idea. Indeed, they expected it to be a side-effect of the travel through non-space that had done this to the Power Crystal.
The twisting figure, having heard enough of his prisoners, extended a branch of his viscous body towards a computer console; and, once the figure pressed a button, the cage the prisoners were in faded away, disappeared into the darkness. And the screams and pleas to be released faded away too.
"What did you wish me to acquire the Crystal for, Master?" the robed one asked.
"I need it," Giogas, the twisting figure, said, "to advance my plans. Without it, I can not create my new army."
"New army?" the robed one inquired, perplexed.
"Previous invasions of this world have failed because the shock troops were imported from the home world. And evolution takes different courses on different planets. As a result, the armies were more easily noticed than Earth animals would be." Giogas branched off and pressed another button. "Look," he urged to the robed figure. "Look behind you."
The robed one looked behind himself. And on a computer screen there appeared a schematic of an animal.
"But that animal is too large for any of its species," the robed one noted. "Master, I believe you may want--"
"Did you not hear me?" Giogas shrieked, his voice suddenly becoming childish. "I merely said that Earth animals would be less easily noticed than Mook and Starmen. This animal is merely based on the animal it seems to mirror. But it is not just that."
The robed one gazed in awe. As he watched, parts of other animals were mixed in.
"The female mosquito to sense what I look for as it does for blood. The cheetah for speed. The chameleon for effective invisibility." Giogas clearly felt proud as he announced each animal. "But what should I name this animal?"
"I do not know, Master Giogas," the robed one said. "Perhaps you should choose yourself."
"Of course I would choose myself, fool!" Giogas branched out and smacked the robed one, who went flying into a wall, sprawled out on the floor. "In fact, I already have chosen a name."
"Then why ask what you should--" The robed one cut himself off, not willing to damage himself more.
"I have chosen the name Hanas. The Hanas will be, as it is now, the premier part of my army."
Giogas brought all his branches back into his viscous body and branched out once more. He pressed a button, and the Hanas began to be created.
