STORY =============================================================================== From the Instruction Manual: CALLING EARTH Imagine the earth as you know it changing overnight into an alien planet where people are not what they seen to be, and where familiar places suddenly become foreign. That is exactly the situation that Ness finds himself in when the is awakened by a thunderous crash that rocks his house violently. THE MIDNIGHT MYSTERY Nestled in his cozy bed at his home in the small town of Onett, Ness is lost in dreams of cookies and brightly wrapped birthday presents when, suddenly, a violent crash breaks the peaceful silence of the night. Sitting bolt upright in bed, he rubs his eyes, then rushes downstairs to find out what could have caused the tremendous tremor that ripped him from sleep. Also alarmed, his mother is already downstairs. Ness is eager to investigate, and his mother reluctantly allows him to leave, but only after he changes out of his pajamas. Once outside, Ness finds his small town all abuzz over a meteor that has crashed to earth just a short distance from town. The police have constructed roadblocks at all entrances to the town, and no one is allowed to come or go. When he tries to get close to the crash site, he finds it, too, blocked by policemen who tell him to go home and go back to bed. Near the scene, he also runs into his bothersome neighbor, Pokey, who is pestering the police. After talking to everyone, including one man who claimed to be the first person on the scene, Ness returns home to report his findings to his mother, then he goes back to bed. Just as he drifts back off to sleep, though, someone pounds on the door. He opens it to find a distraught Pokey on the doorstep. It seems that while Pokey was hanging around the crash site, his younger brother, Picky, disappeared. Because Pokey was supposed to be taking care of Picky, Pokey knows that he's in big trouble if he doesn't find his brother and take him home before his parents return. He begs for Ness's help. Ness agrees to return to the crash site in the meadow near town. He sets out with his dog, King, and Pokey. At this time of night, with the police busy in town, monsters are lurking in the shadows. The boys fend them off with King's help, and when they reach the meteor, sure enough, they find Picky. They plan to high-tail it home, but before they can leave the area, an eerie column of light pierces the dark sky just above the meteor, and they hear a peculiar buzzing voice address them. Buzz Buzz, the bee-like creature behind the voice, tells them that he has come from ten years in the future, to be exact. He tells of devastation at the hands of Giygas, the universal cosmic destroyer. He says that the people in the time and place he comes from tell a legend that says, "When the chosen boy reaches the point, he will find the light. The passing of time will shatter the nightmare rock and will reveal the path of light." Buzz Buzz believes that Ness is the chosen boy, and that the meteor portends that Giygas's evil plan has been set in motion on earth. He believes that if Ness begins to counter Giygas immediately, he might have time to save the earth from devastation. The legend also says that three boys and a girl defeat Giygas. He advises Ness that three things are of utmost importance: wisdom, courage, and friendship. Buzz Buzz joins them as they head home, and it's a good thing, too. On the way, they're attacked by Star Man Jr., one of Giygas's henchmen. Buzz Buzz protects the boys using a psychic shield during the ensuing battle. When they defeat Junior, Buzz Buzz warns them that they'll be facing not only soldiers sent by Giygas, but also humans and animals that have been possessed by Giygas's evil forces. When they reach Pokey and Picky's house, their parents are already home, and the two boys are in big trouble. They're sent to their room, leaving Ness and Buzz Buzz to deal with the angry parents. Buzz Buzz isn't around for long, though -- Pokey's mother mistakes him for a dung beetle and promptly grounds him with a fly swatter. In his waning moments, Buzz Buzz gives Ness some final advice. He whispers, "To defeat Giygas, your own power must unite with the earth's. The earth will then channel your power and multiply it." He tells Ness of eight points, or sanctuaries, that he must visit. And with his dying breath, Buzz Buzz gives Ness the Sound Stone, a sacred stone that records the songs of the sanctuaries. Now Ness must pursue the adventure on his own, and following the advice of Buzz Buzz, he sets out for the city of Onett and the legendary sanctuary known as Giant Step. =============================================================================== 2. CHARACTERS =============================================================================== Also from the manual. NESS: Unlikely Protector of the Earth He is a normal kid living in Onett, a town in Eagleland. Once the meteorite lands, however, everything changes. An alien believes him to be a very special human -- one with the power to affect cosmic events. Ness has a good balance of speed, IQ, offensive power and mysterious psychic abilities. His psychic (PSI) powers include healing abilities that he can use on himself and his friends. His preferred weapon is some type of baseball bat, and he loves to wear a special baseball cap with his favorite team's logo on the front. PAULA: Possessor of Psychic Powers She is the first friend that Ness meets on his adventure. She comes from Twoson, where her mother runs a preschool out of the family home. All the children at the preschool love her! Though she looks like your average sweetie pie, she has powerful Psychic abilities that help make the group a force to be reckoned with. Television reporters have reported on her powers. Her Psychic abilities are great for offensive attacks. When she needs a weapon, she prefers a frying pan. Her girlish charm also acts as some type of defense against attacks. JEFF: Mechanical Genius of the Team Winters is home to the son of a famous scientist. He is the same age as Ness, so they naturally have a lot to talk about. Jeff's own scientific knowledge is tremendous, and he can use machines and gadgets that none of the other three friends have any idea to use. Jeff is especially good at repairing broken devices. Winters is an island country, so meeting up with the group becomes a major undertaking. Jeff doesn't have any Psychic abilities, but his mechanical skills make up for it. Weapons that he has repaired can be used by only him. POO: Mysterious Prince from the East The prince is from the country of Dalaam, an eastern country that is very mysterious to most people living in Eagleland. He is a little older than Ness, and he has great physical, mental, and spiritual strength. He seems very popular with the girls, as well. Though he has all of these tremendous attributes, he remains modest and loyal. He commands strong Psychic abilities that only he can use. His weapons and protections are mostly unknown because of his mysterious background. Now, if he could only get used to western-style food... =============================================================================== 3. OVERVIEW =============================================================================== Basically, this section contains odds and ends about the game, how to play it, tips, and the like. This information was all gathered and compiled from excerpts of the Instruction Manual, packaged with the game. The reason why it is here is to get you familiar with the game, and it's mechanics prior to playing. If you are new to this game, you are advised to look through this section, if not, you may proceed directly to any other section you are interested in. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Controller Configuration ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Basic game control in EarthBound utilizes the Control Pad, the A Button, and the B Button. The Control Pad is used for moving a character or cursor, the A Button is used for selecting an option, and the B Button is used to cancel. Each of the buttons on the controller has at least one use, except for the Y Button, which has no function in the game. Control Pad The Control Pad is used to move your character or characters while on the main screen. When controlling a group of two or more, the Control Pad moves the lead character and all others in the group will follow. The Control Pad is also used to move a cursor through a list of actions you can take, options presented to you, or items that are being held. SELECT The Select Button has the same use as the B Button. It can be used in place of the B Button when you wish to use the one-handed option of controlling the game. START The Start Button will start the game from the title screen. This is the only use that the button has in EarthBound. L Button The L Button can be used to "check" your surroundings or "talk to" someone. It also allows you to control the game with your left hand only. By pressing Select, the HP and PP window appears. If you then press the L Button, the Command Window appears. Pressing Select again clears the screen. R Button The R Button has only one function in the game. When riding a bicycle, pressing the R Button will ring the bell. Give it a try! You'll almost feel the breeze blowing through your hair. X Button You can view the town map, once you have it, by pressing the X Button. Pressing the X Button again closes the map. A Button The A Button is used to register a selection that you have made from a list of options or items. The A Button is also used to open the Command Window. B Button The B Button is used to cancel a selection and return to the previous screen. While moving on the main screen, pressing the B Button brings up the HP and PP window. This allows the player to view current Hit Points (HP) and Psychic Points (PP) for the main character or for the group. Pressing the B Button again clears the screen of the HP and PP window. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Starting the Game ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You should now be ready to start your adventure in the world of EarthBound. Your adventure will be a long one, so you will be creating a game file in which to save your progress. When you start a new game, you have the chance to name the four friends that make up the group. It's always more fun to play a game with characters named after you and your friends. Give it a try! After completing the game Set Up, you are asked to name the four friends that battle Giygas in EarthBound. By naming the characters yourself, EarthBound feels more realistic, and it's easier to imagine yourself wandering through the strange locations and meeting the even stranger inhabitants of the world of EarthBound. You have five spaces to use when naming your characters. To select a letter, move the cursor to that letter and press the A Button. It will appear in the box in the top-left corner of the screen. If you make a mistake, you can either use the B Button to erase the mistake, or you can select "Backspace" on the Name Entry screen. Once a name is complete, select "OK" on the Name Entry screen and press the A Button. This opens the next Name window. After the four friends, you are also asked to name your dog, your favorite food, and your favorite thing. Unfortunately, you only get six spaces for naming your dog, food, and thing. Finally, after you have completed all of the names, you have the chance to verify that they are correct. If there is a problem, you can select "Nope" at the bottom of the screen or press the B Button, and the Name Entry screens start over again. If you prefer, there are a number of default names and items that you can choose from as well. On the Name Entry screen, select "Don't Care," and a name or item is automatically selected for you. If you do not like the selected name or item, press the A Button to cycle through the default names and items. Once you find one that you like, move the cursor to "OK" and press the A Button. You can mix and match your names and items, too. Some you may want to enter yourself, while with others you may want to use a default name or item. Below is a list of all the default names and items: Boy Girl Genius Prince Dog Food Fave Thing Ness Paula Jeff Poo King Steak Rockin Alec Nancy Dan Kato Peach Pie Hammer Roger Skye Henry Kai Sparky Pasta Love Will Paige Isaac Omar Rex Cake Gifts Brian Marie Ralph Ramin Baby Eggs Slime Tyler Holly Sean Aziz Rover Bread Gaming Lane Jane Rob Lado Misty Salmon Boxing Opening Screens Once you have turned the Power ON, you will see the title screens and the game demonstration screen. At anytime during the demonstration, you may press either the Start Button, the A Button, or the B Button to progress to the Game File window. Game File Selection After exiting the demonstration screen, the Game File window displays three separate files. Your progress in the game is saved in the file that you select. The first time the game pak is played, all of the files are titled "Start New Game." Selecting one of the files opens the next window. If you are continuing a previous game, select the proper file, and a window opens allowing you to: continue your game, copy the file to another file, delete the file, or change the file set up. File Set Up Selection Once the game file has been selected, the Text Speed window opens. This window allows you to select how fast the game text will scroll. You can select either Fast, Medium, or Slow. The speed can be changed at any time by opening an existing game file and selecting Set Up. After text speed, the Sound Setting window opens. You may select Stereo or Mono sound. Again, this can be changed later using the same method as changing the text speed. If you can play the game in stereo: If your Super Nintendo Entertainment System is hooked up to a stereo television, or your television is connected to a stereo, you can take advantage of the stereo sound effects in EarthBound by selecting "Stereo." If you can't play the game in stereo: If your Super Nintendo Entertainment System is not hooked up to play stereo, you should select "Mono" to be sure you hear all of the sound effects. If you select "Stereo," you'll miss some sounds. Saving Your Adventure After you have selected the game file where your progress will be saved and established the game set up, you are given the chance to name the four main characters that appear in the game. You also name your dog, enter your favorite homemade dish and key in your favorite thing. Once all the necessary information has been registered and verified by you, the file where your save information is stored is then established. During the game, you have the chance to save your progress when you speak to your father via telephone. Once You've Saved As mentioned earlier, you continue a saved game by selecting the proper file in the Game File window, then selecting "Continue." You continue your game from the last point at which you saved the game. Should you want a back-up file, you can select "Copy" and create a duplicate file. If you select "Delete," the file is completely erased, and all of the information is permanently lost. Be careful with the "Delete" command. Also, as indicated, the text speed and the sound setting can be changed by selecting "Set Up." Your EarthBound game information is saved by the built-in battery in the EarthBound game pak. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gameplay Screen/Window ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In EarthBound, you open windows to gain information about yourself and others around you. When there is no open window on screen, press the B Button to view your current HP, PP, and cash on hand. Command Window By pressing the A Button, the Command Window is displayed. Five or six commands are displayed, depending on your ability to use Psychic power. Talk to When next to a person, select "Talk to" in order to communicate. If you are next to a phone, it also picks up the receiver. PSI Selecting PSI gives you a chance to use some of your PSI powers. If you have not yet realized any of your PSI powers, or no one is present that uses PSI, this option does not appear in the Command Window. Check This command allows you to check the surrounding area. It is especially useful when you find a gift box, chest, or coffin. By checking these containers, you gain many useful items. When going to the ATM, you also use the Check command to activate the ATM. Goods This command allows you to look at all of your items. By selecting "Goods," you view the items that you are carrying. By pressing left and right on the control pad, you are able to cycle through the characters in your party. You can then select items and Use, Give, Drop, or get Help! about them. Equip This command is very important. In order to fight effectively, you must make sure that your strongest items are properly equipped, or in use. This command allows you to change what is being worn or held by your characters. If you buy something at a store, you can equip it right then. Status This command allows you to view the health and attributes of your characters. There are a number of categories displayed on the status screen. Pressing left and right on your control pad allows you to look at the status of all your characters. Level Your current level as determined by how much Experience Points you have acquired. Condition [below Level:] If you're ailing somehow, it is indicated here. Hit Points/Psychic Points Displays current levels as well as maximum levels. Experience Points The number of Experience Points currently earned. Next Level The number of Experience Points needed to reach the next level. Offense Displays offensive power using the currently equipped weapon. Defense Displays defensive power using the currently equipped items. Speed Displays current speed level, which is important in escaping. Guts Displays the guts level, affecting your frequency of SMAAASH attacks. Vitality Displays vitality, affecting how fast your max HP increases. IQ Displays IQ, affecting how fast your max PP increases Luck Displays Luck, which affects whether or not an attack on you misses. From the Status screen, you can also view the PSI powers that a character possesses by pressing the A Button. You can view Offense, Recover, Assist, and Other types of PSI powers. Press the B Button to exit the PSI screen. