Ness at the Bat Written by Jester The outlook wasn't brilliant for the Earthbound four that fateful day; Paula had fallen unconscious and she could no longer pray. They could not revive her, for Ness had no PP: There was no chance of winning, that anyone in Eagleland could see. A straggling few Mr. Saturns got up to go in deep despair. The rest had still hoped of victory, failure was too much to fear. They thought if only Ness could but get in a whack, They would surely win if Ness could use that awesome bat. But Jeff preceded Ness, as did also Poo, And the first was a nerd, and the second ate weird food. None of those Eaglelanders, on victory would bet cash, For there seemed but little chance of Ness getting a chance to SMAAASH! But Jeff threw a rocket, not at all the norm, And Poo, with his last PP, had creamed them with the power, Starstorm; And when the dust had lifted, and they saw what had occurred, There was Poo still alive, and so was the four-eyed nerd. Then from everyone's throats there had risen a large yell; It had rumbled through Saturn Valley, it had rattled in the dell; It had knocked upon Grapefruit Falls and recoiled and came back; For Ness, mighty Ness, had the next attack There was ease in Ness's manner, as he gripped that strong bat; There was pride in Ness's bearing, as he had flourished his baseball hat. And as he made a swing, giving the bat a trial, He just could not help it, he just could not stop a smile. Everyone's eyes were on him, his allies had been cheering; And although his enemies laughed, there had been nervousness in their jeering. As the enemy prepared, with many thoughts crossing their minds, Ness raised but two fingers, forming a peace sign. At that sign of confidence, his other friends had rejoiced; And the enemies had known it was coming, and they had stood readily poised Back then Ness went running, in his hand his bat, He had gone in fully intending to knock all of his enemies flat. Nowadays though, the evil Gigyas is still strong, And things like truth and love, are second to those that are wrong, All those who had once been happy, now live in a world that's unclean, And nice people are ordered around by those who are mean. For on that fateful day, the enemies had won. They had no more obstacles, they had not a one. Because Ness had missed the enemy, and they could then attack. Only because Ness had been wielding, none other than the Casey bat.
