Earthbound: Chrono Wave

Part I: Sands of Time

Prologue: 2 Years Later

A measly 2 years after the attack of Giygas, Ness seems to have found trouble once again, or we shall say, trouble has found him. Ness slept in content, and soon heard the familiar knock on his door. Very impatient it was. He walked drunkenly out of his door and down the hall, loosing his balance every now and then and hitting the walls. He barely felt a thing being that he is numb when he wakes up in the morning. So he slumped down the stairs and got to the door. He sloooowly turned the knob. It creaked like a non-oiled hinge. As if the world suddenly flew at him, Ness saw the door flying toward him at full speed. He felt the full impact of it on his face and soon found himself on the floor.

"Ow," He solemnly said. He barely felt any pain but soon realized that his nose was bleeding. He stood up and found no one there. He was very confused. Or maybe it was one of those strange happenings going on. He stared out of the door, into pitch-blackness. He forgot what time it was and looked at the clock. In 4 more hours, the sun would rise. Ness was too tired to ponder what it was that was knocking at the door and made it hit his face. He continued looking outside. It was so dark, Ness thought he had closed his eyes. Amazingly, he fell asleep with his eyes open, and the only thing keeping his eyes moisturized, were the moist atmosphere and the occasional raindrop. He was only asleep for 10 minutes when he was abruptly awoken with a sharp pain in the back. He fell down and was fully awake. He could feel his back throbbing from where the sting hit. He turned around to see, what looked like a bee.

" Hey, you," it said to Ness, "time to save the world again."

"Ahhh! Demon bee!" Ness yelled as he ran to get the fly swatter.

"No, no, no. It’s me! BuzzBuzz!" the bee explained. Ness continued running about searching for the fly swatter. He found it and whacked BuzzBuzz with it, sending him to the floor. The bee let out a huge flash, which sent Ness flying onto the couch.

"Hey, it really is you!" Ness said as he looked puzzled.

"Ya, why do you think I can talk?" BuzzBuzz, irritably, questioned.

"I just thought you were a bee send out from the bowels of the afterlife."

"Which afterlife?"

"The bad one."

"Well, wrong afterlife."
"So you really are dead and have projected a holographic form of yourself into my house and slammed the door you were knocking on my face with your psy powers which you know have an infinite number of!" Ness finished with a deep breath.

"...Yeah something like that." BuzzBuzz replied. "But here’s the deal, when you defeated Giygas, you-" His words were interrupted by Ness’s Mom yelling.

" Aaaah! Dung beetle!"

"Oh no, not again." BuzzBuzz whined.

"It’s not a dung beetle mom. It’s...its a-a bumble bee." Ness mumbled.

"Then why is it talking to you?" She questioned.

" Holy Bumble Bee from Heaven." He explained in a straight tone. Ness’s mom stared at him,

"...Ok, I’ll make breakfast." She said. Ness sat, relieved, on the couch.

" Here’s the deal, something strange has been going on lately, the snow in Winters is melting, the sandy beaches in Summers have been overflown with ice and glaciers and snow, Threed is getting new zombie threats, Desert Dunes is now a cool, cold, beach instead of miles of endless sand, Fourside has permanently turned to Moonside." BuzzBuzz explained.

"What about Tenda Village?" Ness asked.

" Wiped out." BuzzBuzz stated.

" Wow, that is weird." Ness said, amazed.

" It is what we call, a Chronological Displacement. Or a Chrono Wave." BuzzBuzz stated. "It is when doing something in the past, affects the future in many different ways. Some good, some bad. In this case, when you went to fight Gygas in the past, by defeating him, you set of one of these Chrono Waves," BuzzBuzz continued.

"Sooooo, is that good or bad?" Ness asked.

"Both. But more bad than good. The problem, is that sometime in the historical events, before you fought Giygas, Giygas was, believe it or not, good, and defeated a powerful enemy, called Dracos. Dracos was basically the Underworld in a shape. Giygas fought a long, lonely battle between Dracos that lasted for months. Finally, Giygas defeated him by finding his weak spot, but Giygas was unaware of the energy that Dracos possessed, and was soon caught under his spell. He turned evil, and had perfected the art of time travel. Thus creating the events that took place 2 years ago." BuzzBuzz explained, once again.

