Haunted Dreams

Wake up every day, every morning the same;
"Little boy, why do you wake, nothing ever changes."

Live my life for boredom's sake, in my world of grey;
"Foolish boy, stop trying now, there's nothing left to see."

Living on a hope, on a simple chance;
"You know there's no such thing, hope and fate are fake."

For the belief that someday, I will have a chance;
"Why do you care, take the hand you're dealt and don't complain."

A chance for others, not just for me;
"You have no debt to others, your life is yours not theirs."

I want to help, I want to try, my life cannot be so short;
"Do not help, help yourself, don't think of such things."

To live without a bit of help would be death before my time;
"You might as well die, you've no purpose, stop this little game."

I live a life where dreams are not my own, but rather those near;
"Don't you care about yourself, can't you put their problems aside?"

I know my chance will come, it's just a matter of time;
"There is no chance for you, no reality for your dreams."

I'm ready and I'm waiting, to do my part for my fellow man.
"Little boy, don't even try, I won't tell you another time."