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battle Screen/Window ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After you encounter an enemy, the Battle Screen appears. The enemy is in front of you, possibly in two separate rows if enough enemies are present. Two windows also appear, your HP and PP window and the Battle Command Window. Your condition is constantly indicated by the HP and PP window at the bottom of the screen. Command Window The Battle Command Window is different for each character in the game. Use the Control Pad to move the cursor to the desired action and then press the A Button. Select the target of the attack, if applicable, and press the A Button again. To cancel a selected action, press the B Button. Ness (The Hero) Ness has a number of options to choose from as he is the leader of the group of friends. He is offensively well balanced, with strong physical as well as psychic attacks. Be sure to equip the strongest bat possible. A bat is Ness's weapon of choice. Bash Bash deals damage to the enemy by use of a physical attack. A strong weapon results in greater damage done. PSI Allows you to select a PSI attack, recover, or assist power. Be sure to watch your PP level! Goods Allows you to select an item and use it on the enemy. Some goods are very effective weapons, others aren't. Defend Places you in a defensive position, which can minimize the damage that gets dealt to you. Auto Fight The computer selects a course of action for you. To cancel Auto Fight, press the B Button Run Away As it sounds, this is your shot at running away from a battle. Sometimes you succeed, sometimes you don't. Paula (First Friend) For the most part, Paula's battle commands are similar to Ness's, with a single notable exception, the Pray command. If Ness is knocked unconscious, Paula also has the chance to select the Auto Fight and Run Away commands. Pray This command is very mysterious, and the effects can vary widely. Though potentially helpful, be careful! Jeff (Second Friend) Jeff is not able to employ any psychic abilities, but he makes up for it by being able to fashion great weapons out of broken items. Though he is not a very strong fighter, Jeff is indispensable to the success of the group. Spy A very special ability that allows Jeff to size up the enemy and report all weaknesses to you. Goods As mentioned, there are special weapons that only Jeff is able to use. Look for broken gadgets he can fix! Poo Prince Poo is a mystical fighter who has been trained in ancient martial arts. This makes him a very powerful fighter, and a big bonus when he finally joins the group. He employs the special ability to mirror that is awesome, to say the least! Mirror This special ability allows the prince to assume the shape of one of the attackers. The effect is temporary. Rolling Hit Points One special feature of EarthBound is the Hit Point meter that decreases gradually. If you receive damage that will force you to lose consciousness, try to completely defeat the enemy before your HP meter reaches zero. If you do so, you can stop yourself from going unconscious. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- How to Fight ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In EarthBound, your travels will take you to many unusual and hostile places -- even your own hometown! There is a wide variety of monsters as well as normal people that you must battle. Many regular animals and people have become violent because of the influence of Giygas over the evil in their minds. Monsters and evil citizens can be seen wandering around while on the main game screen. If a person is under an evil influence, their face will appear to be blue. Animals lurk everywhere and try to ambush you as you explore an area. Worst of all, there is a huge assortment of strange monsters that have been unleashed because of Giygas' plot for universal destruction. On the main game screen, you find enemies and others looking for a fight. They are often very fast and difficult to avoid. Try ducking behind a tree or another object to avoid a battle, though this may not work. If you decide you want to attack, or you are not able to avoid an enemy, a battle begins when you touch the enemy. Occasionally, other nearby enemies may join in on the fight, even though they were wandering around separately. Once you have encountered an enemy, you enter the battle screen. You and the enemy continue to attack until one side is totally defeated. Complete loss of HP determines when one side or the other is defeated. Once you cause all attacking enemies to lose their HP, a "You Won" message appears. When enemies are defeated, they disappear, while a person or animal becomes normal again. You then gain experience points for winning the battle. Hey! The battle swirl is a different color! As mentioned, you enter battle when you, or anyone in your group, touches an enemy. Since enemies are quite fast, it can be very difficult to avoid a battle. You should always, therefore, try to fight your battles so that you have the greatest possible advantage. This is accomplished by being aware of which way you are facing when you and an enemy touch. Face to Face If you touch an enemy from the front or side while you are facing forward or to the side, the swirl that signifies a battle will be black. This indicates that neither side has gained any special advantage, and the battle begins as normal. Most battles will occur in this manner. Your Surprise Opening Attack If you're lucky, you may be able to successfully approach an enemy from behind and force a battle before the enemy has a chance to turn around. In this case, the swirl preceding a battle might be green. You and your party will then get a free opening attack on the enemy before the regular battle begins. The Enemy's Surprise Opening Attack If you are approached by the enemy, and they attack you from behind, the swirl preceding the battle will be red. In this case, the enemy might get a free opening attack. It is very important to avoid this attack whenever possible, especially when the enemies begin to get very strong. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Before Playing ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Phone Calls It's always a good idea to call your dad to save your progress in the game. You never know when you may accidentally wind up facing a strong enemy, so saving your progress will definitely help you. In the game, black phones are free, while other phones cost one dollar. Using the ATM Your bank account holds your hard-earned cash, and your ATM card allows you to withdraw or deposit money. Find an ATM at a Drugstore, Hotel, or Department Store. Withdraw your money and buy those expensive, powerful items that you've been drooling over! Catching a Cold A cold is just one of the ailments that you may run across in the course of the game. Sometimes, you can purchase some type of treatment from a Drugstore. In the case of a cold, you may want to look for a Cold Remedy, to avoid going to the hospital. Doctor The Doctor is important because he can cure some of those nasty conditions you pick up. Nurse The Nurse is excellent at reviving someone in your group who has become unconscious. Healer The Healer can take care of conditions that the doctors can't do anything about. Look for him! The Magic Butterfly If you are lucky, you will come across the elusive Magic Butterfly from time to time. If you catch the butterfly, a sense of relaxation comes over you, and 20 PSI Points are restored to you. These butterflies have been known to inhabit caves. Delivery Services During the course of the game, you may find that you need to have something delivered to you. Escargo Express is the local delivery company, and your sister Tracy has a part-time job with them. Another delivery service is Mach Pizza, great at delivering a piping hot pizza to you, no matter where you are. Hint Stand One of the biggest helps that you can discover is the Hint Stand. The gentleman who runs the business seems to know what you've been doing, and what you need to do next. The hints may not be cheap, but they can certainly help you get out of a confusing situation. If You Miss Your Mom... Even a hero out to save the world can get homesick. After all, this is the longest you've ever been away from home! The best cure for those bouts of loneliness is the gentle voice of your understanding mom. The great thing is, she's just a phone call away... =============================================================================== 4. WALKTHROUGH =============================================================================== Below is a walkthrough, based on my gameplay experience through the game. As far as I know, all information contained from here within is accurate, but we all make mistakes. If you find an error on my part, please notify me so I can fix it. Let's begin. =============================================================================== ONETT =============================================================================== Home Town, where the game first begins. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Your House ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Weapons: Cracked Bat After viewing the cinema in the beginning of the game, you are left sleeping in bed. Soon after, you will wake up and be left to play. Head out of your room, and into the hallway. Once here, I suggest going into the room to the north (which is your sister's room) and collect the Cracked Bat from the present in the corner of the room. Exit her room and head downstairs where you will find your mother walking around. Talk to her and she will say she prefers you not go out and see what happened, but you'd just sneak out of your room anyway. She then orders you to get dressed before going outside. The scene is then taken back to your room, where you will automatically get dressed. Leave your room, go back downstairs and out the front door. To the south, you will find 2 paths, one blocked off by the police, and one leading to the hilltop, where the meteor crashed. To the west is the house of Picky and Pokey. Head there first. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pickey & Pokey's House ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the outside of Pickey and Pokey's house, you will find a kid standing by the mailbox. Talking to him reveals that he wants to be the first one to see the meteorite. Head into their house, where Pickey is standing. Talk to him and he will exclaim that Pokey (his brother) told him to stay in the house while he goes to see the meteorite. If you wish, you can go upstairs to explore their house (which is strangely similar to yours in a way), other than that, there is nothing more to do, so exit. Now that you're finished exploring, it's time to set out what you intended to do, visit the hilltop. You can find the hilltop after going through a winding path south. Once you exit Pickey and Pokey's house, go south and take the path to the left, as it's the only accessible way to go. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Outside Onett ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Food: Bread Roll Follow the path as it leads you in it's northwest direction. On the way, you will encounter several police officers who will tell you random things. Some tell you to go back home, while others are confused and hate their jobs. Just ignore them, and continue along the path. You will find a present near the hilltop which contains a bread roll, so be sure to pick that up. Make your way up to the outskirts of the hilltop where you will find a road block and some police officers. Talk to them all you want, it's not going to get you through. Talk to Pokey who is also here, he will tell you to go home and he'll come and get you in the morning. For now, you cannot do anything else here, so head back along the path to your house. Your mother will be waiting outside, talk to her and she will say it's late and you can talk about everything in the morning, she then asks if you will go back to bed, say Yes, and time will pass, later that night, you are left to play again inside your house with your pajamas on. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Your House (Revisit) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Food: Cookie Items: $30 Leave your room, and talk to you sister in the hallway, she will tell you that someone is knocking on the door. Go downstairs and talk to your mother, if you wish, then go to the front door. It's Pokey, he's a bit early. He informs you that the police officers have left the hilltop to deal with the nearby sharks, and then he exclaims that Pickey is missing. He asks if you will help him find Pickey, agree and he will join your party. Talk to your mother and she will tell you to change back into your clothes, you will do so, then head back downstairs, and talk to your mother once again. She will give you a cookie and offer to take anything you want to drop off. Head towards the front door. The telephone will begin to ring, and Pokey tells you to answer it. It's your father. He will give you $30, and offer to save your game. Once he hangs up, call him again to save your game. Then head out to start your quest. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Outside Onett (Revisit) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You will now notice that there are random enemies roaming around Onett, such as the Coil Snake. When you encounter battles, the only tips I have for you are not to run, and use Auto Battle for an easier fight. After 1 or 2 fights, you will gain a level (Level 2.) Follow the left path once again, and make your way back up to the hilltop. Along the way, you will confront several enemies, just use Auto Battle (if you wish) to defeat them. Once you get to the hilltop, you will find Pickey asleep next to the glowing meteorite. Talk to him and he will wake up and advise that he and Pokey go back home. As you are leaving, Pokey will ask you if you hear a buzzing noise. Say yes, and you will see a glowing light pop out of the meteorite, and a being will come out. This is Buzz Buzz. He will inform you that he is from 10 years in the future and lives in the Giygas world. After some warnings, he will join your party, for the time being. Follow the path back to Pickey and Pokey's house. Along the way, Starman Jr. (also from the Giygas world) will confront you and do battle with you. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BOSS: Starman Jr. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 200 HP This is one of the easiest battles ever, you won't be harmed, you won't lose any HP, in fact, you won't even have to attack that much. I advise setting it to Auto Battle, and Buzz Buzz will use a PSI Shield on all of you, then he will do some massive attacks on Starman Jr. (some taking off 126 HP!) Starman Jr. will attempt to use some attacks, but they all fail due to your shield, after a while, he will be defeated and you can continue on to Pickey and Pokey's house, just down the path. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pickey & Pokey's House (Revisit) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items: Sound Stone Talk to Pickey and Pokey's dad, and he will take the boys up to their room, time goes by and he returns by himself. Talking to him reveals he is a very rude man. He says he hates living next door to you because he gave your father a loan, and now he's living in poverty. A bit after, the mother will swat and kill Buzz Buzz, but if you talk to him while he's on the floor, he will give you the Sound Stone before he dies. If you wish, you can visit the boys upstairs to find out they will have no desert for a decade. Leave the house when you're done and back into Onett. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Downtown Onett ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Food: Cookie, Bread Roll, Hamburger Items: Entertainment Shack Key, Map Bosses: Frank Fly, Frankystein Mark II Armor: Baseball Cap Okay, there is a lot to do here now. If you are not yet to Level 5, you must fight random enemies in the grassy areas, such as Coil Snakes, Rabid Dogs, Birds, etc. It may take a while, but you'll need to be at Level 5 before you proceed any further. Once you're at Level 5, take the right path south and away from the "Outside" area. (This path was once closed off before) It will lead you to the downtown area of Onett, where all the shops, etc. are located. First let me go through all the shops, and other buildings here. The hotel is run by a man who strangely looks like George Jefferson. Anyway, the rates are pretty high ($35) but you get a lot of money each time you defeat an enemy. Talk to the George Jefferson look-a-like to stay and heal yourself for the $35 when you need it. There is an ATM in the room labeled "ATM." If you go in the 2nd area of the Hotel, you will find the rooms. There are bellhops in front and back of the hotel if you need service. The Drugstore is where you can buy your useful armor and weapons, as well as sell any unwanted items. I suggest you sell ALL of the Cookies you get to the Drugstore as well as Bread Rolls (they don't recover much HP, plus you can get a bit of money for them.) Save your hamburgers, though, they can help you a lot when you need it. You _must_ buy the most powerful items from the Drugstore before leaving Onett. So save up enough money to get the Cheap Bracelet, as well as the Tee Ball Bat and Tee Ball Cap. Sell your cracked bat once you buy the Tell Ball Bat. You can find a Baseball Cap (free) in the hideout area. Sell that when you decide to buy the Tee Ball Cap. Next to the drugstore, there is a trash can, by looking inside, you will gain a free hamburger. You can purchase hamburgers and other healing food items from the Burger Shop or the Bakery, or even the Pizza Shop. The Arcade is far south of Downtown Onett, and in the back of the Arcade is Frank, the gang leader who you will be fighting later. There is also a Hospital, which you can learn more about from the Secretary inside. The library loans out free maps, so be sure to pick one up. City hall is where the mayor is located, you'll be paying him a visit later on in the game. There are several other smaller houses and buildings (such as the Hint House) which you can learn about on your own. For now, you need to head south and fight the Shark members (they are dressed in black.) Before facing off against Frank, you must fight the shark members to get to Level 7. This will take you a while if you try and fight the small enemies. If you need to heal, go to the Hotel or all the way back to your house if you don't want to pay. Once you get to Level 7, head into the Arcade where you will find more Shark Members, to avoid them, just don't talk to them. One is blocking the door that leads to the back, so you'll have to fight him. Go through the door and into the back where you will find Frank and his "Frankystein Mark II" machine. Time for a fight. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BOSS: Frank Fly & Frankystein Mark II ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Frank Fly: 63 HP Frankystein Mark II: 91 Frank isn't as tough as he looks. Bash him a few times, and use some of your PSI powers to heal/defeat him. Once he loses all of his HP, he will send his Frankystien Mark II robot after you. This thing is even easier. Use the same method on him, and when you defeat him, he will be destroyed. Frank then gives you some information regarding Twoson and the Entertainment Shack. He tells you to visit the mayor to get the key to the shack. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Downtown Onett (Continued from Above) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now that Frank is out of the way, and you've made him change his ways. Head out of the Arcade and up to City Hall. Talking to some of the people in here reveals that the Mayor doesn't treat them very well. Head upstairs where the mayor is sitting at his desk. He will give you the key to the Entertainment Shack, but he makes you say that he has no responsibility in it if something goes wrong. Say yes, and leave for the shack. Use the key on the shack, then talk to one of the bums outside. He will give you a Traveler's Charm. Then go through the shack and into the tunnel on the other side. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tunnel ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Food: Skip Sandwich, Hamburger, Cookie Bosses: Titanic Ant There are 2 sets of tunnels which lead to Giant Step (where you are headed.) In the first tunnel, you will encounter some Rowdy Mice and Slugs. The mice often come in packs of 1, and give you about 34 EXP. after you defeat one. The slugs travel in packs of 4 (most of the time) and you will have to fight all 4 of them. You will gain about 108 EXP. once you defeat all of them. If you don't wish to fight, try to avoid them as best as possible. Go into the cave opening near the rope to find a present with the Skip Sandwich. Climb up the rope to the 2nd level, there is another cave opening up here, go in if you wish. Climb up another rope to the 3rd level. Fight the enemies here and make your way to the exit. You will then be outside above Onett. There is a Magic Butterfly to the left, so use it to recover any lost PP. Once ready, go into the next cave opening to the left which leads into the 2nd tunnel. You will be fighting the same enemies here, only you'll fight some ants as well. Make your way through this cave the same way you did the other one, and you will come to 2 long ropes leading up to Titanic Ant. There will be a spinning star like thing blocking the exit to Giant Step, this is Titanic Ant. Talk to him and the fight will begin. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BOSS: Titanic Ant (1st Sanctuary Location) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 235 HP He isn't alone, in fact he has 2 smaller ants with him. I STRONGLY suggest you use your PSI Rockin on him at least 2 times, the first time will kill off the smaller ants, and will do some major damage to Titanic Ant himself. If you need to, use your PSI Lifeup to heal. If you have any PP left, use PSI Rockin on him again. When you can't do any more PSI, use basic attacks on him. Soon enough he will die and you will gain 700+ EXP! Once you defeat him, you should at least be at Level 10 if not 11. Exit through the cave and you will see Giant Step. The melody for the First Sanctuary will be recorded on your Sound Stone and your HP and PP will be fully replenished. You will now have to go back through the tunnels to Onett. I know, you may be thinking you have to go through those darn tunnels and fight those enemies again, but now that you're so strong, ALL the enemies will run away from you when you see them! (Including the mice.) The enemies in Onett will also run from you, so only fight them if you want to. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Downtown Onett (Revisit) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Right when you're back in Onett, a police officer will confront you and ask why you entered when the sign said not to. He will then tell you to report to the police station. Head to the hotel and save/recover (if needed) and head over to the Police Station. Talking to the first guy will engage in a long boring conversation, so talk to the 2nd one and he will take you into the back room, where 5 of his toughest officers are waiting. He says that if you want to go to Twoson, you will have to beat his 5 guys. They will confront you one by one, getting harder as you go. Once you defeat the 4th one, the 5th will be too frightened to fight you and run away. Captain Strong will then fight you himself. He's pretty easy, since he mainly just guards. Use PSI Rockin on him a few times, then bash until he's defeated. Once you defeat him, he'll radio his men down by the road block to let you go through to Twoson when you get there. Before departing to Twoson, head back to the hotel and rest up. During your rest, Paula will contact you in a dream. Save your game, and head out. If you need some burgers, head to the Burger Shop, otherwise go south and past the 2 cops and straight into Twoson. =============================================================================== TWOSON =============================================================================== Got it's name because it wasn't first. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Downtown Twoson ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items: Receiver Phone, Bicycle Save if you wish at the Hotel, then do some exploring. Next door to the hotel is a Bike Shop, talk to the owner and he will give you a free bike. Once you see all the cool places Twoson has, head over to Apple Kid's house. He and Orange Kid are both inventors and want you to invest in their work. While Orange kid may look to be more trustworthy, he's not. Invest in Apple Kid, and talk to his Mouse on your way out to get the Receiver Phone. Now, head east, to get to Peace Valley. Peace Valley is to the far easy, near the Polestar school, enter the cave in front of it which leads to the valley itself. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Peaceful Valley ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You must first go through 2 cave like areas to get to Peaceful Valley, so go through them. One is short, and one is long and sometimes there will be random enemies in each one (Mushrooms and Plants.) If, by chance, you run into a mushroom and it spreads some seeds on you, a mushroom will grow on your head, causing you to walk funny. Once you get to Peaceful Valley, there is a girl willing to buy the mushroom off your head for $50, so sell it if you have one. Now, it's time to head to Happy Happy Village, only one problem, the bridge has been cut. There is an alternative to getting there, but the path is blocked off by a large Iron Pencil. Check out the pencil, then leave back through the 2 caves and into Downtown Twoson. Right when you exit the cave, press A and you will hear Apple Kid telling you to meet him in Burglin Park so he can give you something. So now it's back to the park. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Burglin Park ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items: Pencil-Eraser Make your way through Downtown Twoson into the park. There are several merchants here, trying to sell their items. By talking to some of them reveals that a scary robber/kidnapper is around. Ignore that for now, and head to the southwest area of the park where you will find Apple Kid standing under some trees. Talk to him and he will hand over his latest invention, which happens to be a Pencil-Eraser! Now you can head back to Peaceful Valley and erase the Iron Pencil blocking your path into Happy Happy Village! Go to the far east of town once again and into the 2 caves, fighting any enemies inside. You will finally make it back to Peaceful Village, where you will head north once again, and use the Pencil-Eraser on the Iron Pencil, and viola! It disappears right before your eyes. Before crossing the bridge, head north to get your picture taken again by the "Photograph Genius." Then cross the bridge leading into Happy Happy Village. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Happy Happy Village (Part 1) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Food: Croissant, Skip Sandwich Items: Luck Capsule There are some newer enemies here, so be cautious, especially of the Oak trees that move around, they are very tough to beat and when you do beat them, they take off a massive chunk of HP from your meter. Anyway, follow the path up onto the hills, you will find some food and an Luck Capsule in the boxes lying around. Head southwest, and talk to the man near the broken bridge, he complains about it, nothing major. Continue south, then head east. You will soon come to another bridge to cross, which leads into the next area of Happy Happy Village. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Happy Happy Village (Part 2) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items: Franklin Badge Weapons: Sand Lot Bat Armor: Copper Bracelet, Holmes Hat Food: Cookie, Croissant Welcome to the REAL part of Happy Happy Village. The part where everyone supports Happy Happyism and worships the color blue. There are quite a few buildings here, and a bunch of caves as well. Most of the buildings just lead to houses with townspeople inside. You can find a guy who will let you rest in his house for $50 (in place of the hotel.) The Drugstore is near the north of town, along with some cave entrances. There is also one house full of blue people. You will be visiting this later, so just ignore it for now. Talking to the person inside the little fence near the southwest part of town reveals that Paula was kidnapped and locked up in a cabin up north. Make sure you buy the Copper Bracelet, Holmes Hat, and the Sand Lot Bat from the Drugstore before leaving. Save your game, then head out through the north cave. Walk through it and it will lead you into the chasm where Paula is locked up. Talk to her and she will cough over the Franklin Badge which protects against lightning. You will need this to defeat Mr. Carpainter. Head back out of the house, where you will meet up with Pokey. He talks to you and tells you that he's joined the cult! That traitor! He then sicks 3 of his buddies after you for a battle. It's not very tough, just 2 Insane Blue guys and their cohort. Use PSI Rockin on them then bash the rest of the battle. Pokey will run like the coward he is, then you are left to go back to Happy Happy Village (main area.) Once back in town, head down to the barn where you can rest for $50 (If you don't have the money, withdraw it from the Drugstore on your way out.) Once you've rested (you'll need it) go back up to the Drugstore and save your game. Head out again (making sure you have all the latest weapons/armor) and go into the large house with the blue guys inside. You will have to get through all of them, but it's rather easy if you know the correct path to take. You'll have to figure out the maze for yourself, but I can tell you that if you take the correct path, you will only have to fight 1 blue guy. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BOSS: Mr. Carpainter ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 262 HP Once you escape the maze, go through the door where you'll find a man sitting at a desk, ignore him and take the stairs up to Mr. Carpainter, talk to him and he will try using lightning on you, but the Franklin Badge reflects it. The battle then engages. This is a rather simple battle, for the sole reason that when Carpainter uses lightning for his attack, the badge reflects it back onto him and does damage to his HP meter. Use some PSI followed by bashes, and lightning reflections to defeat him. He will apologize and turn the town back into normal, while at the same time give you the key to the cabin where Paula is locked up. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Happy Happy Village (Part 2) (Continued) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Go back downstairs and into the house, only to find all the blue guys are now gone, 2 remain. If you didn't get the presents in the maze when you first came in, you can get them now (nothing special, just food items.) Leave the house, and Pokey will apologize wanting to "be friends again." He will then leave when you refuse and then say "Hah!! I was just kidding!" then runs off. Head north, save your game, and enter the cave leading to Paula's cell. Open the cage to let her out and she will join your party. Exit the house, and go back into town. If you aren't up to at least Level 19 or 20 by now, you will have to fight some enemies that give off a lot of EXP to reach that point. Once you get to about Level 19 or 20, save your game and get ready to fight the mole. With Paula, go into the cave to the right (by the dirty kid.) There are several moles, bears, and bats in here, the bats are weakest, moles are a bit tougher, and bears are excessively tough. Make your way to the Northeast part of the cave. Paula may die on the way, but you can revive her at the hospital once/if you die. You may have to go through this cave several times before reaching the actual 2nd Sanctuary Boss at the end. I managed to get up to Level 22 before even reaching the boss, therefore defeating him was rather easy because you learn PSI Rockin Beta at Level 22. Make sure you have a lot of PP before facing him. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BOSS: Mondo Mole (2nd Sanctuary Location) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 498 HP If you are at least at Level 20, you will be able to beat Mondo Mole. If you are at Level 22, have learned PSI Rockin Beta and have a full PP meter, you can beat him in 3 shots. Use PSI Rockin Alpha or Beta on him until you are out of PP. Use some of Paula's PSI powers also, then bash until he's dead. He's very easy if you have PSI Rockin Beta, however. Once he's defeated, go through the cave into the outside area. You will see the Lilliput Steps on the ground, this is the 2nd Sanctuary. The Lilliput Steps will be recorded on your Sound Stone, then you will replenish all HP and PP. If Paula was dead before, she will now be revived will full HP and PP meters. Head back through the cave, only to find that the Bats and Moles are afraid of you now, so you will easily be able to go through the cave without worrying about battles. Once back in Twoson, save your game. Stop by the Polestar School and talk to Paula's father. Paula will now officially join your party. Upon leaving Polestar, a man from Burglin Park will tell you Everdred wants to see you in the park. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Burglin Park (Revisit) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items: $10,000 From Polestar, head west all the way back to Burglin Park. You will find Everdred on top of the roof of a house near the far west side of the park. He watches over the park to make sure no crime comes to it. Upon walking up to his house, he will confront you and say that he would recruit you, but you'd just refuse. He then gives you $10,000 (a.k.a. - Wad of Bills) saying he can't keep the money. After this episode is over, go back to the right of the hotel. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Runaway Five Show ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items: Backstage Pass Going in to the house with the bus next to it will lead you into the Runaway Five Club. Unfortunately, you cannot see the show without a ticked. Go outside, and talk to one of the members of The Runaway Five to receive a Backstage pass. Go back inside and through the door to the north to enter the club. You will find a female fan near the door of the Runaway Five, she will want to join you, agree and go through the door on the left. Once inside, you can talk to the guys if you want, then leave and the show will begin. Watch their act, then go back inside that room and talk to one of the guys who tells you their manager is looking for you. Exit the club and back into the lobby. Go through the left door into the manager's office. He tells you that the Runaway Five owe him $10,000 and will not leave until they pay up (or somebody pays for them.) Go inside his desk and show him the Wad of Bills, he will take it and let the Runaway Five leave. As a show of appreciation for your generous gift, the Runaway Five offer to take you to Threed on their hunk o' junk bus. Agree, then leave the room after each of them exits, and once outside, hop onto the bus. You will see it drive through the ghost tunnel and all the way to Threed. =============================================================================== THREED =============================================================================== Ghost/Zombie town, not a good neighborhood. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Downtown Threed ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Feel free to explore the town. You can check out the hotel, which, as usual, is overpriced. The Pizza shop will add a new number to your list. Talking to random people reveals that the town has been invaded by zombies. The hospital is near the south end of town, with the Bakery right next door. The circus is located in the center of town, but there is no show now. Once finished exploring, head to the Drugstore and purchase ALL new weapons and Armor for both Ness and Paula. You should have enough money, but if you don't, try and earn some by defeating enemies in the graveyard near the north- west part of town. Once you've gotten all the new armor/weapons, save your game, then head Northwest of town into the graveyard. Talking to the 2 zombies at the top of the graveyard will only cause them to look you over or gaze into your spirit. After a while of walking through the graveyard, you will pause. Press A and your father will contact you on the receiver phone. He tells you that you should head back to the hotel and rest. Do as you are told and go back to the hotel. You will notice a strange woman walking by the hotel, follow her inside and into the next room. She then goes into one of the hotel rooms, follow her in and you will be ganged up on by ghosts and zombies. You are then left in a cave with a door that is locked. Paula then begins to use your Telekinetic powers to contact Jeff who is currently in his dorm up in Winters. The scene then switches over to Jeff, who you will now be playing as, in Winters. =============================================================================== WINTERS =============================================================================== Small Country to the north. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dorm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items: Broken Air Gun, Bent Key, Broken Spray, Bad Key Machine Weapons: Pop Gun Armor: Holmes Hat Food: Cookies Jeff is now the main character you are playing as. Try to leave your room, and you will be confronted by Tony (your best friend) who tells you that you should get some useful items from the locker room before leaving. Tony joins your party, and you then leave the room. Go downstairs and into the left room to find Maxwell, the scientific genius. He will give you a key to the lockers next door, only it's a bent key. Go into the next room and try to open a locker with the key, only to find out it doesn't work. Take it back to Maxwell, and he will give you his latest invention, the "Bad Key Machine." Use this to open the lockers. Inside some of the lockers will be: A Pop Gun, Holmes Hat, and other random items. Collect them all, then leave the locker room. Head out through the main doors, to exit the Dorm. Tony will lie down in front of the gate, so you can use him as a step to climb over the gate. You are then left in the snow. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Outside Winters ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Food: Bubble Gum Go east from the Dorm to find the Drugstore. Inside, you will find a monkey by the door, and a girl over by the products on the shelf. Talk to the girl, and buy the pack of gum for $1. Give the monkey a piece and watch as he blows a huge bubble with it. The Bubble Monkey will then join your party. Since you only have $1 left, and you don't have an ATM card, just save your game, and exit the shop back into Outside Winters. There are only a few enemies around to begin with (Runaway Dog, Gruff Goat, Smiling Crow.) The Gruff Goats will give you some EXP, so fight them as much as possible to Level up at least to Level 5 or so. Head south into the winter. You will come to several tents, with people offering you Tea (recover HP and PP) and telephones (saves game) free of charge. You will soon find out they are waiting to see Tessie. In the last tent to the left, you will find the cook. He offers to let you rest, do so and when you exit the tent. It will become bright and snowy outside. Go over to that little dock area in the middle of all the tents and give Bubble Monkey a piece of gum. He will float in the wind and land on the head of Tessie. Jeff then climbs on Tessie's back, and they both get a lift south. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Brick Road ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items: Broken Iron Food: Croissant, Cookie, Hamburger Weapons: Stun Gun Once you land, go south a bit to fight a cave opening. The sign in front reads that you don't have to pay a fee to enter, so go inside! Welcome to Brick Road. A simplified maze like area that you must make your way through. Head through the maze, fighting the enemies and collecting the items in the presents. You don't really have to get any of them, but make sure you get the Broken Iron and definitely the Stun Gun at the end of the maze. There is also a phone at the end of the maze, so call Maxwell and save your game before exiting. Leave the cave, then talk to the guy outside who was the creator of Brick Road. He will let you heal. Head south and into the next cave opening. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tunnel ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now that you are inside, make your way left through the tunnels. There are several mushroom enemies here, so watch out for those. You will have to fight several enemies throughout the tunnels, until you eventually come to the final tunnel. Once there, you will see a rope that is inaccessible up on the ledge. Position yourself below it, and give Bubble Monkey a piece of gum so he can float up to it and let it down. Climb the rope, avoid the mushroom at the top, and exit the cave to the left. Upon exiting, Bubble Monkey will meet a girl Monkey and they leave you alone to play. You will now be at Stonehenge. There are about 3 giants here, try to avoid them if possible, as they are tough to defeat. Go all the way south, where you will find your father's laboratory. Head inside and talk to him. After some chatting, he will offer you a ride in his machine which takes you to Threed. Go ahead and save with the phone, then go down near the machine in the next room to enter it. You will fly a long ways and eventually crash inside the cave Ness and Paula are located. Use the Bad Key Machine to open the door, then go through the tunnel and exit back into Downtown Threed. =============================================================================== THREED (Revisit) =============================================================================== Ghost/Zombie town, not a good neighborhood. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Downtown Threed (Revisit) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items: Zombie Paper From here, go all the way south of Threed where there is a huge Tent. Walk up to it and it will suddenly come alive! (You may have to battle some normal enemies prior to facing the Boogie Tent, however.) During this battle, try and keep both Paula and Jeff alive as best as possible, because they really need some leveling up. If Jeff is around Level 15 or so, he should be fine. Paula should be around Level 18, since she has had more time fighting. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BOSS: Boogie Tent ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Apprx. 500 HP The Boogie Tent may seem hard at first, but he really isn't. And once you defeat him, you'll get a whopping 7,000+ EXP! Use PSI Rockin Beta on him as well as Paula's PSI Fire a few times, then bash when you feel you've done a significant amount of damage with your PSI powers. Soon enough, he will be defeated, and you're party will Level up, big time. Leave from the tent, and go north. You will be contacted on your Receiver Phone by Apple Kid who tells you about his latest invention. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Downtown Threed (Revisit)(Continued) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The new invention Apple Kid has created is called Zombie Paper. Basically, it's like Fly Paper, only it traps Zombies. To use it, you place it on the floor of a tent to attract zombies, then they all get stuck. The Mach Pizza guy will deliver it to you moments after speaking with Apple Kid, so take it. Now, go back to the center of town and place the Zombie Paper on the Circus Tent floor. Exit the tent, and go back to the hotel. Rest your party at the hotel (for some reason, the hotel's rates vary from $60 - $180.) Once you wake up, you will see a cinema of all the zombies in Threed being attracted to the Zombie Paper. Leave the hotel and go back down to the tent. Look inside to find tons of zombies squirming on the floor. That takes care of that problem. Now you can pass into the underground tunnel where those 2 zombies were before! Save your game prior to leaving and make sure all of your party members are alive and well, then head Northwest to the corner of the graveyard where you will see a ladder leading down. Take it into the underground tunnel. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Underground Tunnel ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You are now in for the battles of your life. The enemies ahead of you are severely tough, so be prepared. Make your way through the tunnels and stairs, fighting the zombies and cohorts as you come to each one. Once you make it to the end, you will have to fight a Mini-Barf, who is very difficult. He has tons of HP, and it took me forever to defeat him, he gives about 7,000 EXP once he's defeated. Climb the ladder and exit the tunnel into Saturn Valley. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Saturn Valley ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Armor: Silver Bracelet Weapons: Bionic Slingshot Finally! Back to civilization. Head north and you will see a funny potato like looking creature. This is Mr. Saturn. In fact, this whole valley is filled with these Mr. Saturns and they all look the same, but they are friendly, so don't worry about more battles. First, head into the hut on the right to revive Paula and Jeff if they died, then go to the left hut to fully heal your party. The best thing is that you can do so free of charge! Entering the large tunnel to the north leads to a present. Go up the ladder on the left side and through the tunnel. Talk to the guys in here, and one of them will reveal the password to get to Belch. Go up the ladder and into the house at the top. This is a shop. You can get money from the ATM, save your game with the phone and buy useful items. Take out ALL the money you have and purchase every needed item (the screen flashes if you need an item.) If you don't have enough money, just buy the most important weapons/armor. Head back down, and out of Saturn Village, and continue up north until you get to a waterfall. Walk through the waterfall and up to the door on the other side. Once the screen pops up saying "Say the password!" Just wait for 3 long minutes, not touching any keys. You will then be allowed to enter. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Belch's Lair ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When you first enter the lair, a Little Slime will come up to you and ask if you brought any Fly Honey, say yes to avoid a fight. Continue making your way through the lair. Your destination is west on the 2nd level. So climb down a ladder, and go left. There are several enemies here, but most are rather easy to defeat and they give you a ton of EXP. Soon you will come to Belch, who is blocking your path through a tunnel. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BOSS: Master Belch ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 650 HP Talk about an easy fight. The first chance you get, give Belch the Fly Honey Jar. He will then eat the honey for the rest of the battle allowing you to attack him without him even knowing it! Use some PSI power or whatever method you want. He'll be too busy eating the honey, he won't even know what's going on. Once he's defeated, go through the tunnel. The tunnel leads back into Saturn Valley, where you will come to next. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Saturn Valley (Revisit) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Food: Coffee Head into the Hot Spring to revive your dead party members and wash all the barf off of you. I suggest heading down to the main part of town where you can heal and save your game. Climb back up to where the hot spring is, and talk to the Saturn in front of the Hot Spring, he will offer you some coffee. Say yes and a cinema will play with a big long message for you. Once it's over, head into the cave ahead which leads to the 3rd Sanctuary Boss. This cave is filled with enemies, so be careful. They are all plant enemies, and I suggest not attempting to run, because you most likely won't escape. Eventually, after going through a series of caves, you will come to the 3rd Sanctuary Boss, Trillionage Sprout & his cohorts. Talk to the star blocking the cave to engage the battle, and make sure you have LOTS of PP for both Ness and Paula (at least 40 PP.) If you don't have that much PP, you most likely will not defeat him. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BOSS: Trillionage Sprout (3rd Sanctuary Location) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1,048 HP There is an easy way and a hard way to defeating Trillionage Sprout. The easy way is to use your PSI powers, the hard way is to use basic attacks. If you have enough PP (at least 40) you can take the easy way. Use PSI Rockin Beta, and PSI Fire Beta 3 times each on Trillionage Sprout to defeat him and his nasty cohorts. Once the battle is over, you will gain a massive amount of EXP and the path leading out will be unblocked. Go into and through the cave and out onto the other side. You will see the Milky Well, and the new melody will be recorded on your Sound Stone. That's the 3rd song you should have recorded on your sound stone. Now it's time to head back to Downtown Threed. Go through the caves again (the enemies will be frightened of you now, so no need to do battle) and make your way all the way back out of Saturn Valley, and west to Threed. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Downtown Threed (Revisit) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the way back to Threed, you'll still have to fight certain enemies, but they aren't too tough. When you finally make it back to Threed, you will notice it is bright and sunny now! Talking to the townspeople will get you several thank you's. If you want to check out the town again before leaving, do so. Save your game and rest at the hotel (it's still $180) then head out through the tunnel Southeast of Threed. The tunnels are now rid of ghosts and have been nicely lit for buses to pass through. Walk through 2 of them and you will come to a big traffic jam in the road, making it impossible to pass. This is the Dusty Dunes Desert area. There is no way through, so the only alternative is to go around. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dusty Dunes Desert ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items: See Shop Weapons: See Shop Armor: See Shop Food: See Shop Be very careful in this desert, as you and your party members are highly prone to sunstroke. Once you get to the shop, buy all the new weapons and armor, no matter how much they cost. You will need them. (You should have enough money to buy them, but if not, you'll just have to buy them in Fourside.) The old lady in the shop will sell you some useful items, like a wet towel to cure sunstroke. Leave the store, and continue going east. There is a guy on the black market who will sell Jeff a Zip Gun, purchase it, but you won't be able to sell your current weapon. Continue east, and when you are about 80% of the way out of the desert, you will come to a lone house. Go inside to find a man and a phone. The man will let you rest for free, then you can save your game using the phone. Soon you will come to the exit tunnels, go through them and into Fourside! =============================================================================== FOURSIDE =============================================================================== Big, big town. Lots of stuff to see. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Downtown Fourside ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items: Show Ticket Fourside has many, many things to see. Explore around town to see all it has to offer. You can check out the Montoli Building where "Master Pokey" is. The Department Store is closed now, so you can't go there. Other places include the bakery, hotel, and theater. Head to the theater, and pay for a ticket ($30) to get past the guard. Head into the door to the left and talk to the manager, she will say the band now owes $1,000,000. If you feel the urge to see the show, go into the north door. If not, leave then head back out of Fourside into the tunnels. Go through the long tunnels back into the desert. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dusty Dunes Desert (Revisit) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items: Diamond Go over to where that construction worker was before (the one who asked for food.) If you didn't give him food on the way, give it to him now, and stay spend the night in the room next door. The one little hole has now turned into a huge underground maze. Head into the hole and into the maze. Talking to the guy inside reveals that 5 moles have taken over the maze, and you need to kill them. Make your way through the tunnels, killing random enemies as you come to them. This area is pretty tough, and you may die a few times. On your way, you will encounter the 5 moles. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BOSS: Guardian Diggers (Moles) [5] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 386 HP Each Each of the 5 moles will tell you they are the 3rd strongest. It makes no sense, but oh well. The moles are pretty tough, and can do some pretty big attacks. I suggest using PSI Rockin or PSI Fire on them until they die. Watch your PP meter, however, or you will end up in a battle with no PP. Once you defeat all 5 of them, head out of the maze and into the desert. Talk to the construction worker, and he will tell you that whatever gold he finds will be yours. Now, start back on your way to Fourside. When you are about halfway across the bridge, the construction worker's brother will come from behind in a tractor. He rewards you with a diamond, which you will use to rescue the Runaway 5 from their $1,000,000 debt. Continue across the bridge and back into Fourside. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Downtown Fourside (Revisit) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items: Show Ticket As you enter Fourside, check your money and make sure you have at least $30 on you, if not, go to the hotel to the west and withdraw at least $30. Now head north and into the theater, where you must buy another ticket to enter. Go into the door on the left to see the manager. Position yourself behind her desk and give her the diamond. She will rip up the contract and the Runaway Five will come and leave, thanking you on the way. Now it's time to do some shopping! Go over to the Department Store (which is now open.) There are 4 floors to this store, so be sure you check out all it has to offer. Upgrade all of your weapons and armor. You will find a black- market vendor inside a storage room, buy stuff from him as well. Once you're done upgrading, go back to the first floor. The electricity will go out and an alien will come along and scoop up Paula. You then hear over the P.A. that the alien wants you to come to the 4th floor to get Paula back. Start heading back up the escalators. There are now musical enemies you will fight on your way up, but they aren't too tough. Once at the 4th floor, go through the small door on the left to find the Department Store Spook (alien) sitting behind a desk, confront him to engage a battle. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BOSS: Department Store Spook ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Apprx. 800 HP Yet another easy battle. Use PSI Rockin Beta on him about 4 times (if you have enough PP) to defeat him. If you run out of PP, just use basic attacks until he's gone. His counter attacks are average, nothing really special. Once he's defeated, he will tell you that Paula is at the Montoli Building, and then he fades away, leaving you to play again. Head back down the 4 floors and out of the Department Store. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Downtown Fourside (Revisit) (Continued) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The logical thing would be to go to the Montoli Building to pick up Paula, right? Well, don't bother, she's not there. Instead, head south to the Cafe. Go inside, and talk to the woman (she's the only new person) then leave the Cafe. You will notice a big group of people gathering around a fallen man. Talk to the dirty guy on the far end and he will offer you his spot if you give him something. Just give him a useless items and he'll move. Go up to the fallen man, and talk to him. You will realize that it's Everdred from Burglin Park. He will tell you a story about how he stole the Mani Mani Statue from Mr. Montoli, but Mr. Montoli stole it back from him. He also reveals that Mr. Montoli is getting all his evil from that Statue. As he gasps for air, he also tells you to check behind the counter in the Cafe. Then he gets up and runs away (pushing civilians as he goes.) Walk back into the Cafe, and go behind the counter (facing the wall.) Check it out and a flashback sequence (sort of) will take place. You will now be transported to a dream world, known as Moonside. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Moonside ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This new world is very strange. It's basically the same place as Fourside, only with everything mixed up. The colors of the town are different, Yes means No, and No means Yes, the buildings are all mixed up. There are new enemies, people talk weird, everything is screwed up. First, head over to the Montoli Building (it's to the south now.) There is only one way to get to the building, and that path is being guarded by some guy. Talk to the guy and he will inform you that you cannot pass unless you have a man with a unibrow, and a gold tooth in your party. It sounds strange, but that's how it goes. Go north to the hotel, there is a man there (with yellow hair and sunglasses on) talk to him and he will transport you to a new area with another guy who looks the same. Talk to him and he will transport you to another area, where you will find a man with dark hair. Say No to him and he will warp you to a new room, and inside are 2 people. One is invisible, and one is a mean looking guy. Talk to the invisible one and he will ask you if you can see him. Say No (meaning Yes), then talk to the other guy, who sends you into the hotel room. The invisible man will now join your party. Exit the hotel. As you walk, the invisible guy will tell you he has a unibrow and gold tooth. Go south once again to the hotel, and the guard will let you by (even saying "Huzzah!") to fight the Evil Mani Mani Statue. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BOSS: Evil Mani Mani Statue ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 860 HP There will be a man standing in front of the statue when you arrive, but he will be frightened and run away. The battle will then engage. Once again, just use PSI Rockin Beta a few times to defeat him, or use basic attacks when you run out of PP. His counter attacks don't do much damage, so he's rather simple to defeat. Once he's gone, you will end up in a warehouse with the broken statue in front of you. Check the statue to find out it was only any image that has now been destroyed. You can talk to the mouse on the other side of the boxes if you wish. Once you're finished, go through the door on the left which leads back into the Cafe, and back into Fourside! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Downtown Fourside (Revisit) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As you enter the Cafe, Apple Kid will call you on your receiver phone, telling you he has created a new invention. The trout-flavored yogurt maker. Exit the Cafe and you will see a monkey. Talk to it and it will request you meet him in the Desert. After that, the Delivery boy from Escargo Express comes along, saying that he forgot your package in the desert and that you'll have to get it yourself. Finally, a girl will approach you requesting you tell her if you find a trout-flavored yogurt machine. Now it's time to head back to the desert. Don't worry about getting Paula back just yet, as she will join back up with you a bit later. Heal and save at the hotel (if needed) and make sure you have all your new weapons/armor equipped before heading out. Exit Fourside and cross over the bridge and through the tunnels back into the Desert. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dusty Dunes Desert (Revisit) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Food: Picnic Lunch, Skip Sandwich Instead of going into the desert area, continue going west along the road (that way, you will avoid sunstroke.) The traffic jam is gone, so the road is clear, take it all the way up to the Drugstore. If you don't have both a Picnic Lunch and a Skip Sandwich, purchase both. I advise resting in the Drugstore (for $140.) Once finished, exit the store and go north where the monkey is standing by the hole. Go down the hole. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tarah Rama's Cave ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items: Trout-Flavored Yogurt Maker, Wet Towel Food: Hamburger, Protein Drink, Fresh Egg, Pizza, King Banana This cave is absolutely, positively impossible to write a walkthrough for, as you would be totally confused. However, I can cover the basics. Basically, the cave has several monkeys in it, each guarding a door. You must give them a certain item in order for them to move out of your way. You collect these "certain" items as you go through each door. That's why you must start out with the Picnic Lunch and Skip Sandwich, because the first 2 monkeys will ask for that, and you can't collect anything until you get past them. Make your way through the cave, going through each door, collecting and giving items. You will come to one monkey who gives you fresh eggs whenever needed. Soon enough, you will stumble upon a room with 1 monkey in it, and a big iron pencil (similar to the one found in Peaceful Valley earlier) that needs to be erased. Use the Pencil Erase to remove it, and go into the opening. Inside you will find an older man who seems to be meditating and a monkey. Talk to the old man, and he will give you the Trout-Flavored Yogurt Maker, as well as tell you to speak to the monkey if you want to learn the new teleporting ability. Take the items from the 2 chests, and talk to the monkey. He will tell you to meet him outside if you want to learn the new technique. Follow him all the way out of the cave, and through the desert, back onto the road. He will demonstrate the new ability, then watches you as you test it out. You've now learned PSI Teleporting Alpha! It uses 2PP everytime you use it, not a big price. Now it's time to go back to Fourside and give the yogurt maker to Electra (Mr. Montoli's maid.) So head back through the tunnels to the east, back across the bridge and into Fourside once again. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Downtown Fourside (Revisit) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Go north up to the Department Store, where Electra will be waiting on the corner. Talk to her and she will automatically take the Yogurt Maker, and gives you access to her room on the 48th floor of the Montoli Building (using that other elevator you couldn't use before.) Head across the street and into the Montoli Building, and take the elevator(s) up to the 48th floor. Be careful, because there are Sensory Robots here. Go through the doors, fighting the robots until you come to one room with the Clumsy Robot boss in it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BOSS: Clumsy Robot ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 962 HP I think his name says it all, this robot is a total klutz. He rarely attacks you, but instead fools around with other things. He does, however, sometimes eat a bologna sandwich and replenishes all his HP. Do NOT use your PSI powers on him, because they won't work. (I used PSI Omega and wasted 40PP.) Instead use basic attacks, he won't attack much, too busy fooling around. After a while into the battle, the Runaway Five will appear and flip the switch on the Clumsy Robot, making him die. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Downtown Fourside (Revisit) (Continued) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now that the robot is gone, head into the next room to the right. Mr. Montoli will be scared to death of you and your party, and agrees to let Paula join your party again. He then offers his helicopter to you in order to get to Summers. Go out to the helipad, only to find Pokey flying off in the chopper spatting insults as he goes. Go back into the building, and into the room where the Clumsy Robot was. The Runaway Five offer to give you a ride to Threed, where you must go to fix the Sky Runner. Take the elevator back down and out of the Montoli Bldg. The bus awaits you, hop on and watch the drive all the way back to Threed. You will be dropped off, and left to play again. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Downtown Threed (Revisit) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A quick save/restore may be needed, so head to the hotel before anything. Once ready, make your way to the north end of town near the graveyard (where the Sky Runner first crashed.) Go into the tunnel to find the Sky Runner with 2 guys next to it, they gave it a paint job. Jeff will fix it and you can all ride it again! As you all board, the Sky Runner will lift off and take you back to Winters, where you must visit Jeff's father, the scientist. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Outside Winters (Revisit) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When you land inside the lab, talk to the scientist, and he will tell you to go into the Rainy Circle (while at the same time revealing Jeff wets the bed ^_^) so that's where you must go next. Leave the lab, and go north into the cave. Approach the star like object in front of the cave opening to engage your 4th Sanctuary Boss battle. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BOSS: Shroom (4th Sanctuary Location) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1,700 HP As usual, you'll be using PSI powers on this guy. If you've made it to at least Level 49 with Ness, you can use PSI Rockin Omega on him a few times. Otherwise, just use any good PSI attacks (PSI Fire Beta will do fine) you have with either Ness or Paula. Once he's defeated, go through the cave and into the outside area where you will find the 4th Sanctuary Location, Rainy Circle. Your party members will be healed, and the Rainy Circle Loaction will be recorded onto your Sound Stone. Go back through the cave and out into Winters again. Take the south path back into the lab. The Sky Runner has been fixed, and you can take it to Summers now! Board the ship and it will launch and land in the sunny warm city known as Summers. =============================================================================== SUMMERS =============================================================================== Hot, sunny, and sweaty. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Downtown Summers ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Food: Magic Cake First things first, head to the Shop up north. The prices are very, very expensive, and you will end up spending every last dollar you have here. I had $38,000 in the ATM, and I spent all of it on new weapons and armor. If you don't have enough money, buy the necessities. Now go east over to the poor part of town. Tony (Jeff's friend) will call you and ask that you input your real name to be registered for some club. Do so, then head into one of the buildings and a man will tell you about Club Stoic. He gives you a number to make a reservation for the club, and a stern warning that the club is strange. From that building, go into the other shop around this area and call the Stoic Club to make your reservation. Now it's time to go back to the west end of town again. Make your way into the Stoic Club (it's now open) and talk to all the people. The fat man will notify you about a "Magic Cake" and tells you the girl standing by the entrance is the only one who knows how to make it. Talk to her again, and she will tell you to meet her at an "empty cart" out in Downtown Summers. Leave the building and go southwest to find the cart. Talk to her and she will give you some of her Magic Cake (which is made of leftover ingredients she uses for other pastries.) You will begin to fade out in a dream sequence, and soon be taken to Dalaam. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dalaam ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the hometown of Prince Poo. You start out in the palace, collect the items from the 2 chests, talk to the people (and save your game with the phone on top of the guy's head.) Leave the palace and head south. Go into all the buildings and collect the food items from the chests. Walk south some more to find a fork in the road. Leading west, you have a tunnel blocked by rabbits. Leading right, you have the "Mu" area. Go right. Talk to the man in front of the ladder to make him move, then climb to the top where Poo begins to meditate. Do not press any buttons here, just let him meditate. A guy will come to the side and talk to you, go through his conversation, then keep meditating (don't touch the D-Pad.) Soon, Mu will contact you. He will ask you if he can rip off your legs, arms, ears, eyes, and mind. Say yes to all of them, and you will be brought back to Dalaam. The man in front of the ladder earlier will come to you saying you have completed your training and to report to your master at the palace. Go back to the palace and talk to your master. He wishes you luck, then Poo transports to Summers, where he will join up with your party. You have no gained all 4 characters in this game. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Downtown Summers (Revisit) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items: Hieroglyph Copy Now with all 4 characters in your party, walk northeast up to the Museum. Go inside, pay the fee, and you will be confronted by 2 enemies. They have a ton of HP, so be prepared to use some PSI Rockin Beta (or Gamma). One attacks right after you defeat the other, so you have no time for healing. After they are gone, you will get the Hieroglyph Copy, and are advised to go to Scaraba by Poo. Leave the museum, and go onto the street to teleport back to Fourside. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Downtown Fourside (Revisit) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items: Carrot Key, Signed Banana Alright, first off, you MUST heal yourself at the hotel. I also suggest saving here. Go to the Dinosaur Museum (pay $20 to get in) and talk to the man in front of the door. He wants you to bring him an autograph from Venus at the Topolla theater. Exit the Museum and go south just a little. Walk into the theater and pay $30 for admission, go into the side room to speak to Venus, and she will sign a banana peel for you. Go back to the Dinosaur Museum (paying another $20) and give the signed banana to the man in front of the door. He will tell you there is a monster rat in the next room down in the sewers. Go through the door and into the sewer. There are several enemies here (Roaches, Mice, Trash Cans, etc.) so be careful. Go right 2 screens (wading through the sewer water) to find the 5th Sanctuary Boss, Plague Rat of Doom. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BOSS: Plague Rat of Doom (5th Sanctuary Location) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1,827 HP This battle was very easy for me, all the rat did was smile throughout the whole battle. A good PSI attack to use is Poo's PSI Freeze Beta. Not only does it take off 200+ HP on the rat, but it also solidifies the rat's body sometimes. Combine that with Paula's PSI Fire Beta and Ness' PSI Rockin Beta and you should have this rat taken care of in no time. Once he's defeated, collect the Carrot Key, and go through the cave opening. You will come to the Magnet Hill Sanctuary Location, and the sound will be recorded onto your sound stone. Head back out through the sewers (the enemies will be afraid of you now.) and exit the museum back into Downtown Fourside, where you should heal at the hotel. When you're finished, make sure you are on a road (facing the direction the road is going) and teleport yourself back to Dalaam. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dalaam (Revisit) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Armor: Bracer of Kings Remember those rabbit statues? They can now be removed with the Carrot Key. Use the key on the statues to get rid of them, and enter the cave opening. There are mostly electric type enemies in here, and if they use any big attacks on Ness, they will be reflected with the Franklin Badge. Climb the 2 ladders, and drop through all the holes, fighting enemies and collecting treasure whenever possible. After you drop through the last hole you will be taken to the 6th Sanctuary Boss located in front of another cave opening. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BOSS: Thunder & Storm (6th Sanctuary Location) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2,065 HP I strongly recommend using PSI Freeze Beta/Gamma on these guy(s). Make sure Ness has his Franklin Badge on to deflect lightning attacks. There is one specific attack that does a massive 300+ hit to one person, right after they take a deep breath, they let it out on somebody. For Ness, just use PSI Rockin Beta (Gamma doesn't do any more damage on these guys than Beta does) and for Paula use PSI Freeze Gamma (if you have it) same for Poo. Using PSI Freeze Gamma a couple of times will take these guys out. Go through the cave opening once you defeat them and wander over to the Pink Cloud, where Ness will see an image of his mother when she was little. The Pink Cloud melody will then be recorded onto your sound stone. Go back through the cave (enemies will be afraid of you, as usual) and make sure you collect the Bracer of Kings for Poo to equip on your way out. Head out back into downtown Dalaam. Go near the palace and transport back to Summers. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Downtown Summers (Revisit) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When you arrive at Summers, go east to the poor side of town again. Talk to the sailor standing by the stairs, he will thank you for rescuing his wife from that Stoic Club, then he offers to take you on his boat to Scaraba (for a fee, of course.) Pay the fee, and ride the boat. When you are just about near Scaraba, a boss will attack you, it's Kraken! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BOSS: Kraken ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1,097 HP The easiest way to defeat this sea monster is to use PSI Freeze. Use Freeze Gamma (if possible) on him about 3 times to defeat him. You can use other attacks, but they won't do near as much damage as PSI Freeze will. The only attacks he throws at you would be his fire breath, and his lightning attacks. The Franklin Badge may be able to help here (if he attacks Ness.) When you defeat him, the boat will continue on and finally anchor into the port of a hot, desert area, Scaraba. =============================================================================== SCARABA =============================================================================== Desert Island southwest of Dalaam. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Scaraba ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items: Hawk Eye, Tower Key First, go into the shop and buy the necessary upgrades for your party members (you should have regained that lost money in Summers by now.) When finished, walk south where a few pyramids are, one of them has a door on it. Before you can enter it, you'll have to do a little "dance" for the Sphinx blocking your way. There are 5 dots on the floor, you must step on each dot in a specific order to open the cave. Below is a diagram showing which dots to step on. Start with 1, and end with 5. (1) (4) (3) (2) (5) You may notice, the pattern forms a star. Once you make that pattern, you can enter the pyramid. This area is pretty straight forward, as there is only 1 way to go. Make your way through the pyramid, fighting enemies as you go. You will be climbing up and down several stair cases. Soon, you will come to a room with a loose tile on the floor. After defeating the enemies in this room, step on the tile, exit the room, and go all the way back to the area where you saw a casket lying on a platform. The casket will now be moved out of the way and a hidden hole is revealed in the ground. Jump through, and you will land in a new room with an eyeball object sitting on top of a platform. Take the item (make sure you give the item to Ness, Paula, or Jeff only though, because Poo will be departing you shortly.) Defeat any remaining enemies, then exit to the right (leads out to the back of the pyramid.) The man who saw Poo earlier (the one who swirled away in the wind) will now approach you, asking to see Poo. The man says if Poo will not go with him, he will be forced to go, as he needs to learn Starstorm. Poo now leaves your party, leaving the 3 of you to play. All health is replenished for your party members, so exit the pyramid and go north. Talk to the odd looking man to get a key, then go northwest and use the key on the tower shaped like a face. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tower ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After reading the first few signs, you will soon realize this tower was built by none other than Brick Road himself. There are fewer enemies in this one than there were in the other. First, you must go to the 4 ropes. Climb the 3rd one from the left to get up to the 2nd floor. Go through here, reading signs, opening presents, and finally climbing the next rope leading up to the 3rd floor. This is sort of a "Monster Farm" because there are several enemy species locked up. Finally, make your way to the last rope, climb it to go to the 4th floor. You will see Brick Wall's face on the north wall. Talk to him and he will offer to join you, as well as tell you how to get out of the tower. Take the southeast path to the Exit Hole, where you jump down back to the 3rd floor. Continue jumping down the holes until you exit the tower. As promised, Brick Wall will now join your party, in the form of the tower. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Scaraba (Revisit) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Walk southeast, until you come to some trees. Brick Road will get stuck in the trees because his tower is too tall to clear them. He says good-bye, and leaves you alone to play again. Continue going southeast until you come to another odd looking man. He will tell you need a submarine to cross over to Deep Darkness. Go back over to Brick Road, talk to him and he'll tell you he has a submarine inside. Go back inside his body. Head to the 4 ropes again, climb the 3rd one from the left, and make your way all the way up to the 4th floor, and talk to Brick Road again. He tells you to take the "Good-bye Exit" if you want to get the submarine. Take the southeast path, and drop into the hole at the end (with no rope on it.) Continue dropping down until you land on the bottom floor. Go north, up where there are cars, and other vehicles. Fight any roaming enemies here, then look at the sign for the Submarine. Jeff will fix, then you will all leave the Tower, and sail over to Deep Darkness using you new Submarine. =============================================================================== DEEP DARKNESS =============================================================================== Dark, swampy, dangerous. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Deep Darkness ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Once you land, get off, go up and save your game with the bird phone. Then call Escargo Express and have the Hawk Eye delivered. Once the delivery guy comes and delivers the Hawk Eye, go into the water to the right. There are 2 types of water: shallow, and deep. The deep water is darker in color, and when walking in it, you will lose HP randomly, so be careful. Go through the swamps, heading south, where it's dark. Use your Hawk Eye to lighten things up. Continue through the swamps, collecting items inside the presents and fighting the new enemies. Soon, you will come to another boss fight. It's Master Belch again! Only this time, he's changed his name to Master Barf, and the battle isn't go to be as easy as it was before. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BOSS: Master Barf ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1,319 HP If you don't have Paula with you, I suggest you revive her for this match. Since Master Barf won't eat that Fly Honey anymore, you will actually have to fight him this time around. Using PSI Freeze Gamma will deal out a massive 300+ HP attack on him. Combine that with PSI Rockin Beta, a few basic attacks, and that's that. Once you've dealt him enough damage, Poo will come and demonstrate his new Starstorm PSI power, killing off Master Belch. Go northwest, where you will find a cave opening leading into Tenda Village, head inside. =============================================================================== TENDA VILLAGE =============================================================================== Home of the shy men. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tenda Village ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You won't get much out of the people living in this cave, they are all shy and refuse to say anything. Talk to the guy up by a cave opening and you can rest for free to replenish your party's health. Go to the southwest corner to find 2 guys standing by a boulder. Talk to the guy on the left and he will explain that the boulder is covering a hole because there is a monster down there. He then goes on to say that the person next to him is strong enough to move the boulder, but he's too shy and that you'll need the book on how to cure shyness. After you've rested up, and saved your game with the phone in the southeast corner, exit the cave. Apple Kid will phone you up on your receiver phone, informing you that he's invented an eraser eraser (item that can erase iron statues of erasers.) Apple Kid is then kidnapped and Orange Kid calls you, ignore him, and go back all the way to the north part of Deep Darkness. Teach the monkey on the right how to teleport and he will reward you with "Monkey Love." Now teleport back to Winters. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Downtown Winters (Revisit) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items: Eraser Eraser Go south, past the tents and into the little alcove where the monkey is. He will blow his gum and Nessie will come and transport you to the other area of Winters. You won't have to go through Brick Road again, just use your Pencil Eraser on the iron pencil blocking your path, then go past stonehenge and into the Dr.'s laboratory. Talk to the mouse, and he will tell you that Apple Kid and the Dr. have been kidnapped! He gives you the Eraser Eraser, and leaves you to go into the hole in the middle of Stonehenge. Once inside this new cave area, erase the iron eraser statue with your newly acquired item, and continue into the cave. This is a long, and confusing path, with tons of strong enemies. You may get overly frustrated here. Just make your way through, taking different paths each time, until you eventually end up in a different type of room (it's dark inside.) Make your way through here, defeating roaming enemies, until you come to another door. Go through it and you will be in a room with several tubes. Inside these tubes are some familiar faces, and not so familiar faces (Mr. Saturn, Jeff's dad, Apple Kid, etc.) Go into the next room to find your next boss, Starman Deluxe. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BOSS: Starman Deluxe ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1,400 HP I recommend not using PSI powers on this guy, as he reflects them back at you most of the time. If you are having trouble defeating him, just set it on Auto fight (which I did) and hopefully you'll turn out the victor. Try using the Shield Killer on him, to knock down his shield. Also, beware of his Starstorm attack, it will kill any party member as soon as it hits them due to it's strength. Starman DX likes to call for help frequently, but if you don't bother with his cohorts, they will die automatically when you kill him. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Downtown Winters (Revisit) (Continued) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you were lucky enough to have picked up the Exit Mouse on your way in, use him now to automatically exit this confusing maze and back into Winters. Go south to the lab, and save your game. If you talked to Apple Kid in the maze (after he was released) he tells you that he returned the Shyness book to the Onnet Library. So it's time to visit your home town once again! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Downtown Onnet (Revisit) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items: Shyness Book Head up to the Library, and talk to the kid with the mask on. He/she will tell you that you can find the Shyness Book on the book shelve. Go into the door on the right, and check the far left bookcase to get the Shyness Book. Exit the library, rest at home (if you wish to see your mother) then find a long road, with nothing blocking your way. Teleport back to Deep Darkness. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Deep Darkness (Revisit) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now you must make your way back to Tenda Village. Go through the swamps once again, past where Master Barf used to be, and northwest where the tunnel opening leads to Tenda Village. Go inside, and heal at the Inn if you wish. You will notice a funny looking Tenda, who has sort of devilish horns on his head. Give him the Shyness Book, and he will in turn give you some weird item. He then reads the book to all the Tendas in the village, and they will be cured of their shyness, as well as talk to you now. Go back into the corner where that large boulder is sitting. Talk to the strong Tenda there, and he will shove the boulder out of your way, allowing you to go down into the hole where the dinosaur is. When you first enter this hole, you will see that the rock below has a face on it. Talk to it and it will inform you that the rock on the lower level talks most. Make your way all through the cave, using the ladders and holes that lead to the bottom floor of this underground tunnel. You will fight several enemies in this tunnel, but they aren't very tough. Eventually, you will find one of those stars. It's the 7th Sanctuary Boss. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BOSS: Electro Specter (7th Sanctuary Location) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3,092 HP First off, do NOT use any PSI powers on this guy. He reflects 90% of them back in your face and you or your party members will be killed instantly. The only way to beat this guy is to use standard attacks. It may take a while, but it's the only way. Make sure you have the Franklin Badge equipped on Ness, because Electro Specter likes to use a lot of Lighting attacks on you. Your party members may die in this fight, but all Ness needs is that Franklin Badge, and his fists to defeat this electric freak. Once you defeat him, walk north into this new area. The colors on the walls seem strange. Then you will see a big message displaying all of Ness' thoughts on the wall for the rest of his party members to read. The melody of Lumine Hall will be recorded onto your Sound Stone, and that's all for the 7th Sanctuary Location. Continue going west, and drop through the hole in the floor to be taken to the Lost Underworld. =============================================================================== LOST UNDERWORLD =============================================================================== You are small, everything is big. This place is a.k.a. the Labyrinth. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lost Underworld ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Alright, head northwest to find the "other" Tenda Village. On your way, you may encounter earthquakes. Whenever an earthquake strikes, all of the hot springs erupt. There are blue springs (for healing HP/PP) and red springs (for curing ailments.) When you get to the village, one of the Tendas will confront you, telling you to leave, until he gets a whiff of that thing you got from the devil Tenda earlier. He lets you in the village, where you can do a number of things. You can rest/save your game, or talk to people/things. The people don't say much, and the price to rest is $200. For now, just talk to the rock with a face on it to get some very useful information. It will tell you about the 8 "Your Sanctuary" locations, and where you should go next. The next place you must head to is Fire Spring, which is to the southwest of Tenda Village (the one you're at now.) Take the rock's advice, and start walking southwest. You will soon come to 2 tunnel openings. Go into the one on the far left, which leads you into Fire Spring. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fire Spring ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There are several paths to take in this tunnel (and you will notice that you are no longer little.) Take various paths, and fight the enemies you encounter. This area is a great place to level up your party members (well, at least Ness anyway.) The enemies give off a lot of EXP. so you can easily get up to the 70's or 80's in Level. Follow the paths, and tunnels, until you come to another Sanctuary Boss. This one has 2 forms... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BOSS: Carbon Dog/Diamond Dog (8th Sanctuary Location) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5,016 HP (Carbon Dog = 1,672; Diamond Dog = 3,344) Talk about a tough fight. Carbon Dog isn't that bad. A few PSI Freeze Beta or Gamma attacks should take care of him, but then immediately after, he transforms into Diamond Dog, who is much tougher to defeat. He has a whopping 3,000+ HP meter, plus he has a very powerful shield that reflects all basic attacks back to their dealer. Your only chance here is to use PSI powers. Give him a combination of PSI Rockin, Freeze, Fire, and Starstorm to put him back in his place. It will take a while, but you'll get it sooner or later. Once he's defeated, continue north to record the 8th Sanctuary song, Fire Spring onto your Sound Stone. You will then be warped to Magicant (the dream world.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Magicant ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A cinema will play before you get here. When you arrive, you will be in your pajamas, and all of your party members aren't with you (since it's YOUR dream.) Your family will be sitting on a couch to the east, you can rest there if you wish. Talking to some of the people who you defeated earlier on in the game will change the colors of the background. There are 2 buildings down south, nothing worth visiting though. Go west, and follow the paths, talking to old faces (enemy faces) who you defeated earlier in the game. You will soon come to a building with a grave outside (Buzz Buzz's grave.) Go into the building and talk to one of the Flying Men, he will join your party. Go east, and follow the path, fighting enemies as you go. You will end up in the Sea of Eden. Swim around here, fight Kraken again (he's not very hard, so I wouldn't consider him a boss.) Continue taking the path, fighting enemies. You will eventually arrive at Ness' Nightmare, sitting on a platform. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BOSS: Ness' Nightmare ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1,654 HP This thing looks like an enhanced Evil Mani Mani Statue, but anyway...this won't be too tough of a battle for you. It has a shield, so use basic attacks for a while. Once you've done enough damage, the shield will be removed, allowing you to use PSI again. Give him a few PSI Rockin Beta attacks (since that's all you can use without your party members.) Continue this method of attack, and when he equips a new shield, stick with basic attacks again until he's defeated. This will end your Magicant dream world. As you leave, you will gain all the power from each and every Sanctuary location (that's +5 increase in a lot of categories) and you will also gain a massive 200,000 EXP. at the end of the battle (too bad the others couldn't be around to share it.) and finally, you will learn PSI Teleport Beta, which is much better than before. You can now transport it very small places (you run around in circles) and you can go to any place you've previously visited in the game. After a cinema, you will be left in Fire Spring again. Your Sound Stone will now vanish (since you don't need it anymore) and you must head back to Saturn Valley to see something "new." Find an area with a little bit of open space, then test out your new PSI power by transporting to Saturn Valley. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Saturn Valley (Revisit) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items: Piece of Meteorite You will notice a new machine with the Doctor, and some Mr. Saturns in front of it. Hop inside the machine, and you will come out all burnt up. Talk to the Doctor and he will tell you it doesn't work yet, and that it needs an element from a meteorite. He tells you that you must warp back to Onnet and take a piece of the meteorite that crashed when you first started the game. However, Onnet is filled with very tough enemies now, so you must be careful. Transport to Onnet, to find it dark, and gray. The enemies here are unbelievably difficult to defeat. Avoid them whenever possible. Go home and rest if needed, then take the left path to the meteorite site. Take the piece of meteorite and warp back to Saturn Valley once you get it. Give it to the Doctor, and rest the night. He will have fixed the Phaser, and you can take it back to the Lost Underworld. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lost Underworld (Revisit) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When you land, go right, and take the north path. The Doctor and a few other people will come in another Phaser, known as "Phaser 2." The Doctor says that Giygas has warped to the past, and the only way to stop him is to warp back in time yourself. He then gives you even more bad news, saying that the only way to warp back in time is by using the Phaser 3, and that will kill all living things. The only alternative is to send your spirits along with robots to the past, agree, and you can then warp to the past as robots. Follow all the paths, fighting the enemies as you go (or avoiding them, you choose.) After you finish crossing all the white platforms, you will enter a new area with stringy platforms, they look like hoses. Follow these all the way to the top, where you will see a big thing with your face in the middle. This is Giygas. =============================================================================== FINAL BOSS: GIYGAS (3 PHASES) =============================================================================== Unknown HP That's right, unknown. His first phase includes Heavy Armored Pokey (what a surprise that Pokey would be involved with Giygas.) You will have to use 3 shields to block the attacks, and then use Brain Shock on Pokey, so he will attack/kill himself. The 2nd phase is anything than what you expected. Go all out and use all Omega PSI powers on him (PSI Rockin Omega, Freeze Omega, Fire Omega, Starstorm Omega, etc.) until he reveals his 3rd and final form, which is just like the 2nd only much tougher. Just use Brain Shock on him and he will eventually attack himself. Use Paula's Pray command 9 times, and that is all you need to defeat him. CONGRATULATIONS! You've defeated Giygas, and finished the game. I'll leave the ending to you, since you've earned it. =============================================================================== V. TIPS/HINTS =============================================================================== Major thanks to GameSages for the codes/game genie codes, thanks to the contributors of all the codes. Thanks to world-of-nintendo.com for the Pro Action Replay codes. If you have any codes not listed here (or any random tips/hints,) please send them along to the address listed in the "Information" section at the end of this document. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DEFEATING GIYGAS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Before you go into the Phase Distorter 2, remember to sell all but the essential items and replace them with "Horn of Life"s. This is extremely crucial to your survival! On the first screen, Giygas is there with Pokey in a machine. Now concentrate all fire on Pokey. Use Lifeup B on those that are getting hurt. Now when Pokey stops the fight he turns off the machine and says how spooky it looks inside Giygas. Then you go head to head with Giygas himself. Using Bash & Shoot (And of course Lifeup B) fight him until Pokey stops the fight and makes Giygas stronger. Now you can use PRAY, which wears out after 9 uses. From then on, use the "Horn of Life." After you run out of everybody but you and Paula, it seems like all hope is lost and all you have left is spirit! Now use PRAY again until Giygas is defeated! Thanks to Brian Hagler ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- EASY LEVEL UP ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To get a very easy level up, go to the Scaraba Desert. Walk around until you see a little red bug which is the Criminal Catepillar. Try walking all the way to the bottom, straight back up, and looking to the right of the gate. It is very weak and will run from you so all you have to do is chase it around till you enter a fight. You will automatically win and you should receive around 28,000 exp. points! Keep finding and fighting him till you get to the level you want. If you get weak, go to the hotel and sleep to regain your health. Thanks to s_keffer@hotmail.com and Dan Buchler ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FREE MONEY ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There are several ways in this game to earn some quick cash. One way is to raise chickens. First, buy them for $12 and keep them. Wait till they turn into chickens and then sell them for $110! Two places where you can get free eggs are Happy Happy Village and a monkey in Tarah Rama's Cave. Another way to get money is to buy Broken Cannons for Jeff in Scarabia and then go Twoson. Keep sleeping in Paula's house until Jeff turns them all into Spectrum Beams, and then sell them for a nice profit. While you're waiting in Twoson, go to the man sitting in the hotel and talk to him until he gives you 50 bucks. Thanks to LAJOSD@prodigy.net and gregamouse@hotmail.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FREE REFUND ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To get back your money while in Twoson, go to "Hotel Twoson" and pay fifty dollars for your stay. When you wake up in the morning, go out your door and head to the bottom of the room. There you will see a man standing there. Talk to this man repeatedly and he will say short sentences to you. After a while, he will give you fifty dollars (A FULL REFUND!) Thanks to Bigmeankev ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ROCK CANDY TRICK ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You need rock candy and a lot of sugar packets for this trick to work. Put them all in one person's inventory. Now, get into a battle. Have that person use the rock candy in battle. They will sprinkle sugar on the rock candy and it will increase that person's stats. But the trick is, when you do it in battle with the sugar packet, the packet gets consumed, but the rock candy remains! Continue to do this and you can make all your characters invincible! Thanks to Tough American Dyke ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- THE INSIGNIFICANT ITEM ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The first step is to go to Threed and defeat Belch. After you have done that go to the Threed hospital, second floor. Go into both rooms and check the drawer you should find the insignificant item. This item has no purpose but is fun to get. Thanks to THE WIZ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- UNLIMITED MAGIC BUTTERFLIES ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When you get to Threed, and have to travel into the warehouse type of place Master Belch is in, don't limit your PSI, you can use as much as you want! On the way to fighting Master Belch there will be a room you can go in and out of, and a magic butterfly will be there everytime! This is the same also when you are in Scaraba, after going through the Hole at the top of the pyramid, the butterfly will be in the last room. Thanks to xPurpleFishx@xoommail.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- AVOIDING BATTLES EASILY ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To avoid engaging a battle with basic enemies, just go off screen until they disappear. If you are climbing a ladder, just keep going up/down until the enemies disappear. This doesn't work all the time, but if you are low on health, it's good to avoid battles whenever possible. Thanks to Dallas ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TAKING LESS DAMAGE ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- During a battle, if an enemy blows up, or bursts into flames (such as the tree, or the orb) it will do a lot of damage to you (300+) but there is a way to avoid taking all that damage. When an enemy does an attack like this, just continue bashing it until it dies, and once it dies, your HP meter will stop decreasing, saving you a lot of HP! PSI LIST =============================================================================== If you haven't figured it out by now, PSI is what Ness, Paula, and Poo use other than their basic attacks. There are 3 different types of PSI powers, Offense, Recover, and Assist. Offense uses PSI Powers to attack enemies, Recover is used to heal you or a party member. Assist puts some type of ail on an enemy. Jeff cannot use PSI powers, unfortunately, but the other characters can, and below are all the PSI powers available in the game, with stats for each one in each category. Also keep in mind that you need PP to use PSI. Name = Name of PSI Power PP = PP cost for using this power LVL = Level you learn it at HIT = What enemies it hits RCV = HP Recovered DESCR = Description ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NESS (OFFENSE) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NAME PP LVL HIT DESCR ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PSI Special Alpha 10 8 ALL First PSI power you learn, great for the weaker enemies you encounter in the first part of the game. The name of it is the default name for "Favorite Thing" so whatever you set your Favorite Thing as, that's what this attack will be titled throughout the game. PSI Flash Alpha 8 18 ALL This power misses half of the time, but when it is successful, it will do some sort of harm to the enemy it's used on. While no physical damage is done (HP) it may cause conditions such as: crying, paralysis, strange feeling, etc. Most of the time it fails to work, however. PSI Special Beta 14 22 ALL Much better attack. Does around 170-240 damage (most of the time) to enemies with average defense. This PSI power will be used very frequently through the mid part of the game. PSI Flash Beta 16 38 ALL Pretty much the same as PSI Flash Alpha, does the same damage (feeling strange, crying, paralysis, etc.) only now your chances of it working are about 10% greater. If you plan to use PSI Flash, (when you only have Alpha and Beta) I advise using Alpha instead, because it has the same effect and wastes less PP. PSI Special Gamma 40 49 ALL For one, this power uses a massive load of PP, but it does get up to the 400s when it comes to damage. I suggest only using this power on very tough bosses, because it eats up way too much PP for simple enemies or mini-bosses. PSI Flash Gamma 24 61 ALL Much better this time around. It now has effect about 75% of the time, but still has the same effects (paralysis, crying, feeling strange, etc.) just a better probability of working. PSI Flash Omega 32 67 ALL The best as it gets, now has apprx. 