"But how can I find this Dracos guy? I mean, where is he?" Ness asked.

" He can be anywhere at anytime, the reason why these events have happened, is because of Dracos." BuzzBuzz concluded. Ness gave a grim look.

" You must find your friends that helped you 2 years ago, and find the 2 chronological points on the Earth. I bid you farewell." BuzzBuzz started fading away after his speech. Soon, the bee left behind a ball, one side was white, the other red. Ness picked it up. It glowed with a warm, reassuring light. An invisible voice echoed through Ness’s mind.

" Keep your faith, friendship, courage, and humor. You shall succeed." It said to him.

"Does this mean my little boy is leaving again?" Ness’s mom asked. Ness sighed.

"Well, if so, you can stock yourself up on food and items then." She replied to herself. Ness took a bag of cheesy’s, potatoes chips, 4 cans of Pepsi. He waddled up to his room and grabbed his brand new metal baseball bat. 100% Titanium/Steel alloy. He tiptoed to Tracy’s room. He grabbed her not-so-favorite teddy bear, knowing she wouldn’t mind. He smiled as he walked away from the room and slowly closed the door. He grabbed a drawing pad, paper, and pencils. For no reason, he took an egg and a butter knife, just because he felt he needed them. Before he left, we walked back to his room and changed into his normal cloths and took a few extra cloths and a small roll-up sleeping bag. When he got downstairs, he opened the door and sadly waved goodbye to home and his mom.

"Now remember, you can call me or your dad anytime." Were her final words to him, as he embarked on his new adventure, and as he left his home, his sad, gloomy mood suddenly transitioned into a gleeful mood, as the sun peaked over the cliffs, signaling a new day, and a new adventure.

Chapter 1: A Familiar Face Spotted

Ness trotted through Onnet. Everyone knew him. The hat and the stripped shirt were unmistakable. He walked through town waving along. Every car stopped for him. It wasn’t really the defeating of Gygas that made him famous in Onnet, it was the ridding of The Sharks and Frankie. He remembered about his favorite food, burgers, and decided to go to the burger shop. His stomach growled and he did not want to eat his food reserves.

"One Hamburger please." He asked politely. He yelled when he found out the cashier was Frankie!

"Hey, don’t I know you, aren’t you that kid that destroyed my most fabled machine 2 years ago?" Frankie asked.

"Uh, Uh, may-m-m-maybe." Ness fumbled nervously. Frankie gave him an evil look, then burst out laughing.

"Long time no see kid." Ness was relieved and started talking to Frankie, "The pay here is pretty good. 5 bucks an hour, 9 hours a day." The 2 started chatting for about 5 minutes until Ness found out his burger was ready.

" What’s the mission this time?" Frankie asked.

" Kill the bad guy, save the world. You know, average plot." Ness answered.

"Ah, well, I wish you the best of luck on this quest."

" Thanks. Bye the way, what is your real name?"

"Franklin Henry DeMach." Frankie replied, in a low, almost secret tone. Ness gave him a puzzled look.

"I see. Well, see you later. Good luck in work." Ness waved as he exited the shop with his burger. Outside, he gobbled that juicy, little, burger down extremely fast. That was about it for him. Ness then felt another grumble in his stomach. It wasn’t hunger. It wasn’t famine. It was homesick. Sure it was usual but he hasn’t even left his hometown yet. Ness rushed to the closest place, the hospital, and found the phone. He dialed his number and waited an answer. His mom answered in a reassuring tone.

"I got another homesick attack, mom." He whimpered.

"Oh, don’t worry about it, I remember 2 years ago. Our phone bill cranked up because of those homesick attacks. Just remember, there is always someone watching over you and protecting you." All of the sudden Ness felt better. He didn’t quite know why. He said goodbye and hung up. He pulled the little ball BuzzBuzz gave him and it glowed very mysteriously. More than usual. Ness ran into the bathroom so no one would see it. He opened a stall and went in it. The tiny, red and white ball glowed so much, the light filled up the stall.

" Whoa." He spoke to himself. It must have been the ball that suddenly made him feel better.

"Amazing," He jittered. As he walked out of the stall, he found many people staring at him. He knew what they were thinking. He held out the glowing ball and everyone suddenly was relieved and continued on to their business. Ness walked out of the hospital and continued on the road to Twoson.

Chapter 2: Terror in Twoson

Everyone ran in panic as the houses and building toppled over in tremendous force. Paula ran for cover under a bunch of rubble. It was obvious the robot was after her. The clouds were red, due to all the fire that was amidst. People called police and ambulances. All ambulances were destroyed and policemen could do nothing. Their bullets only bounced off of the Spinning Robot. This wasn’t any Spinning Robot. It was gold plated and about 10 feet high. Enormous lasers shot out from its small, skinny head. On the ground, bodies of harmless civilians lay. Paula’s psychic powers were way too weak for this. She hadn’t really used them as much as Ness, thus lowering her experience with them and making them weak. Twoson was more peaceful than Onnet. Until the giant robot came from out of the cave, leaving nothing but rubble in its path. Paula could use her powers to revive everyone, but that takes time, and she would certainly be destroyed. So she lay under the rubble. The Giant Spinning Robot lifted the huge slab of what used to be a wall from which Paula was hiding under. She got up and ran, dodging all the lasers that pass by her. She tripped and fell. She had twisted her ankle and couldn’t get up. Paula crawled, although futile, away from the speeding robot. It charged it lasers and fired them at her. It came an inch in front of her face when a bright flash of light made her disappear. The robot stood confused. Paula was now behind the robot. She sat, amazed and dazzled at what happened. She peered around then looked behind her. There stood Ness, looking at her. He glowed blue and soon, Paula felt refreshed and her ankle didn’t hurt anymore.

"No time to talk, let’s get rid of this thing." Ness stated. Paula stood up beside Ness. The boy in the red cap closed his eyes and focused on the robot. Paula focused too. The 2 faintly glowed yellow and sparks shot out every now and then. The robot turned around and spotted them. It charged up its laser and fired it. Ness and Paula at the same time let out a yell and a huge bolt flew toward the Giant Spinning Robot. The 2 beams collided and soon, the laser was retracting even though the robot was using full power. It slowly pushed the beam back in. The robot didn’t know what to do. It tried harder, but so did Ness and Paula. Soon, the Giant Spinning Robot exploded into a thousand pieces and shards. The 2 walked around Twoson, looking at all the people. Ness used his Psy Healing Omega on them, making everyone living again.

"So what brings you here again Ness?" Paula asked.

"You. I have to find Jeff and Poo as well." Ness answered.

"Party?" Paula asked again.

"Just saving the world again." Ness replied.

"Oh. Does this have to do with those strange events that have been going on lately?"

"Yes. It is what is called a Chronological Displacement, or a Chrono Wave, which has altered the course of history. I’ll explain along the way."

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. I didn’t agree to help you on this adventure, Ness." Ness stared at her in disbelief. "But, I’ll agree anyway." Paula stated. Ness was relieved. They now had to travel through the cave east of Twoson.

Chapter 3: Winters: The Ultimate Summer Getaway!?

As Jeff walked through the Boarding School’s halls, he knew something was wrong. The snow has started to melt, leaving them with only 30 cm of it, and the lake is warm enough to swim in. His dad hadn’t talked to him for a while. Jeff had tried to contact him lately but no answer. He dared not go outside. Once he got back 2 years ago, he tried to explain to everyone his adventure. No one, except his friend, believed him. After that, the teachers forbid him to leave the gates, due to him running away again.

"Hey Jeff, whatcha doin’?" Tony asked, startling Jeff.

"Walking the halls, mindlessly, thinking of a possible explanation for why all this is happening." He replied.

"It could be global warming."
"No, the government has cut production and usage of vehicles by 67% a year ago, and even if so, I don’t think it would be freezing cold one day, then suddenly melt 3 inches of snow the next."

"Yeah, well, check this out. I cut it out from Winter’s new newspaper, the Winter Times." Jeff grabbed the slip of paper from Tony. It read, Winters: The Ultimate Summer Getaway. Jeff peered up from the piece of paper.

"Hmm. odd."

"I know, well, I’m going outside. See ya later!" Tony said as he left the building, thus leaving Jeff standing in the long corridors. He thought to himself. It would be kinda useless phoning Ness or Paula and just as pointless E-Mailing them.

‘Their probably fighting bad guy’s and finding cool things and things I can fix and using their Psychic powers to beat up ruffians... why do they get all the fun.’ Jeff thought to himself.