90% probably of working when used on any enemy (with the exception of enemies using shields.) Same effects as prior versions, maximum probability of working is the only change. PSI Special Omega 98 75 ALL Once again, this one does a lot of damage (close to 900 HP damage sometimes) but the PP cost is far too expensive to go wasting it on mini-bosses or average enemies. You should use this on Sanctuary Bosses as well as normal bosses. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NESS (RECOVERY) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NAME PP LVL RCV DESCR ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PSI Lifeup Alpha 5 2 50-130 Pretty useful for the early stages in the game. This power will replenish quite a bit of HP for lower levels. You can use it for Ness or any other party member in need of HP (when they are at a low level.) PSI Healing Alpha 5 10 --- Used for simple ailments, such as catching a cold, sunstroke, and sleeping. You will be using this PSI power very frequently in the earlier stages of the game, especially on the way to Happy Happy Village, where you will be catching many colds. PSI Lifeup Beta 8 20 220-370 The prime recovery method in the game. Not only does this use little PP, but it recovers huge amounts of HP on any party member (even when you learn PSI Lifeup Gamma.) You can even use this when you come closer to the end of the game. PSI Healing Beta 8 24 --- An add-on to what PSI Healing Alpha does, Beta will cure all that Alpha will, with the additions of crying, poison, feeling sick, and mushroomization. If it's poison you are looking to cure, use this power (you will be poisoned a lot in the game.) PSI Lifeup Gamma 13 39 ALL Possibly the best healing PSI power you can get. It recovers all lost HP when needed, and only uses a small amount of PP. I suggest using this over PSI Lifeup Omega, only when needed though. PSI Healing Gamma 20 53 --- Using this will cure all that Beta can, with the additions of paralysis and diomandization. You won't really have much use for this power. If you are aiming to cure simple ailments, use a less powerful spell, it will save you useful PP. This spell can also revive dead party members. PSI Lifeup Omega 24 70 310-460 This power doesn't make much sense. It uses more PP, and recovers less HP. Once you _do_ get this, I suggest NOT using it, but instead use PSI Lifeup Gamma to replenish all of your HP, instead of just 300 or so. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NESS (ASSIST) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NAME PP LVL RCV DESCR ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PSI Hypnosis Alpha 6 4 --- This power works about 60% of the time, and when it does, it will make the attacking enemy fall asleep. It doesn't have a good chance of hitting, but when it does, you can get some good shots in. PSI Paralysis Alpha 8 14 --- This will (sometimes) make an enemy paralyzed, and unable to move for a random period of time. The probability of this power working, however, isn't very good. This power can only be used on 1 enemy at a time, also. Shield Alpha 6 16 --- Very useful when you first start the game. When using this power, you will reduce the amount of damage taken from an enemy attack by 1/2! Good for some of those tougher bosses early on in the game. PSI Hypnosis Omega 18 27 --- Same effect as PSI Hypnosis Alpha, only it has a much better probability of working. This power will make an enemy sleep 85% of the time when used. Another good attack to use if you're low on HP. PSI Paralysis Omega 24 29 --- Same as before, only a bit stronger and a better chance of working. Most enemies are immune to paralysis, so I suggest using the weaker version of this power (if you must use it at all during the game.) Shield Beta 10 34 --- Has the same effect as Shield Alpha, only this power will reflect the enemy attack back onto the enemy, doing 1/2 damage to him. So you will be taking 1/2 damage to attacks, and doing half damage back when an enemy attacks you. Cost efficient as well! PSI Teleport Alpha 2 -- --- You will learn this very useful power after going through the Tarah Rama cave (the monkey teaches it to you.) With this, you can teleport to any area you have previously visited, but you must be in a wide, open area to pick up enough speed for it to work. PSI Teleport Beta 8 -- --- A slight modification...now you don't need a lot of room to pick up speed. You will now be able to run around in circles to gain speed, instead of going straight. You can warp to every town you've been to in the game, and you learn it after defeating Nightmare in Magicant. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PAULA (OFFENSE) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NAME PP LVL HIT DESCR ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PSI Freeze Alpha 4 --- SOLO Excellent attack. Not only does it do up to 200+ damage, but it also can cause solidification of an enemy. This power also reduces enemy shields by 1 point. Very useful, but make sure you use it on the right enemy. PSI Fire Alpha 6 3 1 ROW Does about 50-90 damage to an enemy, as well as reduces an enemy shield by 1. This is good for when Paula first joins your party, a nice attack for most enemies (those who aren't immune to fire attacks, anyway.) PSI Thunder Alpha 3 8 SOLO The attack itself does quite a bit of damage for a power that only uses a total of 3 PP. It does anywhere from 50-150 HP Damage (most of the time) plus it reduces enemy shields by 1 points. Good to use on some enemies. PSI Freeze Beta 9 11 SOLO Uses up more PP, but sure is worth it. This attack can do up to 460+ damage, reduce enemy shields by 1, and cause potential solidification of enemies and bosses. If at a high level, use this instead of Alpha. PSI Fire Beta 12 19 1 ROW One of the main PSI powers Paula will be using, PSI Fire Beta takes off 2x the amount of damage Alpha did, but it also costs 2x more in PP. I suggest using this often when Paula joins your party, it can do up to 200+ damage to enemies. PSI Thunder Beta 7 25 SOLO Pretty much has the same effect as PSI Thunder Alpha, only a little bit stronger. You can do up to 200 HP damage with this one, but you'll have to sacrifice 4 extra PP. I don't really recommend using this power, because it wastes PP when it does almost the same thing as Alpha. PSI Freeze Gamma 18 31 SOLO As usual, you can only attack 1 enemy at a time with this. Same features as the other PSI Freeze powers, only this time the damage range is anywhere from 400-600 HP. It uses up a bit of PP, so it should be saved for bosses only. PSI Fire Gamma 20 37 1 ROW The least amount of damage this can do is the most PSI Fire Beta can. This attack takes off around 280 HP, but it does have good chances of missing. Only use this for the tough bosses, not just basic enemies, it's a waste of PP, and Beta can get the job done. PSI Freeze Omega 28 46 SOLO If you are fighting a tough enemy, or a boss, and have enough PP to last for a while, use this. It is capable of damaging up to 900+ HP on anyone it's used on. Use wisely, though, 28 PP doesn't come easy. PSI Fire Omega 42 64 1 ROW Very useful, it may cost a pretty penny when it comes to PP, but the effect is worth it, up to 410 damage to attacking bosses/enemies. Once again, don't use for basic enemies, just bosses. If you use it with basic enemies, you won't have enough PP to use on the bosses. PSI Thunder Gamma 16 57 SOLO The most powerful Thunder attack (for Paula) but that doesn't say much. The most damage you will be dealing out with this power is 300 max. Once again, I suggest not using this, it just wastes PP and doesn't do a lot of damage. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PAULA (RECOVER) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NAME PP LVL RCV DESCR ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PSI Magnet Alpha 0 15 --- The only use for this power is draining PP from enemies. It doesn't use up any of your PP, instead it steals some for you. Good method to recover lost PP, or stock up. PSI Magnet Omega 0 24 --- Same effect as PSI Magnet Alpha, only now it takes PP from ALL enemies you are fighting instead of just one. It still takes the same amount of PP (random) but now you get it from all enemies, instead of just one. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PAULA (ASSIST) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NAME PP LVL RCV DESCR ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PSI Shield Alpha 8 6 --- This is the same as Poo's and Ness' Shield attack, only this guards against PSI attacks rather than normal attacks. It reduces PSI attack damage by 1/2, and does not reflect any back at the attacking enemy. Pretty useful to avoid less powerful PSI attacks. PSI Shield Sigma 24 27 --- A sort of modification of PSI Shield Alpha, but not very useful. Does the same job Alpha does, but costs a lot more PP. I suggest waiting until you get a newer version of this spell. PSI Shield Beta 14 51 --- Same as PSI Shield Alpha, only this not only reduces PSI attacks by 1/2, it also deals back a random amount of damage to any enemy that uses a PSI attack on you. Very useful, and doesn't use up a lot of PP. The only downfall is that you'll have to wait a while to gain this power. PSI Shield Omega 42 60 --- Same as PSI Shield Alpha, only this not only reduces PSI attacks by 1/2, it also deals back a random amount of damage to any enemy that uses a PSI attack on you. Very useful, but it does use up a lot of PP. I suggest using PSI Shield Beta instead. Offense Up Alpha 10 21 --- If Paula is attacking with little or no force, this is what you need. Use this to make Paula's offense increase for the remainder of 1 battle. Useful if Paula is dealing out weak attacks when she is capable of doing better. Offense Up Omega 30 40 --- A modification to Offense Up Alpha, this spell will make Paula's Offense increase greatly. I suggest only using this if Paula is attacking weakly on a very strong boss. The cost is 30 PP and you don't want to waste it unless Paula really needs an Offense boost. Defense Down Alpha 6 29 --- Kind of the opposite of PSI Offense Up. This power will cause the defense of 1 enemy decrease. This power isn't very strong, but later versions can help out in tough battles. You can use this on basic enemies or bosses, the PP cost isn't very steep. Defense Down Omega 18 54 --- A great increase in function than the previous one. This will greatly decrease ALL attacking enemies' defense, making it easier to defeat them. I do, however, only recommend this power for excessively tough basic enemies and bosses, otherwise it's a waste of PP. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- POO (OFFENSE) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NAME PP LVL HIT DESCR ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PSI Freeze Alpha 4 --- SOLO Excellent attack. Not only does it do up to 200+ damage, but it also can cause solidification of an enemy. This power also reduces enemy shields by 1 point. Very useful, but make sure you use it on the right enemy. PSI Freeze Beta 9 --- SOLO Uses up more PP, but sure is worth it. This attack can do up to 460+ damage, reduce enemy shields by 1, and cause potential solidification of enemies and bosses. If at a high level, use this instead of Alpha. PSI Starstorm 24 --- ALL Poo learns this attack during the fight with Master Barf. It is incapable of missing, it reduces enemy shields by 1, and it deals out up to 500 HP damage, all within a reasonable PP cost. One of (if not THE) best PSI powers in the game. PSI Starstorm Omega 42 --- ALL Although this attack does dish out a whopping 900+ damage, it is very costly in PP. Use only for bosses. This has all the same effects as PSI Starstorm, only does more damage to the person it's used on. PSI Thunder Alpha 3 --- SOLO The attack itself does quite a bit of damage for a power that only uses a total of 3 PP. It does anywhere from 50-150 HP Damage (most of the time) plus it reduces enemy shields by 1 points. Good to use on some enemies. PSI Thunder Beta 7 --- SOLO Pretty much has the same effect as PSI Thunder Alpha, only a little bit stronger. You can do up to 200 HP damage with this one, but you'll have to sacrifice 4 extra PP. I don't really recommend using this power, because it wastes PP when it does almost the same thing as Alpha. PSI Freeze Gamma 18 33 SOLO As usual, you can only attack 1 enemy at a time with this. Same features as the other PSI Freeze powers, only this time the damage range is anywhere from 400-600 HP. It uses up a bit of PP, so it should be saved for bosses only. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- POO (RECOVER) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NAME PP LVL RCV DESCR ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PSI Lifeup Alpha 5 --- 50-130 Pretty useful for the early stages in the game. This power will replenish quite a bit of HP for lower levels. You can use it for Ness or any other party member in need of HP (when they are at a low level.) PSI Healing Alpha 5 --- --- Used for simple ailments, such as catching a cold, sunstroke, and sleeping. You will be using this PSI power very frequently in the earlier stages of the game, especially on the way to Happy Happy Village, where you will be catching many colds. PSI Lifeup Beta 8 --- 220-370 The prime recovery method in the game. Not only does this use little PP, but it recovers huge amounts of HP on any party member (even when you learn PSI Lifeup Gamma.) You can even use this when you come closer to the end of the game. PSI Healing Beta 8 --- --- An add-on to what PSI Healing Alpha does, Beta will cure all that Alpha will, with the additions of crying, poison, feeling sick, and mushroomization. If it's poison you are looking to cure, use this power (you will be poisoned a lot in the game.) PSI Magnet Alpha 0 21 --- The only use for this power is draining PP from enemies. It doesn't use up any of your PP, instead it steals some for you. Good method to recover lost PP, or stock up. PSI Magnet Omega 0 27 --- Same effect as PSI Magnet Alpha, only now it takes PP from ALL enemies you are fighting instead of just one. It still takes the same amount of PP (random) but now you get it from all enemies, instead of just one. PSI Healing Gamma 20 36 --- Using this will cure all that Beta can, with the additions of paralysis and diomandization. You won't really have much use for this power. If you are aiming to cure simple ailments, use a less powerful spell, it will save you useful PP. This spell can also revive dead party members. PSI Lifeup Gamma 13 46 ALL Possibly the best healing PSI power you can get. It recovers all lost HP when needed, and only uses a small amount of PP. I suggest using this over PSI Lifeup Omega, only when needed though. PSI Healing Omega 38 51 --- Pretty much cures every known ailment thinkable. The PP cost is a bit steep, so if you have one particular ail that can be healed with a lesser version, use it instead to save PP. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- POO (ASSIST) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NAME PP LVL HIT DESCR ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Shield Alpha 6 --- --- Very useful when you first start the game. When using this power, you will reduce the amount of damage taken from an enemy attack by 1/2! Good for some of those tougher bosses early on in the game. Shield Beta 10 16 --- Has the same effect as Shield Alpha, only this power will reflect the enemy attack back onto the enemy, doing 1/2 damage to him. So you will be taking 1/2 damage to attacks, and doing half damage back when an enemy attacks you. Cost efficient as well! Shield Sigma 18 --- --- Nothing big, it just reduces amount of taken damage by 1/2, doesn't even reflect any back. Just use Shield Beta instead of Sigma, it does more and costs less. PSI Teleport Alpha 2 17 --- You will learn this very useful power after going through the Tarah Rama cave (the monkey teaches it to you.) With this, you can teleport to any area you have previously visited, but you must be in a wide, open area to pick up enough speed for it to work. PSI Teleport Beta 8 18 --- A slight modification...now you don't need a lot of room to pick up speed. You will now be able to run around in circles to gain speed, instead of going straight. You can warp to every town you've been to in the game, and you learn it after defeating Nightmare in Magicant. Brain Shock Alpha 10 24 SOLO This is kind of a waste. When working, this power will make the person it's used on feel strange. It has a very bad probability of working, and it's a 10 PP cost each time you use it, stay away from this one if possible. Brain Shock Omega 30 44 ALL Same as PSI Brain Shock Alpha, only with about a 40% increase in chances of actually being effective. Another big waste of 30 PP. Don't use this unless you have to, it just makes the enemy feel strange, nothing big. Shield Omega 40 51 --- Same as Shield Beta, only has a better chance of reflecting back at the enemy you use it on. To be honest, this is a waste of 40 PP, it does the same thing as Shield Beta, but costs 30 extra PP. Stay away from this power. =============================================================================== 14.